Stuck in bootloop after a failed flash - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I already had a Cyanogen ROM on my Xperia Z5 and was browsing the forum here and saw a Paranoid android ROM so I wanted to try that. I had CWM recovery on it, went into recovery and wiped the necessary parts. Then flashed the rom zip and the gapps. After that I rebooted but the phone kept shutting down and only blinking a red light.
So I connected it to my computer and put it in Flash mode, used Flashtool to put it back to stock. While stock was being flashed on it and halfway it gave an error (which I don't remember) and the phone booted. I assumed it was correct, it gave the white screen with the 'Sony'. After that came a black screen with the 'update failed, please connect to a computer'.
This screen is on for half a second. Then the screen turns off and the same process begins with the sony and then error. This keeps looping when charging or connected to a computer. The Xperia Companion doesn't help and I can't get it in flash mode of fastboot. It is hardbricked and what should I do?
If you need more information I'd be happy to provide it asap.
Edit: It's the same problem with as this thread only the solutions provided won't work

Did you try to turn off phone and press and hold power and volume up butto to see is the phond vibrate 4 times after few seconds.
Second, try older version of Flashtool and unpack the firmware via Flashtool to see if exist file named fw.info If exist delete him and creste Ftf sgain.Flashing via flashtool would not succed if this file exist ,so i repeat to delete him and try again.

Thanks for the reply and helping me find a way out!
However, when the phone is off and I hold the power button and volume up noting happens at all. This combination only works if I want to shut the phone down.
And I don't think the problem is within the firmware but within the device, because you have to enter flash mode to use Flashtool and the phone won't enter flash mode (or fastboot) anymore. I can't flash anything atm.

No luck here on xda or anywhere on the internet. So I'm sending it to sony hoping they can fix it....

Pretty Sure I Bricked My J

I think i pooched this piece of junk Xperia J.
I'm running 11.2.A.0.21 with a locked bootloader
I finally rooted it, but now i'm trying to get a CWM going.
I read somewhere that when you see the SONY logo, press up and down repeatedly until you get into CWM recovery.
I did get somewhere, the screen went pink and jagged with random pixels and lines everywhere, and the CWM logo is bright green
I could see the CWM text lines, (everything still pink) and i managed to scroll down a line before it shows three battery icons at the bottom.
The phone wouldn't turn on, or do anything, so i pulled the battery for 10 seconds.
I can take a video or take some pictures of the pink CWM of death if you want to see
Sooo now, the phone won't turn on or boot into the stock rom i have.
I plug it into my computer, the green light comes on, and my computer makes the "connection" sound.
If i hold the power button, the SONY logo comes up, then the battery icon, and it continues charging with the green light on
If i unplug it, then hold power, the phone vibrates, SONY logo comes up, then the battery icon shows very briefly before it turns itself off
I have tried holding the down button while plugging it in, to get it into flash mode (or fastboot mode, i can't remember)
and Flashtool doesn't detect it, but i'm pretty sure it is in "that" mode
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Just flash latest ftf file. Not cm10 or something. Working ftf. You can find it in General discusion.
Let us know if you are ok after flasf ftf.
If it works(schould work) just start over with flashing CM10
And if still does not work, relock bootloader, flash ftf again.

How do you suggest i flash that ftf? ADB doesn't recognize the device, i don't have a working recovery, and Flashtool doesn't recognize it either
My bootloader is already locked, i got stuck with a phone that can't be unlocked.
Put flashable zip of any stock based rom on your sd card! Install vengeance kernel! Now boot to recovery and flash the rom! You may later flash the stock kernel back, if you want.
Sent from my Xperia Miro
Flashing Vengeance Kernel requires my bootloader to be unlocked
I can't flash anything through recovery because i don't have a recovery
If i plug my phone into the computer through USB, my computer doesn't even see it
ADB doesn't see it, FlashTool doesn't see it
I can't flash anything from anywhere.
I can't even manually push the system files to my phone because nothing recognizes it. Nothing at all.
The phone won't turn on
EDIT: it doesn't bootloop, i press power, it turns on briefly, then it turns itself fully off
IT"S ALIVE!!!
Holy Hannah, i was getting ready whip it against a wall.
I still miss my HTC One, if it would hurry up with that new bottom speaker...
I opened FlashTool, clicked the black lightning bolt at the top, selected the .21 ftf i had, and off it went. The green bar at the bottom of FlashTool kept moving, but Flashtool itself didn't have any text or words on it, nothing telling me what it was doing. Which was very odd, it should have been making a log, but the window was blank. I waited for the progress bar to fill completely, then simply unplugged and pressed the power button
Anyway, thank you guys for giving me suggestions and keeping the ideas flowing.
Cheers! :highfive:

I flashed a faulty recovery using mobileuncles and there was no signs of life other than a red led liggt, and holding power + volume up works just fine and it went into flashmode.
I have the same issue.
I organized xperia light rom for our xperia c, I flashed it from custom recovery. Phone is completely dead now.
There is a just red light, phone does not go into download or fastboot mode. Pc Companion, Sony Update Center, Wmshua Flashtool do not recognize the phone.
Any suggestion with that?
I don't have warranty, my last option is to pay money for technical service.
this worked for me but instead of POWER+VOL UP i used POWER+VOL DOWN
thanks

I have experienced this too, however, instead of using the Sony Update Service, I used the Sony PC Companion. At first it was not working, so I did a hard reset on the phone (press the button at the back). I held the power+up button while inserting the cable, and finally it was detected by Sony. It will reset your device to factory settings though.

It worked for my Xperia M (rooted on JB 4.3) with a locked bootloader which was STUCK on bootloop screen and when I did the whole thing with holding the power and volume up button (after I let the battery die after so many bootloops it did), FINALLY I was able to take it to flashmode, while I had selected from Sony PC Companion to repair my phone, and after 3-4 tries, I DID IT!!! Thank you so much for this thread ( I DEFINITELY pressed the "thanks" button), it really SAVED ME time and money (because I was planning to send it to Sony to fix it and you ALL know how bastards Sony is)!!!! And to all those of you who are DESPERATE to fix their phone (I hope you read this thread), DON'T PANIC, and DON'T GIVE UP!!! It took me 2 days of searching the web, and FINALLY I MADE IT!!! There are ALWAYS solutions to these kinds of problems!!!!

Miro bricked after flashing wrong bootloader

Hi,
I don't know what can I do now, perhaps noting. I accidentialy flashed wrong bootloader (from other xperia, not Miro). Now phone seems to be completly bricked, I can't turn it on and my PC does not see any new device after connecting phone to usb. I also tried to remove and insert battery, after this when trying to power on, there is short vibration and nothing more.
Do you have any ideas? Or I simply should to use it as brick, not as phone or put it to my toilet and wash? Thanks.
Can you get in flashmode? Power button down + connect to pc. Flash proper ftf for your phone.
Sent from Xperia M2 D2303
Don't worry, Your phone is not hard bricked. As you mentioned that on starting , phone is vibrating that means there are chances to recover your phone.
1.First go through this guide :Using Flashtool for Xperia devices
2.Download your current stock firmware . Visit this: Miro all official firmwares
3.Install proper drivers as mentioned in the above 1.flashtool guide.
4.Flash the firmware for your phone , according to the above 1. Flastool guide.
5.Wait untill flashing completes. start your device when you are told to do so.
Good luck :good:

You should see green light. Try this :
Pull out battery, hold power button for 10 seconds without battery. Reinstall battery, hold volume button - and connect to usb. Then follow steps that prateek.invasion gave you.
The point is you can flash ftf and restore your phone.
Good luck.

Unfortunatly, I can't do anything. I tried to connect while Volume down + power pressed. But nothing happens, only led flashing with red color. PC can't see any new device after I connect to usb.
Any ideas?

I had the same issue with my xperia e after I unlocked the bootloader and installed CWM, the phone just rebooted itself at boot up. If you have installed CWM I suggest you to install a custom rom and a new kernel. That worked for me . Or ofc, if you have warranty you can send it to them. They won't be able to tell if you installed another rom since the pc doesn't recognize the phone.
I don't have cwm... trying to connect to computer with volume down pressed. After this led starts flashing red and computer can't see any device connected
Seems there is no any recovery or I can't put it to recovery mode.

