S7 dead? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hi,
I have a stock S7. While browsing my photos, my phone suddenly crashed, immediately into the download (odin) mode. I cannot get it into recovery (or to shut down for that matter)
Vol.down+main button+pwr reboots the phone, it quickly shows the galaxy s7 logo and then goes right back to download mode.
So I waited for the battery to drain. Soon as I plug it into usb, again it goes right into download mode. If I press the recovery combination, it does nothing.
Anyone had this problem? Is it dead/hardware problem?
Thanks!

Try reflashing your stock firmware throught odin. If that dont fix it. Then a possiblity of bad hardware. But id try that first

So to go to download mode close tab completly then press and hold on vol down with power untill screen appears then realeas both and click vol up thats it
To go to recovery mode shut off tab completly then press and hold vol up and power once screen appears leave power but continue holding vol up untill screen goes off then release vol up and wait a second and u will be in recovery mode

i tried doing that but nothing happens, it just shows charging icon, btw, i 've done this before, i mean going to download mode when i first root my tab 2, but now when im planning to upgrade my firmware i can't go to download mode. i think there's problem with my tablet? what you think? im going on download mode not connected to usb or charger.
its kinda irrelevant, but its just strange things with my tablet, when discharged, the battery icon, shows the x sign, when i turn off my tablet, shows charging state even if im not charging..

No need to worry you have not hard bricked. The problem is with your ace+ power button. If you have warranty then go to service center they can fix it. If you are out of warranty then you can go to a local mobile repair shop and ask there for repair of power button.
I saw the same issue on my friend's ace plus and replacing the power button worked.

it could explain a lot but if its the power button, why his device shut down?
as i know, if the power button doesn't work doesn't mean it shouldn't boot

[Q] Help 10.1 stuck at Samsung logo!

Hi, my Samsung note 10.1 is stuck at the start logo. I googled it and looked at solutions on this site but my situation seems more hopeless than others I've read about. Firstly, I have never rooted this and it should be running ICS. I had left my (working) tablet for about 10 hours and tried to activate the screen when I picked it up. I pressed the power button which gave me the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 logo which stayed on the screen and wouldn't budge but when I held the power and volume buttons, it would go off after 4 or five seconds only to come on again. I have looked at these and other forums and have tried a hard re-set but I just get the same logo appearing again and again. I couldn't actually turn it off, so I opened it and disconnected the battery. This has made no difference. I removed the SD card while I tried every permutation of pressing buttons but all to no avail. Please help. Is this now permanently dead? I would love to do a re-set and don't care about losing stuff but that doesn't work.????
Thanks for reading this....

Yes, that's the method to get into download mode. You need to press them both at the same time.

When you press the On/Off + Volume Up buttons at the same time you need to hold them until the writing shows up. Once you see the Samsung logo then let the buttons go. If you release the buttons before that the device will just do a regular boot instead.

I have the exact same issue, stuck at screen, also just got it yesterday. I believe it is due to kitkat OTA, as I was running 4.1.2 and was not planning to update. I think the tablet somehow updated itself.
---------- Post added at 01:14 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:16 PM ----------
I also tried flashing various recovery, including the stock recovery, TWRP, CWM. The furthest I get to the recovery is the android boot logo, and it reboots back to the "Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1" logo screen
I think it would be fine if I can hard reset the device, but no dice for now.
Going to try flashing older 4.1.2 rom later. Hope that works.

Thanks for this, it would explain why my 10.1 suddenly became useless without me doing anything to it. I've read that the KIt Kat update was only made available to the wi-fi and 3G versions and that installing it on the Wi-Fi only could brick it!
Can you point me in the direction of a guide to trying what you've done? Otherwise this is going back to Samsung to fix for silly money, no doubt.
Turn off the tablet completely. Then, press the Volume Up and On/Off buttons at the same time for a few seconds until you see the writings come up (most likely the Samsung logo). As soon as you see the writings let the buttons go. That will get you into the Recovery mode. Do a Factory Reset and reboot.
You have to set up everything after doing this but at least you'll get your tablet back.

Nope, apparently after asking around , mosts owners that bricked their device this way, can't enter recovery mode. It just shows the android logo that supposedly leads to the recovery option for a few secs, and restarts. I think its an issue with the new bootloader 4.4 is bundled with, that only afflicts a small number of devices. I even have a colleague at work that had the same problem after auto updating, but somehow after multiple reboots getting stuck at the logo screen, it now works properly, and boots up with 4.4 instead of the previous os.

