Here you folks go. Off of my phone to you. http://www.multiupload.com/YOXKQ18YW0. You Must have 2.1 with the 3.6 Update. I would recommend making a backup before applying. Use at your own use. If you get a Status 7 error, see my thread in the General forum on how I resolved it. Have Fun!
how is it? faster than 2.1?
Oh yeah. More bloatware, but that's easy to remove. Internet speed is faster. Phone is more responsive. Nice to have the Hotspot feature now. Overall a worthy upgrade. Now to wait for 2.3
can i use this update for my finland rom 3.42? or this is just for TMo version?

Would you happen to have original t-mobile 2.1 in sbf format?
Unfortunately no-one has one for the US. I'm guessing you updated to the leaked version? The good news is that if my suspicion is correct a nandroid backup of this should play fine with the updated firmware. If you look at the difference its minor. 34.4.9 vs 34.4.4. I have not yet had the time to make one yet. I'll try to do so tonight.
What did you have to do with the update.zip in order to upgrade your defy? I'm on 2.1 with the 3.6 update, I'm rooted with superoneclick, and I have it copied to the root of my sd. Did you use clockworkmod recovery?

Its an update zip file signed by company so you should enter stock recovery by power+vol down and then select update from zip.
hmm... how about flash 3.4.2-107 TMobile US Blur with RSDlite and then
update.zp?
Just tried it. No go.
It checks for the right build fingerprint before it continues. You need to have 6.36.0 or it aborts.

Thanks for the update.
...... I just want something official now
( I am on official Chinese 2.21 build 1.11, it is fast, specially when you skip Blur registration. But, just in case I need my phone service by t-mobile .... )
The leaked T-Mobile SBF was fast too.
But yeah, an official one would be better.
If the Nandroid method doesn't work, I hope someone posts an SBF soon...

As for right build fingerprint, yes you are right. It is picky as hell. In the other thread I also mentioned that it is checking for apps. For example, I have Blockbuster disabled....it checked for it, didn't find it, and failed. I spent over 4 hours last night getting this to a point that it would work. Way Way too much hassle. Unfortunately I don't think I'm going to get to do a backup tonight. Was up way too late last night/this morning working on this and put in a 12 hour day. As soon as I get a breather I will. Sorry.
No worries!
Is there any way to edit the build.prop file so that I can get the update to work?

Unfortunately I don't have an un-updated Defy in front of me to pull the strings. I'll look at one of the ones at work tomorrow. If you read the error though it should tell you exactly what it is looking for. Mine did. Aslo try deleting the logwrapper. The was one of the holdups on mine.

I just loaded this update.zip on my fiance's Defy...didn't wipe data or cache, it's booting right now....stuck at the T-Mobile "Stick Together" screen, waiting for the initial long boot
EDIT: Booted, running 2.2.1 now! So far so good, it's a little slow but it would be while it catches up. I have an Atrix and it's almost the identical interface.
can you make a sbf file of entire build?

Hello guys,
I just got my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 and wanted to mess around with it and root it. I thought I did everything correctly - it won't let me post the site I used .
However, now I am in a pickle. Whenever I start my SGT, it gets to the Samsung loading screen, does the intro tune, and then just starts all over again. I tried doing a hard reset and I tried wiping all of the cache/saved files/etc. but nothing seems to work. I am at a loss as to what I can do. Has anyone seen this before or is there a way around it? Is there anything I can do?
Much Appreciated,
Sam

I am not entirely too sure, to be honest - I wish it would be let me post the site I used haha.
I used the below ClockworkMod Recovery:
imnuts’ CWM Recovery image
I downloaded the developer nycbjr’s rooting package - cwm-root-gtab2.zip
Does that answer your question?
Kinda. Did you just want root or a custom firmware as well? I am am running the CM9 and I'm very pleased with it. :good: Not as flashy as the stock but it is a performer.

Honestly, I am not even 100% sure why I did it. I was browsing the Android Market and got some apps I liked. The issue arose when I tried using them it requested that I have root powers - I wasn't really trying to modify the os or anything like but was just looking to get root powers. If I hook up my phone to my laptop and put it into Recovery Mode and run Odin, can I PDA the CM9? Do you think that would help? Is there anyway to reset it through Odin? When I do a hard reset, literally nothing changes.
Please post the link to the root method you used. I have a hunch you tried to flash a zip for the gtab 10.1.

