3 LCARS boot animations - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Themes and Apps

It's time to give something back to the community.
I've been searching for a few boot animations that use the Star Trek L.C.A.R.S terminal style. I found a few here on XDA that where for other devices. So after getting some help with being able to remake them I set to it and here are 3 I've been able to convert so far. I'm still looking for others as well and if i find some I will update this topic.
The first 2 are in landscape format and the 3rd is in portrait. ( The images are clickable to get a larger preview )
1. L.C.A.R.S Bootanimation 1
download from here = https://www.dropbox.com/s/m60qjwom7s7ljux/LCARS_bootanimation_1.zip
2. L.C.A.R.S Bootanimation 2
download from here = https://www.dropbox.com/s/sj5xggzugxu1l9a/LCARS_bootanimation_2.zip
3. L.C.A.R.S Bootanimation 3
download from here = https://www.dropbox.com/s/5b7e8q0u132805x/LCARS_bootanimation_3.zip
Simply grab the one you want from the links download it, rename it to bootanimation and using a root explorer ( my prefered choice is rom tool box pro ) place it in your sysem/media folder and reboot.
Also anyone that is wanting a decent screen saver for their PC may I suggest system 47 ( http://www.mewho.com/system47/ ). I have it on my pc and I love it :good: Also for a fully featured Windows desktop shell interface based on L.C.A.R.S then try LCARSx32 ( http://www.lcarsx32.com/lcars/index.php ). Ive installed it on my laptop and it looks superb....plus its the added benefit of annoying the kids so they dont use it as much....just need to put it on my pc and happy days.
If I have helped anyone please click thanks it only takes a second or maybe buy me a coffee :victory:

Thanks for the effort but this LCARS is not really my thing
I go for more minimalistic, battery safer stuff...
By the way, did you have a look on this thread?

I've just looked over there and I have to admit there are some nice ones. Ive just edited 2 more and ill add them to the OP later tonight when I've had chance to test them.
Im also wondering if it would be possible to create a programme that would pull a random boot animation from a list of installed ones. That way you could have say 5 boot animations on your SDCard and when you boot your phone you would get a random boot animation.

Never installed a boot ani standalone... do you just install from zip while in recovery, or put it in a folder and apply using theme manager?
Any chance we could see a SkyRaider Athena boot ani as well? =]

Depends which type of rom youre using...i cant remember the damn folder for aosp/cm roms but sense/senseless roms is in system/customize/resource...change to VZW_bootanimation.zip. you have to use root explorer to move then restart

Figured it out. After making the previous post, I went through and found some info on it.
First I tried to just install from ZIP via Recovery, didn't work.
Then I used adb push, and on first attempt tried /data/local. This didn't work either.
Finally (and what I do every time now) I did the adb push to the following three directories:
/system/media/bootscreen (I think this one is unnecessary and mainly used for .gif)
/system/media (believe this is the one that worked for the dinc)
/data/local (just in case)
Since figuring this out, I have been playing around with creating boot animations of my own:
1st: sonic the hedgehog rolling, spinning, and then stopping at an android logo.
2nd: a "rick roll" - series of screens of "What Rick Astley will never do" LMAO
3rd: Sonic (2 screens) putting on his glove (better graphic than the 1st)
4th (and current): Guile doing a flashkick followed by Ryu doing hurricane kick.
Rick roll sounds hilarious would love to see that lol
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
So for aosp Roms just name it bootscreen? Or VZW_bootanimation.zip?
*It's IncREDible*
Any chance on some previews?
Ok first off these should only be named "bootanimation.zip" for the Inc. The only reason this would change is if you have some off beat ROM... but that would be weird and annoying. Next is these should be installed at /system/media for most roms however this can change from rom to rom so its best to ask your roms developer if your not sure. I should have previews as links but I'm not sure cause I am sending this from my phone so i.ll have to check later. This thread will receive an update soon. Btw if you find a good YouTube that would make a good boot ani (no sound) you can post a link to it here. If you can't post links yet put the name of the video and who it was posted by and ill review it and see about making a boot ani from it. Anything that has any inappropriate content such as drugs or sexual content will be ignored all together.
Redemption and Redemption Revolution both have theirs called VZW_bootanimation.zip and VZW_Droid.mp3. They go in the system/customize/resource folder.

