Hello there.
Since there is no section dedicated to E5 General Issues, I'm writing here.
Last week my sister's Xperia E5 (which was bought new for Christmas) started to behave improperly.
When charged, it randomly turns itself off due to 'Critical battery' even if it had over 40% seconds before. The phone isn't hot, not even warm.
At times it does not charge at all - everything is plugged but the phone does not take power.
When connected to PC, it does not lose connection.
Always used original Sony charger and cable, tried charging it with LG charger and cable - same thing happens.
Already have tried repairing via the Xperia Companion, which I think reverted everything to factory settings - the issue still persists.
Anything I can do?

Sounds like a hardware issue. Try a new battery, if that doesn't fix it then there is an issue with the device itself, if it's under warranty you can return it or have it exchanged for a new one.

It is under warranty, so I think I'll go straight this way and skip playing with the battery.
Thank you.

My Nexus S was working perfectly and running JellyBean (Was just updated). One morning, I woke up and saw the phone powered off. I tried to turn it on but it didn't. I plugged it to the charger, it just becoming hot without any luck in turning it on. What do you think, guys?!!
Try pulling the battery out while it's unplugged. Then see if you can turn it on after putting the battery back in.

Try another battery and if that fails then i guess its bricked.:crying:
Maybe a faulty battery or a poor charger? A phone heating up while charging is not strange, but it should be able to boot. Try to charge for 10 minutes and than disconnect and try to boot.
I pulled the battery many times but it didn't work.
Also, I charged it for more than three hours; but no luck in turning it on.
So, is it bricked?
if u plug usb to comp and nexus s , and if your screen is black, you are bricked.. and you motherboard is dead..
Both my PC and Mac don't recognize it. I tried unbricking it using Adam tool, but the device cannot be found.
I think the time has come for buying a new phone...even though I liked the Nexus s.
the same happen to me!!
Try pulling the battery out for about 15 - 30 minutes and then plug in the phone but dont turn it on just leave it to charge, see if that works
I tried doing everything possible on this forum....even the unbrickable tool....but no luck in retrieving my phone....
I liked the phone...but, there is no google devices stores in my country and no one can fix it (even Samsung, they say they cannot supprot such devices)
I think I'll end up buying another phone :crying:
Thanks guys for your support
Have tried using Odin? It has brought my phones back from soft brick on many occasions.

very similar thing happened to me. i have connected cable (via AC charger and via usb from computer) and phone is getting hot. especially the sim card area.
i can not start the phone. this happened just after power button failure.
Hi OP,
What ROM/Kernel/Tweaks were you running before this has happened what. Model was your Nexus S and how long did you have it.
I have no recommendations for you unfortunately but just wondering out of curiosity.
Thx
Try a new battery already.
Let me lay down the story first:
It all started when I tried out multiROM for the LG G3. I was running cm12 perfectly fine, unlocked and everything. Amazing battery life. But MultiROM barely worked, even though I followed the instructions exactly, I had many errors trying to get anything to boot properly. I got help with it, but ended up getting rid of multirom via internal storage (where it was) and flashing a normal, non modified TWRP 2.8.4.0. This is where stuff starts getting weird.
After getting rid of multiROM and flashing cm12 again from backup, I noticed my phone wouldn't take a charge at all. It was booted up and running at about 30% battery. My PC wouldnt do anything when I plugged it into my computer, too. I thought it was just Cyan being weird, so I rebooted into twrp and tried plugging in. No buzz, still wouldn't take a charge. For some reason, turning the phone off and plugging in the charger while it was off actually turned it on. So the charging port has to be working, the phones just being weird... but then I decided to smell the charging port. Smells like pure burning electronics. I rebooted the phone with the cable plugged in, and it boots up and charges. This is odd, because i can no longer plug the cable in while the phone is on, i have to reboot it with the cable in now in order to get it to charge. I tried flashing back to stock ROM, and same exact issue happens. Not only that, but the battery no longer holds a charge for more than a day on one full charge. It lasts about 3-4 hours now.
Please, xdaers, help a brotha out. I'm really pissed about whatever the hell is happening to my G3. It still works fine, I just have to reboot it with the cable in in order to get it to charge at all and the battery life sucks on top of that.
Note: One time after all this happened, the phone died fully. Plugging the charger in, the battery logo was flashing on and off. I tried multiple cables and chargers with the same problem. I pulled out the battery with the cable still in, and the battery logo actually stayed on the screen and once I put the battery back in, it charged again. THIS IS MAJORLY CONFUSING and hard to explain so I will clarify my issue if you are confused with my post.
Also, the phone likes to get really hot and die fast by itself even without the charger plugged in now.
thanks guys
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA assist. Please standby while we have your thread/question moved to the appropriate sub-forum for your device.
For future reference you can find your device sub-forum here (bookmark/subscribe this):

