What are your experiences so far?

I just bought one for about 85€.
Hope it gets a little more attention and someone can root it.

Where? Can't find it for that price.

Hello, Can owners of this tablet give me some info on it's thermal performance? Specifically, how warm the case gets on the hands, CPU temps under load and the SoCs throttling behavior.
Thanks.

Will do if i get my hands on mine! Will do some stress tests and see how warm it gets!

I ordered it too for 100$ on gearbest. Finally after week and a half it is shipped out now, but tracking still shows pre-advised, so I think I won't get it for at least 2-3 weeks

Ordered mine from gearbest a couple days ago so it will be a while before I get it. I have rooted and installed custom firmwares on other tablets before so I have a basic understanding of how things work but I have never done this totally from scratch. I have been doing a lot of research and study on this and have a few ideas. First thing I'm going to try is to boot a custom recovery for the rk2388 chip with the fastboot boot recovery.img command and then then do some backups of the nand. After that I will try to extract the kernel from stock and insert it into a generic android 6.01 rom and see if I can flash it from within the custom recovery. Hopefully it will work( I know I will have to work on drivers and such too) but first things first just want to see if it will work. My main thing I'm scared of is messing it up and bricking the tablet. I'm hoping that providing fastbooting the custom recovery works I can restore to stock ROM if I mess anything up. Wish me luck and let me know if you have any ideas that may help.

+1 interested in this tablet.

Have you tested it?

In this specific device no, but it worked in all devices I own.

When you get it, give KingoRoot a try. Chances are it will work.. Hopefully..

If you brick it FNF has a recovery tool themselves. It is an update/recovery tool and can be found by googleing: fnf ifive mini 4s upgrade tool. Just pick the first one from techtablets.com.

There seems to be TWRP available for similar RK3288 Tablets here: http://crewrktablets.arctablet.com/?p=4776
It's a bit of an old post though, only TWRP 2.8.4.0, not sure if it will work 100% on this device. Would love to know if it works.

I found this post as well yesterday and decided to test it. TWRP does not seem to work, but CWM works just fine! I successfully installed chainfires supersu. Should I write a small tutorial or something?

Today is shaping up to be a great day. First I wake up and receive notice stating that my tablet has finally shipped. Then I come here and see more activity on this forum with progress. Congrats and good job on installing chanfires SuperSU DK. Does that mean you have full root now? And also did you install cwm or use the fastboot boot recovery recovery.img command just to boot the recovery?

Towelroot should work. It works on the standard S5 and AT&T S5 active as well as Verizon variants.

Go to device info in settings and look at the Kernel version. What date is listed?
**EDIT...NM, I see the kernel date listed in dallas532's sig as July 11. Towelroot will not work with Kernel dated after June 3rd.
You can put in a request to CF here to create a working CF Auto Root for your device. Just be sure to post the recovery.img file as listed in the OP if/when the source code is available.

I returned mine on launch day for a regular gold s5 because of the software differences. I tried all different ways I could think of to root and couldn't get a recovery to stick without soft bricking the phone.

Good to see ya interested in this phone too, UPdownLoAD! I hope all went well with the Torque dev when I had to pop off of the grid right after rooting that (this one is A LOT easier...trust me).
I just bought this phone earlier this week and hadn't looked into its rootability. I figured that, since it is a Samsung phone on Sprint, it would have an unlocked bootloader (and it does). There are, however, zero support tools for these. This is not TowelRoot eligible due to the newer patched kernel and is not on the CF-Auto-Root list yet.
I took a little time during the LLWS today to get this thing rooted and confirmed before I go out of town on business for a week and it turned out just fine.
Solution: Simply employing the use of a custom recovery and using the "fix su binaries" and "prevent stock recovery flashing" options upon exiting after entering the recovery.
Ok, yes, there is no official release of CWM, TWRP or Philz for this device yet. I have a custom recovery that is in Chinese that I, personally, know how to decipher, but would not release it here*. Hopefully, there is an official recovery on the way or someone properly builds one in English. CWM used to have an automated recovery builder tool server-side, but I think it has been offline since March of this year. Again, I am about to head out on business soon and don't have a lot of time until on my flights to dig more into this, but wanted to give the certain thumbs up to anyone considering this phone but didn't know if it would have root.:good::good::good:
In summary: YES, the Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 5 Sport (SM-G860P) on the latest OTA build (NG3) is rootable just fine.
*Please do not ask me for the recovery that I have...Google is your friend (it's only in a single public location as of right now), but I did not want to be responsible for someone grabbing it and guessing what characters mean and borking their phone.
I need help.