[ROM] Androot-N7p-rom for Nextbook 7 Premium

Welcome to Androot-N7p-ROM for the NextBook 7 Premium *ONLY.
I decided to change up some of the apps and generalize the rom in terms of its boot-animation screen. It runs on LauncherPro (just choose it as the "always"/default upon first instance of it. The Launcher that comes with the device isn't so great, but I left it there just in case.
It's based on the first known rooted ROM for this device: 'DocHoppy's ROM'. Credit for most of this ROM goes to him and to 'Wendal' for his toolset for packing the ROM (into cramfs) for the Nextbook 7 Premium device.
As such, it is a beta/ work-in-progress.

-youtube player <- the real youtube app is better
-explorer <- redundant
-slide me app market <- redundant now that Google's Market is installed
-quick search box <- Google Search widget is better IMO
kept/added:
-Market <- the real Google one
-root explorer - an alternative & capable file explorer
-astro file manager <- we all know it well
-quickpic 1.5.2 - a much lighter & more efficient photo organizer/viewer
-3D gallery <- some love it, some hate it
-brightness level 1.0.0 - quicker brightness changes
-ConnectBot 1.6.2 <- for those that need a SSH tool
-Officesuite full <- may as well keep it
-Titanium Backup 4.6.7 <- has some very handy tools aside from backups
-LauncherPro 0.8.6 <- may be old, but it's smooth and capable
-superuser <- because this rom is rooted
-has some of the Google Apps (go ahead and add as you see fit)
-has a custom boot animation.

Known Issue:
Apps2sd reports SU Binary out of date. Attemps to update this via superuser fails due to cramfs file system.
It's not perfect, but it does work well and I run it as my daily driver on my N7P.
Please give feedback or suggestions! I trust the pro devs could easily help me out with the little things!

Since I'm new to modifying/cooking ROMs, here's my
Questions I have for the devs that cook ROMs all the time...
(lol)
Where do I edit the items that show in 'settings > about' in the device?
How do I change the default shortcuts that LauncherPro puts on the dock?
How do I change what icons are default on the home screen?
Where do I put custom wallpapers as part of the rom?
How do I modify Android UI colours?
Can the dialer be removes without losing "contacts"?
How do I create a shortcut to "contacts" without the phone/dialer?
(more to come I'm sure)
Hello, first of all, thanks for your work!
I am having trouble loading this rom. it says there's an invalid image file in my sd card and if I want to delete.
Now, I don't know if my tablet is a never or older version of what you guys have...
Next7p
2.3.1
kernel: 2.6.32.27
build: v2.0.7.....
my serial is also different from alot..it starts with YF0511
any help or tips?
In Dochoppy's original rom/post he mentions that the device will need to have a serial number starting with YF1011. That stands the same for this rom, as it's derived from his.
Having an invalid update.img firmware file could be due to a number of things, but the one I have here works on my device.
I wish I had more of an answer, but by all means try out the tools for repacking the rom.
So after messing around compiling a ROM, I forgot to add a launcher, and now I am stuck in a bootloop. After the girl in the dress is there for awhile, I get a black screen, then reboot. Anyone now how to fix this? I have been searching Google, but can not find anything yet.
Any help would be great!

I had mine half dead for a short bit until i found i could go into a low level bootloader mode and recover it. I am working on getting a the tool/images i used to recover mine uploaded and such.
Download and extract n7p_rescue_kit.zip
Reboot device using paper clip then quickly press and hold reset until you get black screen with usb plugged in
When windows wants driver give it the respective folder for your os (32bit or 64bit) from Drivers folder from the download
Run RK29update.exe if it says "Found RKAndroid Loader Rock Usb" on bottom you are good but if it shows "No Found RKAndroid rock usb" repeat last step.
Either flash all of the default selected items or do just system (since bootloop is in system)
Hope this helps
P.S. If you pack then unpack your custom one you can flash JUST system using the tool but be sure to use the offsets that are pre-loaded.
use a pin to push the reset button on the back to break out of the boot loop.
If after this your rom still bootloops, try putting a different update.img rom to flash, on to the sd card. Then boot into safe mode by holding all 4 front buttons after boot. the update should be found and installed after that.
Thanks!
I registered just to thank DocHoppy for all his efforts. I have a Nextbook Premium 7 I got for Christmas from Hastings, which fell into the YF09111XXXX batch. I used Wendal Chen's RK29xxImageTools_v2.1 to unpack the firmware upgrade from the nextbookusa site. I then put the Google apks, SuperUser, Rootexplorer, and re-packed it with a custom bootanimation. Because of my serial # I couldn't use DocHoppy rom without getting that "Invalid Update" error, but using their firmware seems to work.
My next goal is to find a way to get the "Accounts & Sync" into the settings! One of my apps is getting an "Error 42" which is an Android Market authentication error... however, other apps have worked without any problems so it's difficult to tell if that's the issue I'm having.

