Hey,
3 days ago my mobile Internet flatrate ran out, I don't really think that this has anything to do with this but I try to provide as much information as I can.
My Nexus S was bought December last year and never really had any problems.
But now for 3 Days I have to charge that thing every damn day and the battery only lasts 18-19 hours instead of 2+ days. I haven't really used the phone in the last 3 days except from recieving calls and using whatsapp.
I have also not installed any apps in this time.
Here a screenshot from my current battery live. (Seems to be always awake)
(ICS 4.0.4 Rooted, Stock Kernel, Stock Launcher.)
Thank you guys in advance!
What does it say is the top consumer of power on the battery usage percent chart. We can't help you very much without that. Also, grab BetterBatteryStats. That will help tremendously as it can damn near narrow it down to a single culprit.

Oh damn haven't even looked at it.
Says 45% Whattsapp
32% Google Services
will download better Batterystats now. But first I will just reinstall whatsapp.
EDIT: I just reinstalled Whatsapp and will now wait what the battery says in a few hours before I buy betterbatterystats.
Thank you so far, will report back.
Yeah. Those two are probably trying to "phone home" constantly, thus causing a drain. That may be what the issue is. From the looks of it, it looks like your signal isn't stellar either. How good is Whatsapp over EDGE speeds? The 3g connection just might not be strong enough, trying to search for a signal and also draining the battery.

Your guess is quite good, because in my room and ONLY in my room there are some severe problems with network connectivity for almost everyone.
(But battery life was good just a few days ago?)
I currently have no mobile Internet and only use WLAN. Just disconnected phone from charger and will now see how it runs.

If you have "no mobile Internet" and WiFi is off (as in screenshot), this is your issue. The android processes are trying to re-connect keeping your phone from deep sleep. In Mobile Network Settings, disable Data. Turn on WiFi, and set Keep WiFi on during sleep to Always. When you are out of WiFi range, disable background sync.
I've noticed something on 4.0, at least in my case. Huge wake locks for no reason in airplane mode. The phone home thing is most likely the cause. Google must have changed something in the way their apps operate because this never happened in gingerbread for me.
Well, so I have observed it a little more and battery usage by google services is now up to 70%.
Thank you for the suggestions I'll try now.
But why the hell does this issue come just now? I have 4.0.4 since it came out and the issue just appeared about 5 days ago.
I wish I knew. I've got mine in airplane mode now, but no SIM in it. I've got a G2 as my daily driver now. The Nexus hasn't had any more of the airplane mode wakeups strangely enough though. Wish I knew what was actually causing mine.

So to report back again, I tried SpookyTunes suggestion for one cycle of battery life.
Then after recharging I went into the app management and force-stopped the google services framework and deleted the cached files afterwards.
So now I'm back to 3% battery usage (from Google Services Framework) for the last hour.
I would give it more time to see what it uses over the course of the day.

Okay just to deliver on my part and report back.
Here's a screenshot of my battery life now.
Google Service isn't even shown in the battery list anymore!
any news????
I have always used Better Battery Stats to monitor battery life and wakelocks, etc, but without root it's stats are limited. It does show how much time the phone "sleeps", and so far my phone is "awake" 100% of the time. I initially enabled almost everything but am wondering if everyone is experiencing the same?
I'm having cell standby battery drain
Yep same. Phone refuses to sleep. Probably the cause of battery drain. Hoping they release some sort of update to fix that.

I'm sorry... I'm posting this from memory... But I think I saw somewhere that this is caused by the voice over Wi-Fi. In your phone settings turn off calls over Wi-Fi or something like that.

I had heard that as well in the main S6 forum but I don't see a wifi calling option on the vzw variant. Am I missing that or is it only present on the international version?

I think it's called VoLTE or something. I'm still waiting on my 128gb version so I can't check for you.

VoLTE is Verizon's HD voice. Don't know how that would cause cell standby issue. I'm having issue as well and it sucks.

Right, its not enabled by default either so I'd think that rules it out as a culprit.
Something is certainly going on though to have these high cell standby times. May require an update from the powers that be to fix this. Aside from disabling everything on the phone which isn't happening.
But if its a big that's prevalent in the tmobile version as well, it may very well be the same bug depending on how Verizon chopped the feature from the software.

Yeah it seems likely it's an issue that will be fixed across the board if it does get fixed. I'm hoping it happens in the first 14 days while I'm in trial, cuz otherwise I'm not sure if I'll keep it or not. Strange thing is some people seem way less affected though. And that's coming from a guy that typically has full or near full bars at both work and home so I'm certainly not in a fringe area by any means. Idk?
I have full bars all the time data disabled and I still get it
I had cell standby issues all weekend. Last night I turned off VoLTE ("Advanced Calling") on mine, and turned off cell data altogether while at home on Wifi. I was going to test it all day today like that, but this morning I thought, "No, this is dumb, if I can't use VoLTE the phone is worthless as I need simultaneous voice/data". So I turned it all back on, and Cell Standby isn't even on my battery life screen now. And it's had plenty of time to show up... Right now I'm at 50% battery life, 1.5 hours SOT, and 6 hours on battery total. My problem is Google Play Services is killing me - also a new problem since yesterday, and I have no idea what's behind it.
Cell standby is eating my lunch (and battery), too. 20% of my battery utilization, and my phone is running hot. The latter makes me think it's some app causing both the consumption and the heat, but darned if I know why.

