Boot Animations
N/A for now. Will update soon ( I need to organize all my stuff... everything I made is scattered everywhere  )
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How to flash them?
On your PC, and then open CMD (Not Powershell (Powershell won't work for some reason.)) to the folder that you downloaded. Then on your Moto X boot to bootloader. Then plug your phone into the PC. In CMD type without quotes "mfastboot flash logo logo.bin"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Problems?
Not that I'm aware of, and it should work for any android version. I use Zephyr OS (Android 6.0.1) and it works fine. If you don't know what Zephyr OS, it is a custom Rom.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you could please give some feedback, and possibly a request if you have one.
If you want, (You don't have to), could you share this post. For I am just a person who wants to spread his love of anime to the technical word.

Very good.. Keep it up.. ?
Add some screenshot would be nice

Thanks for the tip.

I saw this comment a while ago, and believe me I'll try, but because of XDA's restrictions at the moment I cant Put direct images or files in. I have made a bunch custom Boot Logos and the post should be updated sometime today.

Never installed a boot ani standalone... do you just install from zip while in recovery, or put it in a folder and apply using theme manager?
Any chance we could see a SkyRaider Athena boot ani as well? =]

Depends which type of rom youre using...i cant remember the damn folder for aosp/cm roms but sense/senseless roms is in system/customize/resource...change to VZW_bootanimation.zip. you have to use root explorer to move then restart
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Figured it out. After making the previous post, I went through and found some info on it.
First I tried to just install from ZIP via Recovery, didn't work.
Then I used adb push, and on first attempt tried /data/local. This didn't work either.
Finally (and what I do every time now) I did the adb push to the following three directories:
/system/media/bootscreen (I think this one is unnecessary and mainly used for .gif)
/system/media (believe this is the one that worked for the dinc)
/data/local (just in case)
Since figuring this out, I have been playing around with creating boot animations of my own:
1st: sonic the hedgehog rolling, spinning, and then stopping at an android logo.
2nd: a "rick roll" - series of screens of "What Rick Astley will never do" LMAO
3rd: Sonic (2 screens) putting on his glove (better graphic than the 1st)
4th (and current): Guile doing a flashkick followed by Ryu doing hurricane kick.
Rick roll sounds hilarious would love to see that lol
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
So for aosp Roms just name it bootscreen? Or VZW_bootanimation.zip?
*It's IncREDible*
Any chance on some previews?
Ok first off these should only be named "bootanimation.zip" for the Inc. The only reason this would change is if you have some off beat ROM... but that would be weird and annoying. Next is these should be installed at /system/media for most roms however this can change from rom to rom so its best to ask your roms developer if your not sure. I should have previews as links but I'm not sure cause I am sending this from my phone so i.ll have to check later. This thread will receive an update soon. Btw if you find a good YouTube that would make a good boot ani (no sound) you can post a link to it here. If you can't post links yet put the name of the video and who it was posted by and ill review it and see about making a boot ani from it. Anything that has any inappropriate content such as drugs or sexual content will be ignored all together.
Redemption and Redemption Revolution both have theirs called VZW_bootanimation.zip and VZW_Droid.mp3. They go in the system/customize/resource folder.

3 LCARS boot animations

It's time to give something back to the community.
I've been searching for a few boot animations that use the Star Trek L.C.A.R.S terminal style. I found a few here on XDA that where for other devices. So after getting some help with being able to remake them I set to it and here are 3 I've been able to convert so far. I'm still looking for others as well and if i find some I will update this topic.
The first 2 are in landscape format and the 3rd is in portrait. ( The images are clickable to get a larger preview )
1. L.C.A.R.S Bootanimation 1
download from here = https://www.dropbox.com/s/m60qjwom7s7ljux/LCARS_bootanimation_1.zip
2. L.C.A.R.S Bootanimation 2
download from here = https://www.dropbox.com/s/sj5xggzugxu1l9a/LCARS_bootanimation_2.zip
3. L.C.A.R.S Bootanimation 3
download from here = https://www.dropbox.com/s/5b7e8q0u132805x/LCARS_bootanimation_3.zip
Simply grab the one you want from the links download it, rename it to bootanimation and using a root explorer ( my prefered choice is rom tool box pro ) place it in your sysem/media folder and reboot.
Also anyone that is wanting a decent screen saver for their PC may I suggest system 47 ( http://www.mewho.com/system47/ ). I have it on my pc and I love it :good: Also for a fully featured Windows desktop shell interface based on L.C.A.R.S then try LCARSx32 ( http://www.lcarsx32.com/lcars/index.php ). Ive installed it on my laptop and it looks superb....plus its the added benefit of annoying the kids so they dont use it as much....just need to put it on my pc and happy days.
If I have helped anyone please click thanks it only takes a second or maybe buy me a coffee :victory:
Thanks for the effort but this LCARS is not really my thing
I go for more minimalistic, battery safer stuff...
By the way, did you have a look on this thread?