Not sure if this rom will work for you, just guessing by your serial number. If it is to work changing between roms on these tablets is very easy. Just download the image onto the root of your sdcard, rename it update.zip (not update.zip.zip) your tablet will recognize it as an update and ask if you want to proceed. If you say yes then follow the prompts and your in business!

Just go this to day and was plesantly suprised to find this rooted rom. Just wanted toy let you know that my S/N is YF12112xxxx and this rom work prefect for me (so far) Thanks for all the work you guys have done here. Also is there anyway to over clock the processor in out tabs?
Thanks for the comments thus far!
I would like to overclock this thing too, but that might be further down the road, as priority is on getting a different file-system for the /system volume.
Version 0.4 is coming next.
FYI:
There will be a larger span of time between updates on this particular rom for the N7p, because I will be using more stable conjumbles of things from other roms for this device. This rom is more of a remix or derivative than an entirely different rom.
Again thanks for all the hard work. I have a few requests. first since we cant change the Adhoc ( using wifi from another android device) on the fly with out RW access can you please add the ability to connect to adhoc wifi in the next build? Also i love google currents app but we cant use is on our device because we don't have map's installed. can that be added as well?

Most of the N7P roms out there now have Market installed and working. Why not just install these apps yourself?
I only suggest so because for the time being, the device is limited to its minimal capacity for apps without full-on apps2SD. Besides, for a tablet like this, you want to keep the system apps to a minimum and de-bloated for performance whenever possible.

[ROM] JXD S7100B ZCR v1_5 + setting [update 16 may]

this rom is only for S7100B
S7100B Zip's Custom Rom 1.5
the philosophy that underlies this first rom (do not expect miracles) is this:
If Android is not at 100% open, with the modifications of the house JXD, it is certainly less
for that cause this rom came WITHOUT any frills, so that the user choose what to have or not have on your console since the emu (not upgradeable) to app (not removable)
v1.5 changelog
-add theme faenza
-add advance task killer
-add my backup of vtl launcher settings
here is the v1.0 changes:
Based on the last official rom for JXD s7100b
- Removed ALL emulators series (since they could not raise it to update)
- Removed all serial applications to be added jxd (because there people who do not use FB Skype etc.)
- Removed serial launcher (really crappy)
-VTL.Launcher 1.6.5-added info link (ADW launcher launcher based on tablet-oriented
-FileManagerHD-added as a manager (much higher than 2 managers istallabili Series)
-Added superuser.apk
Changed clock font
changhed menu font
and that's it for now ..
The next thing I want to add (2.0) have a different boot animation, add a simple task killer, the theme for whiteware adw (if it works on VTL) default background, and another music video player
and then study how to make a backup of the settings of the launcher so who installs from scratch and restore my rom does not have to configure the home
A special thanks goes to SNESFAN and its forum: http://forum.openhandhelds.net/
Bitrider I create a custom rom for the first Android console,
to the reference point of android modding XDA
Android and the whole community
My community reference point for italian open source console users
www.OPENCONSOLE.it
BRIEF-Up Guide
1) get yourself a micro sd and put the files ZCR1.zip
2) make a backup of everything you need to save, (the new rom is really skinny)
3) Introduce the sd in the console
4) turn on the console by holding the keys POWER + MENU(the last button on the right of the 3 keys Android)
5) Wait and you will find in "bootloader)
6) Optional: make wipe of data/user
7) go to apply update from sd and start pressing the start / select
8) navigate and select ZCR1.zip and start the process
9) if all goes well should start installing the custom rom
10) when the process is finished you reboot system
you will come round to set up a launcher!
do not fear the next version will provide a backup of the settings in order to have everything already set
download: http://filesmelt.com/dl/ZCR1.zip
edit 16 may:
there is the 1.5 vers + my vtl launcher setting
download 1.5+ setting: http://www.openconsole.it/download/ZCR1_5s7100b.zip
extract on your sd card
follow the past guide
then go on vtl setting and restore setting
Thanks !

