MSL Code? - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, Happy 2017 for all, I have this phone for start the new year, but I live in Argentina, of course LTE isn't working, only 3G and variants, and I want to unlock the bands, but when I'm in the DATA MENU, The edit menu ask me for MSL CODE, and I'm tired of searching a solution, nothing works, so, maybe you guys knows something about this, I'm using 6.0.1 now, I don't know what I need to do, I can downgrade also. I trust in you guys and maybe someone can help me!
Regards and happy new year to all!! <3

the only way I know is by using galaxy tools. i sent you the two files you need. those files were meant to work on lollipop. Root phone, install gt 3.1.5, open it and grant it root permission, then install 3.1.8 update, click the big 'update' button, and reboot phone immediately after updating. Then, open the galaxy tools app again from the app drawer, and you will be able to see the msl code.
You could also get the msl code on 6.0.1 with galaxy tools. All you have to do before installing anything is just copy the "su" file that you can find in either /su/bin or /su/xbin and paste it in either /system/bin or /system/xbin, and just follow the same instructions above for installing galaxy tools.

[ HowTo ] Samsung Infuse 4g Free Unlock and Root on all O/S's

Well folks,
I've managed to buy and unlock this beast in under in an hour. Very nice little device. Its an upgraded captivate, silky smooth. The cameras are both great.
I was curious so I started digging and was able to generate the unlock code very similarly to the captivate.
I've attached a little root and unlock pack.
I make no warranties as to the usefulness or that this won't brick your brand new Infuse (I kind of doubt it but whatever)
Let me know if you like it.
This uses the rage against the cage exploit for root access, and I've thrown in the unlock code extraction at the same time. NOTE: The Unlock code is provided at the end of the process. It will complete the root and superuser install and then give you an Unlock code.
I have also added an unlock only mode. It still uses rage against the cage to gain root access, but its only temporary and all utils are removed.
Props go to the guys behind Rage Against The Cage...
Required:
1. adb setup (Included all adb binaries in zip)
2. usb debug mode activated on your phone.
Settings>>Applications>>Development>>USB debugging3. Mac, Linux, or Windows.
Instructions:
1. Grab the attached zip file.
2. Unzip
3. For root+unlock
Mac & Linux (Depending on how your system is setup, you should be able to just double-click the shell script and have it work... otherwise)
Open a Terminal window
Navigate to the directory you downloaded the file
Unzip the file if you haven't already
Go into the directory
Type: ./root.sh
Windows
If you don't have the drivers, install Samsung Kies (easiest way)
Unzip file
Go into directory where the unzipped files are
Double-click on root.bat
4. For unlock only
Follow the instructions for root, but use the unlock files instead
To unlock your phone with the provided code, pop in another provider sim card and you'll be prompted on reboot of the phone for the network code.
This is my first root and unlock post, so I hope it helps you all out.
Update 1: Original version
Update 2: I have now added Windows support.
Update 3: Added a pause to the .bat file so that you won't miss the unlock code.
Update 4: Added unlock without persistent root.
Update 5: Provide more detailed instructions

A number of people have asked where to send donations... Don't feel obligated but if you really want to...
Does the Infuse not have its own forum?
Not yet... I looked and this is the only place with Infuse posts.
submitted to portal
Its been rooted like over 3 days now.... Just use the super one-click and call it a day..... seems easier.... The infuse forum is already being created will be up later this week....
Didn't see anything on the unlock. So I combined it into a single executable script. Network unlock + root...
Use it, don't use it, its all good.

