Hey Folks,
Having an odd one with my new perfect nexus 5. I use the LG HBS730 BT Headset and while I play any sound I am unable to fully mute the audio. I tried lowering it via the volume on the phone and headset. It lowers but not mute it fully, the low volume is still pretty loud.
Anyone else tried this? Works perfect on my old phone as well as my iPad, when I lower it fully it'll mute but not on my nexus.
Thoughts?
Btw tried it with Google Play Music and YouTube, same issue.
The HBS730 is loud as hell on its lowest setting. The 700 is normal. The reason it is so loud on the Nexus is the Bluetooth is now linked up volume wise. The problem is the 730 not the nexus.

Its not about being loud my issue, its the fact that i am unable to mute the audio. I can do this on an HTC One XL, S4, and iPad.
With the Nexus, i cant mute it.

I could mute mine on 4.3, but not 4.4. Like I said, the OS in 4.4 now links up Bluetooth Volume level to the media volume level. This leads to it being unable to be muted since you can't turn down the volume past the lowest the headset offers. The closest thing you can do is pause, but that's it.
FYI, I have 2 HBS730's, and a HBS700.

Any fix? I am using an equalizer as a workaround but it's kind of inconvenient. The equalizer app sometimes got killed and then the volume jumps (and so do I)!
I have this headset and I love it. unfortunately I have the same problem in that even on its lowest setting its pretty loud.
Hey everyone,
Found out my company is ditching Sprint for Verizon which means I have to part with my beloved Nexus 5.
Anyway, from what I've been reading on here it seems like the M8 is really the only Verizon phone that can be rooted. I've had a few HTC phones over the years, including the M7, but they never seem to get along with my car's stereo. The phone part works fine but when I stream music via Bluetooth there is always a great deal of distortion in the high end. Especially on cymbal crashes. This makes it pretty much unlistenable. I'm curious if anyone has experienced anything like with with the M8? I've Googled it a few times and found threads about the One X and One M7 having this problem but have yet to see anything about the M8.
I don't stream to my car often, but on the handful of times I have, I didn't notice any sound issues. This was using Pandora and Google Music, on a Ford (2008 model).

Just got my jaybird x's today and guess what. Filled with static. I could not be more annoyed with this particular phone right now. Three defects in one model I mean come on. Speaker crackle. Screen is creased and looks like you're pressing down on a TV and now Bluetooth has static

I can't say for certain, but I imagine bluetooth audio issues would most likely be due to whatever is actually playing the music, not the phone. Bluetooth audio, in general, is terrible - unless you're using something like the HTC Stereoclip which does not use that same audio codec that just about everything else does. You could have lossless flac files on your phone, and 9/10 times it's gonna sound like crap over bluetooth, no matter what the music is being sent from.
I stream daily over Bluetooth and it sounds amazing. Vzw.

Just plugged mine into my aftermarket JVC GPS stereo on a my truck which gets only occasional use these days. Have to say I was somewhat blown away when I pushed some Comfortably Numb into the 5 speakers (Inc sub) and cranked up the volume. Most impressive...
The wife gets terrific sound from her N7 to some small bluetooth speakers we got last year and has no issues unless she's using TuneIn at which point it goes from OK to awful.
I say this to simply point out that the invariable rule of YMMV seems to hold sway here but I don't think the M8 has any generic systematic failure with bluetooth audio.

This is true. But I'm talking hiss/distortion like a speaker is blown. I'm just streaming Spotify to my cars stereo and not expecting flawless audio but the issues I have with the M7 were unlistenable.

From what I understand, it has something to do with HTC setting the bitpool value too low. Which, in itself, might not be a big deal but it might just be a issue with that value combined with my car's stereo. I just don't want to lose root when I move to Verizon.

Maybe the stereo in your car just sucks? Streaming Pandora over BT in my car usually sounds great. I mean granted it's not as good as using headphones, but it sounds pretty damn good.
Also, I streamed some more over this last weekend, and while the quality was still good, it did disconnect once for no apparent reason. And once it happened, I remembered that it happened a few weeks ago as well. Same thing, I was just driving along both times, and my BT just seemed to shut off. I turned BT back on, reconnected Sync (it's damned annoying how Sync never automatically reconnects), and it worked again for the rest of the weekend.

I saw that an OTA for the M8 pushed out today (I think) that was supposed to fix some Bluetooth issues. I won't if the disconnects were addressed.
I'm M8 should be here on Monday. I really hope it works out OK. I don't want to send it back for an iPhone. :crying:
Another OTA? Has anyone else heard this? I am having a really rough time with bluetooth headset outgoing voice quality so some sort of fix would be awesome.

If the phone volume is at max it will distort. When I turn the volume to max while streaming Bluetooth to my car stereo it sounds crackling and distorted. Turning volume down 2 clicks to about 85% on the phone fixes it

It's not a volume thing. I've tried turning it down when I had the M7 and it sounded the same.

Again, sorry, but it may just be your stereo. When Bluetooth streaming to my car I always have my phones media volume maxed and I control the listening volume via the car volume, and it sounds fine.

