Never installed a boot ani standalone... do you just install from zip while in recovery, or put it in a folder and apply using theme manager?

Any chance we could see a SkyRaider Athena boot ani as well? =]

Depends which type of rom youre using...i cant remember the damn folder for aosp/cm roms but sense/senseless roms is in system/customize/resource...change to VZW_bootanimation.zip. you have to use root explorer to move then restart
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App

Figured it out. After making the previous post, I went through and found some info on it.
First I tried to just install from ZIP via Recovery, didn't work.
Then I used adb push, and on first attempt tried /data/local. This didn't work either.
Finally (and what I do every time now) I did the adb push to the following three directories:
/system/media/bootscreen (I think this one is unnecessary and mainly used for .gif)
/system/media (believe this is the one that worked for the dinc)
/data/local (just in case)
Since figuring this out, I have been playing around with creating boot animations of my own:
1st: sonic the hedgehog rolling, spinning, and then stopping at an android logo.
2nd: a "rick roll" - series of screens of "What Rick Astley will never do" LMAO
3rd: Sonic (2 screens) putting on his glove (better graphic than the 1st)
4th (and current): Guile doing a flashkick followed by Ryu doing hurricane kick.

Rick roll sounds hilarious would love to see that lol
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App

So for aosp Roms just name it bootscreen? Or VZW_bootanimation.zip?
*It's IncREDible*

Any chance on some previews?

Ok first off these should only be named "bootanimation.zip" for the Inc. The only reason this would change is if you have some off beat ROM... but that would be weird and annoying. Next is these should be installed at /system/media for most roms however this can change from rom to rom so its best to ask your roms developer if your not sure. I should have previews as links but I'm not sure cause I am sending this from my phone so i.ll have to check later. This thread will receive an update soon. Btw if you find a good YouTube that would make a good boot ani (no sound) you can post a link to it here. If you can't post links yet put the name of the video and who it was posted by and ill review it and see about making a boot ani from it. Anything that has any inappropriate content such as drugs or sexual content will be ignored all together.

Redemption and Redemption Revolution both have theirs called VZW_bootanimation.zip and VZW_Droid.mp3. They go in the system/customize/resource folder.

Hulu and Flash 10.1
Skyraider Has updated his package once again.. Not much has been done, just some needed refinements. Updated: 9/5/10
I Have Added the ZIp for Stagefright-Undo that illogic6 made for us down through the thread! This is for CM users who want to avoid the "Demon Sheep" sound, I'll never get over that, or in simple terms the slow delayed sound Just flash via recovery. As for recovery, this is a Unsigned Zip, so please be sure to have updated to Amon's 1.8.0 or use Clockwork. Updated: 8/30/10
I have added the NEW and UPDATED version of HULU that Skyraider did for his 3.0 on the Droid Incredible. W/ FIXED ORIENTATION!!!
Please thank Skyraider for his hard work and input on this Hulu project that everyone wants but couldn't Mod it right until now!
I have uploaded the latest Flash 10.1 that has been adjusted to work with the Hulu app that I have provided from http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-incredible/136662-hulu-2-2-de-odexed-roms.html
This allows you to watch FULL Hulu with the latest flash installed without the sacrafice of losing anything. I hope you all enjoy... NOW, with PERFECT Orientation! Use Pinch to Zoom to fill the screen!
Directions:
Use Root Explorer or a App of such, and delete the install_flash_player.apk / flashplayer.apk from the system/app location, be sure to be mounted as r/w and then reboot, install the one I have listed. Then, install the Hulu app, and your on your way. If there are any issues, repeat the process and you should be fine.
Unzip and the apps are inside.. Just transfer over to the root of your SD or your choosing and enjoy.
Edit:
Now, if your watching a video, its starts in portrait, just rotate the device and you'll get full landscape mode. Now, pinch and zoom and you could fix and adjust the screen to fit yours.
As for the flash, there should be nothing wrong with it as I changed it from the precious one I had, to the beast skyraider made. So, If you still posses the flash I provided before, plz uninstall and then install the final one made. It should all be in the Hulu:Flash folder. Remember, flash might be moved or renamed on some Roms, so look through any root explorer and fish it out. Once done, install the final, you should avoid a most of the lag and etc.
As for lag and etc. Plz give your devices about 3-4 mins to adjust in running all the streamed data and processes. Once on the go, like you opened the app and got it running. Kill it in the task killer to allow the lockscreen to resume Nd the latent sound to stop. This should be done at the end. The echo hasn't been made yet to kill the app on exit.
Enjoy!
I just relay the goodies ppl.. The goodies..
Awesome, thanks! Is it still resolution dependent / is this apk WVGA only?

