(Noob Question) What Is Super Request - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

hi all i found out how to enable root permissions
but what is superuser request for.
also can i upgrade my firmware from 1.6 to the newest version when my phone is rooted

I will reply to this... but for future reference it says no noobs on the forums desc. That would include questions like this that you can easily find on google. Superuser privileges allow you to do things that an unrooted phone will not. Firmware roms are easily up-datable, there's even an app for that (not intentional iPod reference) if you cannot find one online for your phone.

thanks koyhoy reason for asking was that i couldnt find decent descripton of super user request but knowing this i can continue rooting my phone.

[Q] Root a droid from scratch

Hope this is the right place to post this question. I'm so curious my cat has one life left.
How would you root a droid from scratch?
What's the process?
I realize the process would fill volumes, so all i'm looking for is some pointers on where I can find this info.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=670
Assuming you mean the moto droid 1
If not just search the device and all that info is in the development section, read the first few posts or "stickies" to learn more
Hope this helps
It did help and thanks.
Please correct me where this is wrong but it seems that:
Rooting is simply the process of granting yourself superuser privileges on the phone.
If that's correct, then what, on a stock phone, is preventing me from getting root access to the phone?
How do I find whatever it is that's blocking root access?
How do I change the 'blocker' to allow root access?
A specific example on the process would be very informative.

[Q]Galaxy S5 Problem

First off, I want to apologize if I've put this in the wrong place or if something is not in accordance to the rules for posting. I am new to this website and have a bugger of a problem. I would like to edit something in my galaxy S5's SM-G900A settings.db file, but understand being rooted is required to do this. I decided I wanted to too late, and now lollipop and my phone model are the reason that there is not any sort of root for my phone at the moment. I am not willing to backup, downgrade, root, edit, then use a special thing to update to lollipop keep root access. I have read of ADB and JVM and was wondering if anyone could tell me of any way I could gain access to and edit my phones settings.db file on lollipop without rooting, I know JVM and ADB may be viable but I know nothing of how to. Any other methods or suggestions are welcome. Thanks for reading this!

[Completed] New approach on root methods?

After reading about the many ways to be able to send commands from ones computer to their phone in various ways, though not knowing much of how to go about them, I got confused. I was thinking that there should be a app where one can flash a zip file, like Supersu without a computer in order to gain root. Similar to ones custom recovery but just no root. The way that it would work, I thought should be similar to most rooting apps that we have today, for example Kingroot. If we can have such an approach as in a rooting app, there should be a similar type of app although this app is to flash supersu. Have an app where I put my zip file of supersu into. Then the app searches like kingroot for a niche to to its duty. It will find that my phone is compatible and it will then go ahead and flash supersu. If one says that this is useless being that we have root apps, I think not. To all the thousands who are searching for root and cannot get it even from a root app, they definitely would love to have supersu run as a system file. Now, I don't know if what I'm saying makes sense but I would love to find out. I may be showing my ignorance or I'm not. Please tell me what you think or what I need to know. Thank you to all.
Hello,
Try doing a Google search for "How to root (your device model number)" and if there is a known method you should find it in your search results.
To find your model number go to system settings>about phone>model number or look behind the battery. Use that model number for everything you search for about your phone.
You can try posting your question in the forum linked below.

Good luck.

[Completed] about non rooted devices

hi guys,
first, i m all time thankful to these developer guys, you make mobile world so genius, yeah it was never genius,
second, something i learn and something i want to learn more is about android always, but here is my question below that is really important. i don't know if it really make sense or not but i would like to know your opinion.
question :- i see there is a way to push files into device without rooting it. is it secure? it is safe? i guess yes. than how can i push titanium backup(data only) of particular app into my device?
example : - i myself after learning lot about apk tool and all that, modded "whatsapp" successfully and which is out of this world according to me, lately i cam to know there is already one called whatsapp GB, but mine is mine. (right now i don't have rooted device so couldn't send screenshot), but what i am trying to figure out is, i can install my modded apk on my non-rooted device and can run it either, problem comes when it is about registering number, what i really thought that if i can push titanium backup of my modded whatsapp.apk (data only - taken perviously when i had rooted device) to this non rooted device via ADB, than i didn't need to root my device ever, and so for any other app that is modded by me or any developers can be executed on non rooted device.
pros - if this is possible than i guess People won't need to root device, will not loose warranties, will not loose device by bricking it, will get out of a procedure of root methods, no one will ask more about root method, soft brick, hard brick, boot loader issues and many more questions like that i guess.
there will left only one tutorial than if this is possible and it will be like this - how to use adb?(step by step : beginner to black hat).
if this is possible than what we need? proper method of how to use adb, most of people easily can learn how to use adb but most of tutorial misses some points like how to push file by changing r/w permission, and where to put new data backup or files in device like some tutorial i have seen gives only command line but people actually don't know where to put the file like /data/data and than what?
Developers and Rooted device owner will become God in fact in this case because they can lead the rest in right path.
is this possible? or am i ridiculously making no sense?