Do you have an aftermarket stereo? I've had 4 different head units on my car, all high end Sony and clarion and all had same thing with max volume all my previous 3 phones ( rezound, s4, and m8). Just curious if it's just aftermarket decks that have this issue which I really don't consider an issue. I prefer to have the volume lower on the source and let my deck and equalizer provide the output anyway.

No, it's a factory Ford stereo. If you know someone with a factory BT compatible stereo, maybe try pairing your phone to their car and see if streams with or without distortion?
I mean, it's possible your particular phone itself could be bad. I just don't think it's all M8's since I don't have a problem, and because I imagine we would have seen a lot more complaints.
For six months I have been playing music in my car with a one (M7) via Bluetooth, with very annoying vibrations that eventually damaged my car stereo. I just found out that if I launch the media app via the "HTC car" app, the volume is much louder and I don't have those vibrations anymore. By default the HTC car app in the M7 only includes the default "Music" app, but other media apps may be added.
Hope this may help for the M8 too.
By these vibrations detroyed my car stereo, and I had to change it. I am pretty annoyed that HTC doesn't mention this anywhere, and leaves it to the user to find out.
Anyone else notice the audio output via BT to be rather low? Connected this to my card (Ford explorer) and I have to almost double the speaker volume from what I had used with my Note 3..

Had this problem today in a 2014 Dodge. the G3 has separate BT volume. SO basically I had to max out my phone volume to make it normal.
Thought i'd mention this just in case you missed it.
BT headset volume is fine but music playback through my car BT is pretty low. Like what was mentioned you need to make sure the BT volume on your G3 is turned up all the way or you will have no bump at all.
I've had lower volume issues with a wired headset. It's like I need a booster.

Works much better now.
Have you guys tried the XPOSED module Viper4Android app? I believe it has a way to boost the overall sound for headphones, phone speaker, Bluetooth, and USB Dock (all independently). It also has lots of other great sound tweaks too.
EDIT - Viper4Android isn't part of the xposed framework. It does require root, but otherwise is a regular app.

Afte rooting I installed Viper4Android and everything is amazing! I haven't ran Bluetooth but my headphone sound has increased 10 fold.
Compelling. I have hints of a minor problem with a wired headset volume. But I still feel there's no overwhelming evidence that returning to stock is completely dependable for the 850d.

I just wanted to clear up some mis-information. The Viper4Android app does not require the Xposed framework. I installed it while working with other modules and incorrectly associated it with xposed in my mind. But it is a freestanding app, not related to xposed. It does however require root privileges.
I just wanted to mention that since I posted some inaccurate information above.....

When youre connected to a BT device the volume control is for that BT device or connection.
I am on a custom ROM by Fulmics and my BT volume for calls is about 1/3 as loud as for streaming media.
Notifications are normal, it started when ringtone was quieter when BT was on, rings through BT and barely through phone, previously it rang loud on phone and just noticeable on BT... I use the BT for work and I can't have me not hearing what support is instructing me to do on a service call...
Will look into dev mode and tweaks and see if something is there to correct this low volume.
Yes I noticed this and there is a build.prop perameter that can be changed it's called : ro.lge.bt_gain_control_factor
I belong the factory setting is 0.8 I have mine set to 1.4 without issue but YMMV

Hi I seem to have a problem with sound when using wired headphones for music. When I increase the volume to the top of scale the sound changes slightly / volume and tone. The left speaker goes quieter at one point until I click up to the top level. I need to check whether this occurs on external volume and bluetooth headphones...
I'm actually sure I received a small electric shock from the right earphone a couple of days ago too - it wasn't static as I was sat at my desk and hadn't moved!
Is anyone else experiencing this or is it likely I have a duff example?
thanks

Using a UK G955F and don't have the same issue. Are you just using the phone stock? No viper or atmos installed?
Edit: Don't suppose you have a spare set of headphones to rule out the phone or the AKG's being the cause?

Just checked with the older white samsung earphones and same issue. No Viper or ATMOS.
I've just reported to Samsung and they have set up a remote fault investigation tomorrow evening.
It feels like a hardware issue but even if it is can Samsung rep in CPW stores exchange samsung devices or will I at minimum need to go to an experience store (not one locally but do have a CPW!).

So I've tried my bluetooth headphones that work fine.
The phones speaker works fine.
It seems to be a problem using the plugged in earphones - not just the supplied ones either. The issue is def just at the top of the volume scale - turn it up to the top level and sound in right side decreases a little and tone changes.
Will update after this evenings call.
After speaking to Samsung they want to exchange it but their stocks are low already so exchange being done on Tuesday.

Then i played a song on vlc on my computer on 250% sound and blew a small hole present just below the main hole with my full capacity for 5 6 times... n bang!!! It was playing allright like n new one. I don't know it will work for others but i wanted to share this. Thanks
Hi
Right speaker becomes quieter than left one when volume increases greater than 88.
Is it a software problem.
