First off, I want to apologize if I've put this in the wrong place or if something is not in accordance to the rules for posting. I am new to this website and have a bugger of a problem. I would like to edit something in my galaxy S5's SM-G900A settings.db file, but understand being rooted is required to do this. I decided I wanted to too late, and now lollipop and my phone model are the reason that there is not any sort of root for my phone at the moment. I am not willing to backup, downgrade, root, edit, then use a special thing to update to lollipop keep root access. I have read of ADB and JVM and was wondering if anyone could tell me of any way I could gain access to and edit my phones settings.db file on lollipop without rooting, I know JVM and ADB may be viable but I know nothing of how to. Any other methods or suggestions are welcome. Thanks for reading this!

I will reply to this... but for future reference it says no noobs on the forums desc. That would include questions like this that you can easily find on google. Superuser privileges allow you to do things that an unrooted phone will not. Firmware roms are easily up-datable, there's even an app for that (not intentional iPod reference) if you cannot find one online for your phone.

Currently i am looking for information regarding debloating a rom through either adb, terminal, modifying the odin file, signed CWM zip,or any other way if possible. I saw a thread somewhere that gave info on doing this throughh adb.
if anyone has any links threads or any where i can start from please post it in here or if any developers or modders know please share. Many thanks in advance for anyone who can help.

If I'm not mistaken (I'm not an expert with ADB) you can use the commands to 'pull' an .apk out just like you would 'push' or install one. Aside from that you can use Titanium Backup to freeze and hide apps you don't want, or use Root Explorer to manually delete/rename system apps. I wouldn't use the option to tamper with an Odin or CWM package unless you really know what you're doing. And of course you would need to know what can be removed safely and what can't, there is a thread somewhere with this info I will look for it...
okay thanks alot i was looking and i couldnt find it because i remember some of the commands for

then thats it i think, but i do not want to tamper without some homework being done. i prob wouldnt mess with a odin or cwm package unless someone could give me a start point to get more info. i know a magician wouldnt share their secrets so i am sure the rom developers wouldnt really either ^^
I used Root Explorer from the market, and delete those apks not needed.
Yea I know how to do that, which isn't hard, but I read somewhere and there are commands to remove and I'd rather use the command lines because it also takes about removing something else somewhere....like "symlink" or something to that effect

So.. After a whole week trying to find a succesful way to root this f***ng phone, no success has been found.

I have tried a number of on android apps, windows software, and even tried rooting manually by adb and linux. But couldn't have a single successful attempt or any signs of progress made...
Can anyone help me out with this phone, the reason I need root is because this is a chinese phone and doesnt have Play Store installed, and I need root access to install Play Store on /system/apps/ and give R+W permission...

Any help would be truly appreciated, and If there is a way to install play store without the need of root access, or even a good replacement for play store would be really good.
Also, I have 0 experience on custom recovery, so, If any developer out there could create a custom recovery for this phone, I could give them the recovery.img from this phone and modify it to work on this phone. If that's the way it works, idk XD.
P.D. I already opened a thread on XDA-Assist but sorry, I had to move it, I saw that every post on that section had little views and replies and I was worried that this would happened to me on that section to me too. I'm ok if I need to erase it from there but I would like to leave it there for some time if there is any replies.

Hi, still you right~ looks like your are really can't to wait to root your device. Just try KingRoot, we just release new version which can root device from Android 2.x to 5.0. I can't give you promise, but just have a try~ good luck

second, something i learn and something i want to learn more is about android always, but here is my question below that is really important. i don't know if it really make sense or not but i would like to know your opinion.
question :- i see there is a way to push files into device without rooting it. is it secure? it is safe? i guess yes. than how can i push titanium backup(data only) of particular app into my device?
example : - i myself after learning lot about apk tool and all that, modded "whatsapp" successfully and which is out of this world according to me, lately i cam to know there is already one called whatsapp GB, but mine is mine. (right now i don't have rooted device so couldn't send screenshot), but what i am trying to figure out is, i can install my modded apk on my non-rooted device and can run it either, problem comes when it is about registering number, what i really thought that if i can push titanium backup of my modded whatsapp.apk (data only - taken perviously when i had rooted device) to this non rooted device via ADB, than i didn't need to root my device ever, and so for any other app that is modded by me or any developers can be executed on non rooted device.
pros - if this is possible than i guess People won't need to root device, will not loose warranties, will not loose device by bricking it, will get out of a procedure of root methods, no one will ask more about root method, soft brick, hard brick, boot loader issues and many more questions like that i guess.
there will left only one tutorial than if this is possible and it will be like this - how to use adb?(step by step : beginner to black hat).
if this is possible than what we need? proper method of how to use adb, most of people easily can learn how to use adb but most of tutorial misses some points like how to push file by changing r/w permission, and where to put new data backup or files in device like some tutorial i have seen gives only command line but people actually don't know where to put the file like /data/data and than what?
Developers and Rooted device owner will become God in fact in this case because they can lead the rest in right path.
is this possible? or am i ridiculously making no sense?
