[Guide] Gear S3 Frontier (765A) Carrier Unlock - Samsung Gear S3

Ok, so after a lot of trial and error, I've figured out how to successfully unlock the device. Up front, I have been unsuccessful at getting another carrier to pick up the watch, as they don't really understand eSIM configuration yet...but Verizon is working on it.
The CODE is the same as it was for unlocking the old SGS3.
1. Purchase the watch out of contract from your carrier.
2. For AT&T, follow the normal online unlock procedure. Wait your 48 hours and get the unlock code from the carrier.
3. Go to About Device
4. Scroll to Software Version
5. Tap the screen 5 times, and a keypad will appear
6. Type #7465625*638*#
7. A screen will appear that says "Personalisation. Enter NCK"
8. Enter the unlock code that AT&T gave you. Hit OK.
9. It will begin a blue rotating clockwise circle around the screen. Wait for about a minute until it shows "Notify SUCCESS!!!"
10. Profit!
As I stated I haven't added this to another carrier yet. Verizon is trying, H2O Wireless Indian customer service gave up when I told them I couldn't take the watch apart to access the SIM, and I haven't tried Straight Talk or Cricket yet, but I'll post back when I do.
In the meantime it is worth noting that I was able to add the watch to a separate AT&T prepaid 3GB plan for $43. More expensive than I want right now...but better than not having the 4G! Their customer service will tell you that it doesn't qualify for any prepaid plan, but their prepaid department can create one so don't let them yank you around.
Hope this helps some people! Freedom!

Man u a real hero. I wish i had this info back when i had the att version. I couldnt figure enough info and returned it. Back then att version was 349 and t mobile was 399. Now the t mobile and att versions are both the same price of 399$.

Actually AT&T here has it for $349 still. Wish I'd have found it sooner for you!

Does it work for T mobile as well ? the 765T version, I can get to the keypad screen but after entering #7465625*638*# nothing happens.
Also after unlocking how did you added another sim profile ?
Thanks

As I stated I have not yet added the phone to a new carrier yet. I also can't vouch for whether or not this will function on a 765T, as I don't have one to test on. I would venture to say if yours doesn't do anything...it probably doesn't work. Though you may be able to enter your unlock code after the second asterisk, followed by another one, then #...that may work but who knows.

Thank you Slpashot2286, just managed to unlock mine.
I'm interested in knowing how you had your watch registered for the prepaid plan?
What steps you took or how it was configured?
Thank you again!

I called ATT and told them I wanted to add a prepaid line. They transferred me to the prepaid section and I picked a plan. The post paid sales people will say there's not compatible plan...But there is. You just have to get transferred over.

Thanks again. I was curious as I live in Argentina and local carriers don't manage (in theory) eSim.
I have been researching and noticed that activation in some countries is through a QR Code and through the Gear App, but I checked my Gear App but the activation tab is not there. Also in the watch settings there is also an added tab within the Reset Gear that lets you reset the carrier which also is not showing.
Thanks for your contribution.

I've seen the same things online but it appears that the carrier has different firmware that doesn't have that...same with the Gear phone app.
Verizon has also stated that they won't add the device so I'm stuck with ATT prepaid.

What info did you give customer service about the watch that allowed them to activate it on GoPhone?

Hi Slapshot, could you walk us through the activation process? Did you just provide them the device imei? What info did they require from you regarding the device? Did you have to type any info in the watch? How did you get a number assigned and how did the watch register what the number was? I would very much appreciate knowing this. Thank you in advance.

All you need is your IMEI and your SIM (ICC ID) number. You give them those, select the prepaid plan you want, and they'll send you a series of text messages for activation. Once you've done the unlock process (which isn't even necessary if you're going AT&T prepaid), you call the prepaid department for AT&T. It's no more difficult than activating any other device.

Thanks mate!! I live overseas so this is very interesting information.
All the best!

Basically I now need to find a way to be able to change the ICC ID.....
Singtel in Singapore let's clients do it through software (QR Code) using the Gear App (which is obviously a different version to most) but also don't know if possible because watch could be using different firmware.?

Check Simlock status
Meanwhile I wonder if my device is really unlocked. I got my S3 LTE from South Korea with a SK telecom branding. The seller told me, that it is unlocked but at least I am not really sure. How can I verify this?

Sk Telecom
Any way to verify if a Sk telecom model is really unlocked?

Got mine unlocked by going to imei-unlocker.com It was $19.65 USD and they responded within 2x days or less. Went through the guide in this thread and it did say Success! No way to 100% verify at this time, but I'm hopeful if I do end up switching carriers that I will be in fact unlocked.

