Hi
Just wondering if anyone has looked into Ubuntu Touch for the Z5? Hardware wise it would be a beast, and Android security is starting to annoy me.

Likely wont happen due to how problematic it has seemingly been to get something such as AOSP ported to this phone
Anways android security isnt much of a problem due to SElinux, sony RIC and DM-Verity
Android security is only a issue if you go to dubious sites and install odd apps

I just got the Shield Tablet on Black Friday and after activating T-Mobile LTE and inserting a 64GB Samsung microSD card it's started getting really slow and laggy. I'm running Nvidia's stock Lollipop and haven't rooted. Should I reset my device with the factory image and root? Would that help me with the lag, or might this be a hardware issue and should I get a replacement from where I purchased it?
Having paid $400 and running OEM stock, I'm a bit pissed off at how bad my experience with this tablet has been so far performance wise.
Flash back to Kit Kat, Lollipop is just broke -- not just on the Shield tablet, on ALL devices.
If you want to spend time hunting around, I am sure you can make your experience somewhat better if you really want to stick with the crap OS, but there are some basic problems with the OS that can't be fixed.

Try a factory reset at first. For me it's OK, no big differences to KitKat.

I am running lollipop on my nexus 5 and it's fantastic. It's fast, stable and has zero issues for me.

Since you are running AOSP, do you have all the Google services installed? Maybe the issue is with Google's Play framework...
All I know is I have tried many of the suggestions that have been posted to fix the various issues. Some work, some don't and some are iffy. I do know I have NO problems with Kit Kat. I shouldn't have to "fix" my OS. ALL versions of Android prior to Lollipop have been significantly better than the previous version -- until now. Unfortunately I just have to wait for Google to fix it (5.0.1 doesn't).

Yes, I am running the play framework. Unfortunately Google seems to have released a far from perfect update as loads of people are having problems. I'm not convinced it's everyone though.

I had similar lag on lollipop, but after a reset it is running great. Try a factory reset before doing anything like downgrading to kitkat. Lollipop runs great for me, way better than kitkat.

Uninstall Facebook it seemed to break lollipop on my tablet.
Here are the thing I'm doing that seem to help with lag.
Uninstall Facebook
If using Nova Launcher turn on Aggressive Desktop (Advanced -> Aggressive Desktop)
Format cache partition in recovery mode

I also found that uninstalling Facebook was really helpful. Is it just not optimized for Lollipop in general? Seriously, the difference was night and day for me.
Well I have a unique issue I can't find much info on. This is not the 5.0 lollipop bug with the camera becoming inaccessible. I'm currently running 5.0.1 factory image rooted.
The problem: My camera and Flash are not usually detected when I boot the phone. Even if I reboot. I thought this was something with the rom so I reflashed 5.0.1 cleanly, but the problem persisted.
The only time they are detected and work is if I press on the area where the flash and camera are located and tap it with something heavy. The problem is that I don't think the flash and camera are really related. I've opened the phone and they in separate areas. Could it be a motherboard issue? Anyone know about hardware stuff like this?

Yep, sounds like a HW issue
ITIt's a very common bug. Another is using voip apps like line or kakao with headphones. You can hear them but they can't hear you. Both are well documented. Changing the camera is no use. I had to move to CM. So far it's worked out I used to get a card like that but saying "unable to mount the camera"
IT IS NOT HARDWARE. YOU WILL RUIN THE PHONE DOING THAT. I THOUGHT IT WAS AT FIRST TOO. Read up on it

OK I will try flashing CM and see if that fixes the issue. If it does then I'm done with stock 5.0 for good.

Use lollipop dream. It's cm based and I love it. No fc's
Well I didn't expect it to the fix the issue and after flashing CM to rule out any stock issues the camera and flash don't work.
I guess. My question is whether or not anonymous has had this hardware issue before and if they found a fix.

I have been trying to fix the incompatibility issues of several apps after upgrading to Lollipop.
I have been searching for a solution, other than changing the full build prop to another device.
Any clue?
I found the solution to all my problems simply by downgrading to Kitkat, I know longer wish to be a guinea pig to Sonys half baked beta testing.

I noticed recently that I can no longer see running processes/apps on my idol 3. I use an app called system panel which is just a basic task manager app and it no longer shows any running processes at all except itself. It still seems to be getting other system stats fine (CPU, RAM, etc). This seemed to coincide with one of the previous OTAs and so I just assumed I would need to wait for an app update. The app has been updated a few times since and there has been at least one additional OTA and the problem persists. So then I decided to try some other apps and turns out none of them were showing running apps, they all had this same problem.
Anyone else have this problem? I know these apps work on newer versions of Android than we have on the idol 3, so I'm guessing either something Alcatel did in one of the OTAs broke some api or something I did broke the phone... I'm not rooted or xposed or anything like that (bootloader is unlocked though, but that's been for a long time an it worked after that). Phone is up to date with stock OTA.

Stagefright patch change things on who can view/access processes information. Find another app of wait until your app gets updated.

Ah OK.
Do you know if that is only on the idol or is that a generic consequence to fixing stagefright that affects all phones?

All phones with that particular patch.
Hi everyone just a quick question here, is it possible to upgrade my Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.1 to Lollipop and if so how can I do it, its such a ashamed that Samsung stopped OS firmware updates for this tablet. Also would I loose out on any functions assuming I upgrade. Also I read where this will stop the screen flickering issue, I find that this screen flickering issue on mine only seems to happen when the battery starts running low, even with mine it starts doing this rebooting cycle very annoying
