Samsung Galaxy S7 - dm-verity verification failed - can't Odin. - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hello all,
I was wondering if someone would be able to provide any guidance on my issue.
Last night I went to uninstall root and so I used the SuperSU app - and hit the Unroot option - phone restarted and is now stuck in bootloop. I have tried to restore the original firmware via Odin, however the phone does not get detected. I have explored the possibility of a driver issue of some sort as my PC will detect the phone if it's powered off and connected. It detects it as an MTP device. When I try use the Volume Up + Home + Power button to access download mode the phone does not detect, and my PC does not show any device connected to it. I have tried Kies3 and a reinstallation of the Samsung drivers but Odin still does not recognise it.
When I start my phone up using VolUp+Home+PWR mode my phone looks like this:

Apologies for the potato quality camera, it was taken on my tablet. The yellow header text says:
"Android Recovery

samsung/heroltexx/herolte
6.0.1/MMB29K/G930FXXS1APG

Use volume up/down and power."
1. Reboot system now - this puts me in bootloop if used
2. Reboot to bootloader - bootloop as above
3. Apply Update from ADB - Update from external storage is disabled
4. Apply Update from SD Card - Update from external storage is disabled
5. Wipe data/factory reset - Works OK
6. Wipe Cache Partition - Works OK
7. Mount /system - Mounted /system - have tried mounting system then rebooting, however bootloop still.
8. View Recovery Logs - OK
9. Power OFF - OK
I would appreciate any advice on how to resolve this issue, I think that if I can get it to interface with Odin I might be able to restore. TIA.

Hi mate
Unroot sometimes fails..as you noticed....to fix it you have to get into download mode , sometimes is tricky , keep trying until you get it , is a timing issue ( boot image is corrupted ) , just try several times...once in , flash stock firmware......

Troubleshooting
If you boot in stock recovery, after flashing CWM Recovery, you have to:
- download Root Browser from Play Store
- rename file install-recover.sh to install-recovery.sh.bak in /system/etc folder of your phone
I suggest using this CWM recovery to root your phone ONLY. This version is not fully compatible with Android 4.2.2

You have a different partitions table. I think you have a different version of s7580 (GT-S7580E or GT-S7580L (Remove the battery from your phone, and the model is printed on the white label inside) or a different rom. Please digit *#1234# and tell me AP/CP/CSC version
Now we wait so we can flash an custom rom on this phone!

[Q] HELP! Did I just render my phone useless??

I installed an app called Chainfire on my LG Optimus L9 last night, which runs on Jelly Bean (a no, no for this app, but I didn't know)) and it stopped booting normally. It turns on fine, but when the LG logo shows up it just stays stuck there now.
I have CWM v6.0.1.2 on there, so I booted into it and noticed that I never did any backups (another no, no.), so it's seemingly of no use to me. I asked a few people on another forum and was told my only option was to do a wipe data/factory reset, which I did. I needed a fresh ROM install, I was told, and I was provided with the following instructions:
There's a guide to clockwork here. If you can't boot the handset into Android, you'll need to access the SD Card within Clockwork. Boot into CWM again and plug the phone into the PC. Within Clockwork, Select Mounts & Storage, then Mount USB Storage. If this works, you should see an external drive appear in your PC.
Leave the phone for now, then head over to here and download the file called LeeDroid HD V3.2.1 (FTP). Once this has downloaded, place the zip file into the root of the phones SD Card. Once copied, go back to the phone again and head back to clockworks main menu. Select Wipe Cache, let it do it's thing, then Wipe Data/Factory Reset (this probably isn't that important). You then want to head to Install zip from SD Card, Choose Zip and then navigate to the zip file you just copied. Select it, then confirm. Let it do it's thing, highlight Reboot Now and it should boot in to Android!

My problem now is in not being able to access or mount USB storage as I have nothing there. I have the phone connected to my PC via USB, but I can't access my SD card.
I think I really screwed up. Is there still anyway to get my phone working again? I'm completely lost here, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Great......I tried tinkering around with some options in CWM and now I can't even get back into CWM during boot. There's no more flashing lights prompting me to enter recovery mode (or whatever it's called) and now the LG logo pops up, stays there for a few seconds and then goes to a screen with an dead looking Android figure lying on its back with a red exclamation point....
[email protected]!#....my life....:crying:
try using adb to flash a new ROM and/or recovery. that's a true last ditch attempt at flashing things. it will work. next time, don't use CVM, use TWRP, if it available for your device, and have a backup ROM/ ROM .zip available next time, so this doesn't happen again.

