Hi,
This thread will probably die unanswered, but if you think you can help me identify my phone, you're amazing.
I got this phone by buying it from a friend of a friend. Not a good way to start off, I know.
The reason I first wanted to identify it was to find a custom ROM. But I've now understood that this may never happen.
Things I know for sure about the phone:
It has 4G
It has 2 SIM slots
Charge is done through normal micro USB
There is 1 micro SD slot
It has "3D Sound" (if that's any helpful)
It has 1 back and 1 front camera
It has an audio jack (definitely not the iPhone 7)
It runs Android 4.4.4
Things that don't really help
The brand: "Zuka" -> didn't give many results on Google. I did a reversed search by taking a picture, a Chinese reselling website showed up. I can't post links yet.
The sticker behind the phone's battery. It displays 2 IMEIs. I've checked both but it turns out they're probably fake, because the results corresponded to old LG flip phones. I'm not sure what to trust at this point!
I cannot post the Chinese website link unfortunately. It gives info about the processor, memory etc. (1.66GHz eight-core, 2GB RAM, 4800mAh power...)
Anyway, that's probably all the info I can give. If I forgot something, ask me! Sorry if my English is bad, I'm French!
If you have an hypothesis of what this phone is, post it below!
Thanks!
You could try to get more info by installing some hardware identification app from play. If you're rooted you can also check the build.prop for more info.

Thank you! I am currently exploring those
Do you know why the displayed IMEI doesn't match the phone?

There should be a model number to identify it but from what you're describing it sounds like a clone, which means it actually can't truly be identified as "that" or "this" device.
The reason why it has misleading IMEI information is probably because, as I said, it's a clone which means it was not manufactured by a typical manufacturer(where it would get its own IMEI and model number), it has probably had the IMEI from another device written to it.
You're right, you'll probably never find anything to get a clear picture of what it is or what you can do with it.
In my opinion, I'd put in a junk drawer and get another device that CAN be identified.

Thanks for your answer
That's close to what I was thinking of. This phone has nothing official. On the sticker where I found those 2 misleading IMEIs was a line saying "S/N: Zuka". That's it... No serial number whatsoever.
Not to mention I don't have any package coming with that phone, of course
Anyway, I'll keep using it for now because it works, has 4G, a decent battery life, and is rooted! :good:

LG and T-Mobile in all their wisdom have yet unleased another G2X model number upon the world. It is being supported by the LG Update program for rom updates also. Some people reported that TMO was giving this model away at a Chicago trade event and on a Twitter contest. Is the illusive white model? Or is is just the same same we have now with another label slapped on its insides? It would be interesting to know what the actual differences are between the model numbers. I will begin.
LG-P999DW - Original released version that most people have.
LG-P999DWP - One of the units reportedly a refurbished unit. But how does it differ from the LG-P999DWDU?
LG-P999DWDU - Another reportedly refrubished unit. Again, how does it differ, if at all, from the LG-P999DWP refurb units.
LG-P999WA - The new mysterious designation supposedly given out as freebies. Is there any hardware differences between previous models. Why oh why another hardware designation for the same device? Any of you with one of these bad boys/girls (gender neutral device for the PC crowd) let us know if you have discovered any differences between what you have and what we have.
Any other model deisgnators out there for the same hardware we have all come to love, loathe, adore, hate, etc.
Thanks TMO and LG. You gave us something else to talk and ruminate about while we are waiting for you to step up and give us 2.3.6 and then ICS (we love Ice Cream).
Thanks for this. I was wondering which was which the other day buy didn't feel like reading through other threads
how am i supposed to tell which one mine is...

The battery cover tells you nothing. They are all labeled P999, even P990s. The only way to tell is to connect your device to the LG Updater. It will connect to the device and tell you which model number you have. You are okay as long as you don't press the "start update" button.

That doesn't help either as the "DWP" and "DWDU" units are labeled "DW" on the sticker. The only way to tell for sure is to use the LG Updater to identify the device.

I wasn't aware of this, and yeah I was referring to what was printed under the battery after taking the battery cover off.
So anyway, how can I find out which model I have under the updater tool? I plug it in and it detects it, but doesn't tell me which model I have anywhere. Should I be looking somewhere specific?
-edit-
Nevermind, I guess you need to be running stock or OTA firmware for the updater tool to tell you what model you have. I tried with Cyanogenmod flashed and it told me there was an update but it wouldn't say what I have

Here is a screengrab with the area circled in green where the updater tells you what phone model you have. This appears after the updater connects with the phone and checks the current software version.