Install of 1.60 kept failing until I manually uninstalled 1.56, despite the "application will be updated" message. After 1.56 was uninstalled, 1.60 installed fine and is working great.
Thanks again!

Magnus is that the NEW 1.60 with mic?
Thanks for the new version!
You have to flash a zip to get the modded version with a mic?
Wasn't version 1.60.36.8214 released a while ago? I've been running it for at least a week
Im a noobie to the EVO and I need some help. I just downloaded the swipe keyboard w/o the Mic. However I cant get the keyboard to come up when I try to text a Message. I did go into settings and select the swype keyboard but it still does not show up. Help please!

I downloaded this file- HERE IS THE VERSION WITH MIC in update.zip.
I am not sure why it says "in update.zip". The file I downloaded was called s_kb_tts_signed.zip. But I rebooted into recovery and using the Amon recovery I installed zip from SD and chose the s_kb file.
As soon as the system starts I get the Sorry error. The application swype (process com.swype.android.inputmethod) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. If I try to go into settings\keyboard and press the swype option I get the force close error again. I have uninstall-ed the previous version and try installing thru recovery twice.

Thanks for the Mic mod. So sick. This all I wanted out of swype. I needed that in the keyboard so many times!!!
Also, if you flash and find that the keys have changed but the mic is not showing up and the return symbol is in the middle of the keys. Wipe all of your swype data from application management and then reboot.

Gingerbread 2.3..EZ FRankenCYAN (not Affiliated with any) 2708 Radio needed

2708 kernel only!FR-customMTD is needed for G1 of at least 94Mb systemI give to you my leaving present....it seems to be fully working,no lag and everything working..All i did was add some files, delete some, change some bits in the build.prop and in the updater script.
My phone will be gone from tomorrow so i provide no support,no updates and am not responsible for any broken phones etc etc...
The name....
Called EZ FRankenCYAN because its a bit of all their work therefore i take NO CREDIT! All i did was use bits and pieces from each of their efforts.
By the way i did it all on my Magic so big thanks to Astro File Explorer!!
I have been using this for the last couple of days and get a respectable 4.4+ linpack scores,Please enjoy as i have and as the new phones owner will.
Thanks to EzTerry, FireRat and CYANogen team.Hopefully i wont annoy anyone by putting this up!
Im now off to the Hero Section again to goodbye for now!
Usual stuff, wipe before you flash backup etc
DOWNLOAD HERE!
SIGNED DOWNLOAD
I should add that the onpy reason i have posted this is because i didnt want to feel guilty for not sharing...If i was keeping my phone i would go with Ezterry and Firerats rom as its goign to be amazingly fast and clean! I noticed when doign this that the CM coding in files seems quite dirty,as well as EZ/FR having an autoinstaller for various kernels when you flash.
Stick with the newer developers i have a feeling they will support longer than whoever takes over Cmod!
SEE POST 7 FOR FLY ANIMATION! THANKS TO JUANGIL
thanks for sharing, will give it a try
edit 1: you need to mention that FR-customMTD is needed for G1 of at least 94Mb system (thanks)
edit 2: it is indeed Fast, tested with and without compchache and I see no diff, I'll replace ADWLauncher with Launcher2 to see if still as fast as now (I dont want to say it but it feels faster than ezterry's) I even added Fly Animation and it feels faster "foreals"
edit 3: using Launcher2 now and compcache @32mb Jit on, best combination till now, first GB rom I got where LCD density changer works (130/140 looks cool!) this rom can handle the transition animation really snappy
i couldnt flash it. the zip could not be opened or something :s
Could you explain how you got the Cyanogenmod parts into this otherwise stock ROM? I would use EzTerry / Firerat's Gingerbread ROMs, but I really miss the dropdown power widget and the battery percentage. All the rest I could live without.