I'm trying to push a stock ROM onto the phone right now with adb using the following command:
adb push rom.zip /sdcard
but it keeps returning an error message of "permission denied".
What am I doing wrong?
And I also noticed that I can't boot in to the stock recovery mode either. Whenever I try, it takes me to a screen with an upright Android icon with a blue spinning hexagonal shape, the screen goes black and then it self boots back to the LG logo and stays there or reboots again. So I can't get into recovery mode.....

Confused
Hello,
I am confused on this part of the steps:
6. Press 2 Download
7. Once pressed connect the terminal to the pc "OFF"
I press download, on the step 7. does that mean connect the USB cable from the PC to the phone? What does it mean by "OFF"?
After I press Download and have the USB cable plugged into the phone with the phone on and unlocked nothing happens Please help!
(USB Debugging enabled, device is listed in adb devices, and I can access storage and SD card)
Install any drivers, okay?
Select only the recovery in flashtools. Tighten download. Then connect the phone off the usb. The flash will install the recovery. Then see if the recovery has been successfully installed. And install the root by recovery.
Drivers installed ok. I selected only recovery in flashtools, and clicked download, and then plugged in USB.
Should I use USB debugging?
Should I use "USB Storage" or "Media device (MTP)" or "Camera (PTP)"?
Thank you!

Got it!
I figured it out
Here's the steps I did:
1. Install ADB from here rubenalamina.mx/download/525/
2. Install drivers provided in the original post here.
3. Reboot PC.
4. Open command prompt with administrator privileges, and type: cd c:\adb
5. Then type: adb devices
6. Open flashtool provided in the original post here.
7. Select scatter file as described in the post here, and clicked download.
8. While flash tool is running the "download", plug in phone with USB cable and restart the phone and it will work, with an OK window at the end like described in the original post here.
9. Unplug the USB cable, reboot phone and hold volume up key as described in original post.
10. Install SuperSU as described in the original post here.
DONE!
Anyone try this successfully?
Thanks for the guide.
It worked for me smoothly, many thanks!

Nope, no impact on data.
Actually you don't see a difference except that root apps ask for permission (SuperSU pops up)
Btw: I just installed supersu via recovery, not busybox as described sometimes.
Sucessfully did it just yesterday.
Bluboo Xtouch doesn`t turn on after trying root
Hi,
After I've tried to root nothing happened on the flashing tool, so I've tried pressing volume up + power button and my pc just did a sound of plugin a cable and nothing happened in my phone, so I've tried to turn my phone on and it didn't work. I've tried pressing a lot of combinations trying to turn it on with no success. Can someone help me? I don't know what to do anymore since my battery is no removable.
Don't work

Some help ?
/system/xbin/su how to remove this
Hi
I'm trying to install a enterprise app but during the install I got a "policy violation", because my device is considered rooted, since under /system/xbin there is a "su" file.
I already did a upgrade to last version from (room) Jan 12th 2016, but the /system/xbin/su persists... I think this is because it is a maufacturer built room from Bluboo but the true is I'm unbale to install the enterprise app. I already try to delete / rename/ move the su file, but I don't have permissions...
I don't want to root the device.... maybe install an official "android 5.1" but I'm afraid to do it, and I don't know how to do it...
so anybody have a suggestion how to fix this issue ?
Many thanks

RECOVERY and STOCK FIRMWARE
Here is the link to the Stock Firmware that you can flash with SP Flash tools if something goes wrong.
Thanks to AndroidMediatekRecoveryDevelopment, we have a recovery for our device! CTR 6.6 to be exact. It is available here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=673368273298930861
How to Root
1) Download the latest SuperSU zip from http://www.supersu.com and move to external SD card
2) Flash Recovery using SP Flash Tools
3) Boot into Recovery immediately by holding Power and Volume up button on phone (IMPORTANT! Otherwise the phone will replace the custom recovery with the stock recovery)
4) Install the SuperSu zip
5) Reboot

do I have to make a scatter file to flash the recovery? and not use any other scatter file? by the way I am trying to root my blu studio G d790q so I could use a ram extender. I tried to use a scatter file from a stock rom I downloaded from this http://www.needrom.com/download/blu-studio-g-d790q/
--Basically this is what I have done--
-> launched SP tools
-> clicked `choose scatter file` (MT6580_Android_scatter.txt)
-> unchecked everything except recovery and browsed to my downloaded ctr-6.6-d790q.img
-> click download
-> connected my powered off device and while the bar below seems to be 100 it was color red and it says something have changed and I should download a file which I wasn't able to note down
-> I tried pressing down volume + power but it showed me `Factory mode` I guess its not the ctr one so I just chose `reboot`
-> found my date changed to `January 1` after reboot but I fixed it by just calibrating 'automatic time zone' and everything is good again.
Just need some clarification on flashing this recovery so I can root it properly thanks for the help! Cheers!
one more thing isn't it volume up + power to boot to recovery?