Thank you and a question
First, I want to thank you for the ZCR 1.5 custom rom. It has really been great to have an alternate to the stock firmware. I've been trying to determine how to build my own custom rom for the JXD S7100B, but appear to be missing a step somewhere.
I've constructed a ROM and created the .zip image and then attempted to sign it with signapk.jar with the typical android testkeys. However, every time I attempt to update from sdcard zip file in the recovery menu, I'm greeted with an E:signature not verified error. I've tried to create my own certificates using OpenSSL and sign with those, I've compared the ZCR 1.5 custom rom to the latest firmware update from JXD, I've even tried to simply resign the ZCR1_5.zip image with the testkeys. All attempts have failed. I've scoured the internets for as much information as I can find and I can't see any difference between what I am doing and what I am reading. I've tried executing the signapk.jar under 32-bit XP and under 64-bit Windows 7 just on the off chance that there was a precision discrepancy between the two versions of java.
I'm at a loss and would like to know if you would consider outlining the process you use to sign the .zipped image? Do you use jarsign or signapk or some other tool? Are you signing with something other than the testkey certs?
Thanks,
jkgamer

[Guide] Lenovo Tab 2 A10-70 Root, Recovery, Xposed and Others

I no longer have this tablet. This is an amazing device, and I enjoyed my time with it. Chances are that the information that are here are not the most updated. You can expect updated information at this thread.
There are a lot of scattered information everywhere about this tablet, so this is just an attempt to put those together in one place. Recently this tablet is gaining a lot of users due to its price and performance, I just hope that it helps the new users getting started. This is not my work, so I don't take any credit. No thanks necessary. Please thank the original contributors.
All the steps mentioned here are individually tested by me and at least worked for my device. However, I cannot guarantee that it will work on yours too, and I am not responsible for any damage to your device due to following or not-following this tutorial.
This thread is made possible due to the contribution of XDA members @Sparkrite, @Old faithful, @lee2006 and others. Special thanks to @clsA for providing the download links. Many thanks to @Tzul as stock firmwares and OTA updates were originally obtained from his work @ android-hilfe.de.
And we can not mention well enough the contributions of @Chainfire for root and @rovo89 for Xposed.
1. ROOT
Root with Kingroothttp://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/one-click-root-tool-android-2-x-5-0-t3107461
(Easy Method) Use this method if you don't want to change to a custom recovery
So far it has been reported to be working on the Kitkat 4.4 rom only. The steps are as easy as it could get. download the Kingroot app, and let it do it's work. You shall be rooted.
Replace Kingroot with SuperSu
Now, giving super user access to your device to any app is no joke. And many of us feel a bit uneasy with the Kingroot app. There are 2 ways to replace Kingroot with SuperSu
(Paid option )Use the Super-Sume Pro app app from the play store.
(Free option) Follow this guide here if you are not afraid of getting your hands dirty with couple lines of codes in terminal emulator. Note that the terminal will show a lot of errors, but it will still get the job done.
Root with Custom Recovery
Follow the steps for installing Custom Recovery in section 3
Reboot into Recovery mode.
Use the 'Install Zip' option in your Custom Recovery to install 'BETA-SuperSU-v2.49.zip' and you shall be rooted.
2. Install Xposed Framework
Installing xposed requires a rooted device. Root your tablet with one of the above methods.
Kitkat
Download the Xposed Installer apk. Install the apk, you will get a security warning. You need to check app installation from 'Unknown Sources' in Security settings. Once installed go to the xposed app, under 'Framework' click 'Install/Update' You can ignore the red warning. Restart your device after that. Download any modules you like and start customizing your tablet!
Lollipop
Lollipop requires installing Xposed via recovery, so having a custom recovery besides root is also a requirement. Download the latest version of Xposed. Android 5.0.1 =SDK21, and this tablet runs in ARM 64 bit mode. Download xposed-v##-sdk21-arm64.zip, copy it to the tablet, and install it from custom recovery. The first boot afterwards can a long time 5-10 minutes. Also download and install the latest XposedInstaller app (currently XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4.apk ), to manage the modules.
3. Install Custom Recovery
Install USB driver
This one is a tricky process.
Download SP_Drivers and extract the files.
Start Device Manager on the PC
Turn off the tablet and connect it to the PC via USB cable. Device manager will refresh and show MT67xx vcom for a couple seconds only. Quickly right click on it and select install driver manually, navigating to the directory of the SP_Drivers
Disconnect the tablet
Install TWRP Recovery using SP Flash Tool
Download and extract TWRP for Lenovo Tab 2 A10-70.
Download and extract the latest version of SP Flash Tool
Start SP Flash Tool, in Download tab get the scatter file from the recovery zip package. Use the Android4 file for Android 4.4 Kitkat, and the Android5 file for Android 5 Lollipop. Make sure only the recovery is ticked, and on the drop down menu 'download only' is selected. Click on the location column on the right of 'recovery' and browse to the recovery file depending on your android version.

