Hi all,
I swear there was a private mode on my Mate 9 at some point. I can't find it. Anyone else notice this or am I losing it?
Thanks, Dhatw.

Thanks. Actually, I found what I thought I remembered as Private mode. It is actually "Safe" which is found in "Files*. You can only pull files and pics into it though. You can't push a pic to it that I can see anyways.

[Q] Is there a way to "force" desktop view in browser (rather than mobile view)?
Some websites show up as the mobile site, with no option to go to the full version.
http://www.newyorker.com is one. This is one of the main reason I bought the dang thing.
Any solutions that anybody knows of?
Thanks for any advice.
Later!
search and you will find wonderful things.
Maybe in the development forum there is something about this?
And if he searched and did not find anything, should he not post here?
type in your browser:
about:debug
hit enter
go into browser settings, debug, UAstring
then you can select android or desktop or iphone or ipad....the last two seem blasphemous tho..
and btw its not permanent.. if you restart or somehow close your browser you'll have to do it again.. I'm still looking for a permanent fix...

Well, it'd be hard not to, since there are 5 threads in the xom boards about it.
I gave him the answer either way.

On the Xoom on the ICS rom (full wingray I think it's named), it appears that there is no edit for polaris office. Opening a document through Polaris Office seems to open in read-only mode. I've looked around and seems as though no one else has said anything about it so maybe i'm missing it somewhere, or maybe its just broken for ICS.
On a side-note, I looked through the help files for polaris and it claims there is a button needed to open edit mode on a file and that button is not on the screen under ICS.
any thoughts? Am I doing something wrong or just blind?
thanks
I am also looking for this. Anyone know?
really derp 500 views and no answers?
The free version is read only. If you want to edit u have to buy it.

I've been made aware of that I somehow have it set in my options to only receive private messages from people on my buddy list...
I searched high and low and see nothing on how to disable that and set it where anyone can send me a private message.

OK, this may be a question with a simple answer, but I can't seem to find it. I tried to google it, but I can't find the right combo of keywords. I even tried looking through the manual. Here is my problem:
When I want to send a picture message, I hit the attach button and select a picture or take one with my camera. From there, my only option is to send it, there is no way to attach text with it. I have to send a separate message for the text. Even if I type the text fist and then attach a picture, it just sends the picture and erases the text. Am I missing a setting somewhere, or did Samsung change it to this? I am using the stock messaging app.

I've noticed this as well. I think it's a change made to their messaging app and it annoys the dickens out of me.

Ok. At least I know it's not just me missing something obvious. Thanks.
Yeaaaaa...Samsung must have made a change. My MMS's aren't as grand these days having to send the story and the picture in separate texts.
:crying:
A work around is to start up a message with no recipients, add your picture and texts, then add your recipients
Solution maybe

I had the same issue, what i did was turned off volte and then later on it started adding the photo with the option to add text..also turning volte off enables you to drop individual calls when conferencing. ..hope this helps
I played with the model at Best buy and I was able to select a pic from the gallery and add text to it. Not sure why you can't
I will not accept any answer except i also have this problem from anyone, lol. There is no way anyone can have this working unless one of these work arounds works which i pray does cause this is driving me nuts. I cant believe after all my searching that this is the only useful post i've found and every single person with this phone is not annoyed as crap by this. Im not happy about our situations but i am happy i finally see this is not just me. God i hope one of these work arounds mentioned works & even with that samsung needs to realize how stupid this is & fix it. My wifes galaxy s6 edge has the same exact stock messanger & right when she clicks to add the attachment it adds it then takes her right back to the text, i dont see how ours dont do the same cause it's seriously the exact same stock messanger.
See photo below... I'm able to open the stock messaging app, input contact info, attach picture and type text.
I haven't done any special fix to make this work. I dont recall it ever not working.

Is your VoLTE on or off? The only way for me to get it to work is to have it off even after a factory reset.

volte is off. if you call tmobile and speak to tech support they will advise you to shut it off since it is still in testing stages and not ready for the masses.
Hi,
This is my first time posting here.
Phone: Samsung Note 20 ultra, bought prerelease on Samsung site.
Issue: As headline states, one of the updates made a few months after release scrapped the private mode in favor of the secure folder from Knox. The problem is that the content in private mode is now nowhere to be found (?) there was no prompt saying please remove items from private folder for this update etc.
Does anybody know how to get the files back from private mode? Or can somebody point me in the right direction (forum post)?
I will from now on keep important stuff off the phone as updates seem to disregard important aspects.
I did contact Samsung support, they had never heard of Private mode, so I hung up.
Regards
Simon

First of all it's called Secure Folder and not private mode. So that's probably why samsung had no idea what's private mode.
Secondly secure folder isn't gone, the shortcut maybe disappeared but you can bring it back my searching for it in settings.
Or by going to settings --> biometric and safety and there you should have option named Secure Folder and when you tap on it. Then secure folder should open up and once you are in go to settings there for secure folder and pick create shortcut.

By any chance did you uncheck it in the drop down quick settings screen?

Hi,
Thanks for your reply, if you google a bit you can find several others with the same issue. https://www.techjunkie.com/use-private-mode-galaxy-s9-galaxy-s9-plus/
I have secure folder and have never used it, however when the switch was made from "Private mode" to "Secure folder" the contents did not transfer along with it.
Let me know if you have any other insights to this matter.
cheers

Private mode has never existed what I know off. Secure folder was already on s9 and note 9.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
I have checked and there is no longer a "private mode" to be found anywhere on the phone. If I can not find any solution I guess I will have to flash the back to its original firmware and hopefully get it back there.
Do you maybe know how to revert the phone back to its original firmware? I am unsure if a standard reset will do the job.

Yes, due to a software update that was made. I have had private mode on my S7 Edge and my Note 20 ultra when it first came out.
You can read more in Samsungs own community here: https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5...ivate-mode-samsung-s8-and-s8/m-p/187208#M2443

Check both screens of your pull down quick settings.. there's a toggle for "secure folder" there. But like the other user posted... private mode was long replaced by secure folder.

I know it was discontinued a while back, but it was available on the Note 20 Ultra when I first got it.
I´ll see if I can find another solution somehow.

Note 20 ultra has never had private mode. When I got mine like 3-5 days after release it had secure folder already. So I don't see where you got private mode? Makes no sense?