It's fine. Back to work, what you call a soft bricked tab is what I call an opportunity to flash a new ROM. I'm a tab 10.1 guy so I can't recommend a specific ROM. But I've heard good things about Tab2Lite and CM9.

I'm glad to hear there is a chance my birthday day present won't become a paper weight. I am still a little new to this stuff so I wanna make sure I am on the same page as you. The ROM that I used was cwm-root-gtab2, correct? I had to download a bunch of files and I am trying to make sense out of what is what. Now, when you said I need to get a new ROM, would that consist of me putting a new ROM on the external SD and then running that?

Basically if your tab is on the latest firmware image, you need the latest espresso file. I'm guessing that you were on 4.0.4 and the espresso file you first flashed was for 4.0.3. That happened to myself and a few other people as it's not really clear what you need in those guides!

About to tear my hair out at its roots trying to get this thing up to Jellybean. I bought it being told it was Jellybean capable but it had not been upgraded yet and all I had to do was go to the Asus site and get the files.
Well I go to the asus site and sure enough I download the file but thenit does not mention how to do the upgrade process. So I then go to - http://forums.androidcentral.com/an...-jelly-bean-asus-infinity-tf700t-minutes.html and this tells me to get the file needed to make it a specific file name and then do the reboot into the regular bootloader.
Well this worked like a hill of beans. I kept getting an error about the signature being invalid though I downloaded it off the ASUS site and I tried downloading the file three different ways (at work) on my phone and off my home Cablemodem) so if its a file problem its a file problem on the hosted site Asus is using.
I then used the unlocker and I unlocked my Asus it even shows it is unlocked every time it unboots so this part I know I did right.
I then ran DebugfsRoot_Generic_v2.3.zip from the link here - http://dottech.org/78441/how-to-root-asus-transformer-pad-infinity-tf700-debugfs-method-guide/ - and it said that it gave me root access on the OS installed. I however downloaded SU and RootChecker both which indicated I did not have root.
So then I decided if I was going to do this I would go full gusto. So I got a CWM GUI from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2094746 because I use CWM on my phones and figured if I stuck with the gui version of this I would be fairly competent on doing a rom replacement.
So then I downloaded a couple of roms from here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1834521
as well as the SU that can be flashed. before boot up but I seem to still not to be able to get root (though the tool I used indicated I have it) on the current system.
The problem I have right now is rigt now anything I try and load from my sd card that is a zip shows -
E: Can't Open /sdcard/filename.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted.
For Filename.zip I have tried CWM-SuperSU-v0.99.zip from http://download.chainfire.eu/310/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.04.zip as well as multiple ROM files from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1834521 as well as a couple from Asus
Things i know 1) I have correct USB from the Tablet to the PC this is evident because I was able to update the bootloader to the CWM GUI. 2) The MicroSD card is a 4 gb card and it works just fine. I have used it in my computer many times and I can open and copy and move files just fine on it any which way. 3) I am unsure as to why DebugfsRoot_Generic_v2.3.zip indicated it was all Rooted but then rootchecker is not showing it as rooted.
Is the fact I don't have Root the main reason for the files not being able to be opened? If so is there a better TF700T root program out there?
So for my clarification you want Jelly Bean rooted?
Is this correct?
Although it could be risky, you can actually toggle file system hashing verifications off in CWM. Make absolutely sure that the file downloaded correctly by verifying the MD5 yourself, other wise you could end up with a brick of the same value but even less practical use than the one you currently have.

Just to correct a minor error in terminology, just to get it straight: CWM is a recovery, and not a bootloader nor a "GUI" to the bootloader.

Nope, an unlocked bootloader and a suitable recovery is all you need. Once those two are in place and working correctly, you should be able to flash anything. Rooting pertains to the access granted to the filesystem once you're 'inside', i.e. with the tablet running the ROM installed.

Nah, this works for pretty much anyone. I've had the error of "bad installation" a few times as well, and I toggled the hashing. Worked like a charm, although, as said, there is a minor risk involved if you do not keep your head cool and forget to verify manually. I haven't had this on the latest version of CWM, though.

