Hi,
This is my first time posting here.
Phone: Samsung Note 20 ultra, bought prerelease on Samsung site.
Issue: As headline states, one of the updates made a few months after release scrapped the private mode in favor of the secure folder from Knox. The problem is that the content in private mode is now nowhere to be found (?) there was no prompt saying please remove items from private folder for this update etc.
Does anybody know how to get the files back from private mode? Or can somebody point me in the right direction (forum post)?
I will from now on keep important stuff off the phone as updates seem to disregard important aspects.
I did contact Samsung support, they had never heard of Private mode, so I hung up.
Regards
Simon

First of all it's called Secure Folder and not private mode. So that's probably why samsung had no idea what's private mode.
Secondly secure folder isn't gone, the shortcut maybe disappeared but you can bring it back my searching for it in settings.
Or by going to settings --> biometric and safety and there you should have option named Secure Folder and when you tap on it. Then secure folder should open up and once you are in go to settings there for secure folder and pick create shortcut.

By any chance did you uncheck it in the drop down quick settings screen?

Hi,
Thanks for your reply, if you google a bit you can find several others with the same issue. https://www.techjunkie.com/use-private-mode-galaxy-s9-galaxy-s9-plus/
I have secure folder and have never used it, however when the switch was made from "Private mode" to "Secure folder" the contents did not transfer along with it.
Let me know if you have any other insights to this matter.
cheers

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
I have checked and there is no longer a "private mode" to be found anywhere on the phone. If I can not find any solution I guess I will have to flash the back to its original firmware and hopefully get it back there.
Do you maybe know how to revert the phone back to its original firmware? I am unsure if a standard reset will do the job.

Yes, due to a software update that was made. I have had private mode on my S7 Edge and my Note 20 ultra when it first came out.
You can read more in Samsungs own community here: https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5...ivate-mode-samsung-s8-and-s8/m-p/187208#M2443

Check both screens of your pull down quick settings.. there's a toggle for "secure folder" there. But like the other user posted... private mode was long replaced by secure folder.

I know it was discontinued a while back, but it was available on the Note 20 Ultra when I first got it.
I´ll see if I can find another solution somehow.

I tried backing up the swtor authenticator via titanium backup before flashing upgrade for rom..
After upgrade and restore of this app it seems the app crashes inside, deleting data is a no go, need this app restored to its fullest..
Any way it might be the secured partition for critical apps like this to be restored?
If so, how would i restore an older backup of that partition to a newer version.
I might add that im running virtuous 1.3.0 and want to upgrade to the 1.4.0.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Out of interest, why not just redownload/install the app after you have upgraded?

Thanks for replying!
Well the thing is that the application is bound to my account on swtor.com and the data stored is neccesary for the application to authenticate correctly, as it contains randomly generated login codes for my account.
Reinstalling the application means i have to bind it to the account once again, and thats not possible if you already have, now the tricky part, if you want to deattach an authenticator you need to contact their customer support (EA), and that can take up to 7 days to get any kind of help.
Now i want to take the easy way of just backing up everything neccesary for the application so that i may upgrade roms without being afraid of loosing the account access..
I don't think you will have any choice but to call EA and get them some help, I have tried this with the Google and Blizzard 2 factor auth apps and I have had to redo it every time, normally though you have special codes you can use in cases like this, google will also send you a text as an alternate way of authenticating.

Clearly you haven't worked with Blizzard's version of this concept. They set their app up to allow a special set of codes to be generated just for this purpose, so you could wipe a device, start over, install their app, plug in those codes, and you're golden.
I already went through this nonsense with this app and had to call support to have it removed from my account, at which point they inform you that you will no longer be able to use a security key with your account. This, my friends, is what you call a MAJOR FAIL.
If I had more time to play with it, I would have started searching around on the phone for additional files that might have accompanied the app. I definitely tried the Titanium thing, but to no avail. They have got to be using some sort of key file, like RSA or something, but without knowing the details we won't be able to backup and restore this thing.
My recommendation is this. If you have the time, patience, and ability to search and have an idea of what you are looking for, see if you can solve this problem yourself and share your findings with the community. Otherwise, call support, abandon the app, and give the mental middle-finger to EA for their fail.

Interestingly enough the same company mad both blizzards and swtors security apps. Personally I wish I knew what I am looking for but I have been unable to find any additional file that will make it work.
Some other things to note is I saved the Serial number and Auth. Code that bioware gave me and after I learned that titanium backup would not work I pulled out my galaxy tab 10.1 and installed the app and reused the info to no avail.
Any help with this would be much appreciated! Thanks!
I read multiple threads at swtor.com and at the moment the only possibility is removing the sercurity key via the phone-customer-support.
So, no news on this front.

