Motorola Moto X Style running Android 7.1.1 Nougat spotted on GFXBench - X Style (Pure) General

Great news... It's getting closer. But, to be honest, I'll probably not touch it until xposed is ready for Nougat anyway.

Blasphemy!! Haha naw but man I could really use some nougat right now. I got my pops and nephew into nexus based on timely updates and I bought this phone thinking it's a under rated nexus based moto phone but wow ..Patience is virtue

plaese moto add camera api2 plaeseee

If it means I can stop using these inept custom roms in order to get my 7.1.1 fix, bring it on.

..

Yesss! I ordered a pixel XL from Verizon for the $20 a month deal but if 7.1.1 is true then I'm cancelling it. I prefer my Moto x over it I just can't stand 6.0 and while the AICP and CyanogenMod gets me by the are still too buggy for me.

For starters, I bought this phone because Motorola was quick on their updates at one time. I had a Nexus 6 that has gone from lollipop to marshmallow, and now nougat. I realize this isn't a Nexus device, however, we are still stuck with 6.0 on a may security update. Having used nougat I hate going backwards. There are devices that are older than this one that have 6.0.1. 6.0 was just too buggy IMO. I also find battery life much better when I was using custom 6.0.1 and nougat.

Try dirty unicorns. Official nougat is out and I'm using it and the only bug I've found that is a little annoying is you can't change the call volume. Oh and the camera doesn't come up 25% of the time. But closing the app and bringing it back up makes it work again. It's the most stable release of nougat so far. I recommend you try it out. Just go to they're site.

I get around 4 hours scrolling through Google plus and such. Casual use pretty much. Use the camera a lil bit. The thing is the kernel is great, you can slightly under lock the CPU too, it's something you should check out and change to your standards. It's very smooth and I don't have any problems with it, it's my DD, but a good tip for battery life is to checkout this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/nex...dvanced-interactive-governor-t3269557/page600 use EX kernel manager to change profiles and such. This is a way to get slightly better battery life and even better performance, but that's honestly up to you. The stock kernel settings work fine but if you just change the minimum frequency for the big cluster and little cluster to 302 you should also get a very slight boost to standby time which is always a good thing. I'll be here to help with kernel changes since I mess with it all the time to get the best screen on time. Which is just under 5 hours before.

[Q] CM11 vs. 4.4.2 stock?

I just bought a Nexus 5 and I was wondering which is better: CM11 nightlies or just having rooted stock FW ..
Which one is faster? (bootup time, app launch times, smoothness)
And am I really missing any features when staying stock?
This http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46344624
It's really up to you to decide which is better. Cm will probably have more bugs than stock but maybe they're ok for you

I prefer stock because of the difficulty of porting the Google Dialer with Caller ID by Google

I flashed just about everything and settled on stock. cm11, purity ROM, sanity, slim, you name it. Stock with xposed is great. On any custom ROM, I lost LTE and still don't know why. Gravitybox is just about the same as running a custom ROM, too.

I dont see much of a point in owning a nexus if you are just gonna throw Cyanogenmod on it.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
I would probably stick with stock if I didn't require voice+ app by cyanogenmod. Until hangouts come with full Google voice number support sticking with CM11.
CM11 really isn't that buggy with current nightly, it's incredibly stable. Also the fact that it's a continuous work in progress is plus. You never know when stock gets updates.
Other than that I would use paranoid android when that comes out or pacman.

Or like any other Android phone. Almost every major Android phone has Cyanogenmod ported to it. I don't personally understand the appeal of buying a Nexus phone to then throw on the same custom rom that you could run on literally any other Android phone. I guess if you are off contract and absolutely love Cyanogenmod for some insane reason. . . . .
As said on a non nexus the cyanogen team really shine, to be honest I'm loving cataclysm ROM at the minute. Close to stock but has just enough customisations for me

I will never use CM again, and will stay away from CM variants if at all possible.
You're talking about 2-3 days here. If that worried about it, go back to stock until CM updates. That's what I did for 4.4.3. I was already in bootloader flashing the new modem, so figured I'd just flash the rest.

