It looks like the rom Malaysk ROMs has more success!

What you meen with more succes?
da-anton's is using less RAM and running better on my and my friends unit.
Faster boot time
No issues
Malasyks is the most complete one, but had some issues on my device (slow start and often memory problems).
The base of the ROM is the same. Only da-anton left fome stuff out to improve starting and memory.
I'm gonna upgrade to 2GB (already ordered) and are gonna use Malasyks rom again if it runs better with 2GB. For now I'm sticking to da-anton just because of the faster boot time and better response while on load.

It starts in how many seconds?
Me 40seconde
One can add in addition 1 gb of ram or should the ram be replaced by a 2 gb?

Hello !
How to be in recovery mode?
Me car multimédia img.
Thx

Rts reset..
I can not get into recovery mode .. How do I get it please?

Yes I have uptade
I do not see any change...

Update MCU is nog vissible change, it's on the background.
Now download Malasyk or da-anton's rom and install

Mcu update shown as v1. 97a_1
Getapped and getalked with 6603

[ROM] B92M No Cholesterol Jelly Bean 4.1.2 with 2.5GB internal

-----------------------------------------------------------
1. INTRODUCTION
-----------------------------------------------------------
I got myself a Star B92M China-brand phone. The phone features are awesome,
with Android 4.0.4 ICS ROM; HD display; 1GB RAM; and very affordable price
-- I couldn't ask for more.
However the stock ROM has a few caveats:
- It sends out SMS to the phone manufacturer each time I reboot the phone.
- There are a lot of junks inside. I don't need those China apps!
- The internal storage is pretty small. I got my storage full in no time.
- I want more recent Android ROM.
Of course there are solutions to this. I found them, I tried them out. I give
them credits (see below in credit section). More than that, hopefully I can
get my phone to do better. I'll just customize this.
-----------------------------------------------------------
2. FEATURES
-----------------------------------------------------------
- Jelly Bean 4.1.2
- 2.5GB internal storage partition
- Back to basic - trimmed down apps
- Will not SMS back to manufacturer
- Use external SD as primary phone storage, instead of the remaining 85MB.
-----------------------------------------------------------
3. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
-----------------------------------------------------------
3.1 REQUIREMENTS
The following are installation requirements:
Requirements:
- Microsoft Windows XP/7/8
- At least 400MB to unpack the ROM
- MT6577 USB VCOM drivers
- Mediatek SP Flash Tool v3.x
- ROM zip file
- USB cable that comes with the phone
3.1 DRIVER INSTALLATION
a. Unpack the driver ZIP file.
b. Run InstallDriver.exe
3.2 ROM INSTALLATION
a. Extract ROM zip file.
b. Switch off your phone. Then, connect your phone to your PC.
c. Run Flash_tool.exe from "SP Flash Tool".
d. Load "Scatter-loading" file named as "MT6577_Android_scatter_emmc.txt"
available inside the extracted ROM folder.
e. Click "Download".
g. Disconnect your phone. Take out the battery for a while, and put it back.
h. Reconnect your phone. ROM downloading process should start now.
i. Wait until a window with "green donut" appear.
j. Disconnect your phone.
3.3 POST INSTALLATION
If this is the first time you install a "2.5GB" ROM, you may need to reformat your
data partition before first use. Follow these instructions:
I. Enter ROM Recovery
a. Press Volume-Up button. Press Power button. Hold them together until
the green Android robot appear.
b. Release the buttons. You should be entering the recovery boot.
c. Use "Volume-Up" and "Volume-Down" buttons to navigate.
Press Power button to enter submenu.
II. Backup your existing data.
III. Wipe data/factory reset.
IV. Restore backup data.
V. Reboot system now.
NOTE: During creation of the ROM, I did not go through backup/restore process. I had the data
partition just wiped out. Therefore, please do not ask me if your backup/restore doesn't work
on you.

4. DISCLAIMER

I'll check out the fix. So far I have no issue with my GPS.
Hi,
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THIS!
You saved my a?? today - I killed my b92m and was not able to get it back to work again. Already the recovery mode failed .... and then I found this. All I can say is: Very cool work.
I was able to install it without any real issue on my phone (just one issue - see below).
Now about the issue:

I also have the 1GB RAM edition (at least my 4.0.4 Image showed up 1 GB RAM in every tool).
Now - after having flashed your package - I see only 512 MB of RAM.
Any idea how to fix this?
Thanks again!

Just checked mine using Antutu Benchmark.
Under Info -- System Info.
Check under Memory size (available/total). What do you see there?
I got 456.5 / 970.7 (which means roughly I got 1GB RAM total). Let me know your result.