I've just looked over there and I have to admit there are some nice ones. Ive just edited 2 more and ill add them to the OP later tonight when I've had chance to test them.
Im also wondering if it would be possible to create a programme that would pull a random boot animation from a list of installed ones. That way you could have say 5 boot animations on your SDCard and when you boot your phone you would get a random boot animation.

Hi,
I've followed all the steps, there are no errors during install but when the tablet reboots nothing has changed.

Well unless I had a brainfart and uploaded stock APKs into the zip file, it should have worked perfectly.
did you have any "android upgrading" messages upon reboot - you should have had for a couple of apps.

No, I didn't had any "android upgrading" messages upon reboot.
I've looked at the updater-script, and there is this line:
run_program("/sbin/busybox", "mount", "/system");
When I look in the sbin directory, there is no busybox there, could that be the problem?
Sorry if it's a noob question.
Edit: So, that was the problem.
I replaced the line:
Code:
run_program("/sbin/busybox", "mount", "/system");
by:
Code:
mount("ext4", "EMMC", "/dev/block/platform/sdhci-tegra.3/by-name/APP", "/system");
in the updater-script, then signed the zip file again and now the theme is working properly.
Thanks for the great theme!
*DELETED"
wow, this will make the tablet even more sexy! thanks!
*DELETED"
Was trying to sign the zip after modding the updater-script and for some reason the new zip still keeps failing verification =/ guess i'll just wait for an updated zip to be posted.
And as soon as i posted this i see the thread was updated lol.
Looks Great! Thanks for bringing this tablet to the dark side.

@Thyrus,
Your theme looks absolutely awesome!
I suffer from a visual impairment. One of the things that it affects is my ability to look at white screens.
I must always run my desktop at work in high contrast mode. I am very thankful for TBO, I use many of their apps.
I plan on getting a N9 this weekend. I truly must have your theme for me to be able to use the tablet efficiently.
I see that your theme is only available for Lollipopalooza.
Will your theme only work with that ROM, or will it work with any AOSP ROM for the N9? I would assume we will get more of them in the future.
Is using the recovery built by the Lollipopalooza developer a requirement for your theme? I see that there is a working TWRP now for the N9.
I SINCERELY appreciate your time and efforts with this project.

Hey Skid,
Well I am honored that I can actually help you - obviously that wasnt my aim, but hey I am stocked it help you even more!
Now to your qs:
1. At the moment threre is only one custom ROM - so that is what i used as a base (and to be frank, the ROM is simply perfect hence I am planning to stick with it.
2.It should work on most AOSPbased ROMs though as the typical issues with "google or normal dialer" dont apply to wifi-only tablets
3. Since I created the thread we now have TWRP custom recovery, so no the OPs recovery is no longer required.
PS: I stumbled across something in the dev options that may be even more helpful to you - i found some more help in the menus - see screenshots (color inversion)

Thyrus,
Sadly my eye condition isn't reversible. Although this stinks, it has motivated me to make sure to look into accessibility options on devices. I appreciate you pointing out the options that the N9 has. I do plan on trying out the color correction setting. I also use the magnification option on my G3.
The inversion option although nice, really messes with other parts of the OS. Basically I've got to switch back and forth constantly. Your FABULOUS theme (along with TBO apps) will resolve that issue entirely. You have no idea how awesome your theme is (at least to me).
Hopefully I'll have some time to get the N9 ready for your theme. I've been reading up on ADB/fastboot commands, downloaded the minimal ADB/fastboot tool, and have links saved on how to unlock the bootloader (my 1st Nexus device), root, and install ROM's. Lollipopalooza looks great to me. I have absolutely no qualms with sticking with that ROM.
Craig had posted something in his thread concerning flashing or booting the Q kernel or image (can't remember which) and I'm a little hung up on that. I'm pretty sure that I'll have LRX21R after my N9 gets it's first update.
Again, many, many HUGE thanks for doing this. Seeing your video made me jump out of my chair and yell at my wife, "This is it...this is it!!" This HAS to go on my N9.
Hopefully people with visual disabilities will somehow find this thread.

Thanks very much on your generous offer. It's a bit of a pet peeve to see folks just ask for things be given to them without doing any work ie-research in this case. Certainly hope I won't have to. I don't mind reading for weeks if necessary. The benefits will serve me well past the time I'll put into educating myself.
Sorry for the OT chat folks. :good:
I've found a little visual glitch. When your have to enter a wifi password, the text of the checkbook isn't visible (black font on black background).
I've attached a screenshot.

[MOD]ENABLE ZIP BOOTANIMATION w/AROMA BOOT/SHUTDOWN ANIMATION PICKER [MAY.16]

I finally made the time to put together an Aroma of a handful of my own creations along with some of my favorites! You will have the ability to enable custom Boot Animations for those running stock Roms. This mod will also install the ever so difficult to create "qmg" shutdowns! For the people running the newest Missing Link, you've seen most, but not all of what is here. Added a couple of boots and shutdowns.
New version added support to many newer Samsung devices running MM Only!