For WoW when I had an issue, Flashed a ROM without realising the world of pain I'd entered. I had to go through Customer Support, they even wanted a photo document (driving License or Passport). Eventually it got removed.
After that I ran the authenticator on my older Android phone.
Your best bet is to nandroid restore to the original, de-link the authenticator, then install the new ROM and authenticator. Then re-link the new authenticator codes.
Eventually I gave up and just removed the authenticator from WoW, life is too short already.

That's the problem, with SWTOR's Security Key you CAN NOT add a new "digitial security key" once you've already had one attached. Their current solution is for you to buy a physical key, once they remove the digital one.
Yesterday i switch to another ROM, and when i reinstall SWTOR Security Key, it asked me for a serial number and activation code. I tried to restore app with Titanium Backup and other similar apps with no luck. Then i opened a ticket to swtor support team, and they respond me that i need to call customer support. After a 12 min conversation, and asking at 2 security questions they remove security key from my account.
After that, in my account i still have the option to attach a security key again. But i will attach it only when they will add a option to remove that security key from account manager.

If you flash roms often you should invest in mauth in the market its like 3$ I think but it lets you back up you wow auth. online and restore it to any android device. also I think you can backup the blizzard one with titanium back up and it will still work.

before u upgrade, run the Restore feature in the app, you'll get a serial number and a restore code.
Write that down.
Then, when u get the new phone, you can use the restore feature again, enter in the serial # and restore code, and it will work for your account again.

There is no solution at that link. Read to the end--there is simply no "restore" feature associated with this app, and the current and only way to handle a ROM switch is to call Customer Support and have them remove it from the account...every single time. If there is something to back up, it's probably an encrypted file that cannot simply be restored, especially if the thing truly is secure. That's the whole point of an authenticator--security.
I just ran into this issue. I'm about to have to call Customer Support to remove it. I'm replying to say that after this B.S. I'm going to get the physical key. I was being cheap, but I preferred the physical key for WoW anyway, due to not having to find my phone, hope it wasn't dead, and deal with the constant crashes on the SWTOR android app. So basically, unlink the key, then buy a physical one if you want a security key still.
Removed!
In this link, if you already log-in, you can remove all security keys:

hi guys, i just got my galaxy s5 2 days ago,
i can tell it seems nice, but?
1- the tapping sometimes seems not callebrated!! like when i click to show the menu in data usage, it gives me the list to select/unselect the "restrict background data" but i can't select it!! same in many other menus, these menues which they changed from the press bottun hardware into a software menu to select, i can't select the ristrict background data, it is either going to above it "data roaming" or below it "enable wifi measure" how i can callebrate it? how i can make the touch work fine!!?? i even tried to use a thin pen softly many times, i just can't control some menus like the one i said about, also in messages (SMS) when trying to open a first message in the list, it opens for me "create new message instead" looks like the hit comes on the place that is above what i tap!!! any idea why?
2- i want to make the clock alarm put the das like S M T W T F S, but it keep reading starts from Monday, i've selected the regional settings correct "Dubai/ UAE" and made sure that is all like my old S3 which was fine, but i just couldn't make it appear as startting from Sunday!!! any idea?
3- when i am on the home screen, going right, goes to the right page, fine, going right again, goes to the next page, fine, but if i go left, it opens the magazine thing, i don't want it, i just want it to open the last page normally like you are flipping the pages, how i can do that?
4- the usb input place is really disgussting, everytime you need to carefully remove the cover and each ones you have to make sure you do it carefully not to spoil it, is seems thin and can't handle pressure, i just don't know why they put it,,,, any idea how to remove it "without breaking it" out of the device, so to keep it aside and may use it later for example??
thanks for your time guys

That's for the sprint variant of the s5. You can use the "Type to find your device" search box to find other versions. You will also want to enter the Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting subforum for any questions as general threads with questions are moved/deleted.

I've made control F and typed galaxy s5 and galaxy s 5 in the main xda forums page but nothing was found, so i thought it is not yet been created as it is new phone
ok please move it to that one, i am still looking for those answers though
On the top-right side of this page you will find a search bar with: "Type to find your device..." and a small phone icon to the right of said bar. In there, type Galaxy S5. You will see on a drop down list with all of the variants of the S5. Click whichever applies to you, be it the Sprint variant, etc. Since you state you use the Dubai format you may want to go for the international variant. We won't be able to help as this is the S4 forum, however, the S5 forums are definitely active and available.
The S5 was terrible. I'm back to my S4 and happy. It is a step back. No SV-LTE for starters.
Moved to Sprint S5 Q&A.