Flash preloader from 2.5GB folder. You shall be fine.
Anyway, for the OP, how about the camera? Is it 8MP or 12MP? If it's 8MP, can you make a flashable zip for those who want 12MP? And any luck with GPS issue? Since the first day I got this phone I never have GPS fix. Oh, I almost forget, is this ROM deodexed?
Thanks in advance, dev.

Help ! )
I am new to all this flashing thing - thats why I was so happy when I found your work here - the "all in one package".
When you say "flash preloader ...", do you mean "take preloader.img from a 2.5gb-data-perm-root.zip file" and just flash that using the flash tool? Or do you mean preloader_vanzo77_twn_jb.bin from your zip file?
On the camera:
I can select only up to 8 MPIX when I go to camera settings ... is this what you need?
How do I create the "flashable zip"?
On the GPS:
Need to test it.
And WTF means "deodexed"?

Yes, the first one, from 2.5GB folder. If the issue persists, copy preloader from 2.5GB to JB folder, then delete the original one (the original preloader from JB something-vanzo-blablabla). Reflash using SP Tool and make sure the preloader is from 2.5GB folder. Reboot. I posted about the issue in another thread, perhaps you can relate to this too: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36285435&postcount=503
P.S. Wipe data if necessary.
P.S.S This is very advanced. If you don't know what you're doing, stop where you are! You might end up bricking your device.
And yeah, the rest of questions I meant for the OP. You can care less.

OK, cool. Done.
I flashed the preloader and now I am back to 1 GB RAM (max 970 / free 548).
On the GPS topic:
I used the gpstest app and did a clear AGPS / request AGPS step. Afterwards, it took about 2-3 minutes to get a fix.
And while driving home, I constantly had 6+ satelites in view and an accuracy of about 10-15 meters.
In short: GPS is working as before (i.e. before=my old 4.0.4 ROM)
Thanks again.
The Spanish forum has a new ROM as of today, but they continue to use that god-awful multiupload.nl to place the files, so my system absolutely refuses to let me download anything from it...
Guys,
What is the build number of this custom rom based on ?
I just got a B92M with 1GB and preinstalled with JB 4.1.2 . Build number is B92 20121222- 160954
Any advise on how to root this Jelly Bean ?

Checked the GPS fix.
I tried out with two units of B92M, one with GPS fix and another without the fix. Result is somewhat non-satisfactory. The fix does not seem to help much in alleviating the GPS fix issue.
I tried out "GPS Test" and cleared AGPS & redownloaded AGPS data. This seems to help better as I could get the GPS info faster this way.
Haven't tried out physical antenna mod, tho.
I will keep you guys posted on this.

[Q] Identifying and routing my mini android phone

Hi all,
Background:
I bought an android phone from Chinavasion. It is described as
Wholesale Waterproof Android Phone - Mini Android Phone From China
I cannot identify its device type which is why I am posting here. The play store identifies the phone as
Alps Ratech72_wet_rlk_lca
The phone has a MT6572 Dual Core 1GHz CPU and runs Android version 4.2.2.
I want to increase the ram of the phone. It is 256MB. I want to use virtual memory. I have a 2GB sdcard in the phone. I am planning to give it 512MB. Can I do this without rooting? If I have to root it, then how do I do so? I would prefer not to use an exploit.
Anyone any suggestions?
Pranav
Hiya,
I went around looking for some hints on this phone as well but didn't come up with anything.
I got my device yesterday and I understand your issue. I have no sollution for you but I do have a solid work-around to get some more app space which, I'm afraid, involves rooting.
Activate USB debugging, connect your device to a PC. Download and run Kingo Android Root and follow the instructions.
After that I "adb'ed" to make the phone choose the SD-Card as the default installing path. Run th following command with adb.
Code:
# adb shell pm set-install-location 2
For the apps that wouldn't move to the SD-Card, due to su issues, I moved manually with the app called Move app to SD card.
Grant the app root access to sort out the apps not willing to move by themselves.
With this sorted I now have 500 mb of apps installed on the SD-Card. I am running low on memory now due to some parts of the app still installs on the phone memory.
Not a real app2sd script but it certanly will get you some more apps installed!
Another hint: When I ordered the phone they said it supported 16 GB SD-Cards only but I'm running flawless with a 64 GB card!
I'd love to see a costum recovery (since I don't know chinese) and CM for this device, but since it's not a western phone I guess we'll have to settle with stock.
Hope this helps.
A few hours has gone by and without doing any backups I replaced some system apps and now I can bearly work the phone! Haha.. Thou shall not do this sort of thing after 2 h sleep.
Anyway, don't be afraid of doing what I wrote in the previous post, it worked just fine! I'm hoping you'll do it, it's the only way I can think of to get the system files back. :-S
Since there seem to be no one but you and me who have bought there phones..
edit: Sorted out my problem, got it running again! However, if you are going to root it, please do share the stock files! :-S