AROMA BOOT/SHUTDOWN ANIMATION PICKER!! OVER 40 BOOT, 26 SHUTDOWN ANIMATIONS and 45 BOOT SPLASH IMAGES TO PICK FROM
The mod enables the use of "Custom ZIP" animations instead of the QMG animations giving you a much larger selection, even beyond this mod!! If you want to go back to QMG animations, simply just use a file manager with root access and navigate to system/media and delete the "bootanimation.zip" then reboot. Done, you will be back to the original QMG bootanimation your rom had prior to running this mod. Enjoy!!

THE QUICK GUIDE TO CREATING YOUR OWN BOOT ANIMATIONS"because I can feed you fish and you're good for the night or teach you to fish and you'll be good forever!!"
I have enjoyed boot animations since I started messing around with phones. I finally felt comfortable enough to start making my own and this is how i did it:
1 - First is you need an animation such as a video clip or gif whatever. I personally like them to be less than 30 seconds with the main focal part about 10 secs. By that time the phone has started up.
2 - then you need to extract the frames/convert using infanview or similar app, to image format, jpg is smaller, png is better quality and some just plain look better this way. Using Irfanview in the "options" menu click "extract all frames" then you can fine tune using "file" menu "batch conversion/rename" option
3 - download Boot Animation Factory and thank the dev for such a great tool for previewing and creating Boot Animations. From there the app will take you to creating the bootanimation.zip file needed for your phone.
4 - Then it's just a matter of getting it to where it needs to be. You can check my thread here which gives all the the different locations for various phones store the file for manual installs. There is also the "flashable zips" and "the Aroma Installer" for multiple options!
5 - last thing is to give thanks and credit where it's due and share your wonderful new creations with all of us here on XDA!!! Thank you
that is a very quick run down of how I am making Boot Animations today
*****BOOT ANIMATIONS PREVIEWS*****
This is set of boot animations I have either created or collected from all creative minds here at XDA.
The flashable zips are confirmed ONLY for Sprint's (Galaxy S2) E4GT right now!! testers welcome? Should be compatible with Samsung device's that use "bootsamsung.qmg" and "bootsamsungloop.qmg" files stored in /system/media. Just get the flashable.zip files here and flash via recovery
This link will get you to my original post with directions for installs, downloads for previews, bootanimation.zip files and flashable zips (these are made to support Samsung qmg bootanimation)
Direct downloads here for manual install of bootanimation.zip file
Previews here
Flashable zips here
These are made to support Samsung "qmg" bootanimations, specifically for the device I am on E4GT (Sprint's S2). IT'S UNTESTED ON ANY OTHER PHONES!! IF ANYONE WITH A SAMSUNG PHONE THAT HAS THE "QMG" LOCKED BOOT WOULD TEST LET ME KNOW THAT WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED.
I have to thank all of the XDA community for these animation and support over the years!!! Please enjoy

Glad you like and enjoy my work. I have a fixed version below. Thanks
UPDATE: First off thank you to everyone for the support and patience. I know the v1 had some "double option choices" and a few animations didn't work. I have went through and tested further and confirm they work now. I also added a couple more choices. I still need to work on the "previews" for some of them, about half are done right now. If the previews aren't available to view during recovery they are most likely available in the OP. Again thank you for your patience!!

This link has the stock Note 5 version.
You will need to flash using Odin or make a flashable zip with instructions from this thread
If you are confused or not comfortable with those instructions let me know.
I have been working for over a month on my ROM update and am literally hours from being done or I would just make a zip for you.
It really is very easy to use ODIN or the zip.
Good luck

Fastest Boot Animation

Ok so i found something on Lollipop & Marshmallow i figured i'd share with you all.
Do you want the fastest possible Boot Animation?
Do you care really what it looks like?
IF the answer is YES & NO i have the solution for you
It's called the default android boot animation !
It is the word Android spelled out in pulsing white with the newer droid font.
It's the full width of the screen with a black background.
And i noticed it made my phone seem like it was booting faster :good:
So..
How do i get it?
You need root access and you can probably choose what method you want to do it..
The basic idea is to go and rename or remove the BootloaderAnimation.zip
I chose to use RootExplorer to go in and rename the file.
But i bet TWRP or other ways would work too.
Go here.. /System/Media/bootanimation.zip
The newest Marshmallow Animation is almost 10mb so killing it i think does help it boot faster.
Enjoy your NO BootAnimation
I think you can fully disable bootanimation with this command:
debug.sf.nobootanimation=1
Click to collapse
in build prop. After that it should fully disable bootanimation (there will be only black screen) but I'm not sure about it because last time I was using this on Android 2.3 but you can give it a try, imo it should work.

I think you can fully disable bootanimation with this command:
in build prop. After that it should fully disable bootanimation (there will be only black screen) but I'm not sure about it because last time I was using this on Android 2.3 but you can give it a try, imo it should work.
Click to collapse
worked smootly on Moto E 2015 -resurrection-remix-v5-8-0-t3509463 (Android N 7.1_r7)
(even faster than just rename the bootlogo.zip)
I remember coming across this before in 5.1. Yes it made it faster but, it just looks plain and boring.
