Hello i bought Honor 8 from Greece and the store had in description that the Sar is 0.38. I ask them why every site on the web sais that it has over 1,4 w/kg and they told me that tge European model of Hobor 8 has different sar values that the us model has. Otherwise it won't be legal in Europe. Is that correct???

Sar is different depending on the mobile band you are using

It depends from the connection type and band used.
In my country we have LTE band 7, according to the doc it's just 0.11
Anyway, it's the best to keep the phone as far from your body(especially important organs) as possible.

How do i check what my sar is according to my carrier??
I use Cosmote (Whats up) carrier
The European and US SAR values cannot be compared with each other - the average tissue volume over which the levels are measured are different - Here is an excerpt from Wikipedia
---------------
United States: the FCC requires that phones sold have a SAR level at or below 1.6 watts per kilogram (W/kg) taken over the volume containing a mass of 1 gram of tissue that is absorbing the most signal.
European Union: CENELEC specify SAR limits within the EU, following IEC standards. For mobile phones, and other such hand-held devices, the SAR limit is 2 W/kg averaged over the 10 g of tissue absorbing the most signal (IEC 62209-1).
India: switched from the EU limits to the US limits for mobile handsets in 2012. Unlike the US, India will not rely solely on SAR measurements provided by manufacturers; random compliance tests are done by a government-run Telecommunication Engineering Center (TEC) SAR Laboratory on handsets and 10% of towers. All handsets must have a hands free mode.[4]
SAR values are heavily dependent on the size of the averaging volume. Without information about the averaging volume used, comparisons between different measurements cannot be made. Thus, the European 10-gram ratings should be compared among themselves, and the American 1-gram ratings should only be compared among themselves. To check SAR on your mobile phone, review the documentation provided with the phone, dial *#07# (only works on some models) or visit the manufacturer's website.

I am from Greece too and i want to add another question to the SAR problem.
Ok, we know that lower values of SAR are better than higher values. But what is the effect of the SAR when we don't speek on the mobile, but we play games. When we just hold it on ower belly and scroll down the pages of the web, when we are watching videos on youtube, texting in instant messaging apps, etc. ?

it's kind of ugly to me...it looks like a game console hhaha
According to PDADB.net the 6500 has the qualcomm MSM7200 graphic controller http://www.pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=734&view=1
maybe we can get the graphic drivers from it
uh i wouldn't even take it for free. it's really ugly

Point taken. Maybe the license is for a single model. Can never say with the big corporations. I mentioned this as I saw it on www.pdadb.net that it uses the graphic accelerator provided by Qualcomm.
Looking at how the TomTom software runs,
I can say its a lot more smoother than the TyTN in that infamous youtube video
( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIJWAu6IRe4 )
I'll try and compare my Hermes with the Sedna tonight and get it up on youtube when i get back from work if you guys want.

HAHA. I'm glad I'm not the only one.
its not that ugly! may be a bit bigger than the usual pda...
I had it in my own hands at Cebit in Germany and it's really huge! You can't compare it to a standard-sized modern pda-phone. It's rather a barcode scanner-sized pda and one of the ugliest I ever saw. The technology is nice though.

It all depends on the licensing terms. Its possible that HTC has the rights to install the drivers on a certain number of model because of what they paid. If they paid more for the license, they'd probably be able to get it on one more model.

I'm fairly certain the reason behind the no-drivers thing is actually Broadcom. Their patent (link: http://www.patentstorm.us/patents/6847686.html) over video acceleration in mobile "convergence devices" is the source of an injunction (pdf link: http://www.broadcom.com/docs/press/12-31-07_Permanent_Injunction_Order.pdf ) against Qualcomm. The injunction specifically names the MSM7500 and 7200. Qualcomm would only make the situation worse by releasing software that enables these features when it currently isn't even enabled. Is the P6500 being marketed in the US? If it's not, maybe that's why they're enabling the acceleration in it and not other models.
honestly i dont think it is being offered in the us, the only retailers i have found -- all coorporate btw--- have been from italy and from the u.K (branded to the 0range network i think). I have also heard of it being sold in india aswell.

Hmm, as someone not very familiar with SPB Benchmark software, would anyone mind telling me if having an increase of 400-500 points is a significant improvement or is it in actuality just a small improvement?

I wouldn't say it's significant, but enough for you to take notice. Another thing to be aware is the fact that (i think) the released TG01 has OGLES2.0 software whereas the Leo in beleforte's testing was a OGLES1.1. Once the Leo is released with the final software, I'm sure both of their numbers will be somewhat identical as they run on the same hardware.

Thanks for posting this link chocula81 - I'd been looking everywhere for a review. I guess your Google skills are much better than mine.
I'm seriously tempted by this phone as it's so much cheaper here in the UK than the Omnia II, not to mention the TG01 and the Leo. More importantly, it's available right now too!
I think the lack of short term support is going to make me wait though, especially as it seems to lack a reasonable TouchFlo alternative.
I hope Acer sell a truck load of these at HTC's expense so that the latter has to drop their sim free prices ; )

I see. Thank you very much.
Acer NeoTouch vs. HD2 I can see how there can be a comparison...but after watching both videos the HD2 is far and away the better phone for its lack of windows screens (ugly white screens with text aka SMS page) and its responsiveness. You clearly see the difference between Capacitive and Resistive screens if anything during the slide to unlock sequences. Both phones are running snapdragon and it still seemed like the HD2 was light years ahead in terms of fluidity of the total device. But I will say, for the price the NeoTouch is one helluva device, and if this site backed it, it would be a powerhouse of a device
Expansys usa added 100+ acer f1 to there stock, il be buying one very soon.
Edit: i miss read and also call them, they said they will have 100+ acer f1 in stock in 6 days or more ><, guess il have to wait.