Please developer, i am asking your favour. Do you know how to fix prefix problem on miui, china jb leak, china ics stock. I am asking this because there is prefix problem when recieve call and message. For example, if i dial 0127676666 even i save my number 0127676666, it will show just number. If i save adding my country code +60127676666 it will show number and message will show name. If i do not save contry code it will show number or nama but seperate message which is with country code and without country code. This is really buggy that never solve. I try many method but still got the same problem. I hope, great developer can help me out. If i use custom rom it is ok but too buggy. Screen glitch, no 1080 video etc. If someone can solve this i think it should be great. I want to use stock ics mb865 searet but unlock vibrate cant be disable
Please developer, i begging to you please fix this. Motorola has abandoned us with this problem. I feel regret bought motorola phone, but can you fix this great developer. I am bagging to you developer. Please....

It is not fix the problem. The problem is min_match inside framework.jar. I am not sure how to change that. I try miui on my xperia no such issues i experienced. The min_match for china is 12. Usually min_match 7 or 8. Even i disable assist dialling there is nothing happen. Just change code when i want dialling a number. Because miui using me865 which is china base so the problem still there.
Same with me, I have exactly the same problem ... is not anyone who can solve the problem?
I deactivated my country code (RO), I edited all the numbers but then I have problems in posts ...

That ROM seems to be incomplete and unsupported. If it were me, I'd just flash something else if none of the fixes you've tried are working. Maybe the developer will come back and finish it, but to be honest, none of the ROMs released by that dev were ever finished they were just abandoned so I wouldn't really count on a fix or an update. Not any time soon at least.
If I had a dollar for every time I said that, I'd be making money in a very weird way.

Yeah that's right. Not one our rom is complete. With motorola abandoned us and the bug still persist. The stable rom was gingerbread. our ics seems lag like hell. Even i try to flash some tweak but it still can't help. Our atrix have same spec like s2 but because without unlock bootloader and source from motorola, i think this was a big failure for motorola. With sony after some harsh comment from user they provide source for dev to build custom rom even better. I use xperia mini pro with lower spec than our Atrix but it seems stable. Even their miui no prefix problem like ours. After wait for 2 years since it launch I decided to bought xperia Z and abandoned my atrix 2. Even motorola X the newest phone from motorola not get to much attention. Better go for LG, Huawei or ZTE. It is much more better rather than Motorola brand. Even after Google take place nothing much was changed. If motorola provide use with bootloader unlock and source for our atrix it would be wonderful but that just a dream.
Big Problem

Hello, I am a new user of Android. I have bought a Chinese android. Maximus MAX908. Chipset MTK6572. CPU Dual Core 1.0 GHz. GPU 3D GPU.
Though this isnt a branded phone, its not also a very rubbish phone. Today I've tried to flash a custom rom. Before this I have used a custom rom of Galaxy S4. I have rooted my phone and flash the rom through CWM.

I just bought a Nexus 5 from a guy who sold it to me as the D821 variant - which is the one that I want.
Indeed, on the back of the phone, underneath the LG logo, the device has MODEL LG-D821 written, and when I check in Settings > About Phone > Model, it simply says " Nexus 5 ". However, when I boot into FASTBOOT (loading up while holding volume down and power button), the third line says: Variant - hammerhead D820(HJ) 16GB.
This has thrown me a little. I'm currently using a US T-Mobile sim card and it is picking up LTE here in NYC. This has again got alarm bells ringing as I didn't think this was possible with the D821. My assumption at this point is that it's a D820 unit with a refurbished D821 cover on the back. Is this possible? I can't seem to find any trace of D820(HJ) online - specifically the HJ annotation.
Any help is appreciated.
Whatever fastboot says is the truth. The fact you get LTE in USA just confirms it.
Thanks. I guess that's that then. Any idea what the HJ annotation means? Nothing comes up in Google or on XDA...

They replace the entire motherboard, and subsequently the memory, its cheaper than attempting to diagnose the issue and replacing a single component. Nobody has ever mentioned (HJ) memory on their Nexus 5 so I dunno. Can you verify the rest of the hardware? The info tab of Antutu Benchmark should tell you most of things.

According to Antutu, everything checks out. The chipset, architecture, speeds and everything else seem to be spot on. In the benchmarks it even performs slightly above the Nexus 5 stats listed. I think I'm satisfied that it's not the phone I want to have in my hands, but if you guys want me to investigate for interests sake then let me know.