to use virtual memory you would have to root it and plus you cant get that much more ram with virtual memory, 256mb of ram on a 4.2.2 phone? i hope you got a good deal for it because 256mb will get you nowhere with nowadays google play apps updates hogging all the ram.
Some more info. Appearently the phone is also called "Nanex" and/or Z18 Mini Smartphone.. Maybe it's called different things in different regions?
Move to SD card SUCCESSFUL!
Im so glad there was this thread, it seems like nobody else knows about this awesome little phone!
I followed the instructions that "pingaan" posted and it worked! now i can install as many apps to SD card as i want, awesome!
I'm glad I could help.
I've been using this device for about a week now and I have to say that the stock rom is horrible! There are many flaws and no updates incoming, as far as I know.
Another disappinting thing is that the screen material is >VERY< easily scratched so DO NOT order this phone without screen protection.
I am going to order a new one cause I love that it's so small! It's even smaller than my old "dumbphone", but I don't see myself using stock rom. I'd rather not use the phone at all.
I'm going to try to compile a custom recovery and port a suitable CM11 rom to this device for proper usage.
Don't expect it any time soon, cause my days are normally filled up with family, house and work.
Regards.

everything about this phone is pretty good for the size, except the ram is so ridiculously small, i've tried to add virtual ram with link2sd and partitioned sd card, but apparently link2sd won't work without hacing the bootloader unlocked first, but i can't unlock the bootloader as it seems like there doesn't seem to be proper drivers for this phone.
if you are planning to do a custom rom on there, please let us know how when and how you managed to get the bootloader unlocked plz! :fingers-crossed:
Since I noticed the screen being easily scratched I ordered a new device from a different retailer, along with a plastic screen protection.
There is an interesting thing about this. The bootanimations are different and there's also a reboot option in the powermenu on the new.
Maybe the bootloader already is open? I mean, if you can change the power menu you need to alter the framework, right? The bootanimation is quite easy to change with root access however.
Have you checked the built-in recovery? There is actually an option for installing "update.zip"..
Do you have a proper app2sd script that I can try out on my old device?
Cheers...

WHAT CAN THIS MEAN FOR THE FUTURE OF THE INTEL HEAD UNIT
https://ami.com/board-support-packages/
It looks like we should be able to get some code and kernel for android 6.0..now we just need to find someone to build a roms for us
food for thought can we do something like this for our intel units ...this could open some doors for us
http://www.cnx-software.com/2014/12...d-from-an-sd-card-on-rockchip-rk3288-devices/
wasn't necessary thinking Linux ubuntu only...but if you made bootloader look for a system on a sd card android,linux,windows,exc...you could have a dual boot system....this would be awesome it would make it easier to mod system files and experiment with different os and have the ability to pop out the sd card and be back to stock config if you didn't want to boot off sd card make an sd card to redirect boot loader back to internal system...or if bootloader can't find a os on sd make it default back to internal system. ..I think something like this would be one of the best things that could help speed up development and allow roms that were built for different partition sizes and systems become more Universal .
Anyone want to chime in
Can this be done

this can be the answer if can this be done with our head unit..... http://www.xda-developers.com/install-use-multirom-xdatv/
This app only works on selected devices. Check the list at the bottom of this description.
This application requires root and it is designed to be used by experienced "power users".
It is strongly recommended to read XDA thread before installing this app, you can find links at the bottom of this description.
MultiROM Manager can install or update MultiROM, it's recovery and kernels. It can also install Ubuntu Touch system-image based builds into MultiROM as a secondary ROM.
MultiROM is one-of-a-kind multi-boot mod for Android devices. It can boot any Android ROM as well as other systems like Ubuntu Touch. Besides booting from device's internal memory, MultiROM can boot from USB drive connected to the device via OTG cable. The main part of MultiROM is a boot manager, which appears every time your device starts and lets you choose ROM to boot. You can see how it looks on the left image below and in gallery. ROMs are installed and managed via modified TWRP recovery. You can use standard ZIP files to install secondary Android ROMs, daily prebuilt image files to install Ubuntu Touch and MultiROM even has its own installer system, which can be used to ship other Linux-based systems.
.Here's the deal... if we could dual boot another android os for head unit let just say rom from joying or other brand/manufacturer you could test rom see what works and what doesnt , modify rom ,extract apps from rom and if rom was better you could make rom you primary boot ..(i also believe we could add or mod the mcu part back in the rom).... and you would be able to test this all with out erasing you stock configuration or stock rom ....you would be able to test and develop new updates as they come out.. you could test with out erasing or wiping your system.. you could run Ubuntu ,Ubuntu touch or other more pc based os and still have the ability to reboot and be back in radio os android mode....and I think there is a fun factor here with experimenting and adding more function to the head unit

