[Q] single or multi core

I want to know that dual core will save the battery or its more power hungry than one core in android phone?
If both cores are working, they will both use power.
Some phones have apps available which will turn all cores off, except for 1. Then the device will use less battery.

Thanks

Thanks for your reply, I will buy a dual core phone but with good battery backup.

It really depends on its architecture. If it uses a newer architecture, in general, it will consume less power and perform better than the processors with old architecture.
If you compare processor with the same architecture but one is running on one core while the other is on two core, then its obvious that the one with the dual core proc would need more power
A sample of case study that you want to look at if you want to get a better grip of it: comparison between htc one x/galaxy s3(quadcore but older architecture) vs htc one s(s4) (dual core but newer architecture)
I love my single-core phone, but the battery still doesn't last very long. I don't know if a dual core would be much worse, it also depends on the battery capacity.

New LG volt for VM and BOOST

I got this phone a few days ago, I have to say the most inexpensive smart phone for the specs out there. After about 12 hours of low use I still have 90% battery. The 1.2ghz quad core proccessor isnt as power hungry as these new 2.5ghz snapdrag 801 processors. And when you are on a budget $180 isn't too bad. However, Hard core usage may only allow this phone to last 12-15 hours but that would still get most anyone through the day! This is by far the best battery life I have EVER gotten from a phone, what is the best battery life you have gotten without extended battery?
I got about 15 to 18 hours on heavy usage. It's pretty freaking sweet!

CPU states

Hi,
So I have honor 6 H60_L04 rooted .
I have better battery stats installed.
When I look at the CPU states, the maximum state it goes to is only 1.3ghz. I know this phone has like dual quad core, 1 for heavy processing, another for daily/light activities.
I've tried using performance mode, running antutu benchmarks, but the 1.7ghz state doesn't seem to appear at all under the statistic.
I've also tried normal power state mode.
Do you know any idea how to activate the fasterr processor?

honor 6 has two sets of quadcore processors(arm big.little configuration)
the cpu apps shows only the frequencies of little i.e, the little 1.3ghz processor and not the bigger 1.7ghz set
see cpu z app if you have any doubts
I believe the kirin architecture uses 4 cortex A15 cores and four energy efficient A7 cores. During normal use the A7s run at a max of 1.3ghz (fine for general use) and the A15 cores are under clocked. Then for intensive use (gaming etc) the A15 cores run at 1.7ghz
Here is an attached screen shot of my cpu-z
At the bottom of the screen, it says interactive governor.
But i did plenty of antutu benchmarks. Shouldn't that work the A15 cores to 1.7ghz? Or is better battery stats not showing me the second quadruple cores states?

More than likely BBS only reading the A7 cores. In CPU-Z for example, if I constantly click the square task button in the navigation bar and then click CPU-Z I can see the speed go up to 1.7Ghz.
Also until/unless Huawei release the kernel source there won't be any ability to overclock unfortunately... which is frustrating as the A15 can easily be clocked to 2GHz :crying:

Coool.. Thanks alot! The A15 does go up to 1.5Ghz+++ when i spam the screen or buttons while in CPU-Z. So it is BBS then that is not tracking the A15 cores. Thanks agaiN!

Thank you for your assistance.
update
I used SP Flash tool and upgrated the phone to kitkat 4.4.2 and i putted to be charged...
1th test with phone running..
The battery have 2% at that time...and after 12h the battery was 47%. Normaly its charged in 3-4h
2th test with phone shutdown..
After 2h on charging battery stayed at 10%...but the phone shows that is charging..
