Manual Camera Controls in Nougat? - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any info,do we get new camera in Nougat, like a XZ and XP with full manual controls?

while it is mentioned in the latest video posted by sony xperia team, i don't really think it is going to be included for z5 (although our devices are equipped with the same sensor). At least, there's no announcement or indication that it is going to be included.

I saw that video and anouncement on Sony global and I am afraid that you in right. We can only hope so that wouldnt be like this cause same camera sensor, but I thinks that chances is minimal.

Why we get a bunch of threads like this -__-

Why would you think it is not going to be included? Based on what?
We don't know. Chances are no one will know. But so far other devices that got the update also got these features. There are no reason to think they're not going to be included.

They must to prolong X series shipment. For that reason I am afraid we wont get that.Even if we dont get that its not a huge de except for low light/night photos. These option that we have now is enough for good daylight photography(exposure,ISO,focus mode,WB)

as much as i want it, yea, it is not provided in the nougat update

Already got the manual controls on the z5 https://youtu.be/UQjl-qamO9g no need to get them from sony lol

Can you give me a link for similar posts?I can't find my question.
No, they don't work, for now
I suggest you to wait some time, maybe they will add them when there will be a stable version.
CM12 / DRM
My opinion:
- CM12 is too fresh and still partially buggy. You can play with that, but thats IMHO all. Not considered production.
- Unless somebody makes serious effort, forget about official Sony apps. Some are bound to DRM lost in process of unlocking bootloader.
- Camera will work as good as good is the hardware of it. Picture enhancement provided by software is Sony Stock ROM specific and bound to DRM. I have seen some guys working on DRM removal.
- There may be other apps with postprocessing to compensate for Sony postprocessing (low light etc.).

Not really as it is way to early. Seems everybody concentrates on L.
What's "L"?

Don't count on them being able to restore lost drm function. I already jumped ship on sony. The unlock was worth it to me since I came from a nexus. Only issue I really have so far is a battery issue I think might pertain to only a few "testers". Also, camera was never great to me... I went n5 > iPhone 6 (just two weeks) > z3. If anything I'll pick up the iPhone 6 again and use it as a weekend phone if I really start kicking myself over the camera.

Can I change the IMX220 camera sensor of my Xperia Z3, for a IMX230 sensor

Or in other words, the xperia z3 have "The drivers" in order to install the IMX220, or if I want to make this change, I have to modify the Kernel?
Thank you in advance.
I think you would need to write new drivers. Don't think they come with the Z3.

You can, bur you will spend so much time and effort and money to do this, that is much easier and cheaper to buy new phone instead.

Well, I know that it's more easy to buy a new phone, but this summer I'll have too much time
I don't think that it will be too much money and time, I only have to buy a the new camera that cost 20$ aprox.
And with the drivers, I think, "I don't know if I'm right, and this is the reason I create this post", that I only have to uncompress the kernel, find the side where is located the camera driver, and change this part of code for the code that have the Z4.
I repeat, I've never done a modification of the kernel, so I don't know her internal structure, If you say me that It will be very very dificult I won't do it.
The objective is not to improve the camera, is to do something this summer, instead of making android applications
Thank you
I see that all mobile devices use imx074.c driver, is this possible?
I assume even the stock camera app would need changes? Not to mention where would you get the unit, how do you know it will fit/have same connectors?
I'm really interested to know as well, if that's the case then i would be happy to change my camera but I'm pessimistic about the connector and the size of the camera as well. I don't think it won't fit. Is IMX230 the one is GS6?

The chances of it properly fitting with the lens/optics is slim to none. Not even all IMX220 implementations are equal due to different optics, and having a mismatch between the vignetting/distortion corrections for one optical assembly with another cause issues. (See CyanogenMod on the Z3 - using old 4.3 rhine camera blobs causes issues due to the Z3 having slightly different optics.)
The camera HALs are highly proprietary (no source code available) and tuned specifically to each device. Even if you managed to port the kernel side of the camera driver, you'll be missing a device-appropriate HAL stack, and the HAL is where the software "heavy lifting" actually occurs.
Retrofitting an IMX230 like this will be unlikely to work at all, and even if it does work, it'll result in poor image quality due to the HALs for any existing IMX230 implementation not matching what would be found if you retrofitted the sensor into a Z3.
Any news? I'm interested in it too... my project is about a complete new camera starting from the IMX230 sensor. You can find it on aliexpress for 15 usd. Than a MIPI module is required, with hdmi/video out. It doesn't sound too difficult...

Is it possible to enable the fingerprint scanner in a US version Z5?

I am probably going to get a Z5 in the next couple of days. I just wanted to know if it's possible to enable the fingerprint scanner on the US version, and if so can anyone tell me how to do it?

Yes, I have a US version of xperia z5 (E6603). I have flashed E6653 rom (here) , and the fingerprint sensor is working great.

Thanks! I just picked up the Z5 today, and I'll probably do the same as you have. That is if this weird screen brightness fluctuation doesn't make me return it and get the X instead.

Well that's good maybe Sony will release an update for XZP in the future. Why you said "abandoned"? It seems like you are overreacting a little bit...

Being an owner of the XZ Premium I will say that Sony's communication is basically non-existent when it comes to fixing issues. But I also notice that it appears that they are silently, slowly, fixing issues within their monthly security updates. Is this their way of not having to admit any problems??? Maybe! But I think they are, or for sure will, fix as much as they can on the Premium while also working on getting Oreo installed on this phone. Of course I could be completely wrong, but after participating on the Sony forum as well as here, it seems like more and more the issues are being stealthily fixed .
yes!!!

Drama Queen ?
Sorry, the source has been post again ,and confirmed that XZ1 still keep the serious distortion as XZP.
He said he did not know which distortion we are talking about. For sure to change other brand now. Will never buy any sony mobile product again. The final post here.

This version is worcking at sony xz premium, but i'm not impressed..
This is a start. It wasn't working at all. Still video crashes and if I tweak the settings then it crashes again.
If only Sony gives full manual control with RAW shooting. I think Sony Mobile should come hard on camera software cause everyone's doing it right except Sony.

I found it at 4pda forum, this is russian forum. There is many versions, but only this is worcking
It works because it is set as "No HDR+" in the settings and in the "Limited" mode for the new camera API instead of "Full". We can use the camera, but not the HDR+ it seems (unless one of those many HDR+ options works).