Man can you use antutu for the specs.?
Factory boss from HotAudio statea that cpu-z is as showing erroneous information.
They have the same 2gb ram unit but it is rk3188 processor ... not Intel processor....they detected that cpu-z detects other processor.
He told me to try Antutu to get the correct information
By the way ... he finally said that he is noy engineer so .... just in case ...if you can run antutu to check what says.

Not sure what your asking for or how to do it
Wondering if you could extract the apk file from your app that displays vehicle information so MTCD users could test it on their head units.
How to extract installed apps as apk guide:

EDIT: against all odds, this product is actually legit.
Hello! Can somebody post firmware for this HU?

I know there are new headunits with 2gb ram. All manufacturers have same units. Hotaudio guy THINKS that no CPU Intel.... still rockchip rk3188 but 2GB RAM.
He thinks Cpu-z software is giving erroneous information about the processor specs....but Antutu will give.mkre reliable information.
Can you run antutu please?
To check the specs again.

Did you get a chance to extract the vehicle information app's apk file from your head unit? Very interested to see if it has cross compatibility with our rK3188 MTCD.

Not at all. Review images and other threads such as

Note internal images with SOC module fitted with heatsink.
Possible Chinese offloading a now defunct intel module.

Again... FAKE.
Do you not realize how simple it is to report fake stuff on those screens? I don't even mean by the end user trying to prove they have something weird. I mean the MANUFACTURER THEMSELVES will screw with you. Presence of a HEAT SINK on the CPU means nothing, except that they installed a heat sink. This ALONE will cause a dramatic improvement in the unit's performance, thus "proving" that it is an "intel" CPU, when it actually is NOT.
how would you prove it does have 2GB of RAM?
Fake or not let's wait for benchmarks first before heated speculation.

Eonon GA7153A - ROM install help?

I just installed an Eonon GA7153A. I foolishly purchased it thinking that I wouldn't have to do any customization, but now here I am with a not common manufacturer.
Here's some info I gathered from the unit:
Kernel Version: 3.10.0 [email protected] #1040
Build Number: px5-userdebug 6.0.1 MXC89L user.hct.20170623.215236 test-keys
MCU Version: MTCD_WWW_V2.54e_1
So, where do I get started? It's been forever since I've messed with custom ROMs. It looks like I can just download a Malaysk ROM. I grabbed v3.5 and it contains an update.img file and a couple mtc-launcher files with their own "Copy_To_internal_sd" folder.

Hi..
I have the same unit..
Flash malaysk v2 rom.. as v3 has alot of bugs and 3.5 has no gapps.
You copy the update.img on a fat32 formated sd card
Insert in the gps card slot and a popup will come.
Select wipe data and hit it.
As soon at it finishes it takes a long time at the first boot.. so be patient and dont mess with it.
During the update proccess be careful not to cut power or remove sd.
As for the copy to sd folder... is used for the screensaver to display the vehicle speed..
I have the screensaver disabled and i didnt copy them.
Otherwise you copy them after.. its not mandatory..

Thanks! I was just about to try v3.5.
Will this fix the static/hiss that's always coming over the speakers? Also, are your front and rear speakers switched when you adjust the balance?
Unfortunately the hiss is still there..
Yes i have the same issues.
This is probably mcu or hardware related.
I already have emailed eonon about an mcu update.
If you do too matbe we will have it sooner.
That hiss is really geting on my nerves..
I messaged their rep on the GolfMK6 forum, but I'll be sure to contact their support directly. This thing has so much potential, so hopefully the issues can get ironed out.
Have you tried any of the other ROMs, or is Malaysk's our only option at the moment?
I had tryied 3 diferent roms and spented MANY hours
.. Rooting... trying programs ect...
Malaysk v2 is what seemed the best of all.
I like the unit.. Its fast and responsive.
I hope they can resolve
The issues.
I have a mk6 too !
Had an rns510 before and its like i jumped from the stoneage to life..