Both phones soooo sweet, but im in South Africa, so those 2 will cost me a small fortune. For instance I bought a 2011 Macbook pro second hand for about R3000 and each of those will cost me close to R5000 and up, not to expensive considering the Galaxy S4's price, but yeah the wife and daughter is in the front of the line each month. lol.

I received my phone in 2 weeks time and good working condition. However, the spec of the phone is not according to what I've placed. The OS is 4.2.1 instead of 4.2.2 (latest) and phone is also not rooted.
After emails, I've a 4.2.2 from their tech-support. Managed to flash this on my phone and also done the rooting process.
For this company, there are good and bad comments on their style of running. I buy from them as I can use paypal for payment. If things turn up bad, I can always ask for a refund.
My Chinese friends are such big buyers that they seems always have the impulsion to buying out any supermarket in any free perimeters, especially for the electronics. ( e.g. lots of them had purchase the latest Nexus phones and send back to their friends in China)
Compare with people in other regions, Chinese consumers are the better enthusiasts on the high-end smartphones. But what interesting me is although Chinese smartphone brands release their high-end smartphones (based on Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC) frequently, yet the Chinese consumers can barely find those smartphones in the market.
For SAMSUNG and SONY Mobile, they had already help Qualcomm to sold 10million Snapdragon 800 globally. GALAXY Note III have sold over 5 million Pcs(not mention other model of SAMSUNG). SONY Mobile had also sold out over 2 million Snapdragon 800 globally with the model of Togari, Honami, and Amami.

This chart demonstrates the shipment of Snapdragon 800 SoC smartphones in China: SAMSUNG has sold more than 700K Pcs GALAXY Note III & SONY Mobile has sold more than 150K Pcs Togari and Honami.
What’s surprised me is Lenovo had purchased more than 300K Pcs Snapdragon 800 SoC but they had never release any smartphones based on this chip. This number is such a big number even them are prepared for their new smartphones (K910), Lenovo had never sold any high-end model over 500K pcs in the past.
lenovo used mtk before but it will catch the steps of samsung and sony in the future

Qualcomm might be pissed off by Xiaomi( their new smartphones will using MTK6589T(Hongmi) and nVIDIA Tegra 4(Xiaomi III), which both are competitors for Qualcomm).
For Qualcomm, it is not a good news that Xiaomi walk close with the Taiwan Chip Supply. However, if they can cooperate with Lenovo in China market, it will definitely help they keep the marketing leader in the Mobile processing chip industry.
Hey guys,
I have few questions about my honor 6's benchmark scores and usability. Would be gr8 if someone can clear my concerns out.
I am running emui 3.0 btw.
I recently ran the gfxbench 3.1 in my honor 6 l04 and found my Manhattan and t rex scores to be Lower than others using honor 6.got 6.8 and 14 in Manhattan and t rex respectively with the power saving mode in normal.and then switched to smart mode and the scores went down to 4.8 and 9.7 in both while others with honor 6 get 8.3 in Manhattan and 17 in t rex. Not sure why this is happening. Device did not seem to heat too much either, temperature was below 39.
The other thing is that I am not able to have more than 18 apps open at a time though my ram usage never touches 2 gigs..I am unable to have more than 18 apps in the task switcher whatsoever. Is this some kind of a restriction with honor 6.
And the device is not rooted.
Any insight on these two situations would be hugely appreciated.I would also like to mention that antutu, browsermark and kraken returned scores similar to others with honor 6..
Thank you.

Guys I also do not have the performance mode under notification panel>shortcuts..

I don't either have the switch in shortcuts area, though it was here before updating to emui 3.0 (ie. on 2.3).
As to your other issues, I have no idea. Maybe you could try it on the 720p mode or something, though that's just a "maybe".
Regarding this 18 tasks issue, I have never gotten myself so far as to have so many of them open at the same time because I'm too much concerned with battery life and I always close all the apps, so can't help much here too.
Update
Just tested it and it indeed doesn't display more than 18 tasks, but it does not kill the ones not shown, so it shouldn't be very troublesome in my opinion.
I read your first post again and noticed you said your antutu and other benchmarks are similar to others. This could probably prove what I said earlier about the 720p mode. The greatest impact it has is on the gpu, so it would make the scores higher for graphics heavy benchmarks, which gfxbench is one of.
Yeah, even I thought of the same with gfxbench. But all the reviews claim to have run it at 1080p.In anandtech review they have scores for 720p as well. I guess it's because we are not able to unlock the gpu core to its full clock at least within gfxbench due to the lack of performance mode. From what I've seen, gfxbench too fails to unlcok the gpu before the benchmark as evident from the difference in scores between smart and normal mode. Can you go as far to run the gfxbench on your piece and give me the scores, just to make sure what I am getting is about the same as others running emui 3.

Sure I can run the benchmark on my device. Just tell me which gfxbench do you use because I can see two of them in the Play store (3 and 3.1)
Thank you,I used 3.1.

Here's what the benchmark looks like on my Honor in 1080p mode and power saving set to "normal" (I think it's the equivalent of "ultra" from emui 2.3):

As you can see, it performs even worse than yours. I've run the benchmark in a tpu case, it could possibly have some tiny impact on the heat dissipation and such.
I think the main reason you're seeing discrepancies between your score and that of others is the version of the benchmark. I don't recall seeing 3.1 back when I was doing such benchmarks for myself so it's got to be sort of new. You've been most probably looking at 3.0 benchmark results which contains quite a bit different benchmarks under the same names, so it can be confusing.
I tried 3.0 as well with no difference. The difference is most probably because of the lack of performance mode in 3.0

Even I got the same scores, I ran the benchmark multiple times and I mentioned the best score I got.