Good luck!
So you flashtooled back to stock? And still persists? If so you next option is to buy both a battery and a charging port and do some trouble shooting.

Don't know about the charging port, but as far as battery life I'm getting the same thing, except mine lasts about 2 hours, I've decided I'm selling the phone while its still worth a bit of money, probably getting a Note 2 or Xperia Z2, I've been very unhappy with this phone, also my battery cover is falling apart and cracking,

Well I've had none of your problems. Note 2 or z2 is a downgrade. Have fun with that... Sucks your experience hasn't been a good one. Cheers

I get 13+ hours with 4 to 5 hours screen on time and 1to 2 hours of talk time. So I don't think your battery issue is normal for this phone. You have either a defective battery or phone or an app that is misbehaving.
I'm having the exact same problem with LG G3.
Can only charge when rebooted. And even then the charge indicator does not show charging.
I have to go into setting->battery where it shows 'charging'
I have tried new battery and cleaning port.
Anyone figure this out...?
My battery drained very fast before too after backed up to stock, but after I upgraded to 5.0, my phone can lives up to next morning!

Hello,
I went out last Friday and came home late. My phone is out of battery and dead. I plugged it in and woke up the next day with a dead phone. Apparently, there is a bug with the OPO. If the battery is too low, it won't even charge after you plug it in for charging. I have tried all tricks and even contact the OPO Tech Support Team. This thread describes how horrible they are:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/tech-support-onepluse-one-horrible-t3084022
I am at my wit's end. I have tried all the the tricks. This is a thread that I found that seems to have the same problem as I have.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/help/oneplusone-phone-dead-t3079256
The only choice I have left is to open the phone, disconnect the battery connection and reconnection it again. Hoping it will recharge. However, there is a warranty sticker and I don't want OPO to deny my warranty. I am not new to Android and I have fixed phones before. I also think of buying a new OPO battery and switch it with the factory one. Since the new battery will be charged, I think that will work in fixing it. But, doing that is much more complicate and it requires me to remove more components. If you have a good working solution for my problem, please help.
NOTE: please don't ask me to check my charger or use a different one. I check it 1000 times already. The original charger works, the cable works. I use different chargers and cables. Same result.
Thank you for your help.
Have you rooted and unlocked? I had the same problem when I got mine at first. It would show charging but never fully charge. 73% was all it would do. So after rooting and flashing a custom kernel the problem went away. Now I can go back to stock and the problem has never comeback. Maybe just a small software glitch or something. I'm just happy it's gone!

