Cam results?

Hi,
I got CM 11S flashed on my Chinese OPO, boot loader unlocked and rooted.
But the cam results are terrible.
1. Front camera though 5MP has better results.
2. Main camera, in Auto mode wit Flash set at auto, doesn't flash in darkness, if for some reason it does the pic results are so dull, creamy unsharp, despite that its a 13MP.
3. Flash sensor issues?
4. I got great results with Color OS initially......... and later when previously flashed CM 11 S over Color, they weren't that bad either..........may be by chance the the Color cam got ported over CM 11S?
5. So disappointed plan on going back to Color.

Yeah, i'm not a fan of the camera. AT ALL.
Some things that bug me about the One's camera:
1) pictures look destaurated and color's don't pop.
2) exposure is too dark in almost all cases
3) sharpness is no where near my nexus's 5 stock camera.
Nexus 5's camera is MUCH better.
Unless someone can tell me how to improve this, I just hate the one's camera. sucks.

My phone's issue is cam sucks with CM 11S?

When I got it CM 11S with cm-11.0-XNPH25R-bacon-signed-fastboot OR cm-11.0-XNPH25R-bacon-signed results of cam were not bad.
But with this OPO_64GB cam sucks.

For the camera, I don't know what to tell you, but it sees like you just want to modify the camera shutter and exposure settings to your preference. Or you can go into the themes/app section and reflash the stock camera.

I would have to manually over expose the camera EVERY TIME i launch the camera app. Annoying.
I've already installed Google Camera. The stock OnePlus camera and some other ones from the play store.
They all give the same results.
It's fundamentally a camera sensor issue.

Yea, that sounds amiss; personally, I haven't had any noticeable issues with my camera.
But shouldn't the settings persist though, so you don't have to do it EVERY time?

Am a a bit confused........does the Color cam give bad results or CM 11S cam?
Stock OnePlus camera and Google camera have similar results.....What do you imply by stock OP cam?
Is Google cam available at GPS, should I try installing it over CM 11S?
Camera sensor issues are with Color OS?

Guys, it's a matter of knowing how to use a smartphone camera properly. Point and shoot just doesn't cut it for all situations.

I've used the app Perfectly Clear to help edit brightness and saturation and have been very pleased.
Again, it's a camera phone. You can't expect DSLR quality. Great lighting is key with these sensors.

I have seen some complaints but for the less than two days I have had this phone camera has been wonderful.
Outside in good light is on par with most flagships in my opinion and low light is OK but have seen few phones that are better.
Been using slimkat with Google camera and response time is great with auto mode
Xda doesn't like my file sizes....

i took same thing, by changing all camera' sby touching them allways at same point.. here are the results
1) Image taken by Camera Fv5 -
There is image Smoothing going on... which is same as Lenovo stock camera, but this gave the image size of 5 MB
2) Image taken by Cyanogen Camera -
In here, there is no image smoothening but detail level is Maximum than anyother camera i have tested, This gave image size of 6 MB
3) Image taken by Footej camera -
Here also i can see image smoothing, this exactly showcased what lenovo stock camera did , image size is 2 MB
4) Open Camera -
This is another camera which has Good detail, but image taken by Cyanogen camera is having more level of detail than this .. This gave image size of 8 MB ( The highest)
5) Fianlly Stock Camera - Smart ON
This is the fastest snapper among all the camera apps i have tested, but the level of detail is way lower, there is severe image smoothing going on ( same as Camera Fv5,Footej camera) , the image size is 2 MB
i decided there is something Wrong with Smart ON and OFF
so i took samples with ON and OFF , but the resulting image smoothening is similar, the smart ON mode took better exposure control than OFF mode, image sizes are same
Verdict : Open camera, and Cyanogen Camera are atleast overcoming SOME limitations by Lenovo , thereby causing better images than Other cameraapps that i have tested today .. but Color Composition is same in every APP , Brightness and exposure may vary depending on my Touches, but its least to bother..
Lenovo Stock camera app always takes images with lower exposure levels,thus resultant image is Pale
I prefer Cyanogen Camera as its giving more detail,with out smoothening the image aggresively..

I like camera FV5 , you know you can go into settings and adjust image sharpness and if you save as PNG you get less smoothing than saving as jpg , but file is a lot bigger . . I'll post a few photos using different camera apps when i get time

Help please!

These are photos I took with open camera. I edited them with auto filter from Google photos as they seemed dull without it. P.S You have to root the phone for CyanogenMod apps.

