I've got the Gear 2 and I'm receiving notifications, but I am noticing that there is EXTREMELY limited notification for the Exchange email portion. Such as, I hope I look at the screen the moment the alert comes up so that I might actually see more than just the name of the emailer, but possibly a small portion of the subject. Because when I go back into notifications and select email, I get the following alert:
"The content of this email cannot be shown on the Gear for security reasons. For details, view this email on your mobile device.".
NOTE: I left the original Galaxy Gear for the Pebble and now left the Pebble for the Gear 2. Both the Galaxy Gear as well as the Pebble allowed me to see the content (albeit not all content, but some) of the emails from my Exchange account... I am aware that certain security protocols within Exchange would limit the view, however if that same protocol was active on the Exchange account, it would have limited notifications on all three devices, not just this one.
Is anyone else experiencing this aggravating issue?
I've attempted all software updates as well as checked within the Accessibility settings (but there is no Gear service there to approve access) and within Security (notification access) and Gear Manager is already checked.

Yes same issue and I fill your pain it sucks when Your in a meeting that was the selling point of the gear2 frustrating that's for sure.
Try Cloudmagic for your Exchange emails. The notifications are working for me, with a few minor bugs such as a doubling or tripling sometimes of the email notification. Also use the older stock Android email and Exchange Services, but this gave me more of the same type of bugs in frequency, so I went to Cloudmagic and am happy enough.
Hacked Sense Exchange app (preventing PIN lock enforcement, available on most custom HTC ROMs) also defeats this security limitation. I'm able to see Exchange email subject and several lines of text on my Gear 2 with HTC One M8.

I'm rocking the Note 3, but glad to hear notifications are working as they should with non-Sammy devices... *facepalm at Samsung*

Ahh... Cloudmagic! I haven't tried that yet. I've had it installed for about an hour and I love it! Thank you for the pointer! Makes it even better that I'm able to see my notifications on the Gear 2 now with it. SWEET!

Glad to "pay it forward" from the poster that I read this tip from. Cheers!
no problem with exchange here! I have two accounts (2010 and 2007) and both work as they should! I can read the emails without any problems, and the notification shows a few words of the content...

I used the ZWatch for a while before the Neo came out. Exchange emails were very limited, so at the advice of the community, I switched to K9 for emails. Well, for some reason today, K9 wasn't getting any emails out, so I turned the base client back on and was I ever glad I did. I can see the full content of the email on my device, which is EXACTLY the functionality I need.
I'm running a Gear 2 Neo against a Verizon Galaxy S3 on the stock version of 4.3.
I am very pleased with the Exchange Email output on my watch.
Thank you for the heads up with Cloud Magic it's been kicking a** that was the main reason I purchased the gear 2 for easy read of notifications during meetings all day I left my cell on my hip and looked at my gear to see the importance of the notification.
Thank you bro.

Glad to help out and share what i find out myself. That is why I like to visit XDA. I still am hopeful that Samsung did not intentionally block Exchange notifications, but it could be that they gave in to Corporate pressures on this. Since they did "break" it once in a past update, but then got it working again, we will all have to wait and see.
Gear S2 mail problem with exchange
I have exactly the same problem with my Gear S2.....and no solution :crying:

Hi, hope its OK for a soon-to-be user (decided on SW2 over Pebble) to ask a few basic questions about email questions. First, I use a GS3 rooted with a 4.1.2 ROM (BoneStock). I understand that the email notifications using the stock app on SW2 only gets notifications from Sony phones, so I am guessing I will need to use a different notification app to get email notifications other than GMail. I use the stock email app to get my Comcast emails (POP3) on my phone... is there a recommended notification app that works (or works best) with stock email apps?
I also see that there is a K9 email app for the SW2... I can switch to K9 on my phone if it works better with notifications on my SW2. Have others started using K9 on their phones for that reason, and are there added benefits doing so?
Seeing text message notifications (with the added ability to send canned replies easily) will be my primary use case for the SW2, then seeing email notifications, so before I get the watch I wanted to make sure I was able to satisfy both use cases. Thanks in advance!
Hi,
Try researching Augmented for smartwatches. It is more than capable to extract and display notifications from whatever application you want, be it gmail or k9 (it is equipped by design for these two and a few others) or any other you might choose to use.