Most likely you'd need the Stock The file to Odin back to stock. But I'm not even sure those are available. Least I haven't seen anything mentioned about em.
Not sure what root method you tried, but there's been alot of talk going around for a week or so, that neither cf root, or towelroot methods don't work.
Next time (to be totally safe) it may be best to wait for a stock tar file to be available, before Taking a chance like this. Just a thought. Head to the SamMobile website and look up your devise to see if they got the Stock tar up. Still a pretty new device, so not sure if they'll be around yet. That sux tho.
Good luck!

The NG2 and NG3 tars are out. Get NG3 and prepare to wipe the entire device if you Odin the whole tar. It would be more helpful to know what you actually did (the method) versus saying "I tried to root". Since there is no automated root specific to this device yet and TowelRoot would not cause a bootloop, you likely ran something you certainly should not have (if it wasn't made for this phone model, why would you do that?) You've likely hosed up the phone/system to the point where you have to run the full tar (versus just the boot/kernel or the modem to "fix" with your user & system data in tact).
Grab the NG3 tar from sammobile or samsung-firmwares and Odin back to stock.
FYI TO ALL: everything is running smoothly after running my Titanium Backup restore from my old GS5 and pushing in Xposed modules. Also have successfully applied the hotspot tweak to my telephony.db and SD card write access. Hopefully I get some time during flights with Wi-Fi to pump out a recovery worth wide-releasing sometime this week if no one else chimes in.

I await patiently for some one to root and a custom recovery. I actually like this phone and prefer it over the regular but awesome GS5. I just wish for more support. I have rooted and customized every android phone I have gotten within a day of purchase, so it became habit and ritual. Now I sit here waiting patiently.

Indeed. Here is a link to the CF-Auto-Root download:

Just download, extract and flash the Tar with Odin using the PDA option. Let the device reboot into the temporary recovery and self-root.

TF700 WW edition. Please help multiple issues.

I bought a TF700 On amazon as a gift for my son. I want to have this all setup for him by Christmas. I love the one I have with CROMI-X 5.4 on it. Trying to do the same for him. Received it and starting working on it only to find out after starting the process that the bootloader says WW in it . Let me just say this version has been a much larger challenge than the previous one. I can't the the .10 bootloader to take. Tried flashing multiple times no go its stuck at .4 .
Chromi-X says it needs the .8 but seems to be working fine. However I would really like to get this thing updated to the newest one as I know it has several fixes in it. Any ideas ? Not used to the WW version.
Another question is will I have issues with getting US apps in the app store because of the WW designation?
Thanks in advance

You could try to do a factory reset and the update it to the latest version. Or Unlock the device and then install the TWRP. When you have the TWRP running, you can install the latest firmware in the TWRP that you want. Goood luck....:fingers-crossed:

You seem to know your way around, but I just have to ask: You are checking your BL version in the bootloader menu, right?
You did reboot to system after the bootloader flash? Didn't flash anything else in the same recovery session?
That bL/TWRP package from the CROMi-X OP is still packaged with TWRP 2.6.1. So you should be on the .10 BL with TWRP 2.6.1 if the flash goes through ok.
If it doesn't, download the file again and try with a fresh copy.
The bootloader is universal, the rom (or kernel) is regional AFAIK... If you flash the US edition of CROMi-X you should be ok.
I will do that. Right now is in a gift wrap under the tree. So it will have to wait till after Christmas now. Wife said put it under the tree since it's his only present and he didn't have any yet. Small box he feels cheated compared to his little brother should be neat to see his face when he realizes how wrong he is.
I guess you already flashed the ROM but if not do really think it is necessary to do so for a kid? He probably wouldn't even notice that it's sluggish. There are probably a lot of people out there that are happy with their TF700 the way it comes. People on these XDA forums tend to be more demanding then the average users who may not know or don't care that their tablet doesn't perform as good as others. I would have left it as it was and maybe flash a ROM if he complained about the performance.