Yeah all good.... did yours come network unlocked? I thought mine was, but oh wellz I still used the sgs unlocker....
It was locked to AT&T by default, now it works on everything.
Is there a Windows version for this? I am going to Buffalo (From T.O) on Tuesday and will be picking it up.
I agreed windows version maybe?
what about XP?
Windows is now supported in V2 of the zip. Just run the included "root.bat" after you unzip the file. The zip has replaced the original in the first post of the thread.
this zip is only for root, what about unlock?
SGS is ok?
It roots and gives you the unlock code.
I don't know if SGS is ok. I didn't try it. I'm guessing that its not since the data file is in a different location and the contents are organized differently then before. Certainly different than my Captivate.
SGS Unlock Does not work...
I gave SGS Unlock v2.1 a try and, as I suspected, it does not work.
Anybody tried this before? No offense to the OP but just want some confirmation before I try it on mine. Could you post a video or some kind? Thanks!
Ima try it when I get home, but I also confirm sgs unlock doesn't work. Paid or unpaid, both don't work. You root using super one-click as well but right now I want to network unlock, so hopefully when I get home.....I'll report back
thanks alot i am trying to get away from any depndancy on windows and this worked perfectly, i have done the rage against the cage method on an evo but dont remember much about it. at least now i can look at your scripts and learn from it.
Chika Da China Da Chinese Chicken?
Anyone know where it get the INFUSE Original Kernel?
I got ahead of myself, tried flashing SPeedmod kernel to get past the 3e recovery and now have a brand new phone that won't get past the boot screen.
I just need the image to load using ODIN.
Hehehehe.....oops.
I rooted and unlocked my phone with the script. Since, its hard to post a video showing the unlock since you can only unlock once, would you just like to see a video of the active phone and a sim card swap?
Otherwise, I don't believe I'm going to ask this but...
"Does anyone know how to relock a phone?"
I suppose I can post a video of the rooting process. It will show the unlock code at the end. But since root is not at issue I'm not sure that its worth it.

unlock galaxy s 4g (vibrant) super problems

hi there experts
i am having a hard time sim unlocking this particular phone. i have no idea what else to do.
the applications by DaGentooBoy do not work. the code comes back NULL
there is no nv_data.bin file anywhere to be found in the phone
i tried the BML5 method, but the string is nowhere to be found in that file.
it seems that the t-mobile galaxy s 4g phone do not have this unlock code incorporated in.
i have tried Galaxy_s Unlock took from the market but it always gives an error saying that i have a problem with busybox. i have tried it on rooted 2.2 froyo the phone came with. i have 2.3.6 gingerbread on right now (stock from samsung loaded with kies and rooted with superoneclick 2.2) but no go same issues. i tried installing different busybox versions. still nothing. i have tried other roms, still nothing. the developers of galaxy_s unlock tool say that there are issues with busybox and droid2.2, but it does not work on 2.3.4, 2.3.6. nothing works.
i have tried and unlocked an att captivate with the galaxy_s unlock tool after root. that phone also had the codes coming up NULL and no nv_data.bin files, but it works with galaxy_s unlock tool.
i am reading here (http://techlab102.com/samsung-galaxy-s-carrier-unlock/) that the t-mobile vibrant phone has a bunch of bloatware that prevents busybox from installing correctly or at all. they said they installed some manager and uninstalled this bloatware, but fails to says which ones. i am looking at a ton of stuff in the phone with the manager, and i have no idea what to uninstall in order for the busybox to install correctly anf for glagy_s unlock tool to work.
if anybody can point me in a direction that would allow me to do this i would really appreciate it. thank you very much.
jmecherul
EDIT: this is the galaxy s 4g from t-mobile (no the vibrant). is it possible that the nv_data.bin files is somewhere else in the phone no in the usual spot?
The nv_data.bin should be found in
/efs/root/afs/settings.
i dont recommend the apps as ive tried them, and all of them nulled my imei. (maybe thats just me).
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA Premium App
i found it
wondering why the nv_data.bin is in that folder instead of just /efs on the galaxy s 4g. funny.
If your imei is already null and you have no backup of the efs folder or even the nv_data.bin, im sorry i cant help you, you should ask a true expert.
If you do have a backup of the original unedited nv_data.bin, youre in luck.
Step 1: delete the nv_data.bin file from the original folder.
Step 2: move the backup of the nv_data.bin file you have into the original folder.
Step 3: open up your hex editor of choice, and go to the nv_Data.bin file. Hit options, jump to address ->1468 after the ff, you will see 01 00 00 00. (these numbers represent the locks. 01 is the network lock.)
change the 01 to 00. Save it, and close hex editor.
Step 4: delete the nv.md5 file located in the same folder as the nv_bin file.
Step 5: reboot.
if you dun have the backup, i just spent time writing that for nothing T-T
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA Premium App
i see where it is now. i did read that procedure with the nv_data.bin on the website, but seemed complicated and i thought the file is somewhere else. but, follower the procedure and worked like a charm. thanks
hi LIGHT
thanks for the heads up. my imei was fine. i suppose by NULL you mean that it shows NULL instead of the 16 digits in settings/about phone/status. it was never the case with mine. i am a little bit of an idiot because i was trying to do it the easy way using the software instead of dipping my toes into a little bit of linux stuff. the procedure was right there in front on me (there is a big post about it) but mentions the software below the hard way. but, got it working and now shows network unlocked and takes other sims.
it is kind of funny how the att captivate worked with the GALAXY_S UNLOCK software and the S 4G does not. it seem that t-mobile is doing something funky. although, it just struck me that i could have called t-mobile and ask them for an unlock code, but i kind of wanted to do it myself.
thanks anyway. it is much appreciated
By null, i mean 0000000000000000.
But glad you figured it out.

