Stock 7.0 boot.img? - HTC One A9

Hi, can someone help me out by extracting stock boot.img? I can't get it from the OTA or ruu. This would be great, thanks. I can't open the nougat firmware.zip from the OTA like I could for the 1.57 ROM, should I just flash the whole firmware.zip?

Here's what you need. If you'd like to extract it yourself, see this thread.
You'll need the keyfile that I uploaded. It is available at either link.

[Q] How to flash BeastMode v3.0 in 1.14 hboot?

Hi all. I am rooted on 2.20, have 1.14 hboot. My understanding in flashing Kernels under the 1.14 hboot is to extract the boot.img from the kernel zip I downloaded, flash it in fastboot, then flash the entire zip within TWRP. BUT I do not see the boot.img in the BeastMode v3.0 zip file that I extracted. Am I missing something? I am trying to flash the BeastMode v3.0 kernel in the ViperXL ROM. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

You must extract the boot.img via adb after you flash the kernel. Have a look at post #10 in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1959395. Thats what worked for me.

Hi,
Why can you not just flash a stock ROM?
Look HERE
Choose the correct ROM for your phone.
I have an arabic rom rooted just want to know how to zip the recovery.img to keep that rom and to be able to OTA my phone,
becouse with stock bootloader i can not flash recovery threw fastboot commands i need to have the recovery in PG58IMG.zip file

Unless you REALLY know what you're doing, do not mess with trying to create your own PM58IMG's. You can brick your phone beyond the possibility of recovery by flashing a bad PM58IMG file.

Ok the zip should have
android-info.txt and what ever contains you want to flash (in this case recovery.img)
Now for android-info.txt.. Extract one from any firmware zips available here
And open it
Add/edit your modelid, cid, and firmware version
All these variables you can get from your phone via this command
fastboot getvar all
(model id, cid, version-main)
That's all

The editing of android-info.txt is not proper it seems
Use notepad+ and edit it again after extracting (you need unicode editor to prevent any spaces at the end)
Edit:
Or better do this
Get the hboot patch at the end of first post in firmware thread by kohr-ah in sensation development section.. Then unzip it.. Delete the hboot and add your recovery.img then rezip it and use it

Can you please teach me how to restore everything?
I have read your guide but I think it will not be applicable(?) in my case since my phone is Asia WWE and there is no available RUU for K2_UL.
Thanks!
I think, the best for you is, read and follow this thread.

During downgrade of hboot, I have received the ff. error:
Model ID incorrect! Update Fail!
When I run the command on Terminal Emulator, I got 2 model IDs:
PL8010000, PL8015000
Please help.
Thanks!
The hboot downgrade is only for european phones. There is no RUU for your asia model. You have another radio.img.

That's sad news..
I think the problem is that my hboot cannot be downgraded, since the RUU issue can be solved using @russellvone 's method.
Anyway, thanks a lot!
You can update with a special firmware.zip. You need to backup your radio.img first, and replace it with the one inside the firmware.zip. Then you need to edit the model id in the android-info.txt of firmware.zip.
This must be flashed and then you can restore a european backup/rom.
Maybe @renanski still has his radio.img and can share it with us. He has also asia k2ul.

Thanks! My hboot was successfully downgraded!
But when I run the RUU, I'm getting an "MODEL ID ERROR."
I tried to extract the rom from temp files (as instructed by @russellvone in the other thread) but I am always getting a corrupted zip.
There was another method mentioned in that thread, using an extractor, but unfortunately, I have no linux pc to run the program.
Maybe @wilson3q or any of you guys can share the rom file.
And please enumerate again the correct procedure in flashing, as I was not able to get it clearly on the other thread.
Please help.
Thanks again.

This way is only for a model with existing RUU!
Lets try another way:
Download this firmware.zip: http://d-h.st/69V
Make sure, the android-info.txt is correct for your model id. Replace the radio.img inside, with the one from russel, the rename the firmware.zip to PL80IMG.zip and put it on your sdcard. Boot into bootloader, confirm to flash. After that, install twrp recovery and flash my stock odexed rom.

If you are S-On, then:
flash Rom via custom recovery after you have conducted a factory reset wipe from within your custom recovery, to include the system partition which can be found in the advance options if using TWRP.
Then, wipe dalvik cache and cache after it finishes
Then, reboot your bootloader, and via fastboot, flash the boot.img which would require you to extract it from the Rom and placing it where your proper adb/fastboot files are on your PC. Use this command:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
If you are S-Off, then just flash the Rom via custom recovery as explained above. You will not need to flash the boot.img via fastboot. Just wipe dalvik cache and cache after it finishes, and reboot your device.

Radio zip flash Help

I updated the firmware to 2.18, and eventually tried flashing other radios to try and better my reception...only making me want to return to the radio supplied with Firmware 2.18 (1.35a.32.45.27_10.144.32.34aL). I tried extracting the radio from the Firmware zip file and flashing using adb, but getting a "Failed (remote not allowed).
If someone would be so kind to create a flashable zip for this radio, it would be much appreciate (as i don't see it listed in the current Radio Thread).

timmaaa, do you think it be worthy of asking this request in the Radio/Ril thread? Wasn't sure which section it would be appropriate to request someone to create the 1.35 radio flashable zip file.
I'm doing some investigating, I haven't made one before so I'm a bit apprehensive. It wouldn't hurt to request it, just tag the thread owner. You'll need to provide him with a direct link to whatever he requests though, to make it as easy as possible for him.

OK...I may do that.
I ended up just reflashing the 2.18 firmware, and got the radio back. I was a little apprehensive too in doing this, but it seemed to work. It would be nice to have the 1.35 radio zip file though.
Thanks for all your help/insight. Your definitely and asset to xda!

Actually there is only a ruu.exe for the US unlocked version af the a9 so that fits not wth your device.
But you need to get S-OFF first, then change cid and mid and convert to US unlocked and than your good to go.
Link to the thread for converting is here. https://forum.xda-developers.com/one-a9/development/s-off-convert-to-htc-usa-unlocked-1-12-t3271861
Take the latest mm 6.01 rom-zip to convert and then take the ota or use the ruu.exe

Technically yes, you could flash the system.img, but you would also need Nougat's boot.img. Nougat's boot image will not boot on any older firmware.
To upgrade to the firmware from a different MID/CID, you NEED s-off.
Bottom line...you need s-off to upgrade to the Nougat release from the US Unlocked variant. There is no other method.

Sure...the RUU is here. It will cost you $30 to get access to it.
If you want a system image, you can extract it from any RUU you wish. You'll need the RUU Extraction Tool, which is available in another thread here on XDA. The OTA is designed to only patch certain portions of an existing system partition. OTA zips do not contain a system image.
You can flash the Nougat images through recovery if you want, but THEY WILL NOT WORK. You will soft brick your phone! It will not work! The firmware (radio, bootloaders, etc.) are different! 1.xx firmware is not compatible with 2.xx boot images!
If you want HTC's Nougat on your phone, you have three options:
1. S-off your phone and follow the convert to US unlocked guide.
2. Wait until if/when Nougat OTA is available for your A9 variant.
3. Buy a phone that is already officially supported.
Please take the advice provided to you by @MGfusion, @alray, @scotty2000, me, and possibly others in multiple threads on this forum.
If you are unable to s-off, you will not be able to use the software contained in the Nougat RUU for US unlocked at this time. THERE IS NO OTHER WAY.
If you are unable to follow instructions, nobody on this site will be able to help you.
I would advise you to stop modifying your phone until you've done more READING on this forum. Without the proper RUU, s-off, or unmodified image files, you will not be able to return to stock.