Well battery life is better. On those long road trips it will make a difference. With all the bloat gone it runs much nicer and having a launcher overlay like kids place doesn't affect it. After having done the process a few times I didn't think it would take long. It's working fine with .4 and my wife uses it to so she wants it the way it is. So I guess for now I'm done.

Glad it worked out for you. The Dev's here are very good and the reason I kept my TF700 as long as I did. Longer battery life and getting rid of bloat are very good reasons to flash a ROM. I have a Samsung Tab S now and it's loaded with way more bloat than ASUS.

I got my Tab S 10.5 soon after they were first available in July. It's a great tablet. Much better then the ASUS TF201 and TF700 I owned. I did root my Tab S so I could use Titanium Backup and a couple of other apps that require root. I am still on the stock ROM. I'm OK with the stock ROM and Nova launcher.

Marshall London root?

Hey guys,
I really don't know where to ask this since this phone doesn't have a forum or anything - at least that I know of. If there is one I am glad if you can point me to it.
So, is there any way to root this device? I only bought it as a second phone for listening to music but I'd really like to root it, so, do you know anyhting?

This was essential for me. I have given up on purchasing this device. Based on monitoring the support page, it also seems the manufacturer is slow to develop updates. This device is starting to look like a manufacturer's experiment. I hope they do create an updated device and open to the US market...

If I were you, I'd try to flash root binaries via the recovery menu. Keep in mind, that I don't have that phone. If that fails, you can wait for the custom recovery and you can try to install binaries from there. Keep me updated.

Yes it is extremely slow development on this phone, since i did get it at the release there have been like 4-5 updates and none major update just some bugfixes that actually made the phone worse.
The support at MP is good fast answers but their not that good at helping you, they basically just copy&paste a standard Q&A.
My phone does stop vibrate occasionally, notification led is only functional sometimes, random reboots, Led flash is unusable on taking photos it does blend the lens so photos get almost black and some minor bugs, did contact support about this and they was not able to do anything due to that this is a gift from them. I had to pay for a shipping and repair myself.
I was hoping for root and custom rom, but as it seems that it will never happen i have an nice looking paperweight.

A custom rom might be a stretch due to the unique nature of the device, closed source code for the DAC, among other things. I have had trouble finding source code for this device, using code from similar devices tend to run into kernel panic issues.
I am working on a way to have flashable system images and a custom recovery on this device... and also a way to return the device completely to stock. The good news is that once you have binaries, you can use Fastboot to restore partitions. I have been able to re-flash experimental recovery builds with the original without any issue. No need to unlock or root.
And yes, root is possible. Kingoroot worked for me and I was able to successfully remove Kingo for SuperSU using the built in root swap tool in SuperSU.
I plan on starting a new thread for everything that I have for the Marshall London when I have everything working. Root, recovery, flashable ZIPs and stock images.
It may not be a device that is widely used but it definitely has a niche. I use it exclusively as an MP3 player because of its amazing sound. I also will be using it as a travel phone when I go to Europe. Shame the phone didn't find a larger market or even make it to North America because it's a very unique phone.

Alcatel OneTouch Flint TWRP

So i was finally able to install TWRP after rooting using this guide from @Casey Campanile
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/alcatel-onetouch-flint-root-t3440088
**You must have ROOT first**
So it is actually pretty simple,
*Download the file i uploaded
*Unzip the TWRP file
*Download FlashFire
Now I did have OEM Unlock in Developer Settings and BusyBox installed when I did this, not sure if it makes a difference.
*Make sure BusyBox is up to date
1. I suggest doing a backup
2. Flash the TWRP file that you unzipped as Firmware Package
3. Done
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO WIPE DEVICE THROUGH THE OPTION IN SETTINGS!!!
P.S. all this is done at your own risk. im not responsible for any bricked devices.

