This is my first post here after I just got this device Mate 9 Pro. I have a few questions.
I'm getting Wi-Fi disconnect every once in a while. When that happens, I can't reconnect unless I force forget that Wi-Fi and connect again after some minutes. Or I need to restart my device. I don't have problem with my other device (Nexus 4) so I guess it's not my router's fault. Another interesting observation is that when I reconnect without forgetting that Wi-Fi, I got "incorrect password" error. So far, this is happening only in my house Wi-Fi but I have other 5-6 devices which never experience this problem even once. Had anyone get the same issue?
Second is about supercharging. Sometimes I got normal "charging" or "fast charging" instead of supercharging. When that happened, I unplug and plug again to kick it in supercharge mode. How is that?
I tried factory reset but the two problems persist.
If you're in a 2.4GHz network try switching the router to channels 1, 6, 11. It might well be a congested channel.
If you're in a 5 GHz network try a channel between 36 and 48. I've had problems with the current B138 firmware under the DFS channels.
Regarding supercharging, this can be a number of things. Faulty charger, faulty cable, faulty phone, faulty socket, ageing electrical wiring, faulty surge protector... did you try plugging it directly in a different socket?
On a side note, is your username a phone number or something?

I wanted to believe it's just a weak Wi-Fi issue. But I've tried other channels, the same problem persisted. Furthermore if weak signal is actually the cause, shouldn't a simple phone reboot temporarily fix the problem? Because I didn't move the phone to another place. The phone also reports my Wi-Fi strength as Excellent. Plus the "incorrect password" error thing. I hadn't tried 5GHz extensively to see the same problem because in my house, where other older devices support only 2.4GHz networks, 2.4GHz seems to have stronger signal compared to 5GHz networks.
By the way, had you get any incorrect password error too?

When I got normal charging or fast charging, I unplugged and plugged it again in the same socket and I got supercharging mode. It seems random to me. I might need to try other sockets later.

The supercharge problem is likely my fault. I just realised today that I didn't plug my usb-c deep enough to fit the socket. It's really tight tbh.
I tried with 5GHz and still got the same random disconnect issue regardless of channel config.
Time to contact support I guess. It's a bummer but you're under warranty so I would go for that.
Just to be sure, this happens with any WiFi network (not just your router) you try to connect to?
What firmware are you running? Have you tried Settings > Advanced Settings > Backup & Reset > Network Settings Reset? And right after try to boot into recovery, clear system cache, boot normally and try connecting again.

I tried resetting network settings but it didn't help.
Now that I try changing DHCP to static ip when joining my home wifi. So far I haven't experience random disconnect and incorrect password error since.
I don't know how DHCP could cause such problem. My other devices connect to the same Wi-Fi and had no problem at all. I couldn't find incorrect settings in my home router too.
I'll update if problem comes back.

After updating to jellybean my wireless keeps disconnecting when i try to use it (data transfer/internet).
Sometimes it reconnects after about 30 seconds, but other times it wont reconnect until i forgot the network, and connect again.
The router is about 3 feet from me, and is on an otherwise empty channel. Its currently set to use b/g/n.
After some googling, it appears that this should have been fixed in Jellybean, but google did something (When i find the link again, i will ammend this) in ICS that meant b/g/n mode didn't work.
When i get home later today, im going to try changing the mode to see if this solves my problem, however i would like to know, Are other people having this same problem ? or is it just me ?
Resetting the wireless router might help.
There's a couple of threads going about wifi after updating to JB.
Someone had mentioned a router reset fixed poor connectivity.

As Thats OK said, try resetting your router. If that doesn't work, set a Static IP on your tablet.
I just got my 64gb G6 Edge and am experiencing major WiFi issues with the device. My devices wireless will disconnect randomly from a strong signal and I have personally observed it disabling and re-enabling the wireless by itself.
Also once disconnected it no longer sees ANY wireless networks no matter where I go even though it shows the "scanning" circle spinning and I know that there are strong known wireless networks by me. If I manually toggle the WiFi off and then on again, all wireless networks around me are detected again and if any of my known networks are present it will automatically connect. However after a period of time this connection will disconnect and I have to do the process over again.
I have already made sure that 1.) Smart Switch is turned off. 2.) Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep is set to Always. 3.) Always allow scanning is enabled.
I have also tried disabling the WiFi Power Save mode [*#0011# and click on more>>WiFi>>"WIFI Power save mode"] this too resulted in the same behavior.
I've only had this phone for a day and a half, not rooted, already cleared cache partition from stock recovery etc. I haven't tried a factory reset yet (not sure how much good it would do), but at this point is there anything else I should try or is the consensus I need to get my phone swapped out?
**Update** So upon extensive further testing it seems that my wireless issues are caused by issues connecting to the 5GHz band on wireless access points that use bandsteering in that both 2.4GHz and 5GHz use the same SSIDs. This is a MAJOR problem for me as I encountered this at my place of work and rely on wireless heavily not to mention my phone heavily for wireless testing. There are no "Advanced" wireless settings for selecting which band to use either.
I really need some suggestions in order to try and get this problem solved or I may have to switch to a crappier phone just to have functional wireless.
I had something like that happen too, but I only noticed it at home. My home network has both 2.4 and 5GHz using same SSID. I set my phone to use 2.4GHz rather than the deault setting "AUTO", now it seems to work. Shouldn't have to do that though, but maybe my home network isn't setup correctly. This is not device specific though, it happened on my old M8 and now on s6 edge. So it must be on my end.