Just curious but if you can't change the sim yourself, what good does it do to unlock the watch?
Swordfish

I don't know, lol. But AT&T swore up and down they couldn't do it and don't listen to things you read on forums. So for lack of a better excuse, I did it because they said no. But more information may come out later about how to switch.

[Q] Help, I don't know what company my phone is Locked to

Hi, I found a Nokia C3 in my closet and I travel the world a lot, I do not know which company I picked it up from.
I popped in a sim card and it is locked.
NOKIA Model C3-00 Type RN-14
Does anyone know how to unlock it? I do not know the provider it is locked to.
I tried going on unlocking websites but they all ask for the provider.
Two options;
1) Find an unlocking shop and let them do it,
2) Borrow SIM cards off your mates until you find one that works.
I usually buy my codes off eBay as they are like $5...the unlocking stores here charge $25 - $50 which is bogus.
Is there a way to search the IMEI code somewhere to find out where its from?

Yes - if you happen to work for a mobile phone company.
Try my second suggestion. And ... remove your IMEI number from the OP.
The thing is, I travel the world a lot. I don't remember which Country I picked up the phone from. It is not a phone purchased in my Country

I guess that you have two choices then; either pay the money for a shop to do it or throw it back in a drawer for another couple of years
Okay thanks, I'll see if I can get it done at a store for cheap. Or find an online Service that uses USB to unlock. Thanks
Edit: I did number 2, The phone is locked to Rogers canada.
If its a phone that is now out of contract the carrier should give you the MSL for free, at least that's how carriers in the states work. I know years back when I was on AT&T I was still in my contract and I called and requested the MSL so that I could use overseas SIM cards (gave them a story of how I was about to be deployed and they said their SIM should work overseas, I told them that because of the cost of the calls I was going to be using a pre-paid SIM to make local calls while abroad and they gave me the MSL with no issue, but if it has been sitting in a drawer long enough that you don't know which carrier it was locked to then most likely it is out of contract...now if you terminated it early, they may not give you the MSL, but I would try to talk them out of it prior to paying for something they can give you for free.

T-Mobile Note 5 on AT&T

I'd like to get the T-Mobile variant so I can root and install a custom recovery (curse AT&T). I'm just curious if anybody has done this yet without any drawbacks before I pull the trigger (good LTE speeds?).

Yes, there are many Note5 owners using at&t who purchased from T-Mobile (model SM-N920T), got it unlocked and using on at&t without issue. getting it unlocked is the painful part; T-Mobile uses an app embedded in its ROM to SIM unlock their phones. 3rd-party unlocking sites won't work. T-Mobile unlock prerequisites (summarized from website and my conversations with customer reps): (a) paid full price for phone, (b) phone is used on T-Mobile w/post paid account for 30-40 days or (c) open a prepaid account, deposit $100, use phone on T-Mobile for at least 3-days (so it shows up in their system). some of us have been lucky enough to get the SM-N920T SIM unlocked without meeting criteria (b) or (c). a coworker purchased the T-Mo Note5 and used a post-paid account for 1 week, called in to cancel service and the rep got his device permanently unlocked. search this forum for more details. i requested and received a temporary unlock approval within 48 hours of getting the phone, but for some reason it wouldn't work. 4 days later i called in to complain, got connected to a tech rep who couldn't get it to work and finally got a manager to authorize a permanent unlock (vs. the approved temporary unlock granted). Good luck!

Oh wow, thank you for that informative response. I had no idea third party sites wouldn't work. I just came back from purchasing my T-Mobile Note 5. I purchased it from Craigslist and the seller showed me their Costco receipt. I have a friend who works for T-Mobile, but I doubt he'll be able to assist since he works in the actual store (sales rep). Do you think I have a chance at getting b and c bypassed? Not sure what kind of excuse to use.
Thanks again for your input.

Yes, i always get the T-Mobile version for use on at&t so i can root and enjoy!
did the seller pay full price for the phone? personally, i'd ask the seller for a receipt. best way to find out if it can be unlocked is to call t-mobile and tell them you'd like to unlock for overseas use. the fact that you don't have service may help get it unlocked. they should ask for the IMEI (to confirm it's T-Mobile and that the phone is not blacklisted) and then submit an unlock request. if you're lucky, maybe they can unlock over the phone. good luck!