I have already followed these instructions multiple times and each time it is giving me errors about the files being invalid or something of the sort.
I have tried about 4 different roms to load and each time I get bad file indicators even after comparing md5s and verifying the files are okay.
Is there any way to wipe this thing 100% and just load something on fresh?

Hmmm..Guess I'm not catching what you have done.
When you downloaded from the Asus website did you rename the file inside the zip to: EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip then place this on your microSD?
Also I don't see any mention of ADB to push files to the tablet.
Sorry for my confusion.
Just not understanding where your at.
It is possible to wipe the internal SD card (eMMC) memory using TWRP...yet I'd wait until we get things sorted.
Let me go over what I did and what didn't work and let me go over what I finally did that did work now that I have mine all upgraded.
Didn't work -Scenario 1 -
Go into Settings->About Tablet-> System update this did absolutely nothing for getting me jellybean it just sat at a connecting screen that gave me nothing.
Didn't work -Scenario 2 -
Straight from the last link you provided -
1. Decompress downloaded .zip file (it will be another .zip)
2. Rename it to EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip
3. Format FAT32 the MicroSD card that you will be using for the update process
4. Copy the file to (the root directory of) your MicroSD
5. Insert it into the tablet
6. Shutdown (power off) the tablet
7. Power it on by pressing and holding VOLUME DOWN and POWER buttons simultaneously
8. When you see white text in the top left corner of the screen, release the buttons ^^ and press VOLUME UP button until you see Android logo and process bar
9. Wait patiently for 10 minutes or so
(when I reached number 8 nothing happened automatically and I had to use the blue screened system recovery and when I pointed it to the SD file it told me it was a bad file.)
Didn't work -Scenario 3 -
Loaded
Transformer ADB Tool v6 and then loaded CWM GUI and then tried loading different rom from all over the place Asus main site, and all over the Index site here for different roms. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1834521
Finally however I finally made it work -
I am not sure why ALL the other ways did not work but on mine this is what I had to do.
1) From my first post I got the program from Asus that did the Unlocker I ran that from the Asus site.
2) From the first post I installed CWM GUI and I installed that.
3) From the index site I downloaded Stock Rooted Odex 10.4.4.23 to a USB stick - mainly because it says its rooted and I don't have to worry about rooting it AND I don't mind being .02 revisions behind.
4) I did an MD5 check vrs the download verified all was correct.
5) Tried to install from the MicroSD card and it failed yet again same errors as before.
6) On a whim I rebooted the TF700T and I copied the Stock Rooted Odex 10.4.4.23 to the device directly.
7) I booted to CWM GUI again and this time it installed when I selected to load from the internal SD.
8) I reloaded all my apps on the top.
9) I then loaded the apk of flash that "isn't supported" but works well enough on JB even on my phone.
So basically it would not install from my MicroSD though everything said it should but it would work fine from the internal memory.
This is with me using 2 different MicroSD cards and both are known working ones out of current phones I use all the time.
So I am now up to Jellybean and I am sporting all I needed to be upgraded for. Thanks for the attempts but it was just my constant tenacity that got me through this process.
Sounds like you have loaded my stock rooted rom. Which means you will still be on the old ice cream sandwich bootloader. Recommend you flash the JellyBean bootloaderfrom one of my threads in the ddevelopment section.

Ugh so I actually just made this worse? Basically since I did Stock Rooted Odex 10.4.4.23 over the version 9 ICS I am still running version 9ICSwith files over the top that are from 10.4.4.23 making it now some mixture of the two? So confused because I thought when I did a rom upgrade it wiped out the old and put in the new? it is showing the right version in Settings and it is acting right with what Jellybean should be doing so I am a lot confused right now.

boot into recovery, when you see 4 icons, take a look at the second line (white text), it should say the version of your bootloader (1.00e is JB bootloader and 2.00e is ICS), then next to it is your JB or ICS version.
What sdbags said is when you flash a premade rom from XDA, it only included the ROM/kernel, but no bootloader. The only way is to flash the full firmware download from Asus site which included everything and bootloader is one of them.

