S3 Gear email - Samsung Gear S3

Hi
Got a shiny new S3 gear connected to my Samsung S6 Edge. The emails are confusing me a little and I have a couple of querstions.
I have more than one account on Gmail. I believe there isnt a Gmail app but the notifications do come through. Now, here is the question. How do I read my emails from the Stock email app? I can see them, but I cant open and read the content. I can only see the header and subject. Same applies to Whatsapp. Is there an app planned?
Also, will i receive notifications from Slack?
I hope you guys can help.
thanks

If I am not mistaken, what you are seeing is the notification that you received the email. If you tap the screen, you should go to the email app on the watch and be able to read and respond to the email if necessary.

Thanks. you are correct. However, what I am after is how to read email from the stock email app without going through the notification. Any ideas?

WatchIt notification tips?

I successfully updated my Samsung Galaxy SIII from a 4.1.2 ROM (BoneStock 3.4) to a TW 4.3 ROM (Mother of All ROMs, aka MOAR 7.1). After a few tries (resetting watch, deleting and reinstalling apps, and pairing, unpairing, repairing watch and phone) I was successful at getting the phone and watch to play nice with each other. So I installed WatchIt, gave it permissions on notifications under security. And now WatchIt and the watch is getting notifications. All sorts of notifications... and lots of them.
So I know I can go into my phone, and change preferences and "toasts" (btw, what is the difference between a notification and toast? Are toasts when it tells you to choose a setting, like selecting Switftkey as your keyboard?). Before I mess things up, I thought I would ask the many experts here running WatchIt which apps you disabled notifications (and toasts... what ever they are)?
EDIT: Since there is a really long list of apps to decide whether to ignore, allow notifications, allow toasts, or allow both... is there a faster easier method, eg ignore all, then allowing notifications from just the list of apps or services desired? Sorry if this has been asked and answered already.
It also mentions DayDream as a way to configure... any info and guidance on this would be much appreciated! Also, any apps you think work really well with WatchIt (like... ways to get NBA, NFL, and MLB scores).
Many thanks in advance!!
And I feel dumb replying to my question... but I was able to figure out how to disallow all notifications, then allowing notifications from the apps I wanted. But I must not have it correctly set up, since when I had someone send me a test text message, I only got a WatchIt notification that I received a text message... but not the text message itself on the watch. Did I make a mistake with a setting, either on the phone, the watch, or both?
btw, I found a sports score app on the PlayStore called 365Scores that seems to be very well-reviewed. So hopefully that sends the scores of my favorite teams (selected in the app) to my watch.

You dont need to use watchit for sms. Just use the messaging app from Sony and use watchit only for apps that dont have apps for sw2 and/or you want to receice some notifies.
If you still want to use watchit for sms, have you tried differend setting for it? "show both" (watchit - app setting - sms -> "show both"). Im not sure does it work, I use Sony messaging for sms.

First ff, thanks for the reply. And yes, that makes sense, so I had Messaging, Gmail, and any other extension ignored and the only apps that it now receives notifications for is the stock Email app and the new Sports app. I will use the previous extensions I had successfully used when I was on the 4.1.2 ROM. I verified that text messages now go through and pop up on the watch.
I also tried an email... and that didn't. Will I receive the actual emails via WatchIt? If not, will switching to a different email client like K9 work? On the prior ROM, I had my "stock" (Comcast) emails go to my Gmail account, which then was seen by the watch. So worst case I can go back to that approach.
Will any of the notifications (eg from the new sports app) show up on the watch? Not just a "hey, you just got a notification from 365Sports", but the actual score of the game its reporting?
Again, thanks for the help!!
A later update. Seems I can now get email notifications from the phone to the watch via WatchIt... but they seem to come as a group of emails (three or four at a time), only the email title and sender. As such its not as useful as when I was getting my mail routed through Gmail.
And... it appears that the Gmail extension may not work with 4.3 (at least that is what one review of the app in Play Store said). So going from 4.1.2 to 4.3 in order to use WatchIt does not appear to have been a good move.
I will try switching to K9 as my email client and then try the K9 extension. That combo didn't work for me when I was on 4.1.2 (so I instead routed the email to Gmail).
Anyone running a 4.3 ROM and is using WatchIt to get emails via their "stock" Android email client? Any advice or steps I may be missing to get this to see emails? I hate to think I will need to go back to 4.1.2 after all this...
Gosh, this has been a struggle. The Gmail extension does work with my new 4.3 ROM. So here is the work around I came up with. Using Gmail to get the mail from my Comcast account, then it goes to a K9 account on my phone, then to the K9 extension. It appears to catch and display the email on my phone.
Still can't seem to get scores notifications from 365 Sports app.