The phone is unlocked and rooted. The issue is not fully charged or not. The issue here is the phone does not charge after the battery die. The phone is dead because I let the battery run to 0. When I plug it to recharge, the low battery screen does not even come up. The phone is dead and refuse to recharge. There is no issue with the charger or the charging cable. I have checked it several time already. I am very frustrated with OPO Tech Support right now.
I see. Only other thing I can think of is try holding the power button for 60 seconds while it's plugged in. That does suck man.
I had similar issue, my conclusion is the bootloader charging function is broken.
Basically I would start the charging, it would charge for about 10 seconds or so, and then stop. I thought my battery was dead.
I couldnt boot the os as wasnt enough charge.
So eventually I just kept repeating the process, 10 seconds charge at a time, and eventually had enough juice to boot android and after that point it charged to full ok.
Never had this issue on any of my samsung phones.
Also to point out when it went dead it was plugged into my pc usb at the time with twrp loaded.
The problem:
My Z3 isn't charging at all, it's showing the charging screen and the red led is glowing for a few seconds, then it's turning off, showing the charging screen and the red led for a few seconds, turning off and repeats that without actually charging the phone. I can't turn it on, but I am able to get into flashmode by holding down the volume button and connecting it to my pc.
I already flashed the stock image. It's rooted and was running the latest official image. Locked Bootloader.
A few days ago it started changing the battery status every few minutes. Going from 12 to 50%, staying on it for a few minutes, going back to 20, to 6, just random numbers.
I used it today when it suddenly powered off. Despite being charged for one and a half hour in my car with the dock connector. Since then I am not able to turn it on or charge it.
What I already did:
Testing multiple chargers and cables, incl dock connector.
Tried to backup it with adb console, however it can't connect to my device. But I have zero experience with ADB, so I tried the flash tool from androxyde. It's connecting in flashmode and I was able to flash a stock image.
Am I able to backup the phone from the flashmode?
If not, am I able to wipe it so the service isn't able to view my personal data?
I hope somebody can help me :crying:
I was able to charge the phone now, I used both, the dock connector AND the USB connector cable. I don't know if it's damaging the battery but it seems to be broken anyway. Still giving out random numbers (was normal until it went past 10%, now it's jumping between 50% and the real number.
Sad thing is, I wiped all the data on the phone. Good thing is, if it wouldn't have turned on, nobody would be able to see my personal data.
It's time to give it to a service point I guess. I hope I get a new phone btw, seemed to have a faulty antenna as well the last weeks.
Dear Androidpeople,
Since November, I am the glad owner of the Samsung Galaxy S6. I am a really Samsung fan, I have had the S2, S3, S4 and now the S6. The previous two weeks I had some charging issues. In particular, sometimes I had to plug in the cable three times before it really 'connected' and started charging. I tried it after that with another Samsung cable and this problem was solved. The day before yesterday I was planning to charge my phone and when I attached the cable to the phone it only started to charge after the phone was already 10 minutes connected.
Till this issues I didn't see that much problems. Every morning my phone was with al my problems, fully charged. Since yesterday, the big problem started. My phone was complete dead/0% battery. I wanted to charge my phone and I got this error: (I got the error in Dutch and tried to translate it, as best as I could)
Cannot charge phone
"The device is stopped charging. De battery temperature is too high. Be careful with disconnecting your charger. It could be very hot."
"When you disconnect the charger and reconnect is afterwards, you could possibly proceed charging your phone. If this overheating issue keeps existing, please contact our customer service because of risk of fire and injuries."

I have never had a problem of this kind. My phone and charger were both fully cold. I spoke with a guy at Vodafone and he told me this should be a case of warranty of Samsung/Vodafone. The problem now is, back-up.
The device is 0% charged, I could not charge it anymore and when I turned my phone on, it directly turned off. Now did I try to charge it yesterday and last night with multiple chargers. This morning it suddenly was 13% charged. So i quickly ran to my laptop to connect my device with it and start back-upping photos. But after connecting it tries to charge and I get the same error as i mentioned above. If I just look on the device itself every app is blocked for 'safety reasons' except 'Phone' and 'Contacts'. I cannot look into the Gallery, Dropbox or Onedrive. The device connecting with the laptop was not helpful. The laptop does not recognize any phone connected to it. So copying files from the laptop and the phone are not working. It looks the end of the possible solutions but maybe I forgot something.
Things tried tot fix it:
- Three different chargers
- Two different laptops
- Two different data cables
- Connecting via power, via laptop via the power bank.
- Cleared Dalvik Cache.
When I let him pick up by Vodafone they will try to fix the issue, but I will lose every photo from it. I know I should make a backup earlier. But that is talking now. Is there maybe one solution, one clever thing, one special tweak I could do to save my photo? Or should I start my grieving process?