Haha, I don't blame you.
Well, it looks like they used the Jump! service. They gave me the service agreement sheet (I took a picture of it) where it displays the IMEI, plan, store location, etc. Should I refrain from mentioning I'm an AT&T customer? I don't think I'll be able to say I need it for international use because I don't have a T-Mobile account for them to look up.

i'd open the "Device Unlock" app and if you're presented with 2 unlock buttons - one for Permanent and one for Temporary - then the phone is SIM Locked. if you open the app and a message says the device has been permanently unlocked, you're good to go. pop in the at&t SIM and you should get connected to at&t service.
if it's SIM Locked, when calling T-Mobile, i wouldn't say anything about at&t, maybe mention it was a gift. before calling T-Mobile, however, if the phone is a Jump! purchase then you/seller needs to confirm the phone has been paid for in full, e.g., there's no outstanding balance due. if there's an outstanding balance, you might not be able to get it unlocked. i'd ask the seller if the phone has been paid off.
I tried that, but it said "Unlock Failed" (for obvious reasons I guess).
I spoke to a T-Mobile rep and he said they would need the original owner's account information to verify everything, which I obviously don't have. I asked if a manager can override that and he said no. I searched Cell Unlocker and they gave me a quote surprisingly (http://www.cellunlocker.net/order-code-step-2.php). It's at $49.99, which isn't cheap, but I think it's my best option. If they're advertising it, then it should work, no?
Edit: added an attachment.

i tried them as well and got a refund. don't think it will work. did you see this message on the website: WARNING: Your device must prompt for a network unlock pin after restarting with a non-accepted sim card. If your device does not prompt then you do not require our services. If your device has a Device Unlocking App installed (T-Mobile/Metro PCS) please.
i think your only option is to contact the seller and let him know the circumstances (you want to unlock for T-Mobile) and ask him to help you out. Good luck, bro...

SIM Unlock T-Mobile LG G5

Hello All,
Any recommendations to a website that will Sim Unlock my T-Mobile device to use it on international GSM?
Thanks
Are you currently a T-Mobile customer or no? If so you should be able to get them to unlock it for you. If not I don't know the answer.
Ebay and other unlocking sites offer the T-Mobile app unlock up for sale, anywhere between 25-50 bucks or so.
There is an app on there to check if you are eligible for unlock.
Traditionally, you could call T-Mo's Customer Care and request an unlock. They have been generally pretty lenient on letting people unlock (especially for long time customers).
However, seeing as there is this unlock app built in to the phone that has a temporary unlock option, you may only get authorized to use that until your phone is paid off or something to that extent.
It is definitely worth a call.

Bought my wife's G5 from T-Mobile Online. Called to request to have it unlocked and they told me they have a 40 day waiting period then I can have it unlocked. They waived it immediately once I told them I was in the military and currently stationed overseas. Took about 6hrs to receive the unlock information.

Well, that sucks. I'll always buy from Swappa since I bought my LG v10 from there. Also remember, if you're buying a phone from someone, to ask for the IMEI to verify with the carrier that it isn't blacklisted. You probably actually paid the person enough so they can fix themselves.

Well, the issue was solved with 45$ I was in a hurry to buy it because the price was attractive and swappa had much higher prices. Well next time, for sure more investigation must be done before buying.
I dont mean to hijack this thread but it's exactly my problem. I have at&t in Iowa (pretty much no tmobile presence here) bought a brand new g5 off ebay wasnt paying attention to the fact that it was locked to tmobile. I did try a site that charges 30 something bucks to get it unlocked and they emailed be back the next day saying they couldnt do it. I checked the eimi or whatever on swappa, says its clean. I saw somewhere that the best way to get the unlock code is to order a prepaid sim and load some money on it and wait 2 weeks and then request the unlock code? I went to tmobile's website and got halfway through the prepaid sim screens but when i put the eimi number in it comes back with nothing, i am assuming thats because the phone has never been activated anywhere before? Appreciate the help, I dont want to pile more dumb on top of dumb...
I need help unlocking my LG g5. I bought it online through eBay from someone that works at LG.
The phone came sealed, I ordered a unlock code, but I discovered as soon as I turned it on that now I need to unlock through t-mobile device unlock app.
The site I ordered my code said they would change my status on the t-mobile database so I can unlock the device through the app.
I Googled around and that should have worked. But apparently my IMEI is not registered t-mobile.
I bought a prepaid Sim and put it on the phone. It's working at t-mobile but its still not at their database (the IMEI).
What should I do?
Is there any way to force the IMEI to t-mobile database so it can be unlocked through the third party?
Or is there any other way to unlock it.
Please help...

Did you try the permanent lock option on the t-mobile unlock app? What message did you get then?
So far I tried 2 different services and requested unlock code but none of them worked, they simply didn't get back to me with any results.
Can someone suggest one that actually worked for them please and PM me?