In SP Flash Tool, click Download.
Connect the turned-off tablet to the PC. Recovery will flash in a matter of seconds and you will get a big green OK on the software.
Close SP Flash Tool.
Remove the tablet and make sure you do not start it, but get into recovery instead. Press 'volume up and power' and maintain that for about 10 seconds, past the vibration and the start of splash screen. A dark screen with very small characters will show up with three options: Recovery, Fastboot and Normal. Don't touch anything unless you make sure you understand what the buttons do. Volume up is used to navigate (go to Recovery), volume down activates the selection. DON'T select any other option! The power button has no effect.
TWRP will start.
Note that if you are already rooted, you can flash recovery via Flashify, Rashr, etc. You can also flash via Fastboot.
4. Flash Stock ROM with SP Flash Tool
There could be many reason to go back to all stock. Soft brick, return device to manufacturer for repair, Downgrade or upgrade OS, etc.
Make sure you have the USB driver installed (procedure in the previous section)
Download Stock ROM. Latest Lollipop A10-70F_S000121_151222_ROW or here. Kitkat A10-70F_S000021_150501_ROW_USER. Extract.
Download and extract the latest version of SP Flash Tool
Power off the tablet and run flash_tool.exe in the extracted SP flash tool folder
Click 'Scatter-loading' and chose MT6752_Android_scatter.txt file in the extracted stock rom folder. Make sure on the drop down menu 'download only' is selected.
Click 'download' and then connect the turned off tablet to the computer. The progress bar will show. It takes about 5 mins for the flash. A big green 'OK' button will show the end of the process. Disconnect the tablet and power it on. It may take up to 10 mins for the first boot. If it still not booting force turn off by pressing on the power button and start again.
The tablet should be powered off when connecting it to the computer, for both installing the preloader drivers and for flashing. This one is a very important step, and it won't work with a turned on tablet.
5. Tips
If you are in stock Kitkat, you can reboot to recovery mode by going to the 'system update' app and clicking the rectangular button on the top right corner.
To give sd card write access to any apps... If you are rooted this can be overcome by using apps like SDFix, HandleExternalStorage xposed module, or others.
Strangely there is no option to change Lockscreen wallpaper in the settings menu. This can be done by opening any image with the default Gallery app and going to 'set picture as'....
6. OTA update to latest version of Lollipop
The latest update mostly fixed the wifi issue many people have been struggling with.
Use SP Flash Tool to flash System and Recovery only from Lollipop firmware provided on section 4. Choose recovery and system only to return to stock. From stock recovery choose install update from sdcard and then choose the lenovoota.zip
Link to OTA >> A10-70F_S000120_150907_ROW_TO_A10-70F_S000121_151222_ROW
first bootup takes about 10 min like any system update

