Matterport Scenes - Viewer to view on other Phone without Tango - Lenovo Phab 2 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi,
I could not find a working viewer for viewing on other devices.
Any ideas ?
Also even Matterport's VR app doesn't have any option to import homemade scenes ?

this phone really has very limited users...
nobody is interested in Tango.
Then what's the point of choosing this phone...

Spycam App?

Hi guys!
I´m new to this nice forum.
I´ve got just a few questions.
I would like to have/make a spycam softare to my samsung omnia that have a few functions:
I would like it to be configured to shoot photos in intervalls. I would like it to be configured between, let´s say, from 10 seconds to several minutes between shooting, and also how long the "shooting session" would be.
I would like something similary but for the videorecording mode. For example a video recording that lasts 2 min with a certain resolution.
both should be in stealth mode, that is, it won´t show up on the screen that pictures are taken/movie is recording. It´s just running silent in the background, with no trace at the menu at all, or showing pictures taken or video recording on the screen. Maybee a small icon or something but nothing else.
Not very important:
And I would like to be able to change settings for the "shooting session", forexample white balance, focus settings and so on, just like when I use the ordinary camera application in omnia.
Another question. Is it possible to take a picture without cameraapplication "loaded"? Can a make the camera run in some kind of silent mode (waiting to take a picture) and have a predefined button (like the camerabutton on the right side) taking pictures without showing it on the screen? just storing the taken picture?
Is there a software out there availible to mobile phones, windows mobile 6 or java that does any of this?
And is it possible to make a program like it in java or is there a better language to make it in? What is possible and what is not?
I´m studying computer/eletric engineering, but pretty new at it, so the only programming skills I´ve got at the moment is a small amount of java programming.
very grateful for answers.
(I hope I posted at the right section)

Check out GCstar for the desktop and GCstar Viewer for android (in the market)
Gcstar is a cross platform collections management tool. It imports and exports loads of formats. Works for games and books and whatever it us you collect. Currently the android app is just a viewer. I hope it gets some love as an input device soon...
I use Movie Collector from Collectorz.com
I had the iPhone version of it for a few years and recently switched to the Android version. It has a desktop app that you can scan barcodes into and then the phone app that you can sync your collection to.
You can't scan the barcodes with the phone yet, but they say that they plan to add that feature.

although lacking the scan feature, otherwise this will work great, the fact I can enter the name and it will search all the other details makes it almost as easy as a barcode scanner anyways.
I could use some help figuring out how the csv import feature works... other then that, I thank you much for the input guys

Did you sort out your CSV issues...
I notice that the default separator is a semicolon when I open the importer. If you have a bunch of data in a comma separated file then you should change the semicolon to a comma. Also, you have to make the appropriate adjustments to the "fields to be imported" to let it know what is what.

Notes Mobile update

Hi folks
At the moment to me Notes Mobile does the job but only just.
I can tell you that Notesmobile is being developed. I am in possession of Beta 1.1.9 at the moment.
Please don't ask for a copy of it as it is one of the conditions of me having it.
It's a pretty raw beta , so no pen thickness or colour changing or anything.
Major things that I've noted:
1. There is finally a PEN ONLY palm rejection setting that works a treat.
2. The OCR both automatic and freehand conversion seems to be more accurate and quicker
3. You can import a picture , move it and resize it
4. New lasoo system that works a bit better and a few interface tweaks.
5. On the first page you can set up views, so you can further catagorise your notebooks ( So a Personal view with multiple notebooks, a Work related view with multiple notebooks ).
Things it doesn't fix address that I know are on some peoples wishlists:
1. More export options ( still only text and img )
2. Landscape mode
Don't forget though it is a Beta !!
So a heads up that it is being developed and it is certainly a step ahead of the original release.
They expect to release at CES Las Vegas in January, so it shouldn't be far from coming to us though whether it will be a free or paid upgrade I'm not sure but I've asked my contact though it might not be his area within the business.
Thanks a lot. Is there any way for custom backgrounds, or is that not present yet? Also, when you say release in January, they're going to present the new software of Notesmobile at CES? Never really seen new software at CES but yeah, that still sounds awesome. But yeah, I have to ask, are you involved somewhat with the development or do you just have contacts with one of the persons that's working there?
As I say it's a very raw beta.
1. No custom background, only blank, lined, graph and yellow lined a per the previous version.
2. Yes they intend to launch @ CES January 10th 2012 Las Vegas
3. Nope not involved with the Vision Objects at all. I contacted the guys a while ago around Myscript Stylus and as a consequence got chatting with them. They offered me the beta to get my feedback
Nice to hear that it's still being developed. The whole lack of cummunication felt like they've abandoned this app which really has a lot of potential but is right now quite useless for me.
Let's hope they'll add some more export options until January and also a possibility to back everything up.
This application has the raw goods and with a few [meaningful] tweaks and additional features I could become a daily user...
Thanks for the information on the update. I emailed them about wanting a pen-only mode and they simply responded with a cryptic "thanks for your interest we are constantly working to improve our software" reply that contained no valuable information. I am so glad to hear that they are in fact working on it and have implemented a pen-only mode. Hopefully MyScript Stylus will also get pen-only mode in a future update.
With CES just around the corner, I'll be see what the update is on the update .....
I'll let you all know
Any update to this?
TS