It says:
Unlock Failed: This mobile device is eligible for unlock. For device unlock eligibility details, please go online or contact Customer Support.
And even if I go online, to T-Mobile IMEI check website, it says my IMEI is not recognized at T-Mobile.
Thats the problem.
Although I'm using it at T-Mobile, and it is a T-Mobile branded phone.
And because it's not at the database, I can't do ANYTHING to try to unlock it through third parties.

Maybe it has been bought on contract and must have been activated first so that IMEI would be registered at T-Mobile.
Mine was blacklisted and i unlocked it. It shouldn't be a big deal for yours.
I would suggest drop T_mobile a visit or call, and check with them what is wrong.
Logically, if the IMEI is not on their database then it shouldn't be carrier locked.
I will drop you a PM for a contact that might help you in this issue.

Wrong my friend. If the phone is on TMO but IMEI is not in theit database that means phone wasn't activated on TMO network, which means you're not gonna be able to unlock it through official unlock app.
I wonder if this phone unlockeble at all without using that unlock app.

Help unlocking T-Mobile LG G5 bought through ebay.

Hi there,
I've been trying to unlock a T-Mobile LG G5 that I bought through ebay but nobody seems to be able to.
The unlock app returns that I'm not elegible for unlock.
I tried many third party unlock sites, but apparently my IMEI is not registered at T-Mobile.
I went to many T-Mobile stores, talked to managers, but I even though they all tried helping me unlock, since my device is paid (it shows up in their database as GOOD IMEI) and I'm not american, at the customer support (on the phone) they say they cant unlock my phone because my IMEI is not from their network. Although the phone IS from t-mobile, with t-mobile box, t-mobile rom, and t-mobile apps.
Does someone have any insight in what to do.
I tried even at ebay people that unblock blacklisted IMEIs, but mine just doesn't show up for anybody. I've been refunded for already 4 different unlocking services.
Is it possible my IMEI is really from another network and the device is locked there? Or is T-Mobile screwing something up?
PS: my phone does work with t-mobile, although the manager said I should watch out since my IMEI apparently is from another network, if it gets blacklisted there, I loose t-mobile access also.
Only T-Mobile can unlock. File paypal claim for fraud.

You need to have your phone running on t-mobile network for some time until it registers.
Maybe a pre-paid sim and make some calls every day for like 1 month.
After that t-mobile will be able to see it on their system.

Its been running at t-mobile for 1 week already and nothing yet.
Are you sure the IMEI will magically show up there?
Because the IMEI already shows up for the folks at t-mobile. It just doesn't show up at the imei check, nor for the unlock companies.
Is there a way to unlock through custom rom?
So I'm not saying this is the case but I did see reports last year from users who purchased units that were intended for employees. T-Mobile employees have access to a discounted G5 that is not intended for resale. Users that bought those G4s had issues with unlocking the device for some reason or another. The device itself is T-Mobile branded and the IMEI is clean but for some reason they are not recognized by the system to some extent. I'm just guessing that might be the case with your unit. Since you said that the IMEI is clean and that it is indeed a T-Mobile unit. I don't know of a solution since I did not see updates from those users that had purchased it secondhand.

But could I be able to flash a custom rom, and unlock it?
i'm in the same boat. waiting on my prepaid sim card from tmobile read somewhere if you wait like 2 weeks you can get it unlocked....if not...lesson learned...
After 40 days if there is no EIP balance the Unlock App will work.
This includes with the employee discounted phones. I had the same thing last year with the g4.

Ok so I had this exact same problem with my LG V10 which I bought off swappa. I live in Canada so what I had to do was buy a prepaid north American roaming plan and use the phone on their network for at least 40 days. After which time i requested an unlock and they granted it. However it wouldn't actually work. this continued for a couple months and I was giving up hope. I had at least 10 unlock request "approved" yet it wouldn't work. Tmo even told me it wasn't a tmo phone. which of course it was. Anyway I spoke with several tech people and supervisors and nothing worked. So then I filed a complaint with the fcc and a few days later I got a call from a lady who was able to resolve it. Here's her info so you can reach out to her after you've reached the 40 day eligibility provided it doesn't work. She can make it happen.

She's a nice lady. Just don't waste her time asking for an unlock prior to meeting their requirements or she'll add you to the ignore list
Thank you!
I am going through the same hell you went through.
I've been approved unlock from 5 different supervisors. And none of them understand why my phone isn't getting unlocked.
It seams like the system know the IMEI is not bought at a T-Mobile store (although it IS t-mobile phone) and is not registerind on the unlock database.
All supervisors act as surprised that I'm not being able to unlock the device since it shows to them as unlocked.
How do I open a claim at FCC? I'm from brazil. Am I allowed to enter a claim?!
And do I really need to wait for 40 days to contact this Jennifer? What are the requirements?