[Q] DROID3 XT862 for pageplus and T-Mobile

Hi,
The system version is 5.7.906.XT862.Verizon.en.US
It was unlocked, rooted and installed root explorer ready to modify to work with US GSM ( Lycamobile also)
Here is where I got info to follow
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1989359
However, I have some concerns need help
1- will the instruction and the first build.prop file in the above link will work with my phone?
2- Can I use the phone with both pageplus ( being flashed with TalkForGood) and T-Mobile ( Lycamobile later)? I saw the same question without answer here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1425519
3- Can I use the phone oversea as a global phone without a need to follow the above link in Non-US GSM Networks session?
4- In case I want to go back stock image ( revert to the original one after messing it up), how?
To Skreelink, thank for your instruction but can you or anyone show me where to do the "required options" part because I simply couldn't find what you mentioned in my phone under Wireless & Network setting -> Mobile Network.
( I tried to post this under the above post but couldn't)
Thanks

1: The link you provided is my information and files for KEXEC ROMs, such as CM10.2 or AOKP. For the stock rom (As you listed 906), you will want to go here.
2: If you flash the XT883 radio for US GSM networks (like T-Mobile) you will not be able to flip between them via software toggle, you will have to flash the stock radio + swap build.prop back to stock and OTA on PagePlus, vice versa when you want to use the other network. (I wanted the same thing, I solved it by getting a Motorola Razr M XT907). The main reason for this is; The XT883 radio expects an RUIM card (CDMA version of SIM) and without it, puts it in emergency only mode. Verizon/PagePlus/Sprint/other US CDMA networks do not use the RUIM so no real way around this.
3: To use it as a global phone, just restore the stock radio and build.prop, it should work without issue WITHOUT MODIFICATION, as long as you have input the SIM unlock code to unlock the phone. You *can* use the XT883 radio globally, but both radios will work for global GSM.
4: To return to stock, follow this thread.
thank you
The best answer I have ever seen.
So if I buy Motorola Razr M XT907 to achieve the goal Pageplus/T-mobile, where is the best procedure I should follow?
Thank you very much.

I couldn't change its properties or owner or overwrite the file.
I see the instruction here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1406812&page=3
but I couldn't overwrite the original file with the modified one.
I rooted the phone already.
I am not sure what I did was wrong.

You either have to use adb or a root browser. Rom Toolbox Lite has one, ES File explorer also has one. I'm sure other apps have a root browser, but I've not used others.Rom Toolbox's root browser allows you to longpress for a menu to change permissions.
Help please

Thank you for your fast reply.
I use totalcommander that run with superuser permission.
With a long press on the file, I go to property and set up with all permission ( 777)
After I hit OK to confirm the change, nothing happens but when I check again, it is still (rw-r--r--)
I have superuser installed.
I am stuck now.
Is there a way to browse and copy overwrite via windows or before the phone is up ( using usb cable)
Help please

If the permissions are not sticking, then the app you're using either does not have root privledges, is not performing correctly, or your root isn't correct. Try updating your superuser binary via the superuser app. Although, rw-r--r-- should be just fine, 777 would 'pose' a security threat since it would allow any app to modify it. Long as you replace it with the one required for GSM, rw-r--r-- permissions should work.