Quill is still better tho. still overly complicated writing notes in it.
It doesn't have OCR, but I've been hunting for a few days, and I'm most impressed with FreeNote. It doesn't seem to pick up on my hand on the screen, ever. It uses tags, classifications/categories for organization. It's definitely not a candied Apple app, so it takes some getting used to (it's intuitive enough but not artificially prettied, nothing hides its complexity, tongue is misspelled, and classifications=categories, more or less). It does some truly amazing stuff. I expect it to sell (out) in about March or April, but I'm just some schmuck user, so....
I'm happy to see that Phatware is in the Android game now. I used WritePad on WinMo3-6, but it looks by the reviews like they're having a terrible time. They'll weather it and raise the bar, I'm sure, and when I'm fed up with XT9, I'll likely buy WritePad if it gets even a few good reviews. They deserve a few snacks for PhatPad. I *still* use it on my HTC Advantage sometimes (animated gifs I draw, easy export, and the 5" screen is perfect for quick notes & doodling).
The XT9 handwriting input is pretty amazing (my handwriting sucks, really). I can't figure out why the Notes Mobile App is so bad at recognizing my same awful handwriting. Very eager to see what happens. The inline OCR is what I've been watching for for, like, 10 years.
There is a note app that I have been using called Lecture Notes... works a lot better than Notes mobile. Developed directly on the Lenovo Thinkpad tablet. It is still really new but he updates the thing about three times a week it seems like.
when using it you can disable the touch interface all together so the palm isn't an issue. There is a trial version on the market.
Still the best app for me
For business I'm using a Lenovo Windows 'tablet' with MS Notes. Honestly, that spoilled me. Comming now to Android seems to step back years in history and development. Never the less, I arranged myself with Notes Mobile and Evernotes. The only big issue I have with notes mobile is the unavailable option to export whole notebooks as pdf or pictures.
Why I think Notes mobile is the best compromise:
- The Lasso (u write something and u realise u need more space, the lasso helps! All the other programs require the eraser and to do all the work again...)
- handwriting recognition, that can be easily combined with sketches and quick note...
Only issue
- pdf export
A work around for no PDF export
I installed Cloud Print on my Android device
I installed EStrongs File Explorer (or you could use the native Dropbox client or Dropsync) on my Android device
I set up a Dropbox account with installation on my PC
I installed Bullzip on my Windows PC
I set Bullzip to automatically save "prints" to a Dropbox folder
Anything you can share via Cloud Print (most things) you can print to a PDF.
It's a traffic-heavy way to do it, so it's ungreen, and could be pricey if you're using a paid & limited data plan.
(I discovered this while testing. If anyone can help me get my Epson RX595 to work with Cloud Print app for Android, obviously Bullzip is fine, as are test pages via Cloud Print from Chrome on my pc, I'd be ever so grateful for a PM).
Could someone do me a huge favor and upload the latest version of the Notes Mobile app? I can't install the latest version of your app store to download it and it doesn't show up in the old version. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Feeling a little silly right now, but how do I get the updated version of Notesmobile?
V1.0.0 came with my TPT.
I created an account in Lenovo app shop, but didn't see anything in the "My apps" section. Tried searching for it in the app shop, but it's not showing up either.
Thanks in advance

Some note applications to use with S-Pen

One of the main reasons for getting this tablet for most would be to make use of the s pen.
This is a short review of the note apps that make use of both handwritten and typed notes.
1. Samsung apps - snote and smemo .. really good apps and lots of editing options... Its default and I am sure every one knows about it
2. I have both lecture notes ( paid) and freenote( donate version ) .
Both are good but I like freenote more as it offers more editing options and easy to make quick notes.
Both devs are very responsive to requests..
3. If you use evernote, it has an association with skitch. Works well but very limited editing options...
4. Onenote - Best note application ever.. Nothing can beat it but in android it not well implemented yet...
In android i use onenote from microsoft and mobilenoter . Both these onenote applications needs more updates.
Onenote from Microsoft app - you will a internet connection all the time to get it working smooth... Offline access is kind of limited. No handwritten notes.
Mobilenoter is expensive but give more options to editing and viewing notes. It was terrible with handwritten notes. With the recent mobilenoter updates ( in the past few weeks) it looks much more promising. Again editing options of individual notes are very limited.
(If you ask me one app that i want in my tablet, it would be a fully working version of onenote)
Unfortunately except for evernote none of them provide a desktop syc for the handwritten notes.. If there was an app that would do this ,
There are plenty of apps out there, like phat note and so on....
please tell us more about what you use and your experience..