I'm looking for a ROM & Kernel...

I know these types of threads aren't exactly condoned, but I have a trip tomorrow and I can't exactly try out a lot ROMs right now. I'm currently running Paranoid Android, and while I love it, I'm looking for the following features-
-ART compatible (I know a lot of CM based ROMs had this broken recently)
-Lockscreen notifications (not Peek or Active Notifications, something like Carbon/Mahdi's)
-Orderable Quicksettings
-Battery icon with percent (portrait battery icon, just like stock, with the battery percent
-Stock looking. Holo White versions are perfectly ok as well
Anyone know of a ROM that has these features?
1) you're right, these threads compare the work of developers and as such are against forum rules.
2) if there is one piece of advice I could give you, it's do not change ANYTHING right before a trip!

That's just the thing- I don't really have any stable go-to ROMs with that feature set in mind. Pretty much all I've used is Carbon/Paranoid, and I really missed ART on Carbon, while I missed lockscreen notifications on Paranoid. I was wondering if there were any other ROMs I could quickly try had the feature set.

I'm pretty sure PACman ROM has all of those features too.
I just decided to live without lockscreen notifs and use Paranoid for tomorrow haha. Thank you all!
Mods: please lock/close thread
Any comparison of ROMs is going to get this thread closed, but if you're looking for the basic functionality of GravityBox but with ART, Cataclysm would probably suffice. That being said I wouldn't flash a new ROM right before going on a trip.

Mate 7 was released October 2014. Five Months to go for it's first birthday. Go get an HTC or a Sony. LOL
LOL
Well this beta will the first EVIDENCE of the existance of Lollipop for Mate 7...
oh my god this frustrating just release it now please.. I am desperate for some performance increase and better GUI speed...
It gets more and more frustrated, the frustrating has been freezed earlier cause I have been amazed by the big screen experience and good screen, but now when I am used to it I am more frustrated with the slow performance and multi tasking.. I know most people will not notice it but if you work fast and switch between apps fast constantly you get frustrated... Lollipop hopefully improve some things.
The people who do not demand better speed they just use their phone slow, and do not notice the lag.. the lag is for me noticeable.
I assume you already tried changing the power saving mode, considering the default one isn't optimized for performance...
Also lowering the animation scale in the developer options.
Hi guys,
I trust Huawei are sure that by May the new firmware release LP.

Mi 4C is it worth it?

Hello all,
I hope your devices are treating you well.
I currently have a Nexus 4, which the support for is slowly dying. Therefore, I need to buy a new well supported phone.
First off, I really like the Mi 4C. However, I fear that it will become obsolete and follow the N4's fate really soon. Is that true?
Second, when I got the N4, I realized that there were some issues that people didn't speak much about such as noise while in phonecalls because of the proximity sensor and some headset buttons not working. Are there any similar - or untold - problems like that?
Finally, some rumors are popping out about the Mi5, do you think its worth the wait?
Any and all answers are appreciated. Thank you.
IMO if you really like vanilla android, fast updates and vast amount of custom ROMs, you will probably gonna miss that on Xiaomi's phone
My last phone was Moto G first gen and my first impression after moving to Xiaomi (MIUI) is that some features from vanilla android are missing on MIUI. I really missed that on the first couple of weeks but I learn to live without that for a few more weeks, had enough and switched to CM12 ROMs
Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with the hardware. It's just I didn't really like MIUI
I think you should try MIUI first to see if you like it or not and you can always use custom ROMs if you want.