Unfortunately I have already tried those options, what I am looking for now is the ability to manually select what wifi band 2.4 or 5GHz my phone uses automatically on the phone itself as Apollo stated he was able to do somehow.

I can only imagine he meant router settings because the S6 doesn't show that ability. Sounds like you have to get different SSIDs for your 2.4 and 5 bands.

Sorry guys, I was wrong. I upgraded from M8 to M9 last week. I had to change bands on M9, like on the M8. Didn't like the M9 so swapped out for s6 edge. I did not have to do this on s6 edge!
I had a brain fart..sorry for confusion, it was the M9.
This is what I have found out in my thorough testing on this. The S6 / S6 Edge have issues connecting to AC Wireless networks. Upon connecting the devices wireless connection to and AC Wireless access point or router it will become unstable and disconnect randomly and in my firsthand experience will not re-establish wireless connections at all until WiFi has been manually toggled off and then back on at which point the process I described above will begin again if connecting to any AC Wireless device.
A workaround for the moment for home personal routers is to separate the SSID's if they aren't already for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz and to use the 2.4GHz channel. This won't help however for all the places you cannot change that have AC wireless AP's installed etc. I am continuing to test this device for a while before I return it as I require functional wireless in my day to day job.
This is a huge issue, I contacted Samsung support yesterday about this (You should too) as I have confirmed that this is happening cross platform and carrier, S6 & S6 Edge, Verizon & Sprint that I am aware of so I'm guessing it all of them.
Anyone having problems with WiFi? My phone seems to easily disconnect from WiFi with the excuse of "Avoided poor internet connection". And it seems to have become worse after the v15e update. My phone is the H959 model from Singapore.

Are your channels congested? Try to find a better channel using wifi analyser

It happens on any network. I was on holiday in the US, and it kept dropping the connection. I thought it was just because hotel WiFi are just ****ty in general, but it happened at home and at work too.
The WiFi at home is an ASUS RT-AC68U, and I'm connected to the 5 GHz channel, and channel congestion is not a problem. 2.4 GHz is congested a lot, but the disconnect happens on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Most of the time, I would pick up the phone, and try to access a website and it would take forever. After a while it would say "Internet connection unavailable at *wifi name*". Then after a reconnect it usually works, and loads the page instantly.
At work, I'm wearing an Android Wear watch and installed the network change notifier, so every 10 minutes or so, my watch would tell me that I have disconnected from the WiFi and after 5 minutes it will connect back again... Signal strength is excellent, channel congestion is horrible, but it shouldn't disconnect that many times.

You seem to have a good rooter. With all my >snapdragon 800 phones and tablets wifi works perfect .
Connection between phone and router is 433mbps. Before you hard reset your phone try to change channel . And try to keep your connected devices at minimum 2 or 3. You can also try pseudo static ip instead of dhcp

All my other devices, be it computers, tablets, older phones, do not have this problem. The problem I face is really similar to this thread below:

I suspect it is due to a setting that is found in KitKat to "Avoid poor connections" but that is not found here. When doing a speedtest.net I can get 200+ mbps, so speed is not a problem. My phone just doesn't like to stay connected... Probably will try a hard reset, just need to backup my data.
Is anyone else experiencing connection difficulties with wifi since Oreo? Both at work & home with good, strong wifi signals my phone struggles holding onto wifi. Continually drops & struggles to reconnect like I'm on the edge of a signal (but I'm not, mere feet from a router). THen once connected it'll sit with an x through the icon.
Never had this before the update. On bone stock, locked Oreo OPR6.170623.011. Already tried resetting network settings to no avail.
Edit: Been running in safe mode for awhile and it seems to have alleviated the issue. So now it's time to figure out what app isn't playing nice.

