I have gotten the Mate 9 like 3 weeks ago in Singapore which is the C636 model.
It was available SINCE 19th November 2016 but...... :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying:
currently still on B110 while other models are getting their updates.
I am wondering if the C636 model would jump straight to B13X update or we would be receiving B12X update??
It sucks to have to wait much much longer for the update if we would to be receiving the B12X update as compared to other models
Seems like us, C636 users would have to wait till next year :crying: :crying:
PS:
I would like to know whether the HiSuite software searches for Huawei's server directly for updates, or does it request for updates from the Telco?? (I bought it from Telco SingTel, but using Telco M1's SIM Card)
Not sure whether that would mean not being able to receive updates?
Also, I would like to ask those who root their mate 9: what do you guys do after rooting the mate 9?
Stand-by battery drain is around 0.7%/hour for me, which is quite bad because it was on Airplane mode and i disabled a lot of Apps and used Greenify to kill apps.... My Galaxy S5 had a much better stand-by drain which is like 1% battery consumption for the whole night..
Performance wise, I see some animation stutters, when open app folder and returning to home screen. I set animation speed to 0.5x.
I did provide Huawei with feedbacks, but its been 2 days and I didn't hear anything from them
Firmware update problem
I am using Huawei Mate 9 here in Afghanistan since Dec 15,2016, but I haven't received any updates yet.
Its built no is still MHA-L29C185B110
And Android security patch is October 1, 2016.
Can anyone help me please with this?
Singapore sets have not received the OTA, asked Huawei SG about it but no reply from them.
Really slow with the update.
I having C636 in Malaysia. I have since received update to B136. Maybe yours is tied to telco.
I brought Mate 9 during my trip to Singapore, and not yet received any OTA update ! So disappointed !
Mine is also C636 in Taiwan.
Still waiting for update as well.
You can use FunkyHuawei to get the update now. Please see the thread. The update for MHA-L29C185 is B126, and for C636 it's B136
Am I still able to receive OTA normally after using funkyhuawei?
I have MHA-L29C636, Singapore, still stuck with B110 after one month. Ironically, my neighbouring country, Malaysia, had B136 days ago.
Many SG users found out we can use Malaysia sim card to activate the OTA update and sure enough, B136 OTA instantly after the SIM card is initiated.
BTW, I use HongKong CSL(telco) SIM card and it worked too.

I'm not sure how that would be, actually. When the phone makes a request to Huawei's server for an OTA update, it doesn't seem to include any information about the SIM card, unless it's somehow mixed in with the IMEI info.

I have no idea why, all I did was replaced the SG SIM card with HK SIM to the same slot, so IMEI should be the same except the SIM card.
Also, the prepaid HK SIM card is low on credit and roaming data was disable, data connection was thru WiFi only.

Interesting. I thought it was based on only IMEI, but they might be mixing sim card data into it too. The IMEI parameter that is sent to huawei's server for OTA requests is encrypted, so I can't be sure what is included with the information. Anyone who doesn't get the updates can use FunkyHuawei to install the latest version. As long as it is the correct version for their model, it will work.

Does FunkyHuawei act as a normal OTA and update the device normally? Or would it wipe? From C636B110 to C636B136.
My wife just upgraded her mate 9 via OTA several days ago.

You could perhaps use your computer as a wifi router/hotspot and change the DNS there, but otherwise, I'd recommend buying a cheap wifi router.

I decided to bite the bullet and did exactly that then flashed from C636B110 to C636B136. Luckily my data is not wiped.
The file is 2.5 GB and it took around 1 hour to download in eRecovery even though I'm in the "priority" stream. No idea how long it will take if you were to use the free transaction ID.
I would recommend those who also want to do this to just make a small donation(or even more) to save your time though.
The phone did lagged quite a bit initially after the update. But it flies after awhile. Hope I don't have to factory reset it.
i did software update via funkyhuawei and it worked perfectly fine to get me to c636b136....then i just woke up to see an ota update at 1.75gb with system improvements/patches to include 6x zoom.....this is probably the ota official stable firmware...i was probably on the official beta version....will update build/version info once it installs...

I think you need to revert your DNS back to default address, as FunkyHuawei DNS will make the phone detect the OTA in funkyhuawei's server.