I've scoured the interwebs and found nothing of use so I was hoping someone here could point me in the right direction. I started using the native OnePlus Notes app when I got my OP6T. All my notes managed to survive every time I flashed back and from from the T-Mobile to international OP6T. They even survived the transfer to the OP7 Pro (TMO variant). However... now that I have switched to the international OP7 Pro, I can't seem to recover my notes at all. The .xml file is there but the actual data isn't making it's way into the Notes app.
All my notes on world domination are locked away in an xml file that sucks to comb through. Any help will be more than appreciated and I promise to spare anyone that helps from the pending doom.
Yes... I could have just used Google Keep or Evernotes or something but that would have been too easy.
maybe the international version uses a different file name? just create a new note in the international version and check out if a new xml-file has been created... if so, overwrite this xml-file with the one containing your notes and voila, your notes are there (and I'm spared from the pending doom)

Thanks. I actually tried that without success after I posted and through your efforts, you will be spared. Perhaps I'm looking for the wrong thing. Maybe it's not saved as an xml? I also connected my phone to my PC and searched for hidden files. I created a file on OnePlus Notes and searched for that. I checked every folder with the word "note" in its name all with no luck.

Hello everyone, I don't know if there is a question like this already but I would like to know : How can I write a text/ personal message on my lockscreen please?
I had this on my old LG V 30 and I can't find it on my Fx2 pro.
I don't know if that is possible at all, I've never seen any options for that. But what you can do is display a text on your AOD.

That's true, I've had the same thing happen to me when I restored a backup from my old Samsung. While then option clearly exists on standard Android and thus also is part of the backup routine, Oppo simply seems to have chosen not to implement the option in ColorOS. I wonder if it would be possible to somehow access or change settings for that via ADB commands.... ?
Has anyone figured out how to change this? I too restored from another phone (Oneplus 7T) and I can't change the (incorrect) lockscreen text I have!
It must be stored on the device in Android somewhere...
Nope, there is no option available. I have the same issue.
I spoke to Oppo customer support today about this and they confirmed there's no way to change it and said "they've already let headquarters know about this and there may be a fix in a future update".
I wouldn't hold you breath!

But good luck with that in a phone with locked bootloader and no way to root.
Yeah, too true unfortunately.
Would it be possible to get this phone added as a device, or maybe a General Questions thread for blu devices? Not sure if this is improper protocol here but if I looked around a bit and that just seems like the next logical step.. I think. Lol. There is a similar thread for getting root w/magisk but I believe that's it. I have never posted here either, but have also frequented here over the last several years. I have this device, as well as a few other Blu products, just started learning them recently. Its a mediatek course, have poke around with various features , still trying to unlock the bootloader. Did successfully unlock the bootloader on my Blu v50 (g50 plus clone), but the process is not the same. I created an account for this, will be watching here and on a few other devices, hopefully we can get some info to continue tinkering

i got into the phone by opening emergency calls. Then adding and editing emergency contact info. You will see the option to whe re you can call or send a text. choose text, then the three dots in top right corner allowing you to select details. In details click on notifications, then click the middle of the top of the screen which will open the messages app info. Now click open. open settings and choose permissions. Now you should see the search icon in the top right corner. Click it and type apps. In the apps go to play services and disable it, go back to where you typed apps and type accessibility. Go to accessibility and select the first option, think it is the accessibility menu. open it and turn it on...Now go all the way back to the start screen. Open the accessibility and and select the assistant. You will be asked to enable play services. after doing this you should be able to set up the device...if not restart the device and you should be able to then...If I haven't forgotten anything...I am going on memory alone with no device to refresh my steps...goodluck

(Yes it still works) I have found the reboot "Test Points" but haven't been successful in forcing Brom mode. If you can get it into Brom mode you can get MTK Client to recognize it and run the script to unlock the bootloader. But I'm not sure about getting it out of Brom after that. I'm not afraid to find out, I'll keep you posted on my progress.

Any update on this phone by any chance? Which test points are the correct ones?? I've been trying to figure It out for hours. And how did you find that info out if you don't mind me asking, just curious.
Turned mine on for the first time in a couple months, saw there's a security update. Won't be installing that, it seems unlikely but I'll hold out hope that a way to root or unlock bootloader is discovered for this phone someday. I'm on the July 5, 2022 update.
Ive tried this FRP bypass and I dont have the option of choosing permissions when I go to edit the text file. I have been able to get into drive but still havent found the app permissions options maybe it has been patched? The phone was last updated security wise oct 10 2022

The only thing I have gotten it to do from test point is reboot. The only thing that I can tell you is tear it down and start shorting them out one by one. But be careful, don't stay on point for too long. You may end cooking something.