I am curious to try this out. I downloaded the ROM from the OP but when I went to flash it I also received an error that e:\ bad zip. Does the ROM require custom MTD as stated by Bonesy? If it does require MTD, what are your settings? Also how is the gmail issue with the ROM, does it loop or is all OK?

it DOES require customMTD as STATED, no problem with Gmail, it has the power widgets on pulldown bar, No battery porcentage
my settings for MTD; 98 1.5 (I have 3.9Mb free after adding animation to framework and Launcher2 to system)

Thanks for the quick response. I am going to up my MTD partition size from 87 2 to your settings and give it a shot. The battery percentage isnt a showstopper for me. I will let you know how it goes after changing the settings.

And no, I did install CMparts.apk, settings.apk, and settings.provider.apk. It worked in the sense that it showed the Cyanogenmod settings and let me change them, but it didn't actually do anything. And then after reboot they disappeared.
It doesnt wok like that i used the CM7 port as the base then added in some of ezterrys parts, this file isnt signed as i made it on my magic with NO PC its a shame ive sold my magic now i would like to continue

It's the fastest GingerBread I've ever seen... But There is one small bug. I'm from poland (you can see it on every my post- language problems )... I'm from Poland and I see, that keyboard layouts don't match (what I type on hardware keyboard don't match what I get. I mean this: [email protected]#$%^&*()_[];',./-=\ signs...). Is there any fix for that? And where is the "?" sign?
Bad zip is caused by wrong digest (signature) of the package. I've had the same. Sign it and it would be ok

[Mod/collection] Using UOT kitchen to mod the battery icon etc for your rom

Most recent mod on post #7
you can easily add a font (also battery and so on) to a ROM (tested only on WB's CM6 V06, but I think it should work for other ones too) by yourself:
1. just upload the framework-res.apk (lokated in system/framework) from your rom to http://uot.dakra.lt/ (under kitchen/file upload)
2. make the changes you want to have in the tab "kitchen"
3. dl the output file
4. afterwards flash it via xrecovery.
Note:
if that doesn't work for you,
1. manually mount data and and system in partition tools
2. afterwards flash the zip.
This ist the way, i, simacid and playgunsta "made" the new battery icons and font for WB's CM6.
I suggest we put our modded files here so we can all post our creations and so everyone can choose by himself what he likes, without searching the whole threats.
Note:
When making a post, please add for which rom it is and which version of it. also post a screenshot when possible and add what you have modded.
Update: seek4 just confirmed that everything is working fine for him except the power toggle widgets in notification area, so keep going and don't hesitate to post your creations.
Update2: kevjef420 noted, that if you use Amend scripting in the tab "file upload", everything works fine without mounting system and data manually. Thanks for that.
regards
So, ill start this with my "mod":
Rom: Cyanogenmod 6.1.3 V06 by Wolfbreak (don't use on other roms)
Mod: only the Battery icon (without percent, so you can choose the color with Cyanogenmod settings)
Edit: also works on hotfix V06.1 by WB (because there are no changes in framework)
Screenshot: in attachmend
I tried to use this source 3 days ago. Uploaded my framework-res.apk from WB rom, changed only battery icons, flashed my cooked framework-res.apk using xRec, nothing changed. I don't know what I did wrong, but its seems not working for me.
But I didn't do this
1. manually mount data and and system in partition tools

I also didn't have anything change the first time. What you need to do is in the screen where you upload your framework on the lefthand side there is 3 options that you can select. By default it has the first and last option selected but you need to select the second and third not the first one. I don't remember what they are right now since I am not near my computer.
This worked for me. I created a nice theme I will upload it here latter when I get a chance.

So are you saying that the transparency setting works with CM6 roms?
cause it says in the kitchen that it is for gingerbread roms only.
oh and this is the option that I checked that got my mod to work without having to make any other changes. (second option)
"Amend scripting. Old scripting, compatible with old recoveries. Use this if you having problem with flashing (no changes, error 0) or have not HTC Desire phone"
I have been using this kitchen for a few weeks now with no problems since I have started checking this option in the file upload tab.
thanks for sharing it with everyone.

