I just bought my z3 Unlocked 2 weeks ago and have been loving it up till today.
Was using it as a music player at work (Service bartending at Pool in Las Vegas)
Placed it on bar counter next to speaker and turned to hear a clunking sound as it fell to the tile floor about 4 feet (~120cm)
I have been so busy since I got it I have not got a case, was literally just using the phone to search for a case online before I put it down.
Phone somehow vibrated itself off the ledge (incoming text message?) and fell to the floor.
Was PISSED to find the "Shatter proof screen" had cracked.
Was more pissed to find the entire display would NOT RESPOND to any touch whatsoever.
I've been told that it could just be the LED sensor and it might be an easy and cheap ($35) fix. I have yet to find out as it's the weekend and everything was closed before getting off work.
Needless to say I'm very disappointed.
Will have to temporarily go back to my Samsung Galaxy Nexus ( I know, ancient) with horrible battery life and sluggish performance.
Hopefully this will be a cheap fix, but no matter how you slice it this is a VERY bad drop test performance.
Thoughts? (besides it being my fault for not having a case and putting it down on a ledge with a 4 foot drop nearby in the first place? I know I'm hitting myself already. No need to rub it in)
(Other Info: Phone has lasted up to 24 hours on a single charge without stamina mode and using the lifelog app and having a screen on time of over 5 hours at about half brightness with auto adjust. Was very happy with camera performance, battery performance etc... has lasted almost 2 days from a full charge with only a 20 minute charge from 10% to 30% inbetween)
As far as I know from what you said, the digitizer is gone.
Replacing only the digitizer/glass is generally hard and a full lcd panel/digitizer replacement costs upwards of $150 and around $200 if done in a third party cell shop. Better call Sony and ask how much it will cost, should be lower than a cell shop unless shipping etc compensates.
I made my dad get the HTC One M8 just in case that happens as he is more accident prone and they offer one time free lcd replacement in first 6 months.
Please post questions in the Q&A section

Hi.
I have a yellow spot on the display. It seems to be the same like many people had it on the HTC One X. I had it too, on the One X.
I read, it was something with some glue in the display.
Cheers
factory warranty covers it so bring it back and if its whitin 28 days of purchase, demand a new sealed box as consumer right entitles you on.
That looks like a manufacturer defect right there. Get it exchanged ASAP.
Display Issues
Forgive me, but what's wrong with These Displays These days? Or am I doing something wrong?
I've been having Trouble with spots on Displays for years.
When it came out I bought a HTC One X. After a month there appeared a yellow spot on the left edge. I brought it back, waitet for 1,5 months and then became back my device with a replaced Screen and battery.
After another month i got again a yellow line... It was always the same, at first there is a slightly yellow line on the left or right edge, after a while it gets darker and darker and turns violet/Brown.
I returned my htc one x 3 times, after the 4th attempt to repair i became the Money back.
After that i bought a HTC One X Plus. Same Story! I returned it 3 times for the same Screen issues, in the end after another year struggling I became again the Money back.
Then i bought a Xperia Z2: Believe it or not, again same pain 3 attempts to repair and then Money back.
The good Thing is, I always got the Money back. But i buy a device for using and working with it, not for having this Trouble.
In december 2014 i bought a Xperia Z3. Yesterday I noticed a yellow line on the left edge ...
In the meanwhile i bought a Surface Pro 2 also... and had the same Trouble, I had to send it in because of yellow lines ("just" one time, for now...)
What is going wrong here?
Its probably the glue, I guess you are just very unlucky. I went through two One Xs and luckily no yellow spots, in fact I have never gotten any device with that. Just get a warranty replacement, nothing else you can do. Its pretty bad on your phone, I believe its UV cured glue.

Bad luck, dude
It seems that yellow spots do happen in some of the phones manufactured in a certain period of time and cause mainly by the OCA(Optical Clear Adhesive) glue between the glass and digitizer
Thanks for your replies, i'm gonna return the phonre for repair again.
Could this Problem be connected with heat issues? All the Devices ( well, except maybe the xperia z3) could get very hot.
Yeah that can also cause that, do you live in a very hot area? I went to med school in a place where it commonly reached 45C/113F+ in the summer and I still never got this issue with my LG Optimus 2X, HTC One X and HTC Butterfly
Well no, it's not that warm here, it barely gets to 30C in Summer, and I got the issues also in winter... But my htc's and the z2 were itself good heaters
Did you solve this issue ? Did you need to replace screen ?