Little things like expanding notifications on the lock screen without pulling notification drawer, task switcher design, inconsistent notification color and overall UI experience is less polished than vanilla android.
It looks like a minor thing but once it's gone I really missed that.
Well MIUI isn't so bad, just a bit different and needs time to get used to. The device seems the best 5' vfm right now. Upon release of kernel sources I'm sure it will get proper dev support too.
Thanks for all your answers.
The way I understand it now is that the device doesn't have proper dev support due to the lack of an open source kernel. Was the release of this kernel a rumor or was it confirmed?
Also, can you guys please answer me about the wait for Mi 5 and the device's hardware issues?
Thanks again

4c is probably the best bang for buck phone you can get now, great specs incl ir blaster, great camera, loud speaker although mono. Only thing keeping it back is kernel sources but that hasn't stopped 2 different cm roms coming on it.
I also came from a Nexus 4 and this is a great upgrade and I expect it have support for 3 years at least.
Mi5 will be great phone with flagship specs so at least wait for the official reveal and prices. If I were in your position I'd probably lean towards the mi5
I just got this Mi-4c a few days ago from a friend. Honestly, I love MIUI. I used to have a ROM with it on my old Motorola Triumph from Virgin Mobile. I think it's amazing with the themes. Pair in different fonts and live wallpapers and I'm in love.
I currently use an iPhone 6s as my primary, have a Note 3 for media, a BlackBerry Z10 just because and a Lumia 640 for the same reason.
I can't wait until my official smart wallet case from Xiaomi comes! I love technology... ^.^

Yes, it is a pretty neat phone. I actually like MIUI, more than I thought. But it bugs me, that I can't set the DPI. That's actually the only thin preventing me from using MIUI. Also, I can't seem to be able to download Theme or anything from the MI Store.
Did you check if you had any malware installed when you got it? Mine was infected when I got it. I just bought one for my significant other, got it today, and found out that it too was infected, had TWRP installed and Xiaomi.eu as ROM. :silly:

Did you check if you had any malware installed when you got it? Mine was infected when I got it. I just bought one for my significant other, got it today, and found out that it too was infected, had TWRP installed and Xiaomi.eu as ROM. :silly:

Why can't you download themes? I use a third party to buy the Mi credits.
I don't see any malware. I could be wrong though, anything I should be looking for?
Thanks!

You can manually chnange the DPI:
1) Install a terminal emulator
2) Type in "su" and grant Superuser rights
3) Type in "wm density YOURDPI"
4) Reboot.
Just replace YOURDPI with the dpi you want, for example 380.
Horizontal multi-multitasking they way they do it sux. Just give me lollipop carousel and MIUI is everything iOS should be but never will be.

Any roms being worked on?

Are there any roms being worked on? The XL has two so far. Hoping we get some.
They have two now? Wow I only saw the Lineage one, good to hear.
I'm wondering this as well, I imagine it shouldn't be that hard to port them over to our Walleye should anyone want to. After all, aren't they basically the same phone besides the bigger battery and different screen?
Anyway it's still early days yet, we just have to be patient.

Yup theres LOS and AOSP so far. Carbon and ABC are being worked on, also think DU, OMNI, AICP and SLIM but not 100% sure. After spending so much on a phone seeing development is a relief. The phone is amazing stock, but coming from N6 I do miss flashing a bit. Havent used the N6 since dec 5 but I still download all latest rom updates + TWRP etc. for the N6 to keep backed up for the future.
I'm impatiently waiting for the Carbon Ron. I had it on my HTC m8 and genuinely miss it.

I would be happy with anything at this point. I'm just shocked there isn't something at this point.
I haven't heard anything about any roms.
Looks like the XL now has 3 roms.
I know thats awesome just hope there will be a maintainer for them for the regular Pixel 2

Me too.
According to the maintainer of taimen for LineageOs there will be a mantainer. That's what he said in the post. But it's up to the maintainer to provide unofficial/test builds for us. .
does flashing a custom rom on a Pixel effect the camera picture quality like it does on Oneplus Phones?

I never had that issue with the Nexus phones. I would assume the same for this. It was one reason I purchased this phone over the 5T.
I'm glad that there are some ROMS being worked on. I really REALLY miss hold-back-to-kill and music controls with the volume rocker. Would be EXTREMELY helpful to have status bar brightness control as well. Pulling down the shade every time I want to change the brightness is pretty tedious.

If passing safety net is not an issue for you, the Xposed module GravityBox for Oreo is now ready. I believe this has all of the features that you are looking for.
Thanks
Thanks, this will work for now. Status bar brightness is a little glitchy in landscape, but other than that this it's perfect shin while I wait for an actual ROM.
