SIM card not found

I dropped my phone recently, and almost everything fell apart. When I picked it up and put everything back in its place, it wouldn't turn on or boot past the IPL/SPL... screen. When I finally got it to boot, the SIM card was recognized, not now it's kinda spotty on when it wants to recognize it, even when it's in like now, yet it tells me its missing. Can anyone help me with this?
Probably the best thing to try would be to go to a local t-mobile dealer and tell them that you need a new sim card and see if that fixes it. They used to just give them to you free, but the other day I went in for an upgrade and when I asked them if I could keep the sim that came with the phone since I still wanted to use the old one for now they told me that it would cost me $20 so I'm not sure if you'll be charged for it or not. T-Mobile did get a nice nasty e-mail from me about that one.
Hmm I'll try that, talked with mfrazzz earlier and he thinks it could have been that I knocked something loose.

That's quite definitely a possibility, but I figured trying a new sim card first (if you can talk them out of a new one for free) would be the easiest thing to try first.

[att tilt] i tried every rom with every radio but........

i still get no service
if i do get service then i have it for about 2-3 minutes then its gone =[
please help me out

Definitely sounds like a hardware issue. Maybe you should flash back to your stock rom/spl/radio and see about getting a warranty replacement.

Hi,.
Have you try to contact your Operator service??
it must be related there,.
Call / contact your provider service, or try to buy a new operator (SIM Card),.
if the service say that its okay, and you still cant figured it out although using new SIM Card,. Then it related to your device,.
and if it is fixed by using new sim card, then its not your phone related,.
I hope your device going well,.
Gud luck,.
Regards

Pop out the sim card and reincert it back in your phone, if you have a friend with same service swap sim cards for a moment and see if yours works in his phone and his in yours. And last but not least I got'a ask Did you Hard SPL before you flashed?

+1 i agree with the hardware issue. if you have troubleshot and nothing seems to work, maybe bad contact leads on sim slot or something
Did you Try your sim!
Card in another phone from the same carier? How did you get a new sim card so fast AT&T sends one in the mail and that takes about 3 days to get it. So since your first post was yesterday you must have a great service provider. Anyway need to know weather or not your sim card is working or not that can be checked easy just install it in someones phone that belongs to the same carier as you. If you can confirm that the card is good then you have a bad phone and you need to put it back into original condition SPL and Rom & Radio. then call them up and get a warranty exchange. I am with AT&T mine went bad and I called them they sent me a new exchange which is a refurb I got it in 3 days if they offer express shipping for $8.00 extra decline it I have never waited longer then 3 days for a swap or new order. Then just put yours in the box peel and stick the return label and send the bad one back. They take a credit card and put it on hold until they get their bad unit back. But there is no charge once everything is received. That is how AT&T does it most do something like this. Flashing your Rom is safe if done correctly, if you do not follow instructions then **** happends! it sounds like your phone just took a crap on you in the middle of a flash which if you did it correctly had nothing to do with the flash you just had bad hardware.
Did you Try your sim!
Try the orignial sim before the new one, also if you went into a store then your taking a chance a service tech might note in your account that your rom has changed. So before you take it back to the store make sure you flash it back to normal. Hope this helps! Ed...

Hot sim card, and now no sim.

I have had my Infuse for about 2 weeks now. From the day I got it, I noticed it would completely lock up and start vibrating. Last week i noticed the sim card was getting hot. This morning I was using it with no problems. I set it on the table, and when I picked it up to use it, the phone was showing a "No Sim" message. I have removed the sim and rebooted several times, but it still says "No Sim." Is my phone pretty much shot?

Wow, never heard of that before. Even if there is a fix for your issues id bring it back, since its only 2 weeks old the store should exchange right in the store. If you wait past 30 days than you may have to send it out for warrenty replacement.

Thanks Nash. The only problem is this phone was a replacement phone that my cousin got when he had problems with his first Infuse. They day this one arrived I traded my iPhone 4 for this Infuse. I'm not sure if AT&T will even do anything at this point. Looks like I might have to send it back to Samsung.
I forgot to mention that I am using the SIM card from my iPhone 4. It is smaller then the actual SIM card slot on the phone. I just took the card out and re-centered it, and now it works. I'm thinking I need to go in and upgrade my SIM card. I'll still take it in for the other problems, but for now at least I can make calls.
The first thing i would suggest would be the sim card. I have also had good luck with att's warranty center on the phone. I bought a samsung captivate from craigs list. The service rep said my account said I got the phone in like November (mind you I don't call att and change my imei unless with an upgrade). Told them I had the random shutdown problem and they replaced it no questions asked.

Yes you should replace your ip4 sim for one that fits, only thing is- I'm sure att will change your number from iphone to Infuse, with that pending, I'm not sure if samsung will warrenty that phone since you weren't origianlly contracted to that phone, I could be wrong. I do know that att can downgrade your data package by switching phones. I bought my gf an inspire from craigslist, I was told that att was releaseing an update for inspires to have "unknown sourses" but you had to call and request it. I called and when they asked for my account info and phone number they noticed that phone number went to a samsung captivate. I said that phone broke so I picked up a replacement. They said they would have to change account from captivate to Inspire, I said go a head. Than they told me said I'm having work done to a non contracted phone, I will loose my unlimited data. I said touch my data and I'm gone to verizon...cancel my request. I later called back and explained, they left me alone and updated my phone. Kinda messed up what att can or try to do to your account.

