Just picked it up and works great. Holds on nice and strong. When used with a 15watt charger it charges pretty fast. If you need a car mount this is the best one we can get.
Some basic info for those who want one.
No charger. You will need any car charger but 15w will be best.
No usb cable. just a usb type c
Can be used with android auto or just like normal.
Can be used on the go for for a 3.5mm jack. That is bulky. You can also remove the mount from the back and remove the release tabs and make it a bit more useful for that but its still bulky.

I have one of those docks that are magnetic whish is great because with this phone there is no need to add the magnet with the adhesive the phone just sticks straight on it. I love it! It's also a lot cheaper than buying the car dock.
so you have to plug it in for it to charge?

I had one to. But it did not clamp on the vent to well. This dock has a thumb scre so you will rip the vent out before it slides off. Also gives you a 15w charger "charger and cable required" as well as an aux out. Plut it up and android auto will instantly launch. Great dock well worth the $65
Got mine on Sunday, works great!
Can you control the next or previous song from the car steering wheel with it?
Kind regards

Over Bluetooth you can if your radio supports it.
On another note, anyone have a cheap recommendation for charging my phone in the car super fast? Also does this dock support data transfer or only power? I have an avh-x2700bs and being able to use the dock for appradio one would be super cool.

What is so smart about that cable? Also do you know if this incipio dock supports data transfer via it's usb c port?
Should I order a USB-C to USB-C cord to go along with this charger? I currently have this and it's meh at best for charging but it does data transfer.

Because it has a built in chip that makes your car read the music player data just like having a USB stick inside (name, artist etc).
You need a Type C to Type C cable to activate TurboPower, the charger comes with one included.

This has been my favorite moto mod so far! I have everything but the mophie pack and the projector. It's so nice to just get in my car, stick that right by the air vent next to my steering wheel, and I'm good to go. It's so smooth, really can't go wrong (unless your vehicle isn't so great with vent mounts.)

FYI, the dock does not allow USB data pass-through. This means that the dock cannot be used with existing radio/vehicle Android Auto. It will only auto start device-only Android Auto.

I agree that having an aux jack on the Nexus One car dock would be pretty sweet, but it is what it is, and I wanted to move on... Here is what I did:
Nexus One (duh)
Nexus One car dock (...)
Kensington LiquidAuxbluetooth car kit: us.kensington.com/html/14484.html
Micro USB cable
Plug the Kensington L.A. into the accessory outlet, and connect the audio output plug to your AUX on your stereo. The L.A. provides a USB port to use for the Micro USB cable. (for charging)
Plug the micro USB cable in this port and route to your car dock.
Once you pair your phone with the L.A. place it in the car dock and setup the audio to be whatever combination you would like. I personally use the dock for calls (because the mic is better) and the L.A. for audio.
One accessory outlet, (no splitters) one wire coming from it to the dock, audio routed through the AUX in your stereo, and (IMO) really great call audio thanks to the dock and noise canceling, which still works with the phone in the dock...
Just sharing my experience, YMMV, IANAL, OMG, WTF, BBQ...

+ 1. That looks like a really good solution. Another benefit you did not mention is that by powering the Car Dock with the Micro USB cable, you do away with the spiral lead that is on the Car Dock power supply. So easier to route and hide.
Any issues with charging the phone and powering the car dock? Isn't the car doc charger higher output than regular chargers and perhaps the one on the LiquidAux?
how's the music sound quality?

No issues I have noticed so far, there is no additional <warmth> on the LiquidAux I have been able to detect, and the phone charges just as quickly as it would when plugged in using OEM adapter. And yes, losing the spiral lead is a nice bonus...

Sound quality for me is great, there is no interruptions, etc I have noticed. But I suspect that this would be a YMMV kind of thing based on the car stereo used and the distance / path (if that even matters with the relatively short distance) between the LiquidAux device and the phone...

awesome writeup... Even if this thing doesn't work to pickup calls I don't care, I always have a bluetooth headset for the car anyhow. I think I'll get an extra socket and mount it all under the dash out of sight.
Even thought you can plug in a wire to the headphone jack I want a solution where I can stick the phone in the holder when I get in, and pull it right out without messing with cables every fricken time... Most the time I don't plug my phone in right now just because of that very reason.
With a nice setup like this I'd plug my phone in every time I get in the car... awesome, Thanks!

The media functions work fantastic with the Nexus, the iPhone does not support track skip, where the Nexus does. I have not been able to get the phone button to start voice dialing like the iPhone does. I have not actually had a call while driving to pickup yet, so I can't say for certain whether that (pickup incoming) works or not...