I can't believe no one has thanked you or at least said good going on this.I've had my Flint for about 6 months and used it as a backup mostly.I was sitting at work tonight waiting on the boss and I decided to look up and see if anyone had did anything with the Flint yet.I was floored when I came across your post. Everything is working great with TWRP but if I let it timeout and screen go dark it won't allow me to swipe to unlock. Not a big deal to me but I wanted to report it to you since no one else seems to be commenting on this.I appreciate your hard work and taking the time to do it. Great job!!! ? ??

I've got an issue with TWRP I can't seem to find anything on.Wanted to see if you could help me figure it out.Initially after installing all was well.Made a backup and rebooted.Today,a month later I wanted to do a factory reset and Initially tried via settings/backup/device reset. It just rebooted back to home screen.I then rebooted into TWRP and tried via wipe but nothing will mount. My SD card won't even mount and everything shows all 0's.Any ideas?I'm not a noob by any means but I can't figure this one out.

Hmm, that's seems weird haven't experienced that before. I haven't tried to do a full swipe yet on this phone. Did it complete the wipe?

No it didn't.I couldn't get anything to mount in recovery to complete a wipe.I think perhaps that we should do a warning about trying to wipe from backup/reset in settings. At least until we figure this out.I was finally able to do a reset via Flash fire but nothing will mount in recovery still.

That sounds like a good idea only thing I would try is to try and restore the backup you did and try and reflash TWRP see if that does anything I have yet to try and reset this phone considering its my daily phone currently my lg g3 suffered the fading screen and I couldn't get it fixed

I highly recommend the Honor 5x if youre budget inclined and the Mate 8 if you have a few extra $$.I had the 5x and it actually is a damn nice device.I beat the Nexus 6 in Antutu scores with it.

That's pretty impressive I'm gonna look into that one, one thought just crossed my mind you try flashing your recovery through the fastboot commands on the bootloader?
I tried reflashing every way possible.Still nothing will mount.I think you may want to add a warning to the OP not to try and factory reset via settings.Maybe we can figure it out.
I added it to the OP. Something that might help is when I was digging thru this phone I found out it's the same as the Alcatel pop 3 5.5 looks like they just renamed it
OMG, this has been great. Im all rooted and TWRPd with my Flint now. It is a great feeling, but Im not sure what to do next Are there any benefits to this now? I can't find any custom roms for it...is there a way to get something newer than Android 5.1.1 installed?

No custom ROMs rn but u can install Xposed for lollipop and u can remove bloatware with titanium backup
Cool, so, I'm not clear what Xposed gives me though. Is it worth it?
Hey Xposed has different modules you can install, my favorite are YouTube background play and YouTube ad blocker but they have various ones, just take a look on the downloads section in xposed

Wow, my day is complete. This is great. Going to install soon. Ive been looking for a YouTube ad blocker! :good:
Just wanted to follow up again and say thanks for pointing me to this. I've got the framework installed and now im going through the modules, picking what looks good to me. This is pretty much all I needed I dont care if we never get a custom rom at this point.
Your welcome, there's a lot of modules, I would say just be careful which ones you install and use. Ive had some that gave me problems
CyanogenMod a possibility?

ADB and 8T

Okay... I've been searching all over the net for this problem and I keep getting posts that skirt the issue. At least, that's what it seems. So I will begin and you can decide... and thanks for whatever info you can throw my way.
Brand new OnePlus 8T. I want to root it. Duh. So, Got the Tiny ADB and Fastboot package and all the rest, but the issue is with unlocking the bootloader. Other problems may appear later, but this is the issue now.
So, connect phone to PC (Windows 8.1) and the only way that ABD recognizes my phone is when the USB prefs are set to 'No Data Transfer". Yes, I have installed the proper drivers from the phone. So, when the 'No Data Transfer' is selected, ADB recognizes the phone and will issue the command, ABD Reboot Bootloader and the phone reboots to the bootloader. Nice! Unfortunately, it appears that once the phone has booted to the bootloader, it has changed the USB Prefs and now ADB and fastboot do not see the phone. Obviously this sucks. And here is the problem. As far as I know, I have ticked off on all the proper settings. USB Debugging, etc. No joy!
I found a post elsewhere that showed how to set the default USB mode and that didn't work either. My experience has been that ADB used to see the phone under the 'File Transfer' and PTP options before, but it doesn't now. I can't explain this.
So, pretty frustrated. This shouldn't be so bloody difficult. It's only a couple of commands and I have done this with other phones in the past so it's not like I have no previous experience. But I have already wasted way too much time here this go around. Anyone have an answer? I'll be your best friend!!
Thanks all..