Hi, I've got a Z3 dual D6633 which I want to use with an EE SIM in the UK. I've tried a cut down microsim and been into the EE shop and tried one of their nano SIMs but both don't work correctly in the phone.
The cut down SIM makes a service phone.android.com or something like that continually crash and doesn't connect to the network.
The one I tried in the shop just doesn't connect to the network.
This is on 23.0.F.1.74 and .82 I noticed in the release notes for .82a fix for Yoga SIMs in Russia but don't know what the problem there was, but wonder if it is linked. All other UK Sims work including 3, Lyca, giffgaff, Vodafone, virgin just not EE. has anyone got an EE one working or had similar problems?
I did notice that an app/widget I use called phono to show network info and signal strength usually shows the IMEI when no SIM inserted or the MSISDN, however with the non-working EE SIM it just shows 00000 - not sure which field it is getting wrong. Oh and yes the SIMs work fine in all other phones I've tried.
I do need to try more tests on factory reset and removing phono etc but so far it looks to be a firmware incompatibility with EE Sims.
OK, so I did a few more tests and got hold of another nano SIM on EE.
So it looks like the 23.0.F.1.74 firmware does not like EE SIMs and the phone application constantly crashes. On the later .82 firmware it works fine. I was mislead a bit by going into an EE store and trying a SIM - they must have given me an un-provisioned SIM to try. I stupidly assumed they would have actually given me a SIM that worked, doh!
I'm experiencing something similar here. I have the D6633, bought in UK, now I am in Brazil and the phone works great except that it won't connect to the 4G/3G/2G/LTE network. I can make calls, send sms normal. But internet only over wi-fi.
I called my operator, they say the phone is configured correctly, I tried my brother's sim card from another operator and the same happens.
So, the phone is clearly unlocked, if not it wouldn't recognize the sim cards at all. But no connection to the internet...
Any suggestions? I already did four factory resets, I recovered the Rom using sony software...

Hello, I have the exact same problem. How did you get the firmware .82/for what country? Is everything working well with it? Really appreciate your guidance.
I had the same problem with the EE sim card, ended up sending the phone back.

Just a thought, but is it definitely a 6633 and not some other variant which perhaps doesn't work in your country/network?

I purchased my D6633 from Saudi Arabia and the 23.0.F.1.82 update came as an OTA notification about a week ago.
If you look in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/general/d6633-z3-dual-updated-to-23-0-f-1-82-t2929352/ it mentions that someone thinks the update has only been released for Saudi and Brazil - I assume it is for Europe as well as one of the release notes says a problem with Russian Yota SIMs has been fixed. I think there are also links to the firmware in there although I've not looked that hard as I got the OTA. I guess it might still in my memory - anyone know where Sony stick their OTAs?
Seems to work fine so far - no noticeable difference - well other than EE SIMs now work!

Ah, shame as it looks like the update might have fixed it. I was thinking I might have to go to another handset too (The Samsung G900FD is OK if you can put up with touchwiz and other Samsung "features"!!)

Hmmm, sounds like another issue as with mine the EE SIM caused the phone.apk to constantly crash/restart.
Did the data work OK in the UK?
As you can make calls/SMS I assume you are at least on a 2G network which should still give you (very slooow) data - It does sound more like an APN issue - or something else. I know you said you checked with your operator what their APN settings should be (just my experience with operator customer support lines) - but I would try and have a look yourself - and maybe list your APN settings and operator and someone may spot something.
I have seen a couple of phones / operators where the "APN type" in the APN settings needs specific settings - its down the bottom and often isn't mentioned when people get the settings. For example in my current settings I have "default, hipri, dun, supl" for Virgin mobile in the UK.
You may want to search XDA/Google or start your own thread which might get more reads/replies

For mine, on my networks here in Australia, I can assign 4G LTE to any sim, however, that makes the other sim 2G only (GSM).
The other option is to have both at 3G (WCDMA/HSPA).
If you assign 4g to sim one that work only for 4g or like other phones "LTE(preference)/WCDMA/GSM"
4g not available automatically search 3G if 3G not available automatically search 2G?
Assume second sim is on 2g

Yes, your 4G sim slot will fall back onto 3G and 2G as per expected for most handsets.

Does anyone know if i need to update any settings or firmware from factory to make it compatible. I can see iinet and truphone lte networks (which i assume is the optus 4g network) when searching manually but the phone wont connect. Sims work in a mates iphone6 without a problem.
Don't suppose anyone knows how to get rid of the #sim card icon on the statusbar?