Thanks guys I went ahead I went ahead and downloaded it from the link right on the website that sbdags was talking about just did a quick forum search and found the proper JB bootloader. So now I have a CWM GUI recover, JB bootloader and the sdbags stock rooted JB rom on it.
Now I know this is a loaded question and someone has already mentioned CleanROM Inheritance 3.2
But are there any clear cut "great" JB roms that run pretty much flawlessly on the TF700T that are prerooted? Just checking because as I mentioned I have tried quite a few roms on my Samsung S2 and used AOKP, SuperNexus, and am now on ShoStock3. Are the roms on the TF700Ts about the same in "feel" to their galaxy s counterparts? E.G. AOSP TF700T like a AOKP Galaxy S2? (assuming AOSP and AOKP are the same developer?
Thanks for everyone sticking with me through this. This has been such a learning curve over my phone which was simply install CWM (non gui) and download the rom and then flash. Didn't have to worry about unlocking anything, didn't have to worry about where I was installing the rom from and all that.

Thanks guys I went ahead I went ahead and downloaded it from the link right on the website that sbdags was talking about just did a quick forum search and found the proper JB bootloader. So now I have a CWM GUI recover, JB bootloader and the sdbags stock rooted JB rom on it.

Good job -- wherever you got it from, it served you well. I'll keep the JB bootloader on that DropBox link for a while so others can benefit from it too.
Now I know this is a loaded question and someone has already mentioned CleanROM Inheritance 3.2

Pretty much all of them are preooted, but in my opinion, none of them is as smooth as CROMI. BBB7 has been quite a bufggy experience for most of the people that tried it (or so I gather from the thread), and although the CM team is making nice progress on their 10.x version, some minor niggles remain (and sometimes resurface, such as shortcut keys on the dock being broken every once in a while). Also, CROMI is developed actively in the meantime as well, and you can take the mods with it that disable those annoying notifications.
Just checking because as I mentioned I have tried quite a few roms on my Samsung S2 and used AOKP, SuperNexus, and am now on ShoStock3.

I agree that the SGS2 was a breeze to flash compared to the TF700 -- I was in the same boat as you. Flashed away without a care, then had to learn how to do it anew with the Infinity.

The differences are greater, because the TF700 has a lot of pixels to push and therefore its hardware is more hard-pressed than the SGS2's. The Exynos in the SGS2 is a VERY good chip, so it handles itself quite nicely in lots of scenarios. The Tegra3, I am pained to say, has impressed me less in everyday use than the numbers on paper did. With CROMI, it's pretty good, so I'm happy as it is now, but it should have been better out-of-the-box.

All I worried about was that darned yellow triangle. Thanks to Chainfire we could disable that too, so I was a happy camper.
Hello, I am just wondering if any of you guys received a firmware upgrade recently.
I upgraded to this firmware which I believe was built early this month and it seems like it can't be rooted and my Google play keeps on crashing.
I did some searches and there seems to be no results regarding tf700 and this build. Anyone?

Looks like they are doing a new release for the TF700 which is not unexpected seeing as they just did one for the TF300 and ME301 as well. The same problem exists on those two devices. Asus have closed the root loophole motochopper has been using. As of now there is no known root method other than unlocking.
What waste of their time...instead of fixing things like the lag, on screen keyboard output and browser compatability they get all paranoid about someone fixing it for them...

S'alright, unlock and flash my CROMi-X 5 which is based on their later 10.6.1.27.1 release anyway
@sbdags
When I get mine back, if it's fixed, I intend to do just that might be the only good way to get any use of my 700!
you won't be let down by cromi 5 beta
I'm amazed by this rom

So, does anyone have a changelog for this or know if it's possible to keep root with Voodoo OTA and this update?
On the other hand, I may be sending my tablet to ASUS for repairs. If they update to this firmware, does factory reset revert to an older version I can root without unlocking?
Thanks!

I have sent mine in for digitizer repairs...so I'm sitting here worried about the same thing...I hope they don't flash my stuff..as of this moment, I don't think there is a way back.
Motorola did this to me with a Photon 4G phone right before they said they wouldn't be updating the OS beyond 2.3 they OTA'd my phone so I can't put a ROM on it. Guess what, no mo moto for this dude and now there won't be any more Asus either, pretty soon I won't be buying anything but I'll have a lot of money!

I recently got mine back from RMA for a digitizer repair and they didn't touch the OS or f/w install. And no problems with the repair - went very well overall.
Sigh...So much for Motochopper.

