I Have a SM-G920P that only boots into safe mode, i've tried lifting the volume down button up thinking it was stuck causing it to boot into safe mode, but no luck. The volume does not go down at all while using the phone nor can you use the volume down button.
what can i do? i've been searching high an low, im very limited in safe mode with what i can do with this phone.
can i root it? can i remove a file that registers the volume down button? any help would be greatly appreciated!
also this phone is a sprint phone, i no longer have sprint. this phone has a bad imei and is no longer under warranty or any repair service.
anything? is this just a paper weight?
Sounds like you have a hardware related issue here, unless you can get that fixed there's not much else you can do.

Ok, so I bought this phone as a project, it will boot fine to the lock screen, but I think the digitizer is jacked, but I want to test other things just to make sure. For instance I try to go into recovery mode by holding vol down and power and get nothing. So i dont know if the button is bad or I am not doing something right. Or if fast boot could be the cause, I cant get to menu to see if it is on. Also is there a way to get debugging on without using the phone? I'm guessing no, but I could do alot more to the phone if it was on.
Anyways. Any advice, or suggestions?
pull the battery, put it back, then try to get into recovery, and w/o usb debug or root, its very difficult to do anything with it in its current state
EDIT* also, its the button is having problems, the nice thing is that you can actually access the button itself under the volume rocker, to see if its an actual button hardware issue
Nope, battery pull didn't work, still booted normally. blah.
check my last post edited with something that might help
Long story short I was trying to install a new ROM via CWM and it would never actually overwrite my recovery image (when restarting in recovery mode I would always see the OEM screen with blue text). After doing some searching the interwebz I found someone with the same issue and it was suggested to Re-Partition their phone. I found a PIT file and I ran it using Odin, only after it was complete the phone will not even turn on. It won't power up using the power button, it won't go into recovery mode, it won't go into download mode. It is COMPLETELY not working!!!!
Am I royally screwed? Do I have any options than just to tell T-mobile that it stopped working and pay my $150 deductible to get a new one????
If its completely cant turn on, your phone is definitely bricked. Well you should go to the store and act dumb. Just to wish you good luck just in case they found you voided your phone's warranty
After doing some more googling around I found that I was able to get some red assembly text to come up on the screen by holding Vol up, Home, and Power simultaneously. The computer played its USB found chime, and then I was able to power off and get into Download mode.
Hi guys, my s6 edge keeps bootlooping in safe mode, because the volume down is stuck. The problem though it's not with the actual button, but with the phone's motherboard. Does anyone have a hardware or software solution, ie permanently disable safe mode?
Cheers

Hardware related man, take it to service
Hi folks. I've got a problem that I don't see anything quite matching in here. I have a Straight Talk/Verizon GS7. Last night I installed an app do to USB tethering on it. It worked great for the testing. After I disconnected and it sat idle for a while, I heard a notification sound and the blue light started flashing. I push the home key and the "back" and "window" key lit up, but the screen is black.
So here's what I've tried so far.
I tried to hold the power button to turn the phone off. Nothing.
I can soft reset by holding volume down and power. I get the splash screens for GS7, Samsung and TracFone. Then BSOD.
I can't get safe mode. I can't get recovery mode.
I can get to download mode. "Volume down, home, power"
The phone has developer tools turned on and USB debugging is enabled. Is there a way to do anything helpful from download mode? I'm not too concerned about losing data, so flashing a new ROM is fine by me.

hi
Seem like flashing a new firmware may be the reasonable option...
Try flashing first with home_csc if you know what your CSC is at the moment..that way you may avoid losing your data
if that option is off the table...then use CSC and flash/ format your phone...

Pay attention to step 6 if you use CSC
Thank you for the response. While I was downloading the ROM I came across "Vysor" and was able to use it to control the phone. Using it I was able to get the phone to power off and get into recovery mode. I wiped the cache partition and uninstalled the Tether app and all is good now. Now I just have to decide whether or not to cancel the RMA that Straight Talk is sending me...

great to know you solved.
If you know what caused the problem and fix it , i would keep the phone you have , was new when you got it right?
Hi, my phone is stuck in safe mode, since I had it in water and it got water damaged causing the vol buttons and power button not to work properly. Here comes the question - is there any way to overcome safe mode? I tried every possible solution there was, even factory resetting didn't do anything. Help would be appreciated.
