CM 14.1 G900P LTE on Boost Mobile not working - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

CM 14.1 G900P LTE on Boost Mobile not working
14.1-20161125-NIGHTLY-kltespr
Galaxy S5 SM-G900P3BOF6
Kernel Version 3.4.83-g45b0022
Baseband Version G900PVPU
build number cm_kltespr-userdebug 7.1 NDE63X ac17afb5ba test-keys
So after moving up from CM 12 up to CM 14.1 My LTE doesn't work again. I've been around the web trying various recipes for the APN settings to no avail. Settings I used to get it to work on CM 12 but which are not working in CM 14.1 were:
Name: APN1 Boost Internet LTE
APN: n.boost.ispn
Proxy: not set
Port: not set
Username: Boost_mobile
Password Not set
Server Not set
Server Not set
MMSC: h t t p : / / m m . m y b o o s t m o b i l e . c o m
MMS proxy: 68.28.31.7
MMS port: 80
MCC : 310
MNC: 120
Authentication type Not set
APN Type Not set
APN Protocol IPv4/IPv6
APN roaming protocol
IPv4
Bearer unspecified
MVNO type : None
One tip I found on CM 12 was that I sometimes had to dial *720 to get the phone to jump from 3g to 4g mode.

try put in apn type:
APN Type: default,admin,fota,mms,supl,hipri

if that doesnt work, it might be the modem firmware. You could flash OK4 with Odin, then flash TWRP 3.0.2, then reflash CM14 and set your APN. Long process, but itll likely work

112516 Nightly didn't even give me 3G... G900P, Boost as well.

Did you get this resolved? If so, how?

I'm curious too. I haven't been able to get data on any 7.x/ 14.x ROM I've tried. I'm still just fine with M because that means I can still use xposed but I would like to give N a try

No resolution. I used 3G for a long time. Then my Play Store started falling to pieces with errors all the time. I've gone back to an older Verizon phone for the mean time. I'll have more flexibility now to work on the Galaxy S5 now.
I thought I saw some excellent traffic about the LTE problems, but can't seem to find them in the searches on the forums. Could the messages have been lost? There were some things suggested that I really wanted to try.

i cant recall, but does boost use t-mob? if so, the best youll get on a g900p is HSPA+. The forum messages probably arent lost, just several pages deep and sometimes keyword searches arent the best for finding stuff (as odd as that might sound)

Make sure you are using the correct apn for the carrier you are on, and also check to see if LTE is toggled off.

I tried searching but could not find the 'right' APN as I am unsure what is right and wrong. All I know is that I am able to get HSPA+ but no LTE... Could you please advise? Also, in the network settings it is currently GSM/HSPA/LTE (to that variant).
Currently on the Rogers network.
Checked for LTE APN and currently used this, no luck:
Name: Rogers LTE
APN: ltemobile.apn

Problem resolved, I guess I just had to reset + let Rogers register my SIM or something.
Can you tell me which "baseband" you have installed? It is in the Settings, About, Software Information, More screen. I'm having the exact same issue (no LTE) on Rogers and have that exact same APN. I'm wondering if I flash a certain radio if it will fix it. It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It might just be your area in KW.
I have the latest 2.41 radio from O2 but that should not matter as I previously had 1.94 (Rogers) radio as well.

Thanks for the info. We definitely do have LTE coverage here in the KW area. I ran the RUU to test it out and I indeed got LTE coverage. So far I'm stuck on HSPA if I run any custom ROM, but it is really not all that bad. Thanks again. Some day I will figure out how to unlock LRE on my phone!

Good luck, if that did not work I would say make sure you have an LTE microSIM as my knowledge in this matter is limited.

Update: I installed CM10 last week and got LTE. It has worked perfectly since then. I'm now running Calkulins 1.0b ROM and am still getting lte. I can't explain it, but it is fixed!
noob
any one help?? please.. i took my phone to someone who rooted my phone and updated to the lates 4.0.4 im on Rogers wirless and filled the APN settings and im only getting H or 3G and not getting LTE anymore.. can anyone help?? im running clean rom
You need to get the rogers APN for lte and put it in on your settings. I'm on fido and sometimes it takes a few minutes for it to connect to LTE. Here's the settings you can try
APN - ltemobile.apn
Proxy - <not set>
Port - <not set>
Username- <Not set>
Passwors - <not set>
Server < not set>
MMSC - http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
MMS - proxy 10.128.1.69
MMS - Port 80
MMS protocol - Wap 2.0
MCC - 302
MNC - 720
Aythentication type - < not set>
APN type - either "*" or "internet + mms" Should work
Sent from my One X using xda app-developers app
If the above doesn't work try this:
Go into system tuner or ROM manager, backup then edit this build.prop:
ro.telephony.default_network
Change the number to 10 or 11 (that's what worked for me)
Save it and reboot.
Let me know if this works. I'm trying to get some momentum going on this as it seems to be a common problem in my area