I successfully updated my Samsung Galaxy SIII from a 4.1.2 ROM (BoneStock 3.4) to a TW 4.3 ROM (Mother of All ROMs, aka MOAR 7.1). After a few tries (resetting watch, deleting and reinstalling apps, and pairing, unpairing, repairing watch and phone) I was successful at getting the phone and watch to play nice with each other. So I installed WatchIt, gave it permissions on notifications under security. And now WatchIt and the watch is getting notifications. All sorts of notifications... and lots of them.
So I know I can go into my phone, and change preferences and "toasts" (btw, what is the difference between a notification and toast? Are toasts when it tells you to choose a setting, like selecting Switftkey as your keyboard?). Before I mess things up, I thought I would ask the many experts here running WatchIt which apps you disabled notifications (and toasts... what ever they are)?
EDIT: Since there is a really long list of apps to decide whether to ignore, allow notifications, allow toasts, or allow both... is there a faster easier method, eg ignore all, then allowing notifications from just the list of apps or services desired? Sorry if this has been asked and answered already.
It also mentions DayDream as a way to configure... any info and guidance on this would be much appreciated! Also, any apps you think work really well with WatchIt (like... ways to get NBA, NFL, and MLB scores).
Many thanks in advance!!
And I feel dumb replying to my question... but I was able to figure out how to disallow all notifications, then allowing notifications from the apps I wanted. But I must not have it correctly set up, since when I had someone send me a test text message, I only got a WatchIt notification that I received a text message... but not the text message itself on the watch. Did I make a mistake with a setting, either on the phone, the watch, or both?
btw, I found a sports score app on the PlayStore called 365Scores that seems to be very well-reviewed. So hopefully that sends the scores of my favorite teams (selected in the app) to my watch.

You dont need to use watchit for sms. Just use the messaging app from Sony and use watchit only for apps that dont have apps for sw2 and/or you want to receice some notifies.
If you still want to use watchit for sms, have you tried differend setting for it? "show both" (watchit - app setting - sms -> "show both"). Im not sure does it work, I use Sony messaging for sms.

First ff, thanks for the reply. And yes, that makes sense, so I had Messaging, Gmail, and any other extension ignored and the only apps that it now receives notifications for is the stock Email app and the new Sports app. I will use the previous extensions I had successfully used when I was on the 4.1.2 ROM. I verified that text messages now go through and pop up on the watch.
I also tried an email... and that didn't. Will I receive the actual emails via WatchIt? If not, will switching to a different email client like K9 work? On the prior ROM, I had my "stock" (Comcast) emails go to my Gmail account, which then was seen by the watch. So worst case I can go back to that approach.
Will any of the notifications (eg from the new sports app) show up on the watch? Not just a "hey, you just got a notification from 365Sports", but the actual score of the game its reporting?
Again, thanks for the help!!
A later update. Seems I can now get email notifications from the phone to the watch via WatchIt... but they seem to come as a group of emails (three or four at a time), only the email title and sender. As such its not as useful as when I was getting my mail routed through Gmail.
And... it appears that the Gmail extension may not work with 4.3 (at least that is what one review of the app in Play Store said). So going from 4.1.2 to 4.3 in order to use WatchIt does not appear to have been a good move.
I will try switching to K9 as my email client and then try the K9 extension. That combo didn't work for me when I was on 4.1.2 (so I instead routed the email to Gmail).
Anyone running a 4.3 ROM and is using WatchIt to get emails via their "stock" Android email client? Any advice or steps I may be missing to get this to see emails? I hate to think I will need to go back to 4.1.2 after all this...
Gosh, this has been a struggle. The Gmail extension does work with my new 4.3 ROM. So here is the work around I came up with. Using Gmail to get the mail from my Comcast account, then it goes to a K9 account on my phone, then to the K9 extension. It appears to catch and display the email on my phone.
Still can't seem to get scores notifications from 365 Sports app.

Anybody know how to fix the text wrap issue or another app that has that issue fixed

Latest update... I seem to have gotten WatchIt to work. I have it delivering Sports 365 notifications to the watch (neat app, btw, as it includes a whistle on the phone notification). And, I am getting email notifications, including the full email but only if it only notifies on a single email. If multiple emails come in... they all get notified at once, and only a list of he emails.
Is there something I can do to force it to notify each email separately?

