A while back, I tried to root my Z3, starting by flashing D6653_23.0.A.2.93 firmware, but whenever it tries to boot it gives an error message that the process android.process.acore has stopped, as well as contacts, then it promptly crashes and reboots and does the same thing over and over. Can this be fixed?
It can fixed by putting phone into flash mode and either using flashtools or Sony companion.
To turn off phone push power button and volume up, using PC open software of your choice connect usb cable to PC before connecting to phone then hold vol down key..Phone is now in flash mode, you can now install stock firmware which will help to get working phone again.

Finallt got Flashtool working, thanks so much!

The phone works, I can install apps, etc...
I have .12. No rooted, bootloader locked.
The other day I tried to unlock bootloader with flashtool, I got my code.
Clicked BLU, pressed volume down key and connected the phone.
Worked fine, showed some messages about the phone, and other window appears saying "waiting for fastboot"
In the guide doesn't say nothing about fastboot so I tried again about 4 times.
Then when the fastboot windows appear I tried volume up key and connect.
Flashtool show a message about drivers.
I tried again but now when I try connecting with volume key pressed nothing happens.
I thought it was something about my pc, but today I tried to update to .14 in other laptop (PC companion).
And when I have to connect with volume key pressed nothing happens. The key works when phone on.
Already reset.
Thanks.
You have to allow PC debuging in developer options, and maybe also unknown sources when working with flashtool - and of course installed correct drivers for your device before you start

I already did that.
can u plz tell me which windows version u are using in PC and if u have installed fastboot and flash drivers or not????
I also experienced the same problem but I solved it. Just when trying to go to flashmode or fastboot mode, after inserting the cable push the volume down and power button at the sametime
Hope this works

Power Off device
I faced the same issue few times.
Whenever it happened, what I did was, go into recovery and power off device and then try to enter flash mode/ fastboot mode. And it worked always.
So, I guess the problem behind this is incomplete power off.
I have a d6603 Z3 on 5.1.1. I attempted to use flashtool to downgrade my firmware as per this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/general/guide-rootrecovery-how-to-root-install-t3017056
After allowing it to flash, the last lines were:
10/058/2015 23:58:25 - INFO - Please unplug and start your phone
10/058/2015 23:58:25 - INFO - For flashtool, Unknown Sources and Debugging must be checked in phone settings
Once I did that, the phone would start and during the boot process it would freeze and restart. Connecting to my computer shows that the battery is at 50% no matter how long it's connected. I've tried holding the power button with volume up, or power with volume down, and doing those two while connecting to computer, and nothing. Pressing the yellow button and getting the vibrations don't help. Trying to use PC Companion Repair, but that's not getting anywhere because when I hold the volume button while connecting the device, it doesn't recognize the device. Sometimes the phone will vibrate once while holding volume down when I do that. Still nothing. I'm at my wits end here.
looks like software brick. If you havent unlocked the bootloader go to service center and get it done. but you will get latest 5.1.1.
dont tell them you used flashtool n all.
Hmm, I'll have to wait til support lines open up. I'll report back sometime in the morning/afternoon.
I've just contacted Sony. They want me to send the device in for repair. I didn't tell them what I was attempting to do, only that I was in a boot loop.

I was in the same case and resolved it that way :
Note : locked bootloader
* installed flashtool on my computer (debian 8) : http://www.flashtool.net
* downloaded stock firmware for my isp (orange, france) : http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/general/ftf-stock-firmwares-xperia-z3-models-t2886061
* followed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=45187952&postcount=2 to flash the ftf using flashtool
* got my phone erased and back to stock KK but no more boot loop, and no sending to sony for repair.
Hope this helps and will work for you.
If you use pc companion try going into fix phone and manually select the phone model your fixing and it should force a flash through. Your just going to have to charge it up a bit if possible.
Worked for my boot looping D6616 which I had never hooked up to pc companion before.
Best of luck

I got the OTA 32.1.A.1.185 update this morning, and after starting the install the phone shut down. It now won't start, but shows a Android lying on its back with a red exclamation symbol. Under the image, there is a white text showing "Error".
I've tried to connect to PC Companion, but it doesn't recognise the phone.
I'm on stock, no root.
Is there anything I can do? I've tried starting holding the power button and vol down or vol up.
You could try with Emma.

Z5 is not on the supported handset list
Force a shutdown of the phone by using the INTERNAL off switch (you can find this inside the SIM card area, it's a white square button at the top. Use a pin or something similar to press it until the phone vibrates 3 times).
Then connect your phone to the computer in flashed, PC companion should pick it up and tell you that it needs to be updated, go ahead with the update.
Alternatively you could download your regions ftf and flash it via flashtool (less chance of losing your data).

Or press and hold press the vol up and down and power buttons until it vibrates 3 times
Thanks for the replies all. I contacted Sony support, and they advised me to use the new Xperia Companion software (apparently it is replacing PC Companion). The Xperia Companion worked in recognising my phone for a repair, which got it working again (although I lost everything on it).
I already had a Cyanogen ROM on my Xperia Z5 and was browsing the forum here and saw a Paranoid android ROM so I wanted to try that. I had CWM recovery on it, went into recovery and wiped the necessary parts. Then flashed the rom zip and the gapps. After that I rebooted but the phone kept shutting down and only blinking a red light.
So I connected it to my computer and put it in Flash mode, used Flashtool to put it back to stock. While stock was being flashed on it and halfway it gave an error (which I don't remember) and the phone booted. I assumed it was correct, it gave the white screen with the 'Sony'. After that came a black screen with the 'update failed, please connect to a computer'.
This screen is on for half a second. Then the screen turns off and the same process begins with the sony and then error. This keeps looping when charging or connected to a computer. The Xperia Companion doesn't help and I can't get it in flash mode of fastboot. It is hardbricked and what should I do?
If you need more information I'd be happy to provide it asap.
Edit: It's the same problem with as this thread only the solutions provided won't work

Thanks for the reply and helping me find a way out!
However, when the phone is off and I hold the power button and volume up noting happens at all. This combination only works if I want to shut the phone down.
And I don't think the problem is within the firmware but within the device, because you have to enter flash mode to use Flashtool and the phone won't enter flash mode (or fastboot) anymore. I can't flash anything atm.
No luck here on xda or anywhere on the internet. So I'm sending it to sony hoping they can fix it....
Hi,
I used the guide by G-FACE here and everything worked perfectly.
About a year later, and my phone randomly got stuck in a bootloop.
So using TWRP, I backed up everything on to an SD card. Then wiped everything on the phone.
Without thinking, I accidentally rebooted the phone instead of restoring.
Now the phone powers on and gets stuck on the Sony Xperia startup logo.
Pressing power + volume down does not boot into TWRP.
Pressing power + volume up works, and reboots the phone.
Connecting my phone to a PC makes the connection sound, but the phone isn't recognized on the PC.
Have I bricked my phone?
Regards
*Edit: I powered off phone using power + volume up. Then held volume up and connected phone to PC. The device manager now shows PC "Android ADB Interface", and the phone has a blue LED light
If your device is recognized, just reflash a firmware with Flashtool or EMMA and go on from there with rooting, recovery again to restore your data etc.

Thanks. Once the PC recognized the phone I was able to use flash firmware version 23.0.A.2.93 using flashtool. (I also tried to restore the data I had backed up - but this got me back into a bootloop. So I lost the data on the phone, but at least I have a working phone)