Not entirely sure what brand HJ is..
I bought a new NFC board to replace my existing one which has a broken contact.
The original has the part number EAX65371601_1.1
The replacement part has EAX65371601_E (I think it's an E)
Whenever I connect the replacement part, NFC refuses to turn on. It will slide over to on, grey out for about 10 seconds, then slide back to off.
Putting the original back in, NFC enables as expected.
I tried a factory reset to stock, but the problem persists with the new board.
Does anyone have any experience with this?

I got mine from ReplaceBase too, and just received another version. This one was EAX65371601_1.0 instead of my original EAX65371601_1.1
It didn't work either I guess there's no point asking for an exact match then, if even that didn't work for you. Wonder why it's not accepting the new board. I can't see anything obvious in the logcat.
I emailed them, apparently they've never heard of this issue before and just said if there is an issue with the part to replace it for a refund.
I have two PCBs and both end with 1.1, Possibly you require the correct part no for the PCB.
Ask if they have any NFC boards that end with 1.1, like your original.

Hi
So I bought one of these NFC logic boards off you a little while ago on eBay but it didn't work in my phone, it's exactly as described by this guy:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...wQFjAA&usg=AFQjCNEy_7pMVBmb07sUY9kZLeLOU8NGkQ
It would appear they're paired to the phone somehow and I'm thinking if I try the specific part number:
EAX65371601_1.1
there's more chance of it working. Last time you seemed to reckon the part was universal but seeing another guy with the exact same issue I'm not so sure.

I had a look through the service manual for the Nexus 5, but didn't see anything specific for replacing the NFC board. I was hoping there was some note about different firmwares or some magic command. Maybe it's a NFC security key thing, something to do with the HCE that the Nexus uses.
I've asked if they have the exact part number, but I reckon I'll just be offered a refund.
I also sent an email to LG support, though I don't hold much hope for an answer...

Seems the Nexus 5 is very fussy about replacing the NFC board, I wonder what the differences are.

Oh, right..in his email to me he said he's never come across this issue before and mine was an isolated case. He's such a liar, ha ha
How to know please if my phone is new or not? Knowing that the box was opened and unsealed when I received it?
I installed the application "Phone INFO" but apparently since Android 6.0 it is only possible to know this "counter informations" (Number of times of the USB cable and headphones have been connected) by rooting the device before.
But my Snapdragon-based model is not yet rootable, so it's not possible to get this counter informations via the "Phone INFO" application.
So, how to get this informations otherwise? Or what other application can give me this please?

Exactly you shouldn't had accepted it.
Take it back to store and get replacement.
You can give a try by calling Samsung and giving them the IMEI number and could figure out if has being activated or not.

Following my question, they sent me this answer:
"All items are brand new, original and unlocked.
Some of the items may not be sealed in Asian market.
The item will be undergone quality assurance process, original box and
Seal may be used as a warranty.
But the answer does not reassure me, and I want to check if the product is really new?
How to contact Samsung please?
Is there any other way to know if the phone has never been used?

It's best to return it, I'm from Asia and i never bought unsealed phone, I've even been to HK and even bought Moto Milestone few years ago and i got it sealed, i even bought an iPhone 5S from Singapore once, i got it sealed pack and i live in India, even in India i always got sealed phone
Sometimes it can't be sealed because some phones are region locked and need to be opened to place a 5 min Phone call to unlock the region lock
Use the app "charge cycle counter" to read how many times the battery has went through a full cycle. It will read the info from a text file on the device that will survive any reset to the device.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ch.cerebrum.ChargeCycleCounter
I know the screenshot says it only counts since the app was installed, but that's not the case with Samsung phones as the battery stores the info
Thank you all.
The app "charge cycle counter" is not reliable.
It would be a shame to return the phone if it is really new. I want be sure...
Other solutions please?
Shuthefrontdoor is correct, they are opened to remove the region lock then repackaged. You could also check the tires for wear to see if it was driven around...

The SM-G9550 model (HK) already factory unlocked. Why to open the box then ?
What is "Shuthefrontdoor" and "the tires for wear"? I did not understand...
Shuthefront door is the name of the member that replied to the thread, it also could be customs that opens the packages and the check the tires is humor.

Since the latest firmware of Samsung, it needs root to read the Usage Counters, as well as the Original CSC.
It is due to the fact that Samsung has strengthened its security policy. It is NOT the app's mistake.
If you have root, you still can see those info.

Thank you.
The question now is how to root the SM-G9550...
why dont you just check if the phone has anything scratches
If your phone is working and does not have any kind of lock and if there is no way to return i would suggest to just forget everything and use it like a new phone