Have you managed to root it? I rooted the 23.0.1.f.0.96 firmware for my Z3 D6633, but after a while (half a day) it starts to reboot frequently, and Google Play stops working (can browse apps, but not download them, as the download bar never progresses).
Also, my EE sim seems to work, but the phone still shows it as 'Sim 1 0000000' whereas other sims simply appear as sim 1 and sim 2.
I am wondering if I should just downgrade back to 23.0.F.1.74 and move from EE to Vodafone or 3...
Ah, work forced a BlackBerry (yuck!) on me and I've since sold the D6633.

Well, as far as I know there is no hope...
I am in the same situation.
I wanted to have the chrome unlocked version, exclusive to Carphone Warehouse in the UK, so I got mine from CW.
I had many chat with EE and they say that most modern / recent phones support WiFi calling out of the box BUT not the XZP... It has to be purchased "direct" from EE so that it has the firmware that enables WiFi calling...
I asked to Sony support Why they don't include WiFi calling settings in their firmware, as Samsung, Apple, HTC, Huawei, Microsoft,... Do? . They simply replied that this is not their responsibility but the one of the operator... I, don't care!
So, the choice is simple :
XZP unlocked in chrome and no WiFi calling or EEocked black phone with WiFi calling...
I have 28 days return with CW... But will stick with the unlock one. Perhaps in the futur I will flash the EE Firmware, but for now, I don't use WiFi calling enough for that...
With some hope, but unlikely, maybe Sony will include the WiFi setting in their future firmware (if enough people ask for it?)
You dont need to buy direct from EE. It is enough if you just flash the EE version of the image on it https://xpericheck.com/cda/1308-6282
Check around in the forums how the flashing can be done.

Indeed, I could flash an EE firmware, but not sure how to troubleshoot if things go wrong !!! hence I will wait a bit longer for that... (and waiting for the ROM to be widely available.)..
My XZP is from O2. Ive got it unlocked and both O2 and EE wifi calling working. My operator is EE but it was cheaper to buy it from O2.

I would like to try this. But my phone is already setup and without root I can't use my trusty Titanium Backup to backup and restore all my apps and settings. A couple of questions I hope you have time to answer:
1. What flash tool did you use to install this? I found the firmware with Xperifirm, but it doesn't look like flashtool-0.9.23.1 is compatible with our phone yet.
2. Did this wipe your phone?
3. Does this firmware come with any EE branding or bloatware?
Thank you for your time.

What are the differences between the EE and Customised UK firmware?
Do you have a EE splash screen when starting and any EE bloatware / limitation?
I am also on a carphone warehouse phone and wondering if I should flash the EE firmware to get the Wifi calling ( I have it enabled on my EE account already and was used to use it in the past on a different phone)...
Thanks.
Tony.
Customized UK loads "telefonica_UK" configuration for any SIM inserted, which means no VoWIFI(wifi calling) or VoLTE. You definately need operator based firmware flashed to get Wifi calling and/or Volte.
No difference at all. My EE app is preloaded I think. That's it.

I can confirm this. The only differences that I noticed was the myEE app. And outlook security instead of avast security. I can't find the wifi calling setting in the EE rom though. My provider is supposed to support it, but I don't see any settings in the rom to enable it.
Edit: I checked with my providers app. It shows that wi-fi calling is not supported on my device. I'll try the O2 firmware to see if that works.
Edit2: Actually, I see the O2 firmware is still on the July security update. Security is more important to me than wi-fi calling. So I guess I'll just keep running the EE firmware.

Hi Rob,
Thank you for taking the time to respond. I'm not on EE or O2. But my provider started to offer wifi calling on some phone models. Even if not purchased from them. For example the Samsung Galaxy S7 has it built in. But they don't support the Sony by default because it doesn't come with wifi calling built-in. So I thought it might show up with the EE or O2 firmware. But it didn't. I just need to go to my providers service point and ask them to force enable it for my phone to see if it works.