do I have to make a scatter file to flash the recovery? and not use any other scatter file? by the way I am trying to root my blu studio G d790q so I could use a ram extender. I tried to use a scatter file from a stock rom I downloaded from this http://www.needrom.com/download/blu-studio-g-d790q/
--Basically this is what I have done--
-> launched SP tools
-> clicked `choose scatter file` (MT6580_Android_scatter.txt)
-> unchecked everything except recovery and browsed to my downloaded ctr-6.6-d790q.img
-> click download
Cheers!

Did you make sure to plug in the phone with the battery taken out?
I did remove battery,
This time I also installed unsigned drivers for mtk for windows 10 64bit , also rebooted PC on startup to make it accept unsigned drivers (option 7) redo the process but now it took a bit of time to get that bar at 100 but still red it came up with a failed error
here are the two screenshots for each failed attempt
Upon further playing with it and being patient, i think it looks like somethings wrong with my current stock rom in a way that it is different from the stock scatter file which I am using, I tried downloading mtk droid tools and it showed me this
any ideas?

Sorry for the late reply,
V22 is the stock ROM the D790Q ships with. Unfortunately, the only stock ROM is V16. That may be the issue why you cannot flash the recovery, you have to format all and download the whole V16 stock ROM.
For some reason, you cannot update to V22 from V16 so I was not able to test the recovery on V22.

First off these guys got you backwards that's why your stuff doesn't work.. On BLU its VOL UP to enter recovery.. not VOL DOWN as mr qinagong suggests.
As you can see from your screenshot it says format+download.. Choose the other option and it will work. If SP doesn't work on download choose DLOAD+FORMAT, if it doesn't work on that. choose the opposite. Also battery should be IN ! Ignore the people who say it should be out. Turn off phone, begin download or download + format and wait a second or two and then insert USB cable.

Wow, I didn't think people actually read this thread
You're right on the volume button part. I will change that. I've always removed the battery, plugged in the usb, and reinserted the battery and it has worked for me.
Sent from my Q5 using XDA Free mobile app
Ops Stock Rom link is a paid membership site $3 per month. I managed to find a mirror for D790Q 6.0 stock. I know its an old thread but just in case anyone needs this and gets stuck because of OPS suggestive subscription link.

7.Now click on the Start button in Odin. Installation process will start and would take a few minutes to complete.
8.When odin shows PASS u can remove cable and press Volume down + Power key to force reboot until u see black screen (If it boots then twrp will be gone u need to start the whole process again )Once it does, you need to let go of the Volume Down button and hold the Volume Up button while still pressing the other listed buttons. This will boot the phone into Recovery mode and you should now see TWRP. You will see TWRP no excuses.
9.Now is the best part if anything goes wrong you are literally Fished and I mean it. The screen will be for making TWRP permanent do these steps or your phone won't boot P.S. you can fix any Samsung phone very simply so don't worry
Do these --Select Keep /system RO. Tap Wipe> Format Data and type “yes”.
All what I said is there in screen so do these things perfectly u just need to read everything properly
10. Now go back to the main menu in TWRP and select Reboot> Recovery . Select don't install TWRP app it's annoying I know u can disable it in settings option in twrp
11. After rebooting recovery flash force encryption remover that u downloaded and then after Tap the Install button in TWRP, navigate to the location where you copied the the no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0.zip and select it. Swipe the installation confirmation slider when prompted
12.Now go back to the main menu in TWRP and select Reboot> Recovery
13.When the device reboots into TWRP, tap the Install option, navigate to the Magisk-v15.3.zip and install it. Or the latest magisk zip file
Magisk will now be installed on your device and it will be rooted the next time you boot it up. If not installed download magisk manager and install APK when you boot up to system
When the flashing is complete, tap Reboot> system.
Congratulations! Your new Samsung Galaxy C7PRO is now out of warranty… err… rooted. Open Magisk to verify if your phone has been properly rooted or not.