Thanks for the post, sdbags. :good: I've been struggling with Motochopper ever since I got the OTA a day ago. I thought I was doing something wrong, and have been ripping out my hair. You have saved an old man's sanity.
And I was soooo happy to see that I had gotten and OTA and my build was now 10.6.1.14.10, up from 10.6.1.14.8. Ah well.. just have to wait for another motochopper. Anyway, thanks again. :highfive:

There was one user reporting to have kept root with OTA root keeper. You could downgrade to .8, .10 does not seem to have any real advantage anyway...

Good to hear! My only question is will they do it under warranty as it expired on the very day the digitizer started acting up

For my digitizer recalibration repair they downgraded it to 4.1, and it won't upgrade now (just doesn't find any updates, on stock).

Bad update
Hi to all,
I´ve just update my TF700T to the latest firmware JOP40D.US_epad-10.6.1.14.10-20130801 but all goes wrong.
First, every app I´ve installed has been stopped, no one works. Every time that i want to launch an app, appears the message "sorry, the XXXX app has stopped...", the same with a lot of processes: "sorry, the process XXXX has stopped"
Second, I try to fixit rebooting the pad, but evrery time I reboot it, or shut off and then power on it, is the same: "android is updating/upgrading: optimizing nn applications of mm"
What should I do, i´m desperate my TF700T is unusable.
I´m root, not unlocked. I activate the survival mode in the SuperSu app to try to mantain the root.
Thank you very much in advanced.
update:
I made a cold reset, wipe data and nothing works. Now I can´t enter on the system, because when I need to configure my google account, i receive a message the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped.
I also try made a RCK, but i got the android with the red triangle with the exclamation inside.

I got this error when mine upgrade to 10.6.1.14.10, too...
I managed to fix this by following "Alternative Firmware update Method" in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28374043&postcount=1
You may download 10.6.1.14.8 from Asus web site, downgrade the device, root it if you want to, and then apply OTA upgrade again.
Hello xda,
I recently bought the newly released FNF Ifive Mini 4S from Banggood and i was wondering if anyone is planning to make a root and/or custom recovery for it?
Thanks

What are your experiences so far?
I just bought one for about 85€.
Hope it gets a little more attention and someone can root it.
Where? Can't find it for that price.
Hello, Can owners of this tablet give me some info on it's thermal performance? Specifically, how warm the case gets on the hands, CPU temps under load and the SoCs throttling behavior.
Thanks.

Will do if i get my hands on mine! Will do some stress tests and see how warm it gets!
I ordered it too for 100$ on gearbest. Finally after week and a half it is shipped out now, but tracking still shows pre-advised, so I think I won't get it for at least 2-3 weeks
Ordered mine from gearbest a couple days ago so it will be a while before I get it. I have rooted and installed custom firmwares on other tablets before so I have a basic understanding of how things work but I have never done this totally from scratch. I have been doing a lot of research and study on this and have a few ideas. First thing I'm going to try is to boot a custom recovery for the rk2388 chip with the fastboot boot recovery.img command and then then do some backups of the nand. After that I will try to extract the kernel from stock and insert it into a generic android 6.01 rom and see if I can flash it from within the custom recovery. Hopefully it will work( I know I will have to work on drivers and such too) but first things first just want to see if it will work. My main thing I'm scared of is messing it up and bricking the tablet. I'm hoping that providing fastbooting the custom recovery works I can restore to stock ROM if I mess anything up. Wish me luck and let me know if you have any ideas that may help.
+1 interested in this tablet.

In this specific device no, but it worked in all devices I own.
When you get it, give KingoRoot a try. Chances are it will work.. Hopefully..

If you brick it FNF has a recovery tool themselves. It is an update/recovery tool and can be found by googleing: fnf ifive mini 4s upgrade tool. Just pick the first one from techtablets.com.
There seems to be TWRP available for similar RK3288 Tablets here: http://crewrktablets.arctablet.com/?p=4776
It's a bit of an old post though, only TWRP 2.8.4.0, not sure if it will work 100% on this device. Would love to know if it works.

Congrats and good job on installing chanfires SuperSU DK. Does that mean you have full root now? And also did you install cwm or use the fastboot boot recovery recovery.img command just to boot the recovery?