Thanks man... ya, I did try that to no avail.. but.. the fact that the original command works.. well. Don't think that is the problem, but thank you for taking the time to consider my problem. Cheers!

I had to install drivers for both ADB and bootloader mode. I documented what I did here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...t-fastbootd-driver-guide-for-windows.4282241/

Hey Thanks, Bill. I"ll give this a whirl and see how it goes. I'll report back after. Cheers!
Ok, that appears to have solved the driver problem. I was able to finally unlock the bootloader and flash twrp. Now it is stuck in a boot loop.. fun fun!
I had been following this guide
How to Install Official TWRP Recovery on OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8T and Root it
OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8T (codename: instantnoodle/kebab) was launched in the year April and October 2020 with Android 10 and 11 respectively. Recently

to root my 8T, but it appears that this fellow was missing some info? I take it ya can't just flash twrp to recovery like usual. The picture is slowly coming together.. much more complex than the last few times I have rooted phones.
So I assume that flashing twrp writes over the stock recovery.. and that leads to this crashdump mode popping up. To fix this, I will need the stock recovery.img and flash that back into place? Feel free to chime in and thanks in advance!

Flashing TWRP doesn't cause CrashDumps. They happen when you try to boot the system and something's not right.
You could try changing slots and then rebooting. That sometimes works (depending on what else you've done). You can do this in either TWRP or bootloader.
PS: if you use the reply button, then I'll be advised that you've posted a reply. Otherwise you'll have to wait until the next time I look to see if there's new posts in a thread.

Alrighty! Changing the slots did bring the phone back and it is now booting properly. But if I try to boot into recovery, it fails and goes to crashdump. Any ideas? Bad twrp image??

Hi guys, to root the 8T it's by magisk_patched.img via magisk manager, not twrp (it's old school),
Root FR (sorry a'm frenche, and better explain to me.)
since Android 11 twrp is less good ...

What I like about TWRP is that I can do things without needing a PC. So rooting, back up and restore, install new ROMs, ...
And now, with version 3.6.0, TWRP works well on Android 11

Yes, that works,
but don't be surprised to have instabilities in the ROM!
I already had some,
by magisk patch it's more cleaner,
But you are a big boy.
Good luck,

that's not the problem to use it for years,
myself with android 10, I was using it, I was already using magisk in 2015, on my Sony z5c (with lineage 7.0.2/ base is the ROM Orange Telecom owner... )
but since Android 11, the data decryption is no longer the same.
just the 30 second twrp boot, I don't really like it, so restored a system with something like that ... lol
Magisk is the best Root solution!
I like this!
Since the magisk_patched has become root's solution, to A11.
an old dog!!
You like croquettes and the mash?
Thx,

If they could fix the interminable start up time for TWRP that would be brilliant. But I believe the problem is with a file system check rather than the actual decryption which is quite fast.
Sorry, croquettes and mash aren't in my menu. But empanadas - absolutely!
Sorry, I had to leave this for a day or so, but I am back. BillGoss, looking at the guide I posted a link to earlier, would you say that guide is acceptable or are there issues with it? Theoretically that is? And does it depend on what build you are using?
Or if you know of a better process and files, please feel free to point me at it.
Many thanks

Actually a trick you can use is in twrp if you have the magisk APK change the ext to zip and install in twrp it patches the boot img for you in right slot so you don't have to pull img from phone
