No, thats Typo, article is about A9, no confirmed update to A9s yet

Hi!
Given the fact that this phone is pretty recent, I hope we can get a Nougat update soon. :good:
Besides I'm very happy with it. It's a really good cellphone. I paid it 199€.
Good value for the price I think.

But what's mean LTU ?

I don't think this device will see any updates at all. I mean security patch level is from September 2016. The firmware on the device is the last one they provided to their beta testers ( I'm one as well). They managed to fix plenty of issues during those test months (weekly updates) but since release this device is forgotten.
The Helio P10 can run Nougat fine, as seen on some Sony handsets with the same SoC.
Don't get your hopes up.

I think that too we don't get nougat. But now we even don't have any custom ROM or TWRP

Does someone Know if this Device gets Nougat? Maybe even this Month?

Hey Guys!
I'm now too an Proud Owner of an HTC One A9!
Before I bought it, I read on some Websites that
After the HTC 10, the M9 and our A9 will get Nougat.
I also seen that HTC has broken their 15 Days Update Promise :-/ but that was Last Year. So, are their any
Updates if the Device will get Nougat and when?
Greetings.

Do we know which region are we talking about?

VPN for update?

Hey guys, so a friend of mine has a One Plus 3 but he didn't recived the update yet. So he utilized a vpn to connect to servers from Canada and UK and he got the update.
Has some one claimed that he got the update from sweden, if there are any possibility to connect to another area to look for that update. Specially in sweden

Sadly that won't work unless you have a device from that region or you're running the previous firmware from that region. The OP3 isn't region specific, so he can get the update from any region. The Honor 8 though has various models for each region of the world. (L04/L14 US, L09 EU, etc)

Ohh I see, thanks for responding. That is sad tho :/
You shouldn't need to connect to the device OEM's server via a VPN in order to get updates for your device. As OTA OS updates are sent to each device dependent on their model number and the regional OS settings.
if you know the update version just download it online and manually install it?

I don't know why everybody is in such a hurry to upgrade their OS from Marshmallow to Nougat. When Nougat is only available for a handful of devices at the moment. The majority of the other Nougat release are still in the Beta cycle and have numerous bugs that have yet to be addressed yet.

Just wait till you notice that allot of features that were in Marshmallow are missing in the Nougat Beta. While the performance maybe slightly better than Marshmallow. Nougat still isn't ready for retail use on the Honor 8 yet.

I haven't faced a single issue. Plus I'm not a guy for complaining about features. I buyer the Honor 8 because of speed. And that's what I'm getting.

It's because the Nougat on this phone means EMUI 5 and it's 10x better than EMUI 4.1 .. trust me
it's a much better phone on Nougat EMUI5 ( Even Beta) BTW I think the current B360 for the L04 is the final Beta.
It will go live in the next 4 or 5 weeks. (Huawei is really slow)

B360 is definitely a fully functional build. I have yet to find anything broken and it even includes Vulkan api. As said above, EMUI 5.0 is miles ahead of EMUI 4.1. It's a much better and cleaner looking UI.

AH! I forgot that the new version of EMUI is better than the current version. It's the same with most android device OEMs.

Exclusive: Samsung stops Galaxy S8 Android 8.0 release, new version being developed

Samsung started rolling out the much-awaited Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+ last week. As promised, the update was first released to members of the beta program before it was rolled out to non-beta devices earlier this week. The update had only been sent out in a handful of markets but in a rather unexpected turn of events, Samsung has stopped the Galaxy S8 Android 8.0 Oreo update release..

yep, that was rather weird, almost felt like the finger to the community or users,
not sure what is all behind this rather unconventional name though
Well, it looks like anyone on Carrier Branded firmware (me) is in for a long wait, if a problem has been found in the firmware, it will set everyone back.

According to the post, it shouldn't be a problem for anyone who has already updated. It would be ideal if they let people know why though.
Well, ive already flashed trough Odin the Spain PHE version into my Portuguese phone using the tutorial to make the necessaries workarounds.
So far im very happy.
The phone is very stable and much more fluid and quick than Nougat
Nothing to complaint so far!!!
Now I know the reason why it is lablled as CRAP.
They probably want to prevent rolling back to nougat bootloader for those that use that loophole to root and not have to wait 7 days for oem lock to appear.

it's a shame to samsung, we consumers pay a fortune for a mobile phone, and we have to wait 2 years for an OS update

The last 5 characters of the firmware version are: numeric for BL version, alphanumeric for the phone’s Samsung Experience/major update (C means third major update to the initial release of the phone), alphanumeric for the year (Q is 2017, R is 2018), alphanumeric for month (technically alphabetic, A to K), and alphanumeric for non-test-build of the given month.
So 1CRAP is: bootloader v1, third major release, 2018, january, P release.