[Q]No Data Connection After Update (Consumer Cellular)

I have an AT&T branded Galaxy SII i727 Skyrocket (4G LTE). It is not unlocked, has not been rooted and runs AT&T firmware. The phone was purchased independent of a contract (eBay). I am a very light user, but I find it convenient to have a data plan and initially used AT&T GoPhone prepaid. Phone and SMS worked properly on AT&T right away, but some tweaking was required to get data to work. After a few months, I switched to Consumer Cellular (AT&T MVNO). Again, data did not work at first, but CC's tech support gave me revised Access Point Name settings and all became as it should have been.
Recently (I don't remember exactly when, but it was in early or mid December), I finally gave in to the phone's insistence on updating to a later firmware version. From then on, I have been unable to get data to work at all. the 4G symbol no longer appears (although I doubt it was ever actually a 4G connection) and any App that requires a data connection (web, email, etc) complains about no connection. WiFi, on the other hand, works properly with all such Apps.
Here are the specifics of my phone:
Samsung SGH-I727
Android 4.04
Baseband Version I727UCLI3
Kernel Version:
3.0.8-1127534
[email protected]#1
SMPPREEMPT Thu Sep 27 23:12:45 KST 2012
2012Build number IMM76D.UCLI3
My questions are these:
Has anyone had this sort of problem (data on Consumer Cellular fails after upgrade)? If so, how did you solve it?
Was this problem caused by the upgrade? If not, what other issues might have caused it and how can they be corrected?
How can I revert the firmware to the previous version to confirm the cause and/or resolve it?
What else can I do to get my data connection back?
I am not particularly Android savvy, but I am not shy about making changes in settings and/or installing fixes.
Thanks,
Tenaya

Consumer Cellular APN settings for Skyrocket i727
I recently moved my service from AT&T to Consumer Cellular using my existing Samsung Skyrockets. The new phone signal is identical to that of the old as far as I can tell. (same towers) My issue came when trying to setup my text and data side of my Samsung Skyrocket. The settings provided by CC on their website are incomplete. Be prepared to speak with a 2nd level tech to accomplish all of the connections required on "their" end. Here are the APN settings that are working on my two i727's as of Jan 2014. Both are running 4.1.2
Name: Consumer Cellular
APN: att.mvno
Proxy: "66 . 209 . 11 . 32" (without spaces)
Port: 80
User name: Not set
Pasword: Not set
Server: Not set
MMSC: http :// mmsc . cingular . com (without spaces)
MMS port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication type: PAP
APN type: default,supl,mms,agps,fota
APN protocal: IPv4
Enable/disable APN: APN enabled (check)
Bearer: Unspecified
very helpful for my Skyrocket
Thanks for posting this. I had data working on my AT&T skyrocket, now used with Consumer Cellular, and then it stopped for no apparent reason. I had all the same settings as above, but on my phone the Authentication Type was unspecified or none. I changed it to PAP and now data is back. I don't know if I had never set this before, or if something changed it, but I'm glad it seems to be working again.
always when you format your phone, check the APN settings.
If it isn't configured you won't be able to surf.
happy to hear you fixed the issue.
good while it lasted -30 min

While changing that setting did bring the data connection back to life, it seems to have disappeared again. I'm not sure why. When I turn airplane mode on and then off, data doesn't reconnect. When I reboot the phone it seems to connect after maybe 15 minutes of trying. Could it be a bad sim card? Or maybe should I do a complete reset of the phone? I don't see anyone else reporting these sorts of symptoms, so maybe it is specific to my phone.
Another option for Consumer Cellular APN settings
I just got off the phone (third time in a week) with a tech support person at CC. They said they think they knew the problem. Because the AT&T SGH-I727 skyrocket is 4G LTE capable, a new APN should be set up:
Name: ccilte
APN: ccdata
Proxy: Not set
Port: Not set
Username: Not set
Password: Not set
Server: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
MMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
MMS proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
MMS port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication type: PAP
APN type: default,mms,supl
APN protocol: IPv4
APN roaming protocol: IPv4
I asked a couple of times if they really should be backslashes for Server and MMSC, rather than forward slashes. They insisted they should be backslashes, which is what I put in, and it worked, and then I changed them to forward slashes (which seems more appropriate) and that works too. That was weird, since I'd expect one to fail. So now I seem to get a data connection (it has been almost a day and it hasn't dropped data service). I even went in and out of airplane mode, turned wifi on and off, and data came right back, which never happened before. Hopefully this may help someone else who made the bumpy transition to Consumer Cellular.