Help with Bricked Z3 6033

Hello, I need help with my Z3 with these symptoms:
-When plugging the USB to a PC, it won't show up. But it does pops a sound on the PC; the S1 Service appears on the device list. Dissapears when unplugged
-When plugged to a PC the phone flashes a red light for a moment, then a green one really fast before the led goes off again.
-If i hold the power button, the phone vibrates a bit. No screen or led are light give any signal.
-If I hold the vol- button plus the power up button, the screen goes up and Sony - XPERIA logo briefly. But it won't start at all and goes back to black.
-If the vol+ plus power buttons are holded together, the phone will vibrate 3 times.
It was working fine just before i tried to install ZyxxOS. I rooted it previously with Kingo ROOT. Then used the Z3-lockeddualrecovery2.8.26-RELEASE.combined. Used the Install.bat. On the dual recovery mode I installed the ZIP, when it looked like it was done I cleared the cache and followed the dialogs. Then a message poped up saying my device was not rooted and offered me to root it. After it the phone went black and the CMD looked like was doing nothing. I left it like that around 25 mins and then unplugged the USB. After I tried to start the phone it didn't worked anymore.
I'd be really glad if someone is able to help me :crying:
Seems like a drained battery and a system corrupted. Try holding the power down for 30 secs, to make sure the phone is turned off, then leave it charging for a while, and when I mean "a while" Im saying put it in charge and go to sleep. The next day the phone will be with full battery for sure, then, download and install FlashTool and install the drivers from the folder of the program after installed, then try the steps mentioned here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/general/tutorial-how-to-flash-stock-roms-t2240614
The tutorial is for the Xperia Z, but the steps are basically the same.
On the newer versions of flashtool, there is an new option to download the stock firmware from the program, wich is usefull if you dont know where to search, and more secure, since the z3 has many different models, make sure to download the correct firmware for the model of your phone, to know the model, just open the chip flap and you'll see a small piece of plastic above the sim slot, pull it and you'll see some information, look for the model, ex: "D6653"
answer if it works!
Wish you the best!

Looks like you're connected, but you don't have any FTF's downloaded. Download FTF for your model, put it in C:\users\Wong\.flashTool\firmwares.
Then while holding volume down button connect your phone to PC. If it says "Device connected in flashmode" you suceeded. Then click on lightning icon on flashtool select your FTF and flash it. Hope I helped.
@Wong17
You also need a unlocked bootloader to install ZyxxOS on your device.

Yep, seems that you only need to download the FTF for you phone, you can use XperiFirm option on the Flashtool to download the firmware for you model.
Then just do what Nojus said, connecto to the PC holding Volume down, the flashtool will recognize it, the led will light up and you're set to reflash your device again.
I think you tryied to flash the ZyxxOS without unlocking your bootloader, then you corrupt all your system and It went to a softbrick state.
Post the results here! :fingers-crossed:

Brick after flashing new rom.

Hi,
I wanted to change my rom to newest version of CarbonROM (7.x.x). I downloaded new rom, copied this onto my sd card, then I rebooted my phone to recovery where I wiped system, data, cache and dalvik. Later I flashed new rom from .zip file, everything went fine, so I rebooted my device and then I realized that it's not starting anymore. I was holding power button but there was only short vibration signal and anything more, when I connect my xperia z3 (d6603) to charger, only red light is blinking, when I'm trying to start device while it's connected to charger, red light is not blinking but it shines continously till I release power button. When I'm holding power and volume up there are only three short vibrations and that's all, they are repeating till I release buttons (this only happens when xperia is connected to charger or computer in other situation there is no response for power and volume up). Flashtool says that I have to install drivers, but they're already installed, device manager shows my phone as uknown device. But when I'm connecting my phone to computer, there is this specific sound from windows and flashtool shows that 'Device disconnected', when I'm disconnecting it. Is there any hope for my phone? Can I try anything more?
well try to enter fastbootmode and flash a recovery.
Similar issue here, I have a d6603 and after using GiefRoot & NUT's DualRecovery I succesfully entered TWRP and attempted to install CarbonROM (latest: device-z3 on the official website)
Now my phone won't boot until I re-flash an older version of stock... any help would be greatly appreciated!
1. Followed this guide: xda's Z3 forum: guide-rootrecovery-how-to-root-install-t3017056
2. boot into recovery, turn off zip verification
3. install CarbonMOD's zipfile
What'd I miss? :S