I had the exact same issue. I factory reset my phone twice and did not restore any apps and had the same problem. Phone was under warranty so received a replacement which I am keeping on 7.1.2 for now. No issues yet.
I have a Unifi AP lite setup. Maybe I never noticed it before, but I was using a Rasberry Pi as my manager, but now I'm using an actual cloud key.
I've tried messing with all manner of settings and channels and band steering and AP names with no luck. My Pixel XL 8.0.0 will connect stay on for a bit and drop then reconnect. It never misses a beat, to be honest, I don't notice drops in connection. I am also noticing it in my Nexus 7 2013. My laptop seems stable, my girlfriend hasn't said anything about her iPhone or laptop. My Xbox one is stable, as is my switch.
I've reset network settings and tried the safe mode thing with no luck. I may do a factory reset this weekend if I can find the time.
In the mean time, I'm happy to have unlimited data at the moment.
I think I've narrowed it down to using a custom DNS. I was using a RasPi with Pi-Hole and my phone could not stay connected to wifi. I turned off the router pointing to my pi and boom, strong signal.
I tried manually assigning my IP / DNS etc in android 8.0.0 and it would not connect or hold a connection. I tried to connect it to 8.8.8.8 with no luck either. Back to stock DHCP assigned and I have a strong stable connection.
same issue not too sure what to do...is there a way to downgrade wifi driver?

So I have a stupid network, I'll try to upload a diagram of it here. My apartment internet only comes in in the kitchen and cannot go anywhere else unless I get a different provider, even then I'm not sure.
I moved the Pi to the router/switch that connects to the AP instead of on the other side of my network bridge and I have had 0 problems since. The attached diagram is my old setup as I was trying to explain it to people. Sorry it's not very pro.
Is anyone here also experiencing the same problem with me?
I found that from time to time, my XZ Premium losses WiFi connection and can't find any hotspot until I turn on then turn off airplane mode, or just restart.
Here are the screenshots form my S7 edge (SM-G935F) and XZ Premium, they were next to each other and very close to the router.

are you using 5G? if you are, you need to update the wifi channel and band through your router settings. that's what i did with mine and now i don't have that intermittent wifi connection anymore.

Every now and again it will just stop showing wifi connections, toggling wifi on and off might show a connection or 2 but it will either disappear or just say "Disabled" when trying to connect to it. Reboot solves it for a little while.
Usually use 2.4Ghz wifi with a variety of router brands.

Happens here on Android 8 as well, quite annoying to be honest. Sometimes drops the connection for no reason, and then when I click on WiFi settings, it doesn't show any connections till I turn WiFi on and off and even then it'll only show 1 SSID, turning it off for a while longer and then turning it back on brings back the rest of them and then it'll connect, but it's stupid how I have to keep doing this every few hours.
I set my 2.4 and 5 GHz bands to different names and join only the 5 GHz, and I don't get drops. On Oreo rooted.
i have xperia xz premium with Oreo 8.0 I encounter the same problems when I'm connected to my wifi, suddenly the data connection is blocked, and when this happens I have to turn off and on the wifi symbol to restore the connection. I do not understand why this happens. My phone is updated to the 47.1.A.5.51 system with November google patches. My modem is Billion Bipac 7800N
So it seems to be a common issue, anyone know if Sony is aware of it?
Where can we complain? It's their damn top of the range phone and it's most basic function isn't working right.

Knock yourself out. I've had more than one device with the Snapdragon 835 behave in this way, so I think it's a chipset issue.

Do a Google search for WiFi and Oreo and you will see that this is affecting multiple cell phones.
Do they all have the 835 chip in them???
I think it is an Oreo issue.
I have no such problems and I have Oreo and the 835.
Try disabling IPv6 on your router.
This is still OS/firmware issue but this temporally fix the issue

I found the solution:
My network works with two devices:
1 ZTE Router (2.4GHz)
1 D-LINK Repeater (2.4GHz)
In the router my XZ Premium works nicely, in the repeater happen exactly what you said, Connect apperars "no internet" after 1 second and wifi on Smartphone is automatically disabled or wifi stay enabled, but says "disabled" on network.
So.. I checked the wlan settings of the two devices in my network exhaustively item by item and I changed the devices settings about 20 times, I and I found that none of the settings matters (wpa or wep, 5Ghz or 2.4Ghz, Bandwidth 20Mhz or 40Mhz, type of network b / g / n, nor channel 1 to 13) just ignore this.
What REALLY MATTERS is a option in the advanced wlan settings, called "Fragment Threshold" this value was at 500, I changed it to the maximum (2346) and my XZ Premium started the connection instantly. Explaining: increasing this value defined that the packet can be up to 2346 bytes before being fragmented, so we deactivate packet fragmentation, reducing overhead and ensuring the best transmission rate possible, so this option determines the size of the frame.
Put simply: Go to advanced Wlan settings, locate "Fragment Threshold" and change to the highest possible value. That worked for me =)

1- turn off wifi in being wifi settings ie where you view your wifi networks
2- select "scanning settings". it will show once you have turned your wifi off
3- turn off wifi and bluetooth scanning
4- go back turn wifi back on and enjoy

It did not work for me, unfortunately.
I know I am reactivating this thread after nearly 3 years of the last post but did anyone find any effective solution to the Wifi issue?