No. What I did is under kitchen/status bar i ticked the background only, set the color to be fully black and choosen the transparency to be 75%. As you can see in my screenshot, it worked. Don't tick the option "Enable transparency in statusbar".

Nope, 2.1 fw-res is too big to upload. There is a size limit on Uot. You could make one for a different Rom then dig out the icons. It's a pain but it works.

Send from my X10 CM 6.1.3 by Wolfbreak
hi,
thanks so much for this thread, it is awesome and has really helped me out!!
can someone just answer a few little things for me....
i am running wolfbreaks 6.1.3 v07, and i have tried to load a few different boot animations using the kitchen, but it never works, it just says sony erricsson?? i checked in my system/media, and there is a bootanimation.zip - do i need to specifically install it or should it automatically have done that when i installed the kitchen zip? (i had to mount system and data in xrecovery, if that means anything?)
also, is there a way similar to kitchen that i can edit the little icons that appear next to SHUT DOWN, REBOOT, AIRPLANE MODE etc? atm mine are grey, but i seen on the kitchen that they can be coloured? is the reason that they are grey due to my framework-res settings? and if so, is there a way i can change it?
thanks in advance!

3 LCARS boot animations

It's time to give something back to the community.
I've been searching for a few boot animations that use the Star Trek L.C.A.R.S terminal style. I found a few here on XDA that where for other devices. So after getting some help with being able to remake them I set to it and here are 3 I've been able to convert so far. I'm still looking for others as well and if i find some I will update this topic.
The first 2 are in landscape format and the 3rd is in portrait. ( The images are clickable to get a larger preview )
1. L.C.A.R.S Bootanimation 1
download from here = https://www.dropbox.com/s/m60qjwom7s7ljux/LCARS_bootanimation_1.zip
2. L.C.A.R.S Bootanimation 2
download from here = https://www.dropbox.com/s/sj5xggzugxu1l9a/LCARS_bootanimation_2.zip
3. L.C.A.R.S Bootanimation 3
download from here = https://www.dropbox.com/s/5b7e8q0u132805x/LCARS_bootanimation_3.zip
Simply grab the one you want from the links download it, rename it to bootanimation and using a root explorer ( my prefered choice is rom tool box pro ) place it in your sysem/media folder and reboot.
Also anyone that is wanting a decent screen saver for their PC may I suggest system 47 ( http://www.mewho.com/system47/ ). I have it on my pc and I love it :good: Also for a fully featured Windows desktop shell interface based on L.C.A.R.S then try LCARSx32 ( http://www.lcarsx32.com/lcars/index.php ). Ive installed it on my laptop and it looks superb....plus its the added benefit of annoying the kids so they dont use it as much....just need to put it on my pc and happy days.
If I have helped anyone please click thanks it only takes a second or maybe buy me a coffee :victory:
Thanks for the effort but this LCARS is not really my thing
I go for more minimalistic, battery safer stuff...
By the way, did you have a look on this thread?

I've just looked over there and I have to admit there are some nice ones. Ive just edited 2 more and ill add them to the OP later tonight when I've had chance to test them.
Im also wondering if it would be possible to create a programme that would pull a random boot animation from a list of installed ones. That way you could have say 5 boot animations on your SDCard and when you boot your phone you would get a random boot animation.

[MOD]ENABLE ZIP BOOTANIMATION w/AROMA BOOT/SHUTDOWN ANIMATION PICKER [MAY.16]

I finally made the time to put together an Aroma of a handful of my own creations along with some of my favorites! You will have the ability to enable custom Boot Animations for those running stock Roms. This mod will also install the ever so difficult to create "qmg" shutdowns! For the people running the newest Missing Link, you've seen most, but not all of what is here. Added a couple of boots and shutdowns.
New version added support to many newer Samsung devices running MM Only!
CONFIRMED SUPPORTED DEVICES
Galaxy S6
Galaxy S6 Edge
Galaxy S7
Galaxy S7 Edge
Note 4
Note 5
Note 7
AROMA BOOT/SHUTDOWN ANIMATION PICKER!! OVER 40 BOOT, 26 SHUTDOWN ANIMATIONS and 45 BOOT SPLASH IMAGES TO PICK FROM
The mod enables the use of "Custom ZIP" animations instead of the QMG animations giving you a much larger selection, even beyond this mod!! If you want to go back to QMG animations, simply just use a file manager with root access and navigate to system/media and delete the "bootanimation.zip" then reboot. Done, you will be back to the original QMG bootanimation your rom had prior to running this mod. Enjoy!!

