How do I take a Screenshot? - Google Pixel Questions & Answers

I feel stupid asking this but the power and volume down combination is not working for me no matter how many times I try. Is there another simple method to take screenshots?

Pushing this combination makes my volume actually go up.

There's also an option for a three finger pinch screenshot in settings>gestures

I took my case off and tried and it worked. The fault of the way the buttons are aligned I guess. Anyhow, I don't see the 3 finger option in the settings (moves). Is this unique to the Verizon version maybe?

Must have been part of one of the ROMs I was using sorry

You can long press on the home button and once the assistant shows up, slide to the bottom of the page. There's an option for screenshot

Do you all know that power + volume down takes a screen shot?

Well you do now.
Just asking because I see screen shot in most of the power options in the ROMs for the HOX and I don't understand why. XD

That blew my mind. Lol.
No but seriously, it's built into stock as power volume down, you have to hold them.

What rom are you on? It's doesn't work for everyone I have only seen it work on cleanrom.

Pretty sure default has always been power+home. Power down doesn't do jack for me....well, it turns off my screen after my phone goes to vibrate.
Learn something new every day...
[POWER] + [HOME] on stock 1.85.
Power + down is the stock ICS way of doing it and it works...sorta. You have to get the timing right or else it'll just turn off your screen, bring your power menu up, or mess with your volume.
Power + Home is just so much easier though...

It worked for me on stock and still does on CleanROM 4.0
Hit them at the same time and hold them. Home is dumb for me I don't like the path it saves to.

Yup, power+home has been how HTC has done it for some time now, since before ICS.

Well geeze guys! Just sharing my discovery! XD
Also, I wish it'd get taken out of the power menu. Don't need 3 ways to take a screen shot.

Well I'll be damned. I don't think I could do the ics way while drinking though. simul button push while under the influence of scotch could prove troubling.

And nobody says there is anything wrong with that!
I was just pointing out the fact that HTC has included this feature since before Google decided to incorporate it in ICS.
Also, its interesting that HTC decided to include both their own method, and the Google way. HTC typically seems to prefer their own way of doing things, and removing the more "AOSP-ish" components.
where is it saved to then?

Holding power and volume down at the same time is native to ICS and will save the screenshot to
/mnt/sdcard/pictures/screenshots
if I'm not mistaken. The One X can also take screenshots via home and power button. This will save the screenshot into a new folder DCIM or just drop them into /camera. I cant remember.

I hate the volume down+home, lol. When I hold the phone in my left hand and go to press home with my thumb it sometimes takes a screenshot.
On a random note, I feel like the HOX and a lot of other phones are easy to use one handed. I have slightly larger than average hands, but people should just put their pinky right under the home key on the edge if they need to. ANYWAY

Button bindings

Does the Galaxy SIII (stock) have screen capture ability like the fassy and charge?? If so what are the button bindings, I remember home and back button together, but can't seem to get it to work.
Thanks to all that reply!

I think one is volume key and home (not sure). Easiest way when on a stock based ROM is to turn on the motion where you slide your hand from left to right across the screen to take a screen shot.
Sent from a strange blue box hurtling through time and space.
If your wanting a screen shot then it's the home + lock button. Hold them for like 3 seconds

2 More ways..........
You can also 'wipe' the screen with the side of your hand from left to right. The last way is to press the button on the s-pen and touch and hold the tip of the screen whilst still holding the button in.

There are lots of ways. Hold the S Pen button down and long press on the display. Wave your hand vertically across the display. With the S Pen button pressed outline what it is you want to capture.

The knox install screen. It can't be captured by the Note3 itself.

How to do a screen shot on X2 702L?

This one is one of the fastest and most convenient ways to take a screenshot on your Huawei MediaPad X2. Just follow these quick steps to take one right now:
Step 1 – Open the application/screen which you want to take a screenshot of.
Step 2 – Now press and hold the Power and Volume Down buttons together.
Step 3 – You will see a quick animation and hear a feedback sound that will show that a screenshot was just taken.

Hit volume down and power at the same time. You have to be precise though or you'll end up just decreasing the volume.

Quick screenshot?

FWIW the only way I am able to take a quick screenshot in certain apps (eg Camera) if I have the screenshot button added to my primary nav bar... is there any way to use the Power + Down combo, like on any Android phone, without triggering a creen shutoff (ie Power click takes precedence)? Also for the latter one has to really do gymnastics as this requires the squeeze-push which is not something you can do with two fingers, you have the get a grip on the slab...
For now using two buttons for screenshot is not working, that's why you have to use the button on navbar. They are working on it, that both buttons work together.
But you can also map the edge sense to make a screenshot of long or short squeeze

You can also add this button to your secondary navbar, and swype between those in every App.