Hi
Got a shiny new S3 gear connected to my Samsung S6 Edge. The emails are confusing me a little and I have a couple of querstions.
I have more than one account on Gmail. I believe there isnt a Gmail app but the notifications do come through. Now, here is the question. How do I read my emails from the Stock email app? I can see them, but I cant open and read the content. I can only see the header and subject. Same applies to Whatsapp. Is there an app planned?
Also, will i receive notifications from Slack?
I hope you guys can help.
thanks
If I am not mistaken, what you are seeing is the notification that you received the email. If you tap the screen, you should go to the email app on the watch and be able to read and respond to the email if necessary.
Thanks. you are correct. However, what I am after is how to read email from the stock email app without going through the notification. Any ideas?

You have to use the samsung mail app on your phone.
Hi, i installed the official Gear Manager SW on my 6s but except calls and SMS I do not see emails....tried many things like activate background app activity, app is running for sure, and so on., changed notification settings of emails....but til now its not possible. also the app itself does not have any parameter settings to select specific notifications......sad.
Any idea what could be wrong, if the question arises I have the watch S2 Sport with latest software not running in powersave mode.
Thanks for any help!!!! Norbert
I read that IOS not compatible with the Email. I see that in samsung official site.

not sure if there is a misunderstanding - i mean simply the notification of a new email.....and not a full app for emails. this i have read as well somewhere else that still no app for email on iOS systems.
My problem is with notifications...not a dedicated app to read emails.....
nobody else problems to get notifications of new emails on iOS? for me only SMS/Calls are notified.

If you mean the Mail App from IOS?! It won't work, because of Apple. Same like Android Wear.
All the other Mail Apps working for me.
GMX works! For Outlook and Gmail i'm using "myMail"
All the notifications are working on my Gear S2 Sport.
I mean that the official mail app on my iphone with GMAIL account and Exchange account does not notify my on my S2 Sport whenever a new email arrives....no notifications. My question if others have the same issue.....its strange as for example other 3rd party apps like ebay are able to notify.....so cannot believe mail app has problems.
It is working fine for me - iPhone 6s+ with iOS 10.2, iOS Mail App, Gear S2 Classic with latest firmware, and latest Samsung Gear app from the store. It was not working for a while, when I investigated why and I realized that when I tried Outlook mail I had disabled the notifications from the built in Mail app - enabled them for the accounts I want to see on the watch and it is working fine now.

I don't know why, but the Switch for notificationcenter for IOS Mail was off.
Now I get even notifications from IOS Mail App:
Working notifications (Gear S2 Sport R720XXU2EPK5 / Iphone 6S 10.2)
- SMS
- Mail
- GMX
- myMail
- Calender
- Whatsapp
- Facebook
- etc
Still hoping that we can relpy in near future
I have a Pixel, and just purchased the S3 Frontier for $299. I actually bought the LG Watch Sport when it came out, but cancelled while I was waiting for it to process. The reviews of the Sport are not very good, especially battery life, plus it looks awful IMO.
Reading lots of reviews and posts about poor integration with non-Samsung phones, like email, messaging, Google Maps, etc. I use the Google Voice app and Gmail/Nine for email. Has any of this integration improved with newer updates? Will I be able to receive/send messages from the S3 using those apps?

I have a Moto G4. The S3 voice app has some rough spots, but i use Aquamail for my mail and Textra for my SMS and they both work well. I don't use the voice feature that much, but I have answered my phone a few times on it and the other person has told me I sound fine. I have a couple of golf gps apps on it, one standalone and the other requiring a phone app and the one that requires the phone works fine.
I was skeptical about linking my Frontier up to my Huawei Mate 9 and believed it would not really work that well. But after a couple of weeks of use I came to the conclusion that everything works just as well as it did with my Galaxy S7. The only change I made was to install Textra as my default messaging app. Which is better than stock anyway.
This is a big improvement over previous Samsung watches and they have made the Gear S3 more attractive to all other smartphone users now. Iphone connection is flaky (but I don't see Apple going out their way to get along with Tizen or Android any day soon)
So I don think you have too much to worry about.

Since I'm a GV user, I'll comment from that perspective. I have the GV app installed on my phone for setup purposes (including preserving my caller id). There is no GV app for Tizen, so this has to be setup manually, using the Google assigned alias/shadow numbers.
In general, notifications from the phone, including Gmail, are passed through. I needed to install the Android Wear app in order for this to work. I use Hangouts for messaging and can respond but not initiate a new thread. Others here report a different experience.
I think Gear S3 is the most well executed watch currently available. That may change later this year as more AW watches come to market, but the LG Sport isn't one of them.