THE QUICK GUIDE TO CREATING YOUR OWN BOOT ANIMATIONS"because I can feed you fish and you're good for the night or teach you to fish and you'll be good forever!!"
I have enjoyed boot animations since I started messing around with phones. I finally felt comfortable enough to start making my own and this is how i did it:
1 - First is you need an animation such as a video clip or gif whatever. I personally like them to be less than 30 seconds with the main focal part about 10 secs. By that time the phone has started up.
2 - then you need to extract the frames/convert using infanview or similar app, to image format, jpg is smaller, png is better quality and some just plain look better this way. Using Irfanview in the "options" menu click "extract all frames" then you can fine tune using "file" menu "batch conversion/rename" option
3 - download Boot Animation Factory and thank the dev for such a great tool for previewing and creating Boot Animations. From there the app will take you to creating the bootanimation.zip file needed for your phone.
4 - Then it's just a matter of getting it to where it needs to be. You can check my thread here which gives all the the different locations for various phones store the file for manual installs. There is also the "flashable zips" and "the Aroma Installer" for multiple options!
5 - last thing is to give thanks and credit where it's due and share your wonderful new creations with all of us here on XDA!!! Thank you
that is a very quick run down of how I am making Boot Animations today
*****BOOT ANIMATIONS PREVIEWS*****
This is set of boot animations I have either created or collected from all creative minds here at XDA.
The flashable zips are confirmed ONLY for Sprint's (Galaxy S2) E4GT right now!! testers welcome? Should be compatible with Samsung device's that use "bootsamsung.qmg" and "bootsamsungloop.qmg" files stored in /system/media. Just get the flashable.zip files here and flash via recovery
This link will get you to my original post with directions for installs, downloads for previews, bootanimation.zip files and flashable zips (these are made to support Samsung qmg bootanimation)
Direct downloads here for manual install of bootanimation.zip file
Previews here
Flashable zips here
These are made to support Samsung "qmg" bootanimations, specifically for the device I am on E4GT (Sprint's S2). IT'S UNTESTED ON ANY OTHER PHONES!! IF ANYONE WITH A SAMSUNG PHONE THAT HAS THE "QMG" LOCKED BOOT WOULD TEST LET ME KNOW THAT WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED.
I have to thank all of the XDA community for these animation and support over the years!!! Please enjoy

Nice job!
good to see you again @stangdriver44, loved your work with twisted rom. But there are some boot loader that doesn't work, and some shutdown animations that causes bootloop.

Glad you like and enjoy my work. I have a fixed version below. Thanks
UPDATE: First off thank you to everyone for the support and patience. I know the v1 had some "double option choices" and a few animations didn't work. I have went through and tested further and confirm they work now. I also added a couple more choices. I still need to work on the "previews" for some of them, about half are done right now. If the previews aren't available to view during recovery they are most likely available in the OP. Again thank you for your patience!!

Yes, flash in twrp or philz recovery.
Good luck!
I have a quick question. I was hoping maybe you can get the Hunger games mockingjay logo to work on our phone like in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZZUnZ1Hfbs&feature=youtu.be , if other people want it also? Thank you for your great work!

Here You go. I can work on adding sound and changing the color later if people want? Just flash the zip in recovery and enjoy!
You are the man. Thank you very much!!!
What really fun is to start adding some sound profiles to these themes pretty easy to switch out the OGG files as long as there's no correctly named
This works with the note 5 right?

Great mod! Running into a small issue. After the shutdown screen I get a snowy looking screen. Is this a Kernel issue?

This link has the stock Note 5 version.
You will need to flash using Odin or make a flashable zip with instructions from this thread
If you are confused or not comfortable with those instructions let me know.
I have been working for over a month on my ROM update and am literally hours from being done or I would just make a zip for you.
It really is very easy to use ODIN or the zip.
Good luck
