LG V20 Root Tutorial Video - LG V20 Guides, News, & Discussion

For some people a video is easier to digest than looking at a bunch of command lines. So I took the liberty of making a video for all the people interested in root without quite knowing how to do it. I'm in no way trying to kang anybodies work. I would like to thank all who put time and money into making root possible for us T-Mobile users. Video Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZEL96MPLvY

A cupcake guide for newbs by a newb - need critisicm

Everything I know about Android, I learned from XDA.
I run a little Android blog and a lot of non-tech people have been asking for help with getting cupcake installed. I really struggled with the idea of posting a guide since so many have been done before. With all the recent cupcake builds, I thought I would attempt a guide geared towards people who have never rooted their phones and want cupcake.
Anyways, I just posted the first draft and I need help with suggestions and fact checking. I think most of it is factual, but I prob made mistakes.
If you got 5 minutes and want to help out the community, give it a quick read.
I tried to take the easy route when rooting. When I first hacked my phone, we didnt have a lot of the tools and scripts that are out now. If any step could be simplified, please let me know. Thanks.

nice blog..
Nice 50 screenshots of Haykuro. Can't wait to see his next release.
Easiest way for noobs to root their phone to the latest 1.1 ROM before flashing the 1.5 ROM is to use the root app. It can be found here, along with step by step instructions.

When I was a noob, I first rooted my phone using that app, but now I remember all the commands by heart lol.
edit: just looked at your blog, you already have it there.
Any other takers? I just wanted to make sure this was as friendly as possible before I offered it to people. Thanks.
You may want to check out this guys method of the root procedure. It's similar to yours, but it doesn't use the .apk file. I did it his way, and I pushed everything from my laptop to the phone, so rooting took me about 10 minutes or so.

I would make a fork for those who don't have wifi access, or want to do the rooting a little quicker.
very organized your blog is though.
Thanks for the link. That looks like a good resource, but I think it is too many commands to type for some people. I'll watch all the videos and see what I think.
Good job!! Looks likes a nice guide. One thing I might add is the recovery instructions since the current JF1.5 ROM

Samsung Captivate - How To Videos

Hey everyone! I am pretty new here to XDA, registering account-wise, i have always followed everyone's awesome knowledge from here.
Well I hope to bring some good exposure and knowledge to help contribute to the xda cause. I have been recording How To videos on things I have found from all the great work you guys have done from the forums.
I try to explain things simply to non-technical people and make it somewhat easy. These first couple of videos might be a little rough, but this is my first attempt at doing video-tutorials.
Anyways I would appreciate any feedback from you guys. I also give credit where credit is due, i have linked to the original source of the thread if I used anyone's specific method.
Would anyone like me to do a video for anything else? I have a couple more ideas such as how to put the droidx multitouch keyboard on, installing samsung kies software/drivers and also how to remove the AT&T bloatware.
take care everyone and keep up the awesome work!!!

i would like to see how to get rid of all the bloatware,,also if you get a good camcorder im sure it would be appreciated by all
Another video tutorial that would be neat (if ironic) would be one over the camera's features. There are so many its over whelming on how to use them all to your advantage.

How to root?

Hey everyone. I just got this note pro today from Amazon. I've read about a lot of functionality you can get from rooting your device. The thing is I have no clue how to root a device. I've looked around the internet and to be quite honest I'm still not quite sure how to properly root the device. I was hoping someone could maybe point out or give me step by step instructions on how to root a device. Including making backups and the programs needed. I'm totally a noob in this and quite terrified of destroying a 685.00 dollar device. Thanks in advance to anyone willing to take the time out. The reason I'm rooting is because I want to get better battery life and be able to run any app in multiview mode. (Student who wants to go multiview with amazon ebooks and a note taking app)

I'm not sure which Internet your using.... you must not be looking very hard because your answer is in this very forum. In fact , there is a great big thread about it a few lines down. If after reading said thread you still have a question, I suggest asking IN that thread.
Every one here loves to help out, but you gotta put in at least a TINY bit of effort dude.

Which files / tutorial will I need

First off, I got to say I love yu XDA guys...I've never had any issue rooting something with a tutorial from here.
Problem is, I've read so many links on this phone, now I'm confused....and can't seem to get back to what I read. I just left Verizon in favor of Metro and got this phone for FREE during a promotional period about two weeks ago....so I really don't want to do anything stupid and brick it.
It's the 700T1 variant and the build is MMB29K.J700T1UVU2APK6 if that will help. If someone would just point this total noob to the right tutorial for this I'd appreciate it. It doessn't have a gyrosope sensor and I've read there are ways to trick it in to thinking it does, but of course you have to have root - and my kid and I want to play Pokemon Go so that we can actually see the little guys on our street, in our park, etc. Thanks!
Also, does anybody know if the "quick roots" work (Kingo Root, etc). What have / did you have success with?

How to create a root method for an android?

Hi all, looked everywhere -- results seem to only display "how to root android."
My question is a bit different:
Is there a resource anyone can direct me to that shines some insight onto how to create a root for an android?
Nobody has come out with a root method for the LG Stylo 3 Plus yet, and Im wondering if it's worth going ahead and trying to make my own.
Similarly, is there a good resource that explains how to design your own ROM? Im a relative beginner at this, and I'd like to root my phone and then perhaps design some sort of OS for it in my spare time that I could maybe share with the community if it gets to that. Is this a good resource?
TIA
Same situation
I'll second that question, I'm trying to develop a root for the LG G5 H820 but I don't know exactly where to start. I figure it requires adb which is pretty much a given but that's about all I know. My second question would be that even if I were to find an exploit, how do I utilize it to give the user root? Thanks.