Requirements are that device must be paid in full, you must use it in their network for 40 days. If you've done both of those them just contact Jennifer directly. Email and then call her. If you don't get a reply Google the fcc in USA and file a claim about tmo refusing to unlock your phone. That's how I worded mine. I just said I meet all the requirements and they refuse to do it...might be a stretch of the truth but it worked.
I've got bigger problems.
T-Mobile doesn't have a roaming plan in my country (brazil).
So I wont be able to stay in their network for 40 days.
You think I should call her and explain my situation or email her?

I didn't have this complications unlocking my T-Mobile Lg G5 at all. I purchased it off ebay and i live already overseas, then upon checking eligibility for unlocking over T-Mobile IMEI verification, it came out that the phone has a bad ESN / IMEI due to outstanding balance. Third party websites like unlockbase or unlockunit don't unlock bas IMEI phones already, so i used one service on ebay that was same price as unlockbase and unlockunit ( about 40$) and they unlocked my phone within 36 hours. I then run the Unlock app, permanent unlock and voila, unlocking done and device rebooted. This was on April 14th.
I don't know if lately T-Mobile added some security on their servers so that IMEI won't be accessable by third parties. And i helped lot of guys on my thread unlock their devices as well through the procedure i already went through.

Not at all. I unlocked my black ESN/IMEI Lg G5 and it is working super fine. and that was 14th April, and unlocking took less than 36 hours. Maybe T-Mobile added lately some security stuff to prevent these unlocking procedures.

I am afraid this will be faaaaar hard to get. T-Mobile Lg G5 has a pretty locked Bootloader with is super hard to unlock. Rooting and TWRP as well are still pending for this device. So flashing a custom ROM ( when available) might solve it but you have to wait for some time for that.

You might have bought a non-activated t-mobile phone. So that's why the IMEI is totally not on their database, and in case they will find it it will show unlocked because device is not activated. The device should have been activated on the same account or the origial purchaser. After the minimum period of use on their network it will show up on the IMEI verification. What they are seeing now is the device original IMEI in their system ( each device IMEI should be entered in their system before offering for sale), but this IMEI will show up in the verification area only when it gets activated and the carrier network recognizes it that it is SIM unlocked. I suppose so...

Prepaid should be fine.

SIM Unlock possible? Please Help

I bought 2 of these from Cricket prepaid (OT 6045O)as a gift to my family in Cuba, I do not care about LTE as there is no data coverage over there. My family will use them with voice and texts only(GSM 2G 900/1800), maybe the occasional Wi-Fi.
I have tried several different unlock sites to no success, they always refund me back because the code is not available on their end. Please if someone know a way to unlock the phone(again dont care about LTE bands) please let me know. Both phones are currently running stock 6.0.1 on Cricket
I have 6039Y from UK 02 network and 2 or 3 unlock codes did not work. Hardware unlock via Furious box was succesful. It was in January 2017.
So try it out there: http://www.furiousgold.com/en/homepage

So far I have tried with:
- Doctor Sim https://www.doctorsim.com/us-en/
- World GSM Unlock https://www.worldgsmcodes.com/UnlockingInstructions/
- On Time Mobile https://ontimemobile.com/
-Sim-Unlock https://sim-unlock.net/
- Unlock Ninja https://www.unlockninja.com/
Any other suggestions will be GREATLY appreciated. I will be reviewing the Furious option now and post an update.
Thank you for the responses!
I think the only way I've heard of unlocking this phone is through cricket
I think that's actually against American law but I don't see anything happening about it soon :\

Technically, Providers generally will honor SIM unlocks if you;
1) Serve out the length of the contract (usually 2 years)
2) Buy out the remaining time on the original contract
3) Bought the phone in the States, but actually live in a country that does not have that specific provider. I know some success stories in the tablet forums a couple years ago with ATT and another provider.
Other than that, they pretty much ignore you. If you've reached the end of the contract, you will have to be very persistent with them. Eventually they will provide the necessary unlock code. I believe there has been some recent legislation in the past couple years making it mandatory they provide the code after the contract has been honored. At least to the best of my knowledge.
EDIT: One more thing, it's not the SIM that is locked, I believe it's the IMEI number. We just call it "SIM Locked" for lack of proper terms.

I did not get these phones through contract, I just got them off Walmart for $65.00+change. I am not a Cricket customer and these 2 phones are not meant to be used in the United States. My guess is that it will be better to insist with Cricket and see if at some point they provide the unlocking codes.
Thanks!

I have searches extensively to see if I could unlock them through software mods but so far no go. I will keep you updated if anything changes.
You might try some outside company. but carrier is prob only way to do these.
