fingerprint - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

Sorry for making second topic but do yiu also realised wheb you instal more apps on your honor your fingerprint scanner sometimes does not work like it should?

That shouldn't happen. Unless you have multiple apps that require the use of the fingerprint scanner. What apps do you have installed on your device?

Nothing what requires fingerprint

Jjust get your phone checked by the service centre, because ur facing way more problems than u should with your fingerprint sensor, my sensor also sometimes fails to read my finger print but that happens only once or twice a day

I have many apps, the fp performance is still on point

This can happen with any Android device. Due to the way Android is coded performance drops once the device hits more then 50% storage used. Happens to every device.

Fingerprint sensor working from time to time

Hello, well I have noticed recently a strange behavior in the fingerprint sensor, but this behavior its always there (its not recently)
I have a pattern and the fingerprint enabled, but the fingerprint sensor only works when ths lockscreen displays the fingerprint logo, but here is the strange thing, the sensor recognize my fingerprint (because it vibrates once and ask for the pattern, if I put another finger its not registered, vibrate twice and doesnt ask for the pattern), I have already flash the phone several times, the first time I believe the sensor just doesnt recognize me, but later I discover this behavior and it looks like maybe a software bug
Something else notice these?
Is there a fix? its sometimes annoying
Thanks!

maybe its a hardware issue , i think u said u flashed ur phone several times? tried different ftf files? if thats the case , then its hardware issue. i havent heared that at all. the only issue i have seen before with the fingrprnt scanner is that sometimes it says an error but u reboot and its ok ( havent seen that for months though)

yes I have flashed it several times with the original and other ftf files (always respecting the model number), will try with a friends phone and see if this behavior happen there too
Latest firmware of Nordic Combined hasn't given this issue for more than a month now. Do a clean update I'd say.

Fingerprint enrollment

Anybody get the fingerprint enrollment to work without sending phone back to OnePlus. I have tried just about every fix I can find on other threads with no success. I installed the latest OS 11.0.5.6 AA and I think it got worse. Can't even run the calibration tests. My fingerprint has been broken since I got the phone new from OnePlus. I don't really use it at the present but it would be nice to have working if I decide to sell phone later.
By broken do you mean its not detecting your fingerprint? are you using a screen protector? If you send it to OnePlus with a Lock on it they will refuse it and probably keep it if they follow Sammys practices...
never gets to the point of detecting fingerprint. just error message that enrollment not complete.
Is this only in the first set up screen or even when you go through the settings to ass fingers?
The only issue I have with my FP reader is sometimes when I first unlock the phone I have to place my finger/thumb directly center and use relatively firm pressure to get it to unlock. If I relock the phone (using double tap, or the power button) and then double tap to unlock right away the reader works much better. I am not sure why it only appears less reliable after the phone has been locked for some time...( i have not done any time lock experiments). Also, after the phone is unlocked and I use the FP reader for anything else...like a banking app, of whatever else...it works flawlessly and responds very quickly as expected. I am not sure why it only acts "funny" after being locked for some time. It's almost like something is going into a deep sleep while being locked???
At any rate, what you are describing sounds much different, even though it might somehow be related to the whole FP reader issues. If mine was acting as bad as your I would demand a return, repair, refund...whatever it takes to get the issue fixed.
Got it to work. I had pulled persist img when I first received the phone and unlocked. I flashed the old persist.img using fastbootd and got fingerprint to enroll. I use a tempered glass screen protector and it took awhile to get it enrolled but works good now that I have a fingerprint entered.

Umidigi S5 Pro FP Sensor Calibration

I've just replaced the screen on my friends S5 Pro and currently don't have a working FP sensor. I've double checked and the sensor is seated correctly and there is nothing obscuring its little window on the screen.
I want to recalibrate the sensor, but cannot find a way to do this. All of the useful dialer hidden codes are disabled. It might be that doing a factory reset or re-flashing the full firmware would trigger the sensor to calibrate itself, however my friend spent days getting everything just how he likes things and says he'd rather live without the sensor than have to set everything up again and doesn't trust non-root backup solutions to work properly. He doesn't want to unlock his bootloader, so rooting is out of the question.
Does anyone know of any way to get into some kind of engineering mode on this phone to be able to force a fingerprint sensor calibration?

The fingerprint sensor went completely over the cuckoo's nest in my Umidigi S5 Pro for no apparent reason, now I can't use it at all. Any ideas?
Same thing happened to me shortly after an OTA update if I remember correctly... any luck with a fix thus far?

General An Interesting Solution To Fingerprint Scanner Not Working in AOD

Hello,
This is my first post probably after 6-7 years.
In my Pixel 7 Pro [which is a little over one month and one week old] I have found the onscreen FP scanner does not always work when the phone is in AOD mode. If I touch the FP scanner nothing happens; it feels as if it is an image LOL.
Searched internet a bit and found this phenomena is a common problem with phones that have onscreen FP scanner [perhaps more specifically with optical scanner? I dunno].
Checked the solutions and none worked until I found out that if my default finger [which happens to be my right thumb] does not activate the FP scanner it has always been my left thumb that works perfectly fine. It is as if the Scanner was waiting for my other finger to press LOL.
Both my thumbs are clean/have same state of cleanliness during operation.
I think this could be helpful to those who probably scratch their head wondering as to why the FP scanner does not work in AOD. If you have more than one finger assigned, just try the other one.
This also raises a question to me [which might be lame], is Google doing it intentionally requiring the other fingerprint sometimes?
Agreed. Fingerprint scanner is unreliable regardless of AOD. Adding multiple fingers can help, but the reader is just wonky (that's a technical term)
It's worthless. Such an aggravation I just use the login code.
Don't know what you people are doing, my fingerprints (both thumbs) work just fine, once in a blue moon it might miss the first time, however I have never had a failed fingerprint unlock from either AOD or lock screen.
I never have issues with my fingerprint scanner on all 4 fingers I added

What in the system is responsible for the operation of the proximity sensor?

I have OnePlus 8. After one of the updates of the stock android, the pocket mode stopped working for me. Since then, I switched to other ROMs a long time ago and at the moment I remain on the lineage. That is, the problem is clearly not in the ROM.
I used to think that the driver firmware was responsible for the proximity sensor, but this is not so. I have latest one.
The funny thing is that the sensor is absolutely serviceable. It works correctly while phone is locked but screen is turned on, while talking and with the help of third-party applications, such as Gravity Screen. Also, any application for testing the sensor works shows its serviceability.
I'm far from the only one with this problem of OnePlus. Support team responds to requests with useless templatesю Maybe there is a way to fix this somehow? Thank you.