I'm with the provider Partner (used to be Orange) in Israel. Unfortunately they don't carry the Sony Xperia XZ premium phone. So no official support. The generic Israeli firmware does not have wifi calling in the firmware.
Quick Question
Sorry to jump on a slightly old thread...
I bought a Sony Xperia Z3 Compact for my other half. Brand new from EBay, unlocked, but doesnt have the Wi-fi calling feature, so from what I could find on a forum on EE it seems the Z5 compact has Wi-fi calling (the forum is giving instructions on how to turn it on specifically for teh Z5 and Z5 compact)
Only, reaeding this forum about phones having to be bought from the carrier to use the Wi-fi calling, I am now wondering am I going to be wasting my time buying a refurbed Z5 off Ebay, unless its locked to EE?
Thank you for any help!!
Gemma
P.S. I am the sort of girl capable of flashing, however i'd prefer not to have to do this, because I don't like interfering if I dont really need to

You might get more help by posting in the Z3 Compact or the Z5 Compact forums.
The way it works on the XZP/XZ1/XZ1c is via a set of settings overlays that are in the OEM partition.
Sony puts out different firmware for different carriers and the carrier specific items (like VoWiFI and VoLTE) are contained in the OEM partition contents of that carrier specific firmware.
If the Z5/Z5c work the same way, you should be able to get any E6653 (Z5) or E5823 (Z5c) model phone and download the EE customized firmware with XperiFirm and flash it to the phone. It should be the same as having bought the phone directly from EE with the same features and bloatware.
Again though, I don't have the Z3/5/c series and haven't dug into the firmware images, so you should check in with the people in the forums I've listed above.
Just received my S9+ 256GB Korean Variant SM-G965N. This is going to be my experience with this particular variant and its compatibility with the T-Mobile network. Currently it shows I'm connected to Band 2 LTE but the speeds I'm my area are very slow. Withing the next couple days I'm am going to test the network throughout my area in Cali and test speeds and connectivity and report back. Unfortunately the build of Samsung pay is customized for S.korea only and not compatible here in the US.
Current build after first update is G965NKOU1ARC7
Baseband versions G965NKOU1ARC4
I have some data speeds this afternoon while out driving. The long screenshot is from my G965 and the short list of from a T-Mobile variant S7 . Connection to the network itself has been stable with no notice of dead spots or issues switching towers, if anything I'd say the switch is faster from what I've notice between devices.
Excellent...a lot of us have been waiting for this...thanks for testing...
I was curious about this. I have a G965U1(S9+ Unlocked North America variant).
I have a second phone with Ting GSM(T-Mobile), and I tried a few speed test. The phone configured it self to send calls over wifi when ever I connect to wifi. I found that peering with Sprint appears to be an issue.

Hey guys,
I also got an international S9+ (SM-G965F) but from Germany Unlocked (DBT). So far the signal seems to be great. Will post some Speedtests later. The only downside is that wifi calling and VoLTE is not there. It was working with my German sim. Other than that it's been great.

Have you flashed T-Mobile CSC? I assume you have to root and make a custom zip to flash the files. If the phone thinks it's a legitimate T-Mobile phone then it give you full speeds.
Also is the Korean phone a duos? Dual SIM?

I dont think that is possible. Isn't the Korean version run on Exynos? Flashing a Snapdragon CSC for TMB would be wonderful but I think would mess lots of thinks up. Hopefully someone will be able to change the CSC to work on the exynos processor.
Okay so the weirdest thing happened to me. I tried to use Samsung pay a few days ago. I used app cloner to copy the working version of my note 8 snapdragon and sent it to my S9+. It didn't work and gave me the connection error. Now I was just on the phone and out of boredom I tried to open Samsung pay again while on the phone and it magically worked. It asked me for my Iris and fingerprint and I was able to add my cards again. Again, this is on exynos DBT from Germany without any modifications or OEM unlock.
Hope this will help at least with Samsung pay.

Yes am looking into seeing how I can configure the CSC to achieve full T-Mobile speeds. The Korean variant in not a duos.

I have a friend that works at Sammy S. Korea that picked it up for me, as for Samsung pay the apk is specifically built for the Korean market and has a different activation process which requires a text from one of the local carrier networks which I cant bypass.

The build is completely different and won't work because of the region and coding in this software build. I am not ready to root yet so I'm going to tinker with software that's official and see what I can get working, improve on for now.

What operator do you use, I am at T-Mobile with a 695F and it does not connect at 4G.
Anyone has a clue?