Yes I think so. The interface is the same but the photos seem to be better

Big shout out and thanks to @zeroprobe who made this possible. Based this mod on his tweaks.
Features:
- Bitrate 1080p = 40mBit/s
- Bitrate 720p = 40mBit/s
- Bitrate Slow Motion = 60mBit/s
- Object Tracking + HDR + Effects for 1080p_60fps, QHD and UHD
- Phase Detection AF for 1080p_60fps
- Zoom in Slow Motion
- Removed unnecessary Pro-Lite Mode [No more doubled "pro" option in camera modes]
- Removed Stickers
- JPG Quality 98%
Installation:
- Clear Data and Cache of the Camera App
- Make a BACKUP
- Install the zip from TWRP
- Check if second pro-mode option is gone to verify the install
Installation [ODEX / Renovate]:
- Go to data/app/ and delete the "com.sec.android.app.camera-1" folder
- Reboot into TWRP - flash the zip
- Go to system/priv-app/SamsungCamera7 and install the .apk
Disclaimer:
This is tested on a Galaxy S7 Flat running KHONGLOI S8 Port. This does NOT work for S7 roms as the camera app is different. It MAY run on the S8 but since I dont have the money to upgrade I cant test it.
I had working 1080p Slow motion on the Galaxy S7 Camera but can not get it to work with the new version. Still working on that.
S8 Port ROMs only!

Very nice to see someone else who has modded the camera :good:
Let me make some suggestions:
- There is no reason to increase 1080p to 80mbit/s, because you won't see any more details than on 30mbit/s which seems the culprit (default is 17mbit/s)
- Slow motion modded to 240fps on 1080p sounds promising but you miss to tell us the bitrate
- JPG quality at 100% will only double the size of the pictures taken but do not eliminate any loss in detail <- this is only produced due to aggressive postprocessing (oversharpening). Set it to 98% instead and you will have smaller files with identical quality to 100% (default is 96%)
- Maybe you will find a switch in the apk to turn off postprocessing completely (for taking pictures), then we will be able to take jpeg in raw quality and just had to eliminate noise on high ISO
- Maybe you should try to get S8 camera apk running on our S7. This will be interesting due to new (real) HDR mode

Sadly can not get 1080p slow motion working anymore on the new camera. Seems like they linked the resolutions to fps somehow.

Thanks for you mod dude, BTW do you think that's possible remove the horrendous post-processing effect on frontal camera (even with all beauty **** tuned off you can see some makeup effect)

i have released it on telegram channels(Superman and darkSide) as for now, got even aqua mode make it working, and added in settings quick launch with home(removed useless power)
I will release it here maybe tomorrow or on saturday.... works only on Superman tho, due to framework.jar mods

I just saw this post, got the GCAM app and did a very quick comparison. Both pics were taken in an almost pitch black room with a dim night light. I'll do more comparisons tomorrow night. Thanks OP for this great find!

you are amazing the response time is almost real-time... it is impressive just the slow-motion is off.

Guys join Oneplus 7 Gcam telegram and use the Gcam available there. They have a bunch of settings(XML) and different gcam versions.
Dev has added support for ultra wide and telephoto lens but for rooted op7 pro users only.
The support is really great.
It's working really good oppo reno 10x.

Question Pro camera app?

The camera app is lackluster in terms of manual control.
Is there way to unlock some pro mode or alternate app for that?

Great question! I hope there is, but I'm assuming we'd have to go third-party app for that.
[edit] According to this vid (for the Pixel 6) the only two settings you can enable are "exposure" and "white balance" (which were already 'on' on my P7P.)

Hopefully someone releases gcam for the Pixel7Pro lol
this camera app is Very basic

I would also like to see a decent GCam setup/config file.
Running Graphene the cam provided is lackluster and installing google camera is a tad better but feel it is not quite working as intended. Heck of a lot better however the macro seems a tad grainy at times.

Sorry for the question, but what is the difference from this Gcam an the default one of the p7p? I have installed and I don't see any manual control or something different from the stock Gcam

Those are only for video recording, not photography. (Own both apps since years)

In order to stop BSG GCam (8.6 builds) from crashing, all you need to do is pick Pixel 6 Pro as the interface model in settings. I know it doesn't make sense, but if you choose P7P interface it'll crash, so just use P6P and enjoy.

Not sure if I am doing something wrong but:
1. I installed MGC_8.6.263_A11_V9_ENG.apk (com.google.android.GoogleCameraEng) as suggested in Post 5 by K1nsey6. Camera installs but shows a black screen.
2. Then I download the Pixel 7 Pro config as suggested in Post 9 above by K1nsey6. I imported the config from within Camera app but it still shows a black screen and crashes.
3. I then changed the phone model to Pixel 6 Pro as suggested by jericho246 in Post 15. Still no joy - black screen and crashes right after I tap to Video.
4. Also enabled Additional Settings in Modules. Still no joy - a black screen in all modes and crashes.
Tried to select other profiles available in the Config - all are crashing.
Tried to clear cache but no joy.
All in all, the camera is not working.
Am I doing something wrong?

Is there any option to force portrait mode not to zoom by default in GCAM?

i dont see any difference in this with the config and the normal gcam app quality wise.
*apart from the photos beeing as twice as big in filesize*
just me?

latest 8.6 v10 from BSG with the xml posted above works great so far on my P7P.
Coming from a P6P with MWP gcam I was really disappointed by the stock Google camera processing on my P7P.