Anybody know how to fix the text wrap issue or another app that has that issue fixed

Latest update... I seem to have gotten WatchIt to work. I have it delivering Sports 365 notifications to the watch (neat app, btw, as it includes a whistle on the phone notification). And, I am getting email notifications, including the full email but only if it only notifies on a single email. If multiple emails come in... they all get notified at once, and only a list of he emails.
Is there something I can do to force it to notify each email separately?

[Q] Exchange email notifications have limited visibility on Gear 2?

I've got the Gear 2 and I'm receiving notifications, but I am noticing that there is EXTREMELY limited notification for the Exchange email portion. Such as, I hope I look at the screen the moment the alert comes up so that I might actually see more than just the name of the emailer, but possibly a small portion of the subject. Because when I go back into notifications and select email, I get the following alert:
"The content of this email cannot be shown on the Gear for security reasons. For details, view this email on your mobile device.".
NOTE: I left the original Galaxy Gear for the Pebble and now left the Pebble for the Gear 2. Both the Galaxy Gear as well as the Pebble allowed me to see the content (albeit not all content, but some) of the emails from my Exchange account... I am aware that certain security protocols within Exchange would limit the view, however if that same protocol was active on the Exchange account, it would have limited notifications on all three devices, not just this one.
Is anyone else experiencing this aggravating issue?
I've attempted all software updates as well as checked within the Accessibility settings (but there is no Gear service there to approve access) and within Security (notification access) and Gear Manager is already checked.
Gear Manager version: 2.0.14040401
Gear 2 Software Version: R380XXU0BND8
Yes same issue and I fill your pain it sucks when Your in a meeting that was the selling point of the gear2 frustrating that's for sure.
Try Cloudmagic for your Exchange emails. The notifications are working for me, with a few minor bugs such as a doubling or tripling sometimes of the email notification. Also use the older stock Android email and Exchange Services, but this gave me more of the same type of bugs in frequency, so I went to Cloudmagic and am happy enough.
Hacked Sense Exchange app (preventing PIN lock enforcement, available on most custom HTC ROMs) also defeats this security limitation. I'm able to see Exchange email subject and several lines of text on my Gear 2 with HTC One M8.

Ahh... Cloudmagic! I haven't tried that yet. I've had it installed for about an hour and I love it! Thank you for the pointer! Makes it even better that I'm able to see my notifications on the Gear 2 now with it. SWEET!

no problem with exchange here! I have two accounts (2010 and 2007) and both work as they should! I can read the emails without any problems, and the notification shows a few words of the content...

I used the ZWatch for a while before the Neo came out. Exchange emails were very limited, so at the advice of the community, I switched to K9 for emails. Well, for some reason today, K9 wasn't getting any emails out, so I turned the base client back on and was I ever glad I did. I can see the full content of the email on my device, which is EXACTLY the functionality I need.
I'm running a Gear 2 Neo against a Verizon Galaxy S3 on the stock version of 4.3.
I am very pleased with the Exchange Email output on my watch.
Thank you for the heads up with Cloud Magic it's been kicking a** that was the main reason I purchased the gear 2 for easy read of notifications during meetings all day I left my cell on my hip and looked at my gear to see the importance of the notification.
Thank you bro.

Glad to help out and share what i find out myself. That is why I like to visit XDA. I still am hopeful that Samsung did not intentionally block Exchange notifications, but it could be that they gave in to Corporate pressures on this. Since they did "break" it once in a past update, but then got it working again, we will all have to wait and see.
Gear S2 mail problem with exchange
I have exactly the same problem with my Gear S2.....and no solution :crying:

Anyone else not able to reply to emails?

I setup my email app, the stock one not gmail, and I am unable to get any prompt to reply to messages. It seems that the funtion is disabled on my gear. Anyone else experiencing this or find a way to fix it? You're supposed to be able to reply to emails with templates.

My girlfriend has a s5 and can reply to emails with templates.
Figured it out. You'll need to install the 4.4.2 email apk from the s5. Then you can reply to emails with templates. If you have the 4.2 email version like I did, then you can't reply.