Not really. I'm also on T-Mobile USA and have the German exynos. The apn settings were loaded correctly. Maybe check them in the settings and make sure it's set correctly. The only thing that is not working is VoLTE and wifi calling.
Samsung pay finally works with the credit cards but the membership doesn't work.

ow did you do the initial setup with or without the T-Mobile sim inserted ? I noticed when I originally set my Korean variant up without the sim, for some reason I did not connect to LTE in my area and after oem unlock and restart/ full wipe it connected perfectly since.
I've got the same model, I'm with ATT, speed test shows 31m down and 10m up, but actual downland from play store is less than 2m...
Hi do you receive benefits in your samsung members app?
Yes if we can get T-Mobile CSC settings to enable VoLTE and Wifi calling then I will root.
I am recently realizing Samsung Pay is not everything it's cracked up to be. It doesn't seem like they have many 3rd party companies registered, so I made a custom loyalty with the barcode, but it doesn't work when it's scanned at checkout. Funnily enough, I have the loyalty in GPay as well, and it works just fine. Also SPay doesn't seem to work in gas station cc readers where you stick the card in and pull it out instead of swipe. Unfortunately it just doesn't seem like the technology is there yet where we can ditch traditional cards.

@clockedtouch, a few months later now, are you still on the 965F & TMo US? Any update wrt VoLTE?
EDIT: nm, thanks to @TEKHD N8/S8x/S9x OREO USA T-Mobile EFS-CSC DETONATOR v2.2 INT TEKHD
Finally, the Canadians axon mini owners are having a security OTA update . Security update now at February 5 2018 but we're still on 6.0.1 , B2017G_Bell V1.0.0B08. No joy for 7.0.1 but at least it's more secured. For the low price that I've paid for it, I can't complain ( $110 Canadian $ , about $90 US) :good:
I have an idea, I'll let you guys know how it goes. I'm going to replace the updater-script in the US firmware zip file with a modified one to force it to flash. Has anyone tried this yet?

Hahaha unfortunately it did not work. Buttttttt, I found a potential way to at least root and maybe (would need dev help for this one) even unlock the bootloader when I was fooling around. I'm messing around with it currently.
I've learned to just deal with it. Phone is super reliable.
This is why I will NEVER buy or connect with Bell .They really don't care at all about their customers .
Hi !
Try to OTA update b2017g_bellv1.0.0b08 a couples of times (past 2 weeks) and i always get :
Please check your network connection
After that polite request to check, my network connection is ok. Does this means the end of updates for the mini with Ma Bell (Not that my hopes were high on that) or something else ...
I'm in Canada, but I have the US version of this phone. Lately, when I check for updates I get "Network unavailable" when I'm on WiFi (I don't have mobile data). I think the message is referring to the ZTE network, not the local network. I was able to update to nougat back in February. I think the problem is with ZTE not Bell. Are people in the US getting the same message?
Worst Phone ever

I am also getting Network unavailable, on the same build of a Canadian Axon Mini, the phone is worthless junk, crashes on calls, when it does manage to make a call you cant hang up, cant answer calls, app crashes and goes black screen tried 4 different dialers,, cant add an attachment it says added and just disappears, have more than one app open it crashes, keyboard freezes ive tried 6 different keyboards, if i try to dial my home number in contacts, it calls my voicemail, if i try and dial a pin number say for voicemail or online banking, I get one continuous tone not 4 so it says pin it incorrect, done 5 factory reset, ZTE are useless and dont want to know, The phone is the worst ever, its going under the front wheels of an F150, never again will I get a ZTE
For whatever reason, no matter what custom rom I flash on my LE2115, they don't detect my sim card. Is there anyone that may have solved this issue?

I'm in the same boat with mine. It's with the OTA Android 12 updates though. I can't get it to pick up my sim. I was LE2115 then I had to rollback to Android 11 and now my phone sys it's LE2117. Don't know the difference but also I don't have an option for 5G in my settings. I'm on Verizon network. I think that might be my issue of the sim not showing up. WBU? What network are you on?

I'm on Verizon. Turned out a few more factory resets and a couple more Rom reinstalls, it fixed itself. My phone says it's a le2113, even though it's a 2115. May be a Rom issue
I keep getting that as well , Its only taken me a few times putting it in and out and just a reboot. That's only on oos 11 tho every time I flash 12 my touchscreen just flat out does not work and I have to use a keyboard and mouse.
And well now I am right there no sim ;D
I keep trying the updates the latest I think C40 was the same issue for me. No data connection. This sucks. A flagship phone but you can't use flagship features. I don't even ham an option in my setting to use 5G when it's in the name OnePlus 9 5G. I loved my OnePlus 8T but I might be heading back over to Google and try out the Pixel 6 if this issue can't be resolved soon.