It seems there are two things that might fix that - turning off wifi completely, and wiping cache (boot into recovery [vol-up + home + power]). Have you tried either of those yet?

No wifi isn't really an option, so I've wiped cache. I'll report back. Thanks!
Reporting back: no difference. This is a bug, as reported many places. Might be a deal-breaker for me, coupled with the prospect of no root. Might have to swap to the Motorola device.
Hey guys. I recently bought a GS6 and I love everything about the phone....except the battery! This is literally a deciding factor for me vs the iPhone 6.
I know it has a quad HD screen but my battery drains WHEN THE SCREEN IS OFF. My provider (T-Mobile) says one reason could be that I used all my data (T-Mobile just slows down your speeds). This can also mean it's constantly searching for a better signal. Sometimes I don't get reception indoors but usually my reception is good.
Now, I would understand if my battery was dropping IF I had the screen on, but it's not. It's dropping a percent every 2-3 minutes.
Anyone have this issue and can combat it? My data plan reloads in two days so I can see if it gets better but if not, I will be switching to an iPhone....
Thanks in advance.

Wow 1% every couple minutes? That is abysmal. Have you tried a factory reset?
If yes, have you installed something like GSam or Better Battery Stats to figure out what is using your battery?

Well, okay, honestly not THAT much but it drains really frequently...my phone will drain from 100% to 95% in about an hour/hour and a half without screen on time and only wifi connected. I have not tried those options.

Definitely a rogue app. Check battery stats and if google play services are high, you could try clearing data on it.

If you're on T Mobile I've read about a really nasty WiFi bug that's draining the battery. Try turning off WiFi calling. I'm in Canada and we don't have that here (I don't think) but it should be under settings-wifi-more. From there you'll have to find it.
I've also read turning off VoLTE makes a difference. Again, Canada, and we don't have it so I can't say for sure if it helps. To turn that off open your dialer, click more and it should be tucked away in your settings. Good luck!

Thank you for the reply! I have disabled wifi calling and VoLTE and yes, I am on USA T-Mobile and many seem to be having this issue. They say Lollipop 5.1.1 will alleviate this issue and I really hope it does because I love this phone but hate the battery.
Guys, found a really nice debloater tool you can use on stock too!

I just need to know which ones to remove (or a list of what app does what now so I can remove it)
Dear all,
I have a Pixel 2 and am having some issue with battery life. Some days, it is crazy good: I leave my phone at 100% before going to bed, and I find it at 100% when I wake up in the morning (about 7 h of deep sleep for both me and the phone). Some other days, I lose about 40% over the same period of time. In both situations, I don't touch the phone from when I go to bed until morning. Bluetooth is disabled, WiFi and Mobile are enabled. My WiFi router is always on and I have very good cellular signal.
I thought that a rough app/wakelock could be the culprit but, using BetterBatteryStats, I have not been able to find any. The only unusual "process" seems to be one that is called "No Data Connection" and "No or Unknonw Signal", which show up as 87%, whatever that means.
Does anybody have any ideas as to what could be the source of the problem?
Many thanks!

Losing 40% charge in standby mode is a serious issue. Could be a defective battery. Why don't you return the phone to the store you bought from and get a new one?
Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
Maybe you have dodgy mobile coverage where you are? If signal is weak or in/out of service any phone will use a lot more power trying to stay connected to a tower it can find. You may also experience that a phone seems to 'camp on' to a tower with a weak signal (consuming more power) even when it sometimes finds a stronger one from the same location.
No solution, other than to move!
I didn't experience any of this with my, now, old Nexus 5x, so I'd say that mobile coverage is unlikely to be the cause.

I also get either 0% or 0.1% overnight drain as well. But what are you looking at in BBS? I usually look at partial wakelocks and alarms. Next time that happens take a look. Once on my Pixel I lost that amount and as it turns out a news app was running a video all night long. I sincerely doubt it's a defective battery but rather a rogue app and that's why a reboot fixes it. Push comes to shove you will have to head over to the BBS forum and post a log file. There are instructions in the OP.
Hi!
My Huawei P20 is draining very fast when connected to my wireless network. I get like 20-30% drain overnight, which is huge. When using mobile data I lose like 4-5% (when I first got the phone I was having this percents on wifi also, after some time the drain started to happen) which I think it's pretty good.
Has anyone else encountered this issue?

I still didn't find a fix for this. There are some times when the phone works well, and others when the battery drain fast. If the phone runs out of battery and closes, when I charge it, the next couple of days it drains fast on wifi, after this it works well again.
It is a software problem for sure, but don't know what is causing this. My firmware is 9.1.0.371
I think the optimiser switches off WiFi and there is a reason for that