[Q] PLEASE HELP! Verizon S3 on Tmobile urgent question

Please forgive me if this has been asked already multiple times, but I can't seem to find any recent answers that help.
I currently have Verizon for service and my wife and I each have the Verizon S3 phones.
A few days ago she had gone to the Tmobile website and saw the cheaper rates and ordered 2 sim cards for Tmobile service and signed up to have our numbers ported. Since then, our phones are not working and Verizon says once they get notified that you are cancelling your account, they automatically shut your phones off and then completely cancel you once the billing period is up, leaving us with no phones at all (we have no landline).
Our Sim cards are set to be delivered Tuesday and I need to know what, if any can be done to at the very least be able to get voice service with the Tmobile cards.
I can find older posts from 2013 about how to dial *#197328640# and go through an unlock procedure, but since my phone was bought August 2013 and now has Android 4.3 running I am also finding answers of people saying basically if you have 4.3 you are out of luck.
I am not new to flashing Roms or anything, I just need to be pointed in the right direction on what can and can't be done, like do I need to load a 4.1 Rom? I'm trying to at least have voice service until I can buy Tmobile phones if needed.
Thank you in advance for any information that can help.

I just changed service to T-mobile, got a micro-sim (full sized won't fit) and inserted it into my rooted Verizon S3 running PacRom 4.3 don't recall which nightly. Go into system settings->mobile networks->apn and confirm that t-mobile apns are present and selected (select one if not) and you should be connected, at least for voice. I currently have voice working, can receive sms/mms but not send and have edge level data connection, my understanding is the appropriate radios for t-mobile LTE aren't in the verizon version.
There are numerous useful threads around here, I'll try and find a few of them and link to them

Once my SIM cards arrived, I just popped one in and it didn't work. I ended up grabbing a friend's phone and plugged in the following APN settings and got everything but MMS messaging (still limited to EDGE data though). I didn't have to root at all, but since then I have rooted and will be adding a custom ROM just to get rid of all the Verizon bloatware

I never did the OTA 4.3, I'd read there was no going back at the time so the OTA upgrade is what prompted me to install a non stock ROM in the first place. So I think I upgraded from 4.1.

[Q] D6603 T-Mobile LTE extremely slow?

I swapped from the D6616 Z3 to the D6603 Z3 because I didn't want to be locked into T-Mobile just incase my family and I end up swapping to AT&T early next year. The issue I'm running into is, I inserted the nano-sim and messaging/calls work on the D6603, but data didn't. I looked all over and did the following:
Settings->"more" (under the wireless/network) -> internet settings and connected to TMobile. The APN appears "T-Mobile Data" now. Internet connects, woohoo!
The issue I'm running into is, the LTE appears, and it is now connected to the internet, but it EXTREMELY slow. Speed test shows .15-.20 MBPS whereas before I was getting 8-9 in the exact same spot. I swapped the sim back to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and I'm getting faster speeds on "HSPA".
Any ideas or a different way to connect the D6603 model to T-mobile's data?
What is the APN?

I'm using the D6603 on AT&T, and LTE is quick. I think each of those phones have different bands. The D6616 is the T-Mobile model and the 6603 has AT&T bands. I think a lot of the LTE bands overlap though... Maybe LTE is slow in your area? Does your service show up as LTE at the top by the signal?
Also, go to your quick settings menu in the notification pulldown menu. There should be a box for "LTE". Tap and hold it and click on network settings. You can change the preferred network mode and see if the HSPA is faster

Try to set the "APN protocol:" to IPv4/ IPv6 instead of just IPv6. See if it will be any better.
Did what both of your advices. First, I switched it to HSPA, speed test hit 5-6mbps. Re-connected to LTE afterwards and it hit 10-12mbps. Loads webpages just fine, and was able to play games.
Then went and swapped the IPv6 to IPv4/6 and I clocked 16mbps twice.
Not sure what else happened or what caused it to work randomly after going from LTE->HSPA->LTE, but it worked.
Went and installed the nillkin screen protectors as well, and I must say, it is a great upgrade from my old samsung galaxy nexus. Thank you for the help guys!

APN for Faster Data on Metro PCS
I sometimes used dual stacking on my previous Galaxy Alpha because it was a factory unlocked Samsung but did not have the software programming to function as a VOLTE Device on Metro or TMO .
I also used the MVNO Setting of 6d38 which I assume came from the SIM Card .
I just got a Tmobile new paid for phone not locked to a contract to use on Metro PCS which functions as a Metro Phone - always on 4GLTE always simultaneous voice and data - the Alpha did that on H+ and sometimes H but never on 3G and it would drop to 3 G sometimes to take calls.
Unlocked Phones can be band jumpers just change bands while laying on a table for no reason lol.
Anyway I have 2 to 4 bars of LTE everywhere on S9
BUT would like faster data .
I never heard of 'fota ' before as that string of settings you posted.
How much did your data speed up ?
I have great SOT on this phone - it puts every App to sleep lol.
And the Audio is like I have been wishing for ever since cell phones came out - but faster would be cool - on Alpha I had 3 APN Settings stored and switched between them sometimes...