Thanks for the info guys. I just landed in San Diego and walked over to the At&t store near the hotel. They replaced the similar card with no questions asked for free. Nothing changed on my account. The sales Rep said his Infuse has the same freeze with the vibrating problem as well.
You need to go make a full size similar card, or get one from at&t

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM!!!!!!! its around the sim card right hand side gets really hot too

For those traveling international with the S3

Alright not too long ago, I called verizon to notify them about my travels to Japan, 2 weeks prior my trip (i got back less than 24 hours ago). They did some over the phone stuff, added that 100mb plan. And told me to dial *228, I've been warned about dialing *228 on 4G phones before... But this is a Verizon REP telling me this. So i did it, and i was supposed to dial it again when i reached Japan, to update my roaming with their cell towers.
I did so as well... thought little did i know the message i got when i was in japan said my phone did not work over there (didn't know it at the time had my friend translate the message for me days after i already dialed)
Long story short, I've noticed after my initial dial of *228, I somewhat noticed my phone never connected to 4G again. It bugged me, but i was still able to FORCE LTE Only in Phone Info. But when i had that setting in, i couldnt recieve or send calls, or texts... just blazing fast internet.
In my area since I live relatively close to Los Angeles 4G is pretty much everywhere here. What i dont understand why my phone hasn't connected to 4G ever since i called.

I'd pull the sim, reinsert and reboot. You may need to reactivate. Sounds like the rep you talked to was a complete waste of space.

I've tried a SIM pull, no luck. I read somewhere dialing *228 could fry to SIM card? Maybe thats what happened, and i'd need to get a replacement...
What do you mean by re-activate?
I've done factory resets quite a few times already today, as well as the IMEI push/fix just in case... still to no luck

There's another command using the keypad you can use to factory reset your phone...i just can't remember it. Something like *#4342..etc. I remember seeing it posted on here somewhere but I would search for "factory reset" and see what you can come up with.
This is what people did when they flashed an AOSP rom and were unable to get 4G...it could likely work for you also. It's worth a shot!
Here is the thread and the command: Back up all your info because your phone will be wiped and make sure you are on a stock based TouchWiz rom...go into dialer and hit *2767*3855#. Allow it to reboot and hopefully you will have full use of your phone. If not, go and get yourself a new sim card at the local VZW.

Tried that twice during the IMEI push. Still to no avail. I'm going to assume the SIM card got bugged during the *228 process... And would probably need a new simcard. My dad also has the S3, and his connects to 4g just fine in my area... THe things i go through with this phone man... I prefer my bionic if the galaxy's camera wasnt so good.
Sorry about the phone woes but once you're up and running again you will see how this device runs circles around your Bionic.
Getting a new SIM card is easy. Verizon gives them away for free and you can just walk in there. Hopefully you get this taken care of.

[Q] Vzw Sch-i535 won't activate on vzw network...

Hey Guys!!!
I wish there was a quicker way to get all this out so let's get started:
A few weeks ago, I bought a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 from a coworker. When she gave me the phone, she left the sim card in the phone. So I made a test call. Forgetting that sim cards store info about the plan and such other important info, I trashed her sim card and went to a corporate Verizon store for my own sim card. I couldn't use my sim card because my other phone is an iPhone 5 that has a nano sim card and I didn't have a sim card adapter. As soon as the Verizon representative put the sim card in and started up the phone the activation screen popped up and started to activate, finally realizing the activation was taking extremely longer than normal the vzw rep told me to let it continue to activate while you go home, if it doesn't work try again. So I did what I was told, needless to say the phone would never activate. So I called customer service to get my iPhone 5 activated since the Galaxy s3 wasn't working. I was then told that it couldn't happen because my service was stuck in a switch that wouldn't end until midnight and then I could call the next day to reactivate. The next day after customer service sent me another sim card the same thing happened. After going through 4 sim cards the same thing happened. I then called Samsung Support and sent my phone to them, they claimed it was fix but the only thing that was done was they upgraded my firmware to 4.1.2 and fixed my charging port which wasn't messed up since the phone charged before I sent it off. At my wits end I got desperate, I cut up on of the "damaged" sim cards and put it in my iphone 5, immediately it activated itself without me even having to log on the vzw website. I then took the sim card out and put it back into the galaxy s3 with the sim adapter I purchased and the activation box never came up. Instead I called customer service and they tell me that the iphone 5 is still active on my account even though the iphone 5 has no sim card in it and is turned off. The online vzw tech informed me that the system wouldn't let them switch the imei numbers on the phone. Long story short I have what I think is an unrooted phone that won't activate.
P.S. The phone isn't lost or stolen. I asked them and he said no them system would've flagged the phone.
My questions are what do you guys think is wrong with the phone? Is this normal? Can it be fixed? If so, how? What would you do? What should I do?

Feel free to delete this post. It doesn't seem as if anyone cares to answer my question. Thanks anyway.
No one is answering the question because we have no answers for it. Also don't expect us to answer as soon as you post as like you we all have a life and that is more important so we will respond as soon as we possibly can.
Sounds like a issue with your line. Someone who knows what they're doing at vzw probably needs to submit a trouble ticket for you.