Apparently the only reason they stoped the rollout of oreo was that it was causing some devices to reboot. That's what I've been reading has anyone had that problem?

I should be getting a couple of the 8gb/256 versions from China in a couple of weeks if i can provide any help. A friend is bringing them back for me after his 2 week trip that started just yesterday.
Wow, that is a first! Possibly a version of TWRP for this phone but no one has it yet to try it out on.. haha.
By the way, when anyone gets one, try out the GPS L1/L5 and see what the accuracy is. The Mi8 had a software glitch and it sounds like it is fixed now. I am just curious if mix 3 has the L1/L5 bands like they claim it has. Create a thread ... GPS Accuracy ... or something like that.

Just a question for everyone here... the phone is the Chinese version right? With TWRP we should be able to flash the Global Rom when it becomes available? Did I jump the gun ordering the Chinese unit or will I be OK?
I'm expecting mine Friday Saturday fingers crossed, will let you know when it appears.
I ordered mine from gearbest on the 5th. It said it would should around November 12-15. The description on gearbest didn't say anything about the rom bring Chinese or global

[emoji1] in Europe we are still on december 2017 ...
HTC doesn't deserve our support anymore...
At least in Europe.
I got that update here in the states but I'm wondering when will give us 9.0 pie
This is the reason why I convert my European model to TW device...

I'm still on December 2017(EU). My last phone from HTC, that's for sure. Next year i will buy an One Plus.

Short story before I get to my question.
I have a U11+ bought direct off HTC in Hong Kong.
I have had no updates since Dec 2017.
Wrote to HTC in Europe about the lack of updates and got this amazing reply:
------------------
Thank you for contacting HTC.
In regards to your enquiry about updates, kindly note that after running the serial number provided, your device ship country is Hong Kong.
Which means, it is not from EU region, and devices from the Asian region most of them cannot be updated and have no option to update.
------------------
Soo I checked through the XDA forums seems the TW version of the phone is the only one that gets regular updates.
Then I unlocked bootloader and downloaded HTC_U11+_TW_1.24.709.93_Images_OTA from nene bear.
I didn't install TWRP as I was going to return to stock and just be happy with the updates hopefully coming from the TW version.
all went smooth thanks to all the excellent posts and help on the forum.
378 fastboot flash -S 1G system system.img
379 fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
380 fastboot flash boot boot.img
oh and I relocked my bootloader
Yesterday I got a message about new update (I'm currently on Vodafone in Ireland)
I downloaded but it wouldn't install see the 2 screenshots.
ahh can't post the screenshots because i'm a new guy
its says:
cant update cause i may be running a modified version of system software....
I wonder is that because i turned of the boot lock once?
Or is this because of my CID is still HKG ??
I'm going to fire up fasboot and try and side load the update I downloaded from nene bear as I don't have root access and i couldn't find the update on the phone
I saw an interesting thread from handsome_hell about changing cid
Would the TW version or the WWE version the best for updates.
RGDS W
I have both TW and EU version of HTC-U11+ (both rooted with Magisk 18.0) and will apply OTA on TW only when RUU will be available (as I had - probably self-caused - problems during previous update of TW version).
I am not too advanced but AFAIK the phone needs to be "s-off" to change the CID to apply other region version updates smoothly, which is not available yet for HTC-U11+ (maybe I am wrong).
I hope for the EU version updates a "shortcut" directly to Android 9.0 (which was announced for HTC-U11+), otherwise the neglect of EU updates is really weired.
Today I got an answer from HTC support why European version U11+ did not get security updates ...
Sorry for for the answer but we can't say why 11+ is not getting security updates.
That's all [emoji1787]
Okay. I switched to a Pixel 3, great device and just the right size compared to the U11+ for me.
Bye HTC. Great devices wasted by a poor support...

Ah Thanks for the reply
I did have further conversations with HTC customer service regarding updates they said this:
------------------------------------
note that your phone is due to receive Android Pie very soon and this will be communicated via system notification message on your phone once the update is available for your phone, we are sorry for any inconvenience.
------------------------------------
It still doesn't explain the lack of regular security updates on the U11+ but my friends U11 has had 2 or 3 updates bought the same time as my U11+
I tried to get into recovery last night but got a red triangle Ill try it again later, got into the bootloader and download mode fine.
Think Ill end up going down the TWRP and Magisk route and change the CID just a bit more reading up to do.
Rgds
u11 + model is selling in taiwan because the small updates take that region. I think he's looking at the sales figures. But if it's just Taiwan for the update, it won't be able to sell anywhere except Taiwan. International brand, will be the domestic brand.