Nope, thats my colleague's tablet. At my workplace, most use note 10.1 tablet, so i had a generous sampling. Most upgraded without incident, but some, like me and a few others, are all suffering the same issue. All within weeks of the kitkat update rollout i my country.

I still don't know why you can't get into the Recovery mode with the Vol. Up + On/Off?
Do you hold the buttons until you see the logo comes up or you let it go before that?

I have been using custom and stock recovery on my almost 2 year old note 10.1. Pretty sure I did not make a mistake pressing it, its just that the recovery mode loads and fail. I see the android recovery logo for a sec or two, then it reboots before showing the recovery menu. So this boot loop prevents most people from reseting/wipe from the recovery menu.
But its rather nonsensical to assume a guy who knows how to flash custom recovery on his almost 2 year old note 10.1 doesn't know how to enter the recovery mode, don't you think?

I agree. Well, I couldn't find any information regarding your situation. Sorry pal. I wish you luck.
I think that I can tell you an old experience I had. I was on stock Jelly Bean. It wasn't this type of a problem but maybe it might help somebody. Here's what happened:
I was using my tablet in the afternoon and I pressed the power button to close the screen. Then I left. After a while I came back and tried turning on my tablet. It wasn't turning on. It wasn't reacting to anything. Neither the power button, nor the charger. I searched online and found out that you could hold your finger on the screen while pressing the power button. And guess what! My tablet showed the charging screen. Then I just booted normally. My tablet was just like before!

I have been all over for days on this. I can get into odin mode, but it absolutely will not go into recovery mode. I ran Odin3 v3.0.7 and twrp, no luck, would just lock up. I ran Odin3 3.10.7 and sammmobile factory firmware. This says Pass! but it still just hitches at the title screen. I can't even get it to turn off. Only way is to run it dead or unplug the batt internally. Please help? Is there nothing I can do?

S7 Stuck during update

Hello,
I came home from work today and my girlfriend told me she had started an update on her phone which would not finish.
She thought it was stuck an rebooted it, several times, during the update.
Now the phone will not do anything other than reboot and restart the update again.
Which will become stuck on either 75% or 100%, in either case the wheel stops turning and nothing further happens.
No key combination whatsover is working, except power+volume down for reboot.
Holding the power key does nothing.
Holding power+volume up + home does nothing.
By this point the battery is empty, so the thing only stays with us when connected to my 2.4A power bank.
I can't connect it to my pc, since the USB port doesnt deliver enough power.
TL;DR: S7 stuck during update, cant get into recovery mode. What do?
P.S: Total stock phone, didn't flash anything, didn't root.

Please Help me

Hey guys,
I just bought the Samsung J4+ (SM-J415F) and now have a dead phone after flashing a firmware. It doesnt turn on. I cannot put it into recovery mode. The screen is always black. This is the order of events:
1. I succesfully flashed twrp + supersu (i followed the steps from this page: https://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...j415f-t3876876)
2. After doing that i had a bootloop.
3. I decided to flash the following rom to get rid of the bootloop: [up_vnROM.net]_J415FXXU1ARIK_J415FOJM1ARIK_EGY_8.1_FULL (https://www.firm-ware.com/2018/10/sa...-download.html)
4. This also worked successfully and i saw the android symbol for a few seconds. However, then the power went off. Now the phone is dead.
It seems like i can turn it on to download mode (screen still black tho) and connect it to odin (odin is recognizing the phone) but if i try to flash again it stucks on "setup connection". I am using odin 3.13.1. Yes I already tried to run odin as administrator but it didnt change anything.
Any ideas how to bring my phone back to life? Any help would be appreciated.

How are you getting to download mode?
It seems you are not actually in download mode, but the phone is in a semi booted state.

That will just reboot the device.
Plug the USB cable in then hold POWER + VOL UP + VOL DOWN.

Did you ensure the cable was attached to both device and pc?
If so I suggest you try another cable.

This will happen if your cable is not connected to both PC and device.
The device needs to detect it is connected to a PC.
I suggest changing the cable.
Secondly you can try booting to Recovery mode. (with cable out)
As soon as you see that flash hold POWER + VOL UP only until you see recovery mode.

try next. open odin do set things as ever,(ap,bl,cp,csc) then BEFORE you connect your phone, press vol+,vol-,power button in same time, then connect usb cabel.remember this three buttons must be press in same time when connected with usb.