Is it possible to take a whole page of notes using handwriting on the Note 10.1 and then convert to text?
May be a dumb question but I'm thinking if I take lots of notes at a meeting then I would like to be able to convert them to a document.

I am exactly in the same boat. In a meeting last week I took 13 pages of notes using S-Note. I can export them to PDF but thats about it. Mobilenoter seems to be the best thing to bet on. But the reviews seem to be very negative. I don't have a problem maintaining a live account with only onenote 2010 notebooks, so if they fix their handwriting issues I'll be a customer!

If you. want to send the notes as text from S-note, use the share via option as opposed to export, however you will not be able to send drawings.
If you want to write in your own handwriting, there is an app called 7notes on Google play that will let you take notes and convert them later into text. The app has really good handwriting recognition too if you want the notes converted on the fly.
Look for Supernote ..its made by Asus and is similar to freenote in that you can handwrite anywhere and moves it to the top. Link...... http://www.everbot.com/files/Asus_Supernote_v_1.4.apk
I also use 7notes. My HW is horrific and it does a great job of converting it. You can use it anywhere, in pretty much any app that uses a keyboard.

S memo has been replaced with S Note, you can bring up the mini app version by clicking the small arrow on your status bar at the bottom to make a quick note.
I will Quill and Papyrus from the market. They both provide vector based pdf output.

Probably not exactly what you are looking for, but i use foldersync lite, with my drop box, to backup and sync my notes. I currently use lecture notes and have the folder with my notes synced every 2 hours.
Just an idea for you.
Did you do the schedule from within LN or using an external app?

Dropsync is the tool I use for autosyncing. Also LectureNotes allows export and import via .pdf, so if you can edit .pdfs you're food. Finally, Lecturenotea can export direct to Evernote.
I haven't seen it mentioned here but I like it more than Lecture Notes - Writepad Stylus works great with S Pen (and I prefer setting the pen in it to be the only input - you can do that in settings).
I quit using WS when Quill came out. I use Quill for vector and LN for all else. The LN dev rocks big dog. Working on keyboard and jpg/png image for background. Really pleased.

+1 on Freenote. I've tried LectureNotes, Quill, AntiPaper, PhatPad, and some others. Freenote offers a lot more flexibility in including ink, typed text, pics, paint, links, tags, "To Do" lists, ink calendar tracking, etc. It is the closest app to OneNote I've found on Android. I think its biggest liabilities are that the GUI is not "sexy" -- it looks clunky-- and that the range of options and tools make it confusing to figure out. Steep learning curve. But if you want to switch instantly between ink/text/images/paint, etc., I don't think it has any competition.
Best Freenote feature: The writing panel for inking. It lets me handwrite in large exaggerated strokes at the bottom of the page, which it inserts as scaled smaller ink in a straight line elsewhere on the page, and which it is smart enough to auto-wrap to the next line at the page margin. 7Notes/Mazec offers a similar feature, but I find it to be a bit more clunky since I have to hit "enter" at the end of each line before it inserts.

I too consider this to be the 'holy grail' of app features, but it is sorely lacking. I found a work-around that lets me ink on my GNote in a Word doc via Polaris, and also ink the same doc on my tablet PC via Dropbox. But to be honest, the "inking" experience I show via Polaris is so limited (very few features beyond changing ink thickness) that I have largely stuck with Freenote.

Trans device inking is a big thing and unfortunately none of the apps support it well..
However, mobilenoter which was a terrible app before, has changed a lot especially with the most recent update.
I brought this app a long time ago and had many issues.
After the most recent update I tried it again and works great..
This is what I do
1. i have folder in my sd card synced with the onenote folder in pc
2. the onenote folder in pc is synced with skydrive
3. i edit and make notes in my android using mobile noter.
4. Now all changes are synced with my pc when i get home
Limitations of mobilenoter now are
1. Mobilenoter syncing option to cloud is still not great... Hence the work around i mentioned above
2. editing options are very limited
Workaround now is to make new notes in freenote and export to mobile noter
The benefit of cloud sync is that I can open the onenotes in another pc ( on a web browser) at work and do changes.
Thanks for the suggestions. I also dream of a robust OneNote app available on Android... Until then, can I clarify a few of your tips?

An healthy discussion on using the front camera in more advanced ways...

Hell frnds,
I was just plain curious when a well known smartphone manufacturer started using the front camera for more than skype n photos. I wondered that my ICS tab has a front camera, a feature called face unlock which uses face features to unlock the device. So what if this camera and some code can be used to add features to the front camera n make it useful. I was also wondering can this data be utilized in other applications, this will open up then environment. Suppore a scroll, its done through touch n drag, our application can send this data to the foreground app i.e a document reader or a browser. The application can spoof it self as an input device in androids input menu. Thus it can do various things by sending appropriate data to apps. Im currently testing on windows using a webcam n some code to track eyeball n do actions through it. If im succesful enough Ill start coding an android app. But a healthy discussion and your views would be appreciated. So I hope ill see some replies. Tkcre.