They just sent me a new update.zip, but the .rar file has the same date as what came with it. I'm going to try it out just in case. I talked to a friend that installs car electronics (unbeknownst to me) and he recommended staying away from the Chinese units completely. Cheap hardware and they don't QC. I might push for a replacement unit if the firmware doesn't work out, and if that one has issues I'll just scrap the idea of having an Android HU.
I'm being sent a "differential board power cord" to try out to get rid of the hiss.
Hi guys,i just purchased one of this units, and i have some question before flash new rom: does this rom has Optical parking display and AC display? Thanks!
Hello
Got this same unit, dont like the OS, its not very customizable. Cant even change the widgets on the home page for example, simple stuff like that. Anything I can do? Maybe flash a custom ROM that gives me more control over its features?

T9 RK3318 Custom ROM

Hello, Do you know a custom rom compatible with the Box T9 RK3318 ? The stock rom is too ... Stock ^^ Thank you in advance.
searching too ;-)
I found a Android 9 Stock rom for the T9 64GB 4GB ram version of this box. Best way to upgrade it is by using a SDcard formatted in Fat32 and use the SD card using SD_Firmware_Tool_v146_eng_AndroidPC.zip and the firmware file name is 3318_9.0-TVBOX-Z2_0820.img Make the SD card with the program. Insert the SD card while the box has no power. Hold the button inside the AV port while holding it in. Plug in the power. Then release the button when you see the T9 boot logo come up and it will automatically program the TV box to version 9. The only issue I had was with playstore would not install the apps. But if you install them manually it would update them or using a phone or computer and pick what you want from playstore works it will download and install from there when you select the TV box. Also it will not connect to WIFI while plugged into Ethernet where as the 8.1 allowed both Ethernet and WIFI to be connected at the same time. I am currently searching for the Android 10 version.
Update:
This file is more updated. 3318_9.0-TVBOX-Z4_1025.img Then once its installed run the updater to get the next update to have the latest 9.0 installed.

hello, sorry for my English I live in France I would have a question about the box: TV T9 RK3318, 4gb / 64gb. the problem is that the time is desynchronized on restart and creates problems to connect to applications when the time is out of order, I tried everything changed the time zone to deactivate and entered the time Manual it goes out of order all the time . is there a custom version or a version 10?
As far as I know there is no Android 10 available for this TV box. If you want Android 10 time to buy a different Box other than a rockchip based one. As for the time resetting whenever the box is restarted this is normal it only resync when it connects to a time server on the internet. Not sure how you go about fixing that. There is no internal battery to keep time on it like a other devices would have.
Android 10 GSI ? Since the T9 was released on Android 9 and hence Treble compatible
yes no custom rom no Android 10, for now, even with an internal wifi connection sometimes she does not want to synchronize
Hello,
Before going further with this, if you wish to test those firmwares go ahead but you are the only responsible for your acts
I don't want any credits it's just to help ppl out, I was just testing the device myself.
I was also looking for a custom rom for the T9 Rk3318 but couldn't find one (in the box it was mentioned 3318 but when I opened the device in the mainboard it was saying rk3328 :/ )
I flashed some firmwares that I found (not custom) and finally bricked the box.
Then I did the testpoint and recovered it with two firmwares that I found in the link below that seems to be very compatible, all the credits goes to the owner.

A95XR5_RK3318_Android10_2020-07-10 -- is working great
The one below I found it a bit slower but it also works
RK3318_DC_R1_AP6330_10_20200707.0137working
What doesn't work:
- original remote control
- display leds
...you can tell
You need a tool to flash them
-Rockship factory Tool
-Usb male to usb male cable (you can also find some videos on youtube to make one yourself)
you can find some instructions how to flash here:

This post helped me a lot, didn't have to search aimlessly and after flashing the a95xr5 rom its way better than the Z5 one the tvbox had before. It's still slow but man, compared to the old ROM its usable and not so damn sluggish. Thanks for taking the time to post this.

I've found an Android 11 ROM for this box, works amazingly well compared to the A95X and the sluggish T9 Z5 ROM. Here is a link to it:
RK3318_DC_HK1_COOL_AP6330_11_20210522.1453.zip
drive.google.com
WIFI works, only the front panel and infrared remote does not work. By the way, I flashed this ROM with an SD card because the USB cable I made was wonky and stopped flashing midway causing the box to not boot at all. It's simple, download the tool I've attached to this post and use it to either flash or just boot the img if you don't wanna flash it to eMMC (Haven't tested the SD Boot function myself but it should work)
This website also helped me a ton: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/17597-csc-armbian-for-rk3318rk3328-tv-box-boards/