I'm going to just put this here, it really doesn't need it's own thread
This is a TWRP Restore of some stuff I put together for my Tablet
You need the latest Lollipop software installed from #4 above (A10-70F_S000121_151222_ROW_clsA) - and you need the latest TWRP from @Tzul as your custom recovery.
How to install:
01. Boot to TWRP.
02. Create a backup on your external SD card. (Backing up "Boot" is more than enough. We only want TWRP to create the needed directories on your SD card.)
03. Download the backup I uploaded here >> nova.xposed.gsam.airdroid.supersu.zip
04. Unzip the downloaded backup.
05. Copy the unzipped backup folder to "TWRP/BACKUPS/Lenovo_Tab_2_A10-70F/"on your SD card.
06. Restore the backup.
07. Boot to system. First boot may take about 3 or 4 min.
Here's whats in the Restore
Nova Launcher (you can choose it on first boot or use the normal launcher, your choice)
Busybox
SuperSU
Xposed + Xprivacy and Gravitybox
Gsam Battery Monitor
Airdroid
ES File explorer
Terminal Emulator
Custom Wallpapers
bloat apps removed (most google stuff left in)
Boot and shutdown animations disabled.
Here's some screen shots - it's nothing too fancy but it should save you some time setting everything up if you need to redo your system.
If you like these Apps buy the pro versions in the Play store
If you want to thank Tzul for his work you can do so here >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/donatetome.php?u=5919159
Thanks go to
 @Tzul for TWRP
 @Hashbang173 for the Xposed
 @C3C076 for Gravitybox
 @M66B for Xprivacy
and @Chainfire for SuperSU

Great Job, I would add some of the original links for some of the files but what you have here is very effective.
I may try and publish a Custom Rom for this if I get the Time
For reference the files in my AFH account come from these forums

Xposed working on Kitkat
Just found out that xposed is working on the stock kitkat rom.
At this point I am not sure which of the modules are working.
I tried few settings in GravityBox, which worked. Some benefits were obvious, like modding the statusbar, and advanced reboot menu.
Also tried 'Minminguard' and 'HandleExternalStorage'... The last one is quite handy as it fixes the sd card write issue in Kitkat.

I tried it on the Lollipop rom too but it got stuck on the bootscreen.

Sweet deals! But you won't believe, how much I got it for.
It was around black friday form Jet.com. They give an special offer to first time buyers, plus there was another discount on my Amex credit card. I got it for 120$ only. Can you believe it!
It's a hell of a device for the price.
Great post suhridkhan, you should ask one of the mods to place it on the first page of the usual forum.
Just one thing, maybe you should mention in Step 3 that the tablet should be powered off when connecting it to the computer, for both installing the preloader drivers and for flashing.
Again thanks for the post.
Great summary! Helps clean everything up for newbies and help them avoid the lengthy learning process we pioneers had to go through to gather all the necessary information

Amazing! In Canada the best deal was 250 loonies before taxes (approximately 160 dollars at the going rate? Or is it 140 now? ) In my case though, I got a 200 loony voucher from a colleague for a professional reference so in the end it only cost me 92 loonies (about $60). Better yet, my 64GB card cost me 37 loonies including taxes (about $26), just needed to fat32format it and add a line to the platform.xml file in system/etc/permissions folder to make it possible to use on KitKat
In case you were interested:(added 2015-12-31)
- using a root explorer, go to system/etc/permissions/platform.xml
- in the file find "android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE"
- under the line "<group gid="sdcard_rw"/> add "<group gid="media_rw"/>
Save and reboot. Remember to make a backup of the original platform.xml in case of problems
the only other thing SDFixr7 does is to revert the permission to stock should you chose to do so (honestly I cannot think that anyone in their right mind would ever want to do so)
I'm off to another endeavour now, to try to install the ICS based Motoblur Launcher with the CirclesWidget3D that I originally got from my wife's old Droid RAZR HD, it was a lot of hacking back then to get to run on my Note 2, but it's beautiful and the launcher is very efficient, I just can't stand the confusing Lenovo Launcher. I give myself until the end of the week to succeed

You are right about the lenovo launcher, it's totally unpleasant to the eyes. I am using nova launcher. Have you found a way to change the lockscreen wallpaer to sth other than the built in ones, all those are really ugly.
I just hope that somebody ports an AOSP rom for this tablet. I am no developer, but given that the source code is available, may be someone with the know how can make an attempt to it.