Yeah, unfortunately I had to replace the screen.
Actually they replaced the screen 3 times and after that (and after quite a bit of fight ) I returned the phone to the seller.
I seem to have some kind of bad luck in that regard, here is my statistic for the past few years:
Yellow spots on HTC One X -> screen replaced 3 times
Yellow spots on HTC One X + -> screen replaced 3 times
Yellow spots on Sony Xperia Z2 -> screen replaced 3 times
Yellow spots on Sony Xperia Z3 -> screen replaced 3 times
Yellow spots on Microsoft Surface Pro 2 -> screen replaced 1 time, it's yellow again and has to be replaced but I need it for work
And now:
Yellow spots on Microsoft Lumia 1520, have to send it in
I thought that I do something wrong (although I never had these Issues before HTC One X), then a few weeks ago I went to an electronics reseller to take a look at an exposed Surface Pro 3 and saw that picture... Look at that the yellow line on the left edge :silly:
You're very very unlucky mate....
3 different retailers and 5 different devices, with similar/same problems? There's something wrong happening there..

For the 2nd time now on my xperia z3 I have an orange / yellow tint on the left side of the screen. It's almost parallel with magnetic charging port which was the same place as last time. Getting it repaired last was a nightmare. Although Sony were quick to accept for repair they send to 3rd who took over to fix and sent back phone in worse condition with speakers and phone back together all loose and creaky. They took back and another week later I got back again good as new.
It's a shame I really like this phone.
Anyone know what could cause this? Self diagnostics on phone says it's all good
Can't really be without a phone for another week

i have exactly the same but not from the very beginning, now after some months.
did you found any solution?
thanks
Sony replaced the phone after 2nd time and it's just done it again. I'm escalating with Sony as this is 3 times in 12 months with 2 different phones.
I use a case mate clear and notice this is the only part the case doesn't cover.
If you press on the frame where the orange is it transfers to screen which leads me to believe the frame is weak there. Once I get it fixed I'm changing cases to a ringke. The official Sony case completely covers that side so think it must be linked.
What cases are you using?

I never use cases, I don't like cases
About six months ago I got a Motorola X Play and have loved it ever since. Although a couple days ago there was an incident in which my phone dropped out of my pocket and as a result my screen is smashed and my LCD has a crack going across the middle of my phone. On the left side of the LCD my touch screen no longer works, making it impossible to log into my phone as the password needs the left side. I just need to know approximately how much it will be to fix, if it is fixable, and if it is even worth fixing or I should just get a new phone. Thanks!

Hello,
This forum is for newbies finding their way around XDA Developers, it isn't a discussion section.
Also you may visit nearest service station and get info on cost of the screen.

Hoping to get my Nokia 8 today. Who else pre ordered and is excited?
I'm torn. I've had it in the shopping cart three times, but haven't pulled the trigger. It lacks some bands I need for Tmo here in the US.
I'm sure you are gonna love it! I may put in an order later this week.
Only reason I haven't bought yet is because of the looked bootloader :/
Got mine yesterday, and it's a world class handset... going to sell well I think...
Love it to bits...
Been using mine for a day now. The software isn't the fastest (I'm coming from a Pixel) but the build is nice, and the screen is one of the best lcd ips screens I've used.
I want to root it though just to increase the headphone volume as its so low
1 week with the 8 now and I'm thinking about returning it.

How come?
OS is laggy and slow, random freezes in multitasking even after updates and reboots. The phone is a lot slower than my OP3 which is cluttered with apps from over a year of usage.
Power button is horrible, you cant press it straight on from the side, you have to kinda press it upwards towards the screen.
Camera was advertised as being somehow superior to all, it is not.
Loudspeaker is really clear but not very loud.
Oh and the Sim-Card tray leaves a nasty sharp crack, this should be flush on a phone that costs 600€ no exceptions. This is not acceptable.
OS needs option to switch back and recent buttons.
OS lacks proper screenshot app.
Bothie camera crashes more often than it doesn't. Also there is not clear indication if the bothie picture will be a 50-50 / 20-80 or in what corner of the picture frame the selfie-cam picture will be.
