Hi all. I am rooted on 2.20, have 1.14 hboot. My understanding in flashing Kernels under the 1.14 hboot is to extract the boot.img from the kernel zip I downloaded, flash it in fastboot, then flash the entire zip within TWRP. BUT I do not see the boot.img in the BeastMode v3.0 zip file that I extracted. Am I missing something? I am trying to flash the BeastMode v3.0 kernel in the ViperXL ROM. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

You must extract the boot.img via adb after you flash the kernel. Have a look at post #10 in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1959395. Thats what worked for me.

THANKS!
Beastmode 4 is out. You can now flash in recovery. Even with the new hboot.

I dont know what went wrong, i just flash the 3.1.1 update in fastboot.
But still my DS is 3.1.0.
Is this because my DS is hboot 2.00.0002 and S-ON?
Is there a way to s-Off with this hboot?

What did u flash in fastboot?
The entire update?
The update needs to be flashed from CWM or 4EXT
The boot.img in the update needs to be flashed from fastboot for HTC dev users

I've flashed every single compatible kernel there is for android 4.0.4 (I'm using the lastest ViperXL Rom) and it keeps returning to the original kernel that comes with the rom.
Is this a rom limitation or something wrong with my recovery?

What's your hboot?
Are you flashing boot.img from fastboot first before you install the kernel, if you have 1.14?

fastboot flash boot boot.img
Or downgrade your hboot
hello guys sorry for making 2 new threds lately but im scared for my one x.Im on clean rom 5.1 and want to get this rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1959099&page=65
Its JB milestone.Im scared of flashing because some people say i have to flash a boot.img.Do i have to ? Or should i just wipe data and install it through twrp? Thx for the help
If your on hboot 1.14 you'll have to. Its simple really. Download Rom onto phone, flash entire Rom and gapps through recovery. Also gave a copy if that Rom on computer. extract, drop boot.img inside adb/fastboot folder. right click on adb/fastboot folder, type -->
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Reboot and enjoy

Nope.
Hi, I flashed rom, but wifi is not working.
If someone could assist me with hboot and radio?
With other roms I had no trouble with anything, so some assist with hboot and radio would be needed to get this rom working.
ViperSAGA 2.1.1 with all otas
HBOOT-2.00.0002
RADIO-3822.10.08.04_M
stock kernel, Amibuddha btb and patched
with either wifi not working... :/
AW: ViperSAGA 2.1.1 Wifi not working
I don't think this can have anything to do with radio or hboot. I assume you flashed the boot.img after flashing the Rom and after every kernel installation (the boot.img from the kernel you flashed)?

You are htcdev unlocked, still s-on. This means you can't write to the /boot partition from recovery, only through fastboot. So after flashing a new Rom or kernel, you have to extract the boot.img and flash it manually in cmd.

Hi, I wanna flash this rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2425839) and it says I need HBOOT 2.15 (which I have) in order to update the kernel to 3.4. After I do that, will I be able to downgrade to my old kernel? or is it as simple as just reinstalling my old rom which had an older kernel?
Thanks!

You have 2.15 hboot so you are ok to install that rom.
I assume you are S-on so whenever you install a rom through your custom recovery just the Rom is installed. The kernel hasn't been changed, you need to fastboot flash the boot.img to install the kernel.
To find the boot.img you will need to open the Rom.zip on your pc and copy the boot.img to your fastboot folder. You will need to do that whenever you try a new Rom, or want to try a different kernel from the development section.