Sorry, didn't see this until now... getting the Razr M on pageplus is a real pain, though T-Mobile would be simple. It's a matter of getting the computer to read the diag port (you have to manually select the driver) and simply editing ONE NV-Item, then any GSM sim will work (AT&T, T-Mobile, etc).
Here is one of my posts with a quick guide about unlocking a razr m for gsm.
THANK YOU

I install Rom Toolbox Lite, it failed to verify root.
I check in SuperUser app and found a check mark "Temp Unroot"
I clear and run update for superuser.
Then I remove Rom ToolBox Lite and install again.
I then use Root browser from its link.
Each time it prompts permission of su.
I copy and paste sucessfully.
Reboot the phone and it work in T-Mobile NOW.
It WORKS now.
Thank you so much.
According to your answer in my first post, I can use this phone with GSM oversea without modification ?
Can you help on the link to the instruction of the phone model that can toggle between Pageplus/T-mobile.
I am much appreciated your help.

The Droid 3 requires flashing the radio and build.prop to swap between CDMA/GSM
UNLESS it it is a foreign GSM network like Rogers in Canada, then the stock radio works without modification. The XT907 Razr M can do a software toggle between them (Network mode under Mobile Networks like the D3) but setting up PagePlus requires a lot of work for data, though GSM is a lot easier to get working than the D3. You can still go ahead and activate the D3 on pageplus, just after you flash between radios, you have to OTA program each time.
question for help

I think I can do the same process with the image file from the original and overwrite the build.prop with original.
I did back up the build.prop but not the radio.img
Where can I find the Droid 3 radio.img of 906 version?
I want it simple as a reverting from what I did because I already removed all Verizon apps and install my apps in the current image.
A recovery task can bring back the original image.
** Oversea I meant is Vietnam

Sorry it took me so long, I had a long hectic day, but Here it is.
Just flash it like you did the XT883 radio and put a stock build.prop in (you should have backed up the original). Then you should be able to OTA program with *228 if it's activated on pageplus.
THANK YOU

[Q]Galaxy S5 Problem

First off, I want to apologize if I've put this in the wrong place or if something is not in accordance to the rules for posting. I am new to this website and have a bugger of a problem. I would like to edit something in my galaxy S5's SM-G900A settings.db file, but understand being rooted is required to do this. I decided I wanted to too late, and now lollipop and my phone model are the reason that there is not any sort of root for my phone at the moment. I am not willing to backup, downgrade, root, edit, then use a special thing to update to lollipop keep root access. I have read of ADB and JVM and was wondering if anyone could tell me of any way I could gain access to and edit my phones settings.db file on lollipop without rooting, I know JVM and ADB may be viable but I know nothing of how to. Any other methods or suggestions are welcome. Thanks for reading this!

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Trend 3 (SM-G3502) Rooting Help

So.. After a whole week trying to find a succesful way to root this f***ng phone, no success has been found.
I couldn't find this phone's section on XDA so I'm posting this on the general section...
If anyone could give me the link to the section, it would be very appreciated.
This is the phone:
Samsung Galaxy Trend 3 - SM-G3502C
Android Version: 4.3
Build Number: JLS36C.G3502CZCUAOD1
I have tried a number of on android apps, windows software, and even tried rooting manually by adb and linux. But couldn't have a single successful attempt or any signs of progress made...
Can anyone help me out with this phone, the reason I need root is because this is a chinese phone and doesnt have Play Store installed, and I need root access to install Play Store on /system/apps/ and give R+W permission...
Apps tried:
Saferoot
Kingo App Root
iRoot (vRoot/Root Master)
OneClickRoot
TowelRoot
A bunch of .bat rooting scripts
Baidu in-app Rooter
Rooting through ADB (everything was going fine until I had to access Ubuntu's Nautilus, to move the files to /system/ but the device wouldn't mount by MTP on download mode, and I couldn't access the files) link to the guide followed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2684210
Any help would be truly appreciated, and If there is a way to install play store without the need of root access, or even a good replacement for play store would be really good.
Also, I have 0 experience on custom recovery, so, If any developer out there could create a custom recovery for this phone, I could give them the recovery.img from this phone and modify it to work on this phone. If that's the way it works, idk XD.
P.D. I already opened a thread on XDA-Assist but sorry, I had to move it, I saw that every post on that section had little views and replies and I was worried that this would happened to me on that section to me too. I'm ok if I need to erase it from there but I would like to leave it there for some time if there is any replies.
Link to the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/xda-assist/samsung-galaxy-trend-3-sm-g3502-rooting-t3106250
Hi, still you right~ looks like your are really can't to wait to root your device. Just try KingRoot, we just release new version which can root device from Android 2.x to 5.0. I can't give you promise, but just have a try~ good luck