I simply removed the lockscreen altogether using Smart Launcher... But I'm going to take a look into the system files to see what I can do and get back to you on this.
As for the launcher backgrounds, I am totally in control of them now
There are two things you need to do, Simple Image Wallpaper, it's a live wallpaper, allows you to select two different images one for horizontal and for vertical. Basically I use both so I get the full frame in horizontal and vertical and voilà, perfect backgrounds
Horizontal:
Vertical:
And before you ask... No, this isn't the CirclesWidget3d, not nearly as nice, no 3d, but this version works with any launcher. This happens to be the Smart Launcher with Smart Launcher 2 theme. Good enough for now... Pictures are from my neck of the woods, taken a couple of months ago.

So I looked up the the lockscreen image, the file is system/etc/keyguard_wallpaper.png and is exactly 1800x1800. So make one in that format, make a backup of the original and rename your custom image with that name, reboot and let us know what came of it. Heck, while you're at it why don't you try a transparent .png, who knows, perhaps you'll get your homescreen wallpaper showing through the lockscreen? Nah, it'll probably be a mess, the lockscreen clock will interfere with the one on your homescreen
Disclaimer: remember this is untested... make sure you know how to restore that file from recovery should your custom one prevent normal startup... I didn't test this... you are going to be the guinea pig... Caveat lector!

First of all you live at a lovely place. The picture is so great. :good:
Smart launcher is a nice touch. But I think I am sticking with nova launcher because of its aosp look. (personal preference I guess)
There is a much simpler solution to changing lockscreen wallpaper, I have been stupid to not see it before. If you open any image with the stock Gallery app, then go 'set picture as', it gives you option for changing both desktop and lockscreen wallpaper.

Hey thanks for the compliments... I use QuickPick and it does as well... But for home screen wallpapers (I don't use a lockscreen, heck, I usually don't even lock the doors to my house) nothing that I've tried so far beats simple image wallpaper

Good guides, suhridkhan!
Some notes:
In section 3. Install Custom Recovery, you wrote "speedboot". That should be fastboot.
In section 4. Flash Stock ROM with SP Flash Tool, I'd explicitly state to use the "Download Only" flash mode. It's the default mode, but some people might be tempted to play with it, and that's bad, as the other two modes (Format All + Download, Firmware Upgrade) will wipe clean the entire flash memory, as far as I know. Including invisible and important partitions like NVRAM. Just take a look at this bad guide (on the official Lenovo forums no less) that uses Format All, and how people who followed it comment that they're getting NVRAM errors (because they lost their WLAN and Bluetooth MAC addresses and config)...

Fastest Boot Animation

Ok so i found something on Lollipop & Marshmallow i figured i'd share with you all.
Do you want the fastest possible Boot Animation?
Do you care really what it looks like?
IF the answer is YES & NO i have the solution for you
It's called the default android boot animation !
It is the word Android spelled out in pulsing white with the newer droid font.
It's the full width of the screen with a black background.
And i noticed it made my phone seem like it was booting faster :good:
So..
How do i get it?
You need root access and you can probably choose what method you want to do it..
The basic idea is to go and rename or remove the BootloaderAnimation.zip
I chose to use RootExplorer to go in and rename the file.
But i bet TWRP or other ways would work too.
Go here.. /System/Media/bootanimation.zip
The newest Marshmallow Animation is almost 10mb so killing it i think does help it boot faster.
Enjoy your NO BootAnimation
I think you can fully disable bootanimation with this command:
debug.sf.nobootanimation=1

in build prop. After that it should fully disable bootanimation (there will be only black screen) but I'm not sure about it because last time I was using this on Android 2.3 but you can give it a try, imo it should work.

Thanks that is interesting got me poking around with the adb console then google.
[Android 2.1+][25.08.2012][v3.0] live dmesg / logcat boot animations [ROOT]
Google that WTF LOL
I also seen some guys who made a BootAnimation that emulates the PC Bios boot ..cool !
I guess i am veering off topic but i didn't know about alternate options.
But this topic had guys discussing your command if people are interested..

worked smootly on Moto E 2015 -resurrection-remix-v5-8-0-t3509463 (Android N 7.1_r7)
(even faster than just rename the bootlogo.zip)
I remember coming across this before in 5.1. Yes it made it faster but, it just looks plain and boring.