Info about hangout and whatsapp notifications

Hi, I couldn't find anywhere such an info. This could be a potential reason for me not to buy this watch.
Is it possibile to directly start an hangout chat or a whatsapp chat directly from the watch? I mean can I only answer to a recieved hangout or whatsapp message I guess, but can I even send a new message directly from the watch?
I own a Huawei Watch and, at least for Google hangout, I can start a new chat directly from the smartwatch.
Thanks in advance, this is really important for me.
I'm using an app called NOTIFICATION STYLE GEAR for receiving and sending whatsapp messages, it can also send & receive emails, FB, Google Now,Hangout and more.
When you receive a whatsapp message it stores the contact and you can reply at any time.
But there is just one problem with the app, it can only store your messages for as long as the watch is on, if you turn it off, you loose your messages/whatsapp contacts. Then you need wait for the person to send another message again.
It's available on play store, your get 20 free tries, then you need to purchase the app.
It's not perfect, but at the moment this is the only app I have found that you can reply to a contract stored on your watch.
There is also another app called what history. Which let's you store whatsapp messages, the developer said you will be able to reply to messages in the next update.
First of all thank you very much for your answer.
I thought that you could answer any notification without having to use a dedicated app, I mean, I though you could answer a whatsapp or a hangout message on your own on the watch without any app. Isn't it true?
I was asking just whether or not you need a separate app to start a new chat on your own.
Now, from your answer it seems like you need an app to reply to a chat message too. This is scaring. 😱😱😱
I mean, then what kind of notification you can answer on your own on the watch, just sma and email?
You can answer a message: whatsapp , mail or hanghouts. but you cannot start one.

Then, the app Iamac was talking about is needed to start a conversation with hangout or WhatsApp directly from the watch?
Hello Aratheba, the app I use works like this.
When you receive a whatsapp message it stores it on the watch. You can delete the message but it will keep the senders name. That way you can reply at any time. I'm not sure if it is the same for hangout messages as I do not use it.
As I said earlier, the downside to this app is when you turn the watch off, as it looses all the contacts and messages. And you have to wait till you receive another message then it stores it again.
This app works well as you get a pop up on the watch with the senders whatsapp profile pic. There are many settings within the app for different vibrate patterns for different message types. For example, you can have 3 vibrates for whatsapp and 5 for hangout. You can also change the font size to make it either easier to read or smaller to fit more of the message on the watch screen.
I hope this helps you.

Thanks. Now it's crystal clear.
It's not perfect but it's a beginning. It would be interesting to know whether it really works for hangout too.
Thanks anyway
What do you use hangouts for? I just tried it.
With the app I use, it isn't very good. I don't see any emails. If I use sms I can receive but no option to reply.
You are meant to receive hangout messages with the watch's own app, when I tried it, I got no notifications. There is a list of app notification to choose from and hangouts was selected.
For emails I use a android phone app called MY MAIL it merges all my email accounts into one app and I can use this with notification wear app I have for the watch.

I use hangout way more than whatsapp. There are several reasons for.me to prefer hangout over whatsapp, but it would be ot here.
I also use Hangouts more than Whatsapp, as it is used as my company's chat app. Have been using Wear for the last 2 years, and have never found a reason to start a message on the watch. Trying to find the contact you need would take forever. Replying to a message i done a few times, probably now a bit more as the S3 has a " keyboard".
It's easier than you think: you just don't have to archive chat and you can easily add a new message to an already existing thread. No need to search for contacts.
Moreover I found that voice dictation on wear it's almost perfect.
And, if you try last preview for wear 2.0 you even have keyboard and hand writing. ?

email query please.

This may have been covered before, but i can't seem to find anything on it, so please forgive my ignorance if it has.
I have a S3 Gear Frontier, i have the stock email app on my watch, and use the same stock email with 4 different accounts set up on my phone and as my email hits my phone (S6 Edge) it hits my watch (Great!)
What i want to do is check the email via watch (without taking my phone out of my pocket) read it and delete it, But, go into my phone at a later stage and either reply, or move it to a desired set up folder, or delete if not required.
Can i do this? Is there an option to be able to delete it from watch and not from phone? Or am i missing something in settings on phone / watch?
Really appreciate any info on this one, thanks in advance

Mails are deleted on the phone as well, and marked as read on aquamail when I open them on the phone
I use Aquamail. On Gear we have juste notification and notification action for each mail : Read, delete... You can not check (or view) your mail from the watch, just incoming notification.
With Samsung mail app we can view all the phone mail with the watch mail app.

Yes just notification (like all other smartwatch) , no check mail in the mailbox like samsung mail app. And only few lines of the mail, not complete mail and often not enough to see what about mail.