I have call audio go through the dock, yes. The LiquidAux has a microphone, but it is quite far away from the the speaker's mouth IMO. Additionally, the dock still uses the extra Michael for active noise cancelling and is quite crisp and clear for calls. (I have so far made several outbound calls with great results.) The music pauses, audio routes up to the dock for the duration of the call, then the music resumed on the car speakers automatically...
As the title says, I'm looking for a dock and wondered if anyone is using something that fits my requirements.
Ideally, I want a single connection to charge and provide line out/audio. I've seen that the Samsung desk dock supports this but can't find a car dock that does both from he usb port.
My car only has a 3.5mm aux in so bluetooth is not an option.
Cheers

Awesome, good news.
I've replaced the cable in my car dock several times.
One time I had a cable with a huge connector on it.
So I shaved the plastic off the sides of the connector until it fit in the car dock.
Worked great.
I still need to order a USB C cable for my car dock and research what type of 12V to 5V adapter I need to buy that will work for 3.0 quick charging.
I'm guessing my 3A adapter will be fine but I need to verify.
I like to hard wire my charging behind the dash rather than use a cig adapter for charging.

I've got car and desk docks that are useless now because they have USB 1 or 2.
The $70 I spent on the Craigsdock several years ago has more than paid itself back due to the future proofing.
Its adjustability even worked with the stupid Note phone's offset USB port location. :good:
What about this one? Looks perfect, right? https://amzn.com/B01DT1D7CY
Can anyone post a link to a reasonably priced USB-C to 3.5mm/Charging port adapter that works with the PH-1? Every adapter I found on eBay or Amazon states they are only for Moto phones and do not work on Pixel's or Galaxies, so I assume they will not work on the PH-1.
The one on the Google Store for the Pixel 2 works from what I hear. I'd double-check though.
I bought many cheap ones off of eBay and none worked. I finally bought the Moshi one listed on the Google store and still does not work. Anyone able to find one?

You need the ones that say "built in DAC".
The Moshi adapter does have DAC. The 3.5mm audio portion of it worked. The charger port did not charge the phone. I'm looking for a dual 3.5mm/USB-C charging adapter.

My son has the Moshi adapter for his Pixel 2 and I tested it out on the Essential.
I found that it worked. You can listen and charge at the same time. I put a USB power meter on the output of the 2.1A USB-A charging brick and found it will charge with that style power source at about 1A and it doesn't matter if you're listening or not. The same power adapter directly connected without the Moshi dongle goes at about 1.5A. This is an older non-USB PD spec power brick. Don't have a USB C power meter so can't check with something like the OEM Essential power brick. In theory, the Moshi dongle supports USB-PD so you might get faster charging.
FWIW, the lack of headphone adapter bothers me and my most critical use case is the ability to charge and listen in a non-Bluetooth car. The Moshi dongle is pretty clunky for any use IMO. Ended up buying an inexpensive Bluetooth receiver for the car and it works great.

Hello everyone! Sorry for the dumb question, but I was wondering if it is possible to add a wireless charging receiver inside a OnePlus 6. There are some receivers on Amazon for Galaxy S3, S4 and S5, and I thought that it would have been cool to have one, just to play with the hardware.
I'm not talking about the receivers which have the cable with the Type C USB port, but the receivers that connect directly to the battery. Something we can build ourselves.
Could it be possible? What do you think?
I'd nearly say hold on for the 6t and save yourself the hassle. ?

Unluckly I have already bought the 6, and this is my first OP phone and i think it is just awesome.
Anyway I only wanted to do something cool and play with the hardware of my phone.
Yes, I use one. Works just fine. The only annoying part is having to unplug it when I need to connect to my PC. I wish they made one that plugs into the usb-c port but still allowed a USB-c to plug into the receiver. It would probably make the receiver plug too big.
Here is the one I use:

If you're talking about some kind of hardware hack, I can't imagine that there's room inside the case given how thin this phone is. Years ago, I tried doing something like that with my HTC One XL, which had a flexible plastic case and more room inside. I still couldn't make it work.
Wireless charging is awesome but i only like it because my phone has a micro usb.... now that i have ordered a oneplus with usb c i dont think i will miss it because wireless charging is slower and heats up the phone more.
You have two options, buy external wireless charging receiver that plugs into USB or do a hardware hack and put wireless receiver inside the phone. It's certainly possible as back cover is glass, but it's not trivial.
