Spycam App? - General Questions and Answers

Hi guys!
I´m new to this nice forum.
I´ve got just a few questions.
I would like to have/make a spycam softare to my samsung omnia that have a few functions:
I would like it to be configured to shoot photos in intervalls. I would like it to be configured between, let´s say, from 10 seconds to several minutes between shooting, and also how long the "shooting session" would be.
I would like something similary but for the videorecording mode. For example a video recording that lasts 2 min with a certain resolution.
both should be in stealth mode, that is, it won´t show up on the screen that pictures are taken/movie is recording. It´s just running silent in the background, with no trace at the menu at all, or showing pictures taken or video recording on the screen. Maybee a small icon or something but nothing else.
Not very important:
And I would like to be able to change settings for the "shooting session", forexample white balance, focus settings and so on, just like when I use the ordinary camera application in omnia.
Another question. Is it possible to take a picture without cameraapplication "loaded"? Can a make the camera run in some kind of silent mode (waiting to take a picture) and have a predefined button (like the camerabutton on the right side) taking pictures without showing it on the screen? just storing the taken picture?
Is there a software out there availible to mobile phones, windows mobile 6 or java that does any of this?
And is it possible to make a program like it in java or is there a better language to make it in? What is possible and what is not?
I´m studying computer/eletric engineering, but pretty new at it, so the only programming skills I´ve got at the moment is a small amount of java programming.
very grateful for answers.
(I hope I posted at the right section)

Smartphone/PDA camera to photograph documents

Is there a smartphone or PDA with a camera that would allow photographing of pages of books, or parts of pages? The image needs to be good enough so that once I pull it up on my desktop, I'd be able to run OCR on it. What I really need is a contemporary version of this:
http://www.pimall.com/NAIS/pivintage/minox.html
I played around with a Nokia E90 in macro mode, but ended up getting either fuzzy full-page images or very small parts of the page in focus.
Anybody have any ideas? There must be someone else out there doing exactly this.

the camera on the tilt and i think any phone with auto focus and a enough enough resolution 3MP+ should get u going.
I second the Tilt. Without the cover http://wmpoweruser.com/?p=339. The camera is extremely good.
The issue of lighting and making sure the page is completely flat remains however.

Go to Check My Camera Phone and check the scores. Of the HTC models listed, the X7500 scores the highest. (My personal favorite non-smartphone, the i-mobile 902, has the highest of them all but that's hardly surprising as it contains a real Sony 5 MP CCD camera module.)

Windows PSR.exe ...everyone's new best friend

Hi all, so I have found out about this F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C (yes all caps to emphasize it's fantacticness) called "PSR.exe" found in Vista and Windows 7
PSR.exe stands for "Problem Screen Recorder" and it does more than just that.
To begin:
Start > PSR.exe > Enter ... the show begins
I'm a PC, so I love this feature.
Videos are great, but they seem to always be inconvenient to make and edit, and frequently the video seems to contain many long waiting parts.
with PSR you can start it up, go through activities, and then stop it, and it saves your file as a MHTML file abd really low file size.
There is also more great things about this....
It records your activities and types them up for you
It highlights the area of focus automatically
It can be played as a slideshow
It saves as a zip file
You can still edit the shots and add comments
Now not only is this great for someone to record problems and show you, but the reverseis true...you can record "How To's" much easier and quicker and post guides.
Combine it with the Free Sparus EveryWan Personal edition WinMo Controller/viewer, and you can show someone how to cook, install, etc.etc.etc...
Take a look at this quick example
wow, thats nifty.

[Q] OCR library/class for Android (2.6 or 4.0)

I have managed to create some basic Android apps for myself, and have development expericence, but would like to know if anyone knows of a (preferably free) OCR library/class for Android. I'm thinking 2.6+ but I don't mind if it's 4.0+. At this stage it's just for my own use.
Some background - I have a device which displays and controls the current temperature of my pottery kiln. A picture of it is attached. It displays the current temperature (in red) and set temperature (in green) of the kiln, and turns the kiln on/off via a contactor according to a temperature ramp I set.
What I want to do is to log the temperature of the kiln over the whole firing (8 to 10+ hours or so). I currently do this manually, but it's a pain to go out to the kiln every hour or so, plus the time resolution isn't that great.
I had the idea of doing a time lapse recording on my phone using LapseIt, but I'd have to manually look at each image captured and enter in the temperatures into a list or spreadsheet etc.
So, I'd like to be able to leave my phone (Samsung Galaxy S2) in front of the device, and photograph and OCR the display every 10 minutes or so. This can then be saved to a CSV or similar on the phone for later analysis.
I have the foundations for such an application, in that the graphing, CSV saving/editing, are all in place, but I'm stuck at the OCR point.
Ideally what I'd like to do is to just call an OCR function, and receive text back, e.g. it could return "1022 1080" and then I can easily grab the changing temperature.
I can't find any such library though - this is what I need help with. Does anyone know of suitable library, or at least one that will allow me to OCR the image somehow?
Hope I have explained this clearly,
PbO2

Parallel SBS (side by side) user interface for Android?

Hello everyone,
I'm thinking on a virtual/augmented reality project in which you wear a wielders mask (like this) and an android smartphone attached to its vizor. Because the phones screen is going to be so close to the eyes I need to know if it's possible to change the user interface to side by side parallel format stereoscopic view. That way it will be possible for the eyes to focus to the image onscreen with the aid of convex lenses. It doesn't have to be 3D, i just need a technique to turn what's shown on the screen to side by side parallel format.
Please reply, thanks...

Nice concept. It might turn useful. I guess you want something like this (it's for tablets only) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nqr.splitviewtablet&hl=en
And, mixed with this application (or one of this type) - Transparent screen https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=botweb.transparent.screen&feature=search_result
And a transparent launcher from here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=naveen.Transparent&feature=search_result
could work. It remains to put it all together.
Does anyone know if this is possible? I'm interested with the revival of VR headsets with Google Cardboard.
I would like a simple side by side repeated image in the Android OS launcher. Then I could view PDF documents, edit text documents, browse the web, watch any movie through Google Cardboard's stereoscopic headset. Honestly, I don't even care about the 3D aspect. Just to be able to use the phone as a monitor in conjunction with a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard would be awesome. Although, reading documents while laying down in bed probably wouldn't last long, I'd pass out quick enough!

Please post back if you ever find out! I would pay too! I have a bluetooth keyboard and a mouse ready to go! This would be a real update to the term "virtual desktop" or "virtual workspace."

Is it possible to have pictures simultaneously taken using 4-5 cameras? (not on one device but separate phones or cameras)

I need some help and advice on how to get 4-5 cameras / android smartphones to take pictures roughly at the same time, it doesn't have to be in perfect sync, one-two second difference isn't a problem. I don't need any kind of image calibration like white balance or color temperature etc. only thing I need is for pictures to be in focus and with minimal to low noise. I want to make a simple photobooth that can take pictures of a small product like a Pen or a Keychain or similar sized item from different angles all roughly at the same time.
It doesn't matter if the cameras / phones are controlled over wifi or need to be connected to some computer via USB, I only need to be able to take pictures at the same time as cost effectively as possible, I found some programs that were designed to do similar things but non is available for free or are legacy programs that are long discontinued....
is there any way to make this happen on a tight budget, with some DIY work?
I would greatly appreciate it if any of you could give me some advice.
Maybe you will have to develop a simple app which can take pictures at the same time you have set.
