Youtube 1440p limit on S7 but not on S6 - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Can't understand why a friend of mine in the setting on the same youtube video can choose the resolution till 2160p.
But with mine S7 i can't go over 1440p...
This is very frustrating cause with 360 video the definition under 4K is to low.
There is a way to fix this problem?

Your friends phone s6 is probably rooted with xposed. And considering the resolution of s7 is 2k it makes no sense to play 4k on it anyways. It will be scaled down to 2k

No is not rooted and it make a lot of sense with Virtual Reality compatible 360 degrees video since you are looking to just a portion of a video in 360 mode...

Like I said your 4k video will be downscaled to 2k because this is nor 4k screen. Why not buy a phone with 720p screen and play 4k video on it for VR. Unfortunately that's not how pixels work. Hardware limitations cannot be overcome by software.

You clearly don't how a 360 video work...
If is 4K you are waching just a portion of the full video. So even if 4K the visible part is lower than 1080p
And if the full video is 1440p is way lower than 720p (visible portion on the screen)
So 4K is much better.
Can't understand why some of us can set 2160p on the option and other like me no...

Yes my pixel are 1440p but for a 4K 360 video you actually need less than 1440p cause the portion displayed is way less than the full 4K.
Try a 360 video on YouTube and you understand what i mean...

I also want to support as many devices as possible but the OEM somehow decided that they do not want to put effort in making the new camera API available when upgrading to Lollipop.

Sorry for my late reply. How does it happen as the image size of front camera is larger than rear camera? Have you check the settings in the photo resolution ?
BIG update 2.0:
- Record videos with full manual controls !
- Option to mute shutter/recording sound
- Exposure bracketing (pro)
- A better UI
I checked already.. even in the latest version it's the same file size from front camera is larger

Underclocking LG FLex 2

I am planning to but this phone, meizu pro 5 or the Samsung s5 neo however I have heard a lot about the overheating of this phone.
It seems that the phone will benefit from underclocking the processor to 1.8 or lower. This is because it can be compared to sd808 which have the same A57 (2x) but lower clock speed and it seems the sd808 does not heat up. Furthermore, the A57 is known to be quite powerful so a reduction in the cpu speed should (hopefully) not affect the performance greatly and instead increase the battery life and eliminate the heat.
In summary, if there someone using the phone underclocked, please post your experience here.
Or is there someone willing to try it and post results?
Kernel autitor or 3c tool box can be used to underclock the cpu.
I've not underclock and my experience is really positive... I do not have overeating...

Camera autofocus issue

Hi people... has anybody noticed camera autofocus issue for closure capture? I face this issue not all the time but yes, most of the time. I thought of checking it here just to see if its software issue and many users face it OR its hardware issue with my phone so that i can visit service center.
Pls help. I have attached sample pics for reference. This happens for closer capture of any object.

I have the same issue on 5.0.2. I usually focus on something far away, and then again on something closer in range.
Do you want to capture close things? Because if things are too close, the camera autofocus won't work as there is an autofocus distance technically. What you can try is to put your camera in Pro/Manual mode and try to focus manually

I don't think that even a $5000 DSLR will take a fully focused really close picture. In case of my device it makes noise when using camera which samsung commented "it's a normal thing due to ois on some phones" so I guess I can live with that. Even though they want $300 to replace whole motherboard. When device was on warranty. You can contact samsung but if You have Knox 0x1. Then warranty is gone forever. And even a headphone port replacement will cost You $300 because "samsung knows the best and they are sure that it's the motherboards problem which was caused by Your way of using it".

Not just for mobile even regular DSLR Cameras, because each macro close-up lens has its own focusing distance which vary depending on the lens itself

Nougat screen calibration & camera FW

Hey folks,
I wonder if the Nougat beta comes with the screen calibration options presented in stock nougat. Unfortunately my S7 has a light yellow tint and I'd like to get rid of it.
While comparing two S7 I also noticed that depending on the pre-installed camera FW the front camera shoots sharp or slightly blurry photos. On my research I found out that at the moment there is no method to update the camera FW. Not even with a full wipe and reflash via Odin. So my question is: Does the nougat beta updates the camera FW?
Thanks in advance.
Best regards
All S7 has this terrible ugly yellowish/brownish tint in basic mode...Only in Adaptive mode whites are fine but than all the other colors are crazy oversatured...
I'm at the point i'm going to sell this phone if i can't find a solution...
Can you tell me how to install Nougat? It is already available?
Inviato dal mio SM-G930F utilizzando Tapatalk
I compared two S7 with same preferences and noticed the difference so it isn't a problem regarding the display mode.
I dont't want to seem rude but there are lot of guides how to install nougat here on xda, so please stop misusing this thread for your own purposes.

This app doesn't work really well are really unstable plus they work adding an overlay so they consume a lot of power cause black pixel will never shut off...
A proper way should be to interact with the values directly from the system...
I guess if rooting the phone i can finally find a solution.

the issue with instagram in full screen is that it also crops a lot of content from people who post using the 16:9 and 1:91:1 of the new iphones
this is something instagram needs to address for the android app, i have mine custom set to 16:9 and still some content gets cut off. if i leave it app preference more gets cut off. full screen you have to scroll to see tall content and even then it is still cut off.

I'm using Aeroinsta in combination with Good Lock and it seems to work much better than the default app.
I have found that Instagram stories on full screen doesn't seem to work well as they crop out bits of text from the top or bottom of stories. So until I guess Instagram themselves amend (unlikely given their history) 16:9 is the best way to use Instagram for now
Insta pro work as a charm
