There is a thread to request new device forums to be added, but there are several criteria that need to be met before the device gets its own forum. It will require a lot of custom development to be already available before it gets a forum. The device must also have a large community of people using it. Those are the two main requirements, there are more so you've got some waiting to do before it gets a forum, IF it ever gets one.

I would be interested in this as well, but I don't think a post like this is the right way to go about getting the information you seek - but I could be wrong after all I am just a noob.
Have you searched in the forums here, specifically the developer forums? There are literally thousands/millions of threads and it is almost a certainty that what you're looking for is already out there. Alternatively, have you tried Google? I just typed "create android custom rom" into Google and it returned five XDA threads related to creating custom roms and a google code site regarding a tool for creating custom roms.
Knowledge is power my friend. :good:
There are definitely better ways to go about it than creating this thread. No offense, but lots of people have asked this in a community of 5 million plus enthusiasts.

thank you you must be smarter than me . it was a question for a developer to see therefore posted in this section, not being for actual development would be also incorrect, so maybe i can see through your eyes as you see this post in the incorrect spot although my post is still in guidance of forum rules but whatever you say works best...where ever the answers may lie big boss man

This is for development releases. You are not releasing anything development wise. That's why xda has a great Q & A section

please delete this modder person im going to ask it in another section.

But to answer your question. No. You need root access to get into a secure area of your device

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Original Development would be a section where coders who write android programs/Roms/Kernel from scratch/AOSP, opposed to writing hacks/modifications/unofficial nightlies for pre-existing software originally written by someone else.

Petty much.
Although in "original" the meaning is that the larger percentage of it is your work. If you take kernel source (with permission and credits etc) and add a couple of functions to it, then that is not original. But if you take it and add substantial functions such as dual boot, works on Stock/AOSP and then some - perhaps you can argue it is different enough from the original to be original again
This is a long, but good read. The answer to your question is within it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47033844

And I found it at the end of the document xD. Thanks to all for answering.
In other forums like Gnexus, galaxy S or Htc magic, there wasn't two sepparate development sections I think.
Thks

No, my only question was which was the difference between the two forums, I knew all the other things

I found out the other day that I am getting a Nexus 5 as a birthday gift next week and was just wondering what tips/recommendations the community has in terms of what to when I initially get it. I am familiar with android so I know what I need/want to do in terms of basic things like software updates and homescreen configuration but am curious if there are any tips out there that may be a bit more advanced that will help get the most out of the device. Please save yourself the time and don't mention anything regarding rooting or custom ROMs. I have decided not to root for the time being. Thanks

You don't just come here and request a ROM, that isn't how it works. That's rude and lazy, this isn't a support forum.
You have to search for it yourself. If none exist for your device then you can wait until when/if someone decides to build one for that model or you can learn to build it yourself.

Lol, nice try. The purpose of this forum is to make information freely available, it's up to the user to find what they need though. We don't spoon-feed and hold people's hands around here.
We generally inform and point you in the right direction, we give specific answers when specific answers can be given. There are no specific answers or specific 100% guaranteed to work guides out there for building ROMs so a specific answer can't be given.
If you want to learn how to build a ROM then start researching, there is plenty of information available about it.
The purpose of this forum/website in not to be a support forum, it's a forum to discuss custom development. It has just evolved into a bunch of everyday users coming here wanting to update or fix their phones.
