Anyone know if custom message tones are possible? - Samsung Gear S3

Want to get my geeky trek communicator sound as my notification sound

Yes, there are quite a few apps in the galaxy store when you go to it through the gear manager. Some say you need a compatible app installed on your phone but that's not a problem I assume.

Odd, I still can't see any. Looked in all the categories for something. Either I'm dumb (quite possible), or blind.
Do you have a name of one so I can try a search? Searching for tones brings up nothing. Should I be searching for a gear app or a Galaxy app?
Thanks.

Just search "sound" without quotes, should work for you.

[REQUEST] Widget that just displays some text

I am just after a widget that lets me enter my own text, maybe select some basic formatting options and that's it. I want to have some little headings on my different home screens.
nice idea. something that looks like stock froyo would be great. something skinnable would be better.
Banner or TextWidget
Did either of you think to search the Market before posting here?

Not sure if you'll be able to hear me up there on your high horse, but for your information I searched for 'text widget' on AppBrain (cos I have very poor connection on my phone at work) and nothing relevant came up.
Sorry to waste your time and thanks for your help

I can hear an irritating squeak.
"text widget" was the exact search string I used to return the results... perhaps it's a different market?

I think so, see for yourself http://www.appbrain.com/search?q=text+widget
Pwnd, thread lock in 5..4..3....jk but try searching on cyrket next time I find it to be more accurate
Cyrket/androlib are market front ends, appbrain is not. Appbrain filters out the junk..
So if looking for a real market then appbrain is indeed not what your looking for
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
While Appbrain does filter it doesn't completely remove apps from view it just makes them much less prominent if they are assesed to be junk. Have a look at this search http://www.appbrain.com/search?q=woman
You can see how most of these results have been filtered, doesn't stop them being viewable or installable if you really want to.
Indeed if you search for textwidget as one word http://www.appbrain.com/search?q=textwidget you do get the app suggested above, so it's not filtered out

Hello!
I have a galaxy S2 (original ICS) and I want to be able to hide (exclude from scan) some music files from showing up in the music player. I looked for music apps that could do this but cant find any. For the pictures I use quickpic where you can choose which folders not to show. It seems really weird to me that there are no apps or an easy way to do this.
I know there is a .nomedia trick or whatever. But its seriously that difficult to have this built in in an app? There is no other way?
I googled and tried to find info but there doesnt seem to be a good music app that lets u do it. Im willing to pay for an app too so it doesnt have to be free.
Hope someone can help.

Power Amp Does this. Over all best music player on the market. Paid? Yes but well worth it.
Ok I downloaded it but I didn't find that function. Where in the settings is it. I must have missed something.

Ringtone suggestions?

I want a ringtone that's unique, maybe something from a video game that isn't heard often. IE: Metal Gear codec ring.
I tried the sonic drowning countdown, but it just isn't doing it for me. Just doesn't sound right as a ringtone.
Any suggestions?

I'm going to be a really pedantic fu**er right now.
Dictionary definition of the word 'Unique';-
Being the only one of its kind

Therefore the only way you will ever get a truly unique ringtone is if you record a noise or tune that you have created or written and ensure that nobody else is ever able to copy it.
Failing that, just think about what you actually do want, go and search for it (try SoundCloud for some ideas that you can possibly copy out) and decide what you like.
OP, post your request here or just monitor this thread maybe you can find what your looking for...
There are apps, that allow you to make your own, check the GPlay Market, Thank you and Thread closed.

[Q] Looking for custom notification sounds for Android (spoken messages)

I am looking for a listing of notification sounds/ringtones for Android; in particular I am looking not for music/beeps/tones but actual spoken messages. (For example, a butler-like recording of "You have an incoming message, Sir" in British accent or such). If anyone can suggest some places to look for those, I'd appreciate it, it seems that my google-fu skills are failing me in this quest. Thanks!
(If this is not the right forum to ask this question, please let me know where should I ask)
Try Zedge.

It seems like a UI app, but I have no need for a UI app to make selection easier. What I am looking for is something with a bunch of voice sound bites.
It's got everything. Look through the categories you're interested in, save the ones you like, then uninstall the app.

Another message app with keyboard besides Fleksy?

Just seeing of anyone knows of another messaging app with a keyboard. I saw a video of tablet talk but that was on the gear. Fleksy is good but no Swype and only let's you respond to contacts. Doesn't even show unnamed contacts in the inbox.

Have you tried 1C SMS Sender or calliGEARaphy and Fast SMS personally I liked the 1C SMS one, but it seems to interfere with the "OK Google" command on the phone. Otherwise I thought it was the best of the bunch.

Try short messenger. It has the numpad keypad similar to oldschool phones.

The ones I listed above are all available for the Gear 1 & Gear 2 Tizen. If you can't find them it's Samsungs fault. You have to do some trickery with either the build prop or the files on the Gear.
Chris
Yeah I was just about to ask if those were for the watch. Couldn't find some of them and one charges you per message or something? I'll just stick with Flesky.
Man you have to explain to me how to access all these apps! Is it tricky ?

download build.prop editor and you can change a line to make your NoteII look like an S5, I'm out and about, but search the gear forums on Gear 1 and Gear 2, there are a couple of posts that describe how. But the line should read SM-G900T for S5 or SM-N900T for Note 3. S5 seemed to show more in the past for me. After you change the model number, reboot and check the app store again. Then you can change it back.
