Think about it, the Honor 8 and P9 ar almost the same phone.
But the P9 have the Leica camera module.
But what if we could change that?
This is the P9 Leica camera

And this is the Honor 8 camera
They look very much the same size to me.
I'll just need so se if the connection is the same
There isn't much of a difference anyway...perhaps the H8 has even better camera than P9
Both phones have the 12-megapixel IMX286 Sony sensor.
On Honor 8 we have the camera optics from Huawei, and on the P9 they hade help from Leica.
That makes a huge difference on monochrome pictures. In that i say the monochrome photos produced by P9 has a higher contrast than that of Honor 8.
They're Identical 100%, it's just the camera/software that makes a small difference, also the leica branding obviously
Its stated here honor 8 use leica as well
http://www.devicespecifications.com/en/model/57b63d1d
I won't be surprised if it is 100% identical.
It is identical, but the camera app on the p9 is better (RAW support and the use of monochrome lens alone)

Hello guys,
I recently bought and NO1 N3 phone, wich have 13 Mpx Back camera and 5 MPx Front camera.
Well, actualy, i seriously think that the manufactuers placed both cameras of 5 MPx.
That's true.
I tried several stuff, but the camera aplication is just showing a maxium of 5 MPx resolution, 1920 x 2840 i think, or near of that.
This is true for some apps like mobile uncle toos or Antutu, that reads device info. For antutu, both cameras for 4.9 Megapixels.

Trust me this is not from the ROM or Libs, something else like some bug or malfunction of the device.
All of my friends with the same phone, no problem, i never seen nothing like this before...
You may say something,

I have the same problem. It looks like it is focusing when taking the picture, but the final picture is ALWAYS out of focus.
I have discused this in the RAW freedcam post. All cams, except the motorola always out of focus on macro lowlight. Motocam the g3 version and the ported g4 takes this ok, but with elevated ISO.
The solution is use motocam original version g3 or the port of g4 or use a camera app with flash torch mode. Like opencamera or freedcam,

Its just as you say it! :/
So I was comparing photos between the Mi note 10 and the P30 Pro and realized that even though the pictures in 108 mb resolutionin look nice in good lighting, there was a weird smoothing effect going on, especially noticeable in the gras. When I went to the gsm arena photo comparing tool, I noticed that the Mi Note 10 had a somewhat strong blur effect in the pictures (pictures in the link). Is this part of the phones software to remove noise produced due to the high resolution sensor?

Does anyone have a raw and jpeg of a picture to compare?
if you want to compare the 108 MP picture, you need to compare it with the 40MP of P30, so that you compared picture without pixel binning with another which also dont use pixel binning,
else, the one without, will always looks softer
not to mention bigger sensor mean less depth of field
Yeah there's definitely some smoothing going on when you use the 108mp in poor light conditions. I'd say the 108 mp is only for perfect conditions.
I don't think I'll even use that mode, I just appreciate getting 27 mp binned images, which themselves are a massive improvement over the typical 12mp images from other phones.
well its the same as if u have 300mgbit internet conection
an the site u are trying to download from only support 3mb download u wont get any more than 3mb
its the same wiht 108 mp camera
if the software is bad u wont get a perfect picture untill the software support it
so xiaomi needs to step it up an make the perfect software
even op7pro takes better pict

Settings for Small Photos:
Settings ---> HDR+ options ---> JPG Compression = 80 - 90%
Settings for Very Small Photos:
Add
Settings ---> Back Camera Photo Resolution = (16:9) 9.1 mpx or 5.8 mpx
For Front Camera = (16:9) 4.1 mpx
For Video:
Set 480 mpx
For Night:
* Set button (HDR+) on
* Set "Exposure Correction" ISO 1600
Enjoy !!
It doesn't have night mode. And I had to set the shadow saturation from 1.6 to 1 to have normal looking picture.
Thanks, it works great for meeeee}:‑)
It:s just me or i jave notice a way better wide angle when using this app ?
With normal camera, it works ok, but when using this app, the picture and the viewfinder it get way better, like you have wide angle option.... It just take a bigger angle pictures...
I have to say, this is the best camera i have use so far for this phone. It takes amazing pictures with the HDR+ Mode on

Dear
Try with the stable version of ROM 11.0.7
It's an extraordinary app, It works fully and takes Amazing photos and videos! Used on Redmi 8 global 11.0.11. Thank you!!!
Hi @CygnusX2, this thread is being closed since a GCam thread already exists. Kindly continue the discussion in this thread. Having multiple threads for different versions of the same mod is not productive, and it's better to have one single thread where the discussion can take place.
Have a nice day!

Hello, I am interested in buying the P40 Pro. I know that the P40 pro shoots at 12.5 MP by default, but to do this, there is some upscaling. In theory this would result in worse pictures than the Mate 30 Pro. Would it be possible to shoot at a non-scaled resolution, such as 10mp as was the default of prior Huawei flagships, and prevent the upscaling? Thanks
There is no upscaling, there's downscaling.
Main camera provides 50 MP, just devide it by 4 - and you're at 12,5 MP.
So your fears about losses caused by upscaling are quite baseless.
Picture quality is real great, just the Pro mode is close to useless, yet.
Yep, P40P uses 4-in-1 pixel binning to output 12.5MP shots from its 50MP main sensor (50/4=12.5)
I was getting terrible photos versus my previous M30P but after all these firmware updates recently, can safely say it's much better now imo.
ignore post
Gsmarena just published the review on the P40 Pro +. The image from the primary is indeed cropped. Only when users shoot at 50mp or at .85 zoom, you can see the uncropped image. This means that the image is indeed being up-scaled by around 20 percent. I don't understand why they just didn't keep it at 10.5MP to prevent this upscaling. Some Huawei phones allow you to shoot at different MPs, does this phone allowed any other image sizes besides the 12.5mp and 50mp while still maintaining aspect ratio?

^Default 12.5mp images
Shot at .85 zoom which removes the crop.
Thanks so much!
. 85x zoom is not through their ultra wide sensor?

I don't think so, in any case, when you shoot a 1x zoom at 50mp, and then 1x zoom at 12.5mp, the 12.5mp image is still cropped. About 20% of the image is cropped off, that means Huawei is doing some upscaling. I don't care about the image being cropped, the edges of most cellphone cameras are pretty much crap anyways, but I don't think they should upscale it.
