Can't install any app, error -505 in play store - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello
I have problem with my s6, everything was fine till yesterday. I tried to update apps and google play store showed ERROR -505. Now I can't install anything even from sd card. I tried to clean cache from play store, google services, download manager. I unninalled updates of google services and play store, deleted google account, reflashed rom (w/o wiping data), cleaned cache in recovery but problem still occur. When I try install app from .apk I can't. Even google services and google play store can't update itselves. I'm on CleanandSimple rom v6 (so it's almost stock) for like month with no problems.
I could just make clean flash, but I can't install any app (like titanium backup) to make backup so I must fix this somehow
Anyone got some idea?

Back to stock, dude.
It's quite evident that it's a ramdom bug of your Rom.

As I said, I can't clean flash till I backup all my apps. If I wanted clean flash I wouldn't ask here

I'm having the same problem with my S7 G930F running the Hydra ROM 1.4 (Note 7 ROM). The problem just appeared today out of nowhere.
I am working on fixing it and will revert back with a solution hopefully.

I tried downloading the latest Play Store version from apkmirror and installing it manually from the SD card but the installation failed so we are in the same boat! I posted the problem over at the ROM's thread and waiting for an answer.

Solution: It's Lucky Patcher. Uninstall it and you're good to go.

Yes there seems to be a google issue with both doedex & odex version of 4.6.5
I installed the odex version after a full wipe, all installs ok but during setup wizard the "GooglePartnerSetup" stops which is needed to add a google account. Went through the rest of setup and as you say everything else is working fine but cannot connect to play store as I cannot add a google account.
On the doedex version, Installs fine, setup is fine and I can add google account as the "GooglePartnerSetup" does not get stopped, however once the tab boots "Google.Process.Gapps" stops and cannot connect to play store. Flashing the "Multi DPI Play Store v4.1.10 patch" in the CROMi-X OP fixed this issue on the deodex version but does not fix on the odex version as there is still no google account.
Have not tried yet but on odex you could try wiping data & cache for "GooglePartnerSetup" reboot and see if you can add google account, the flash the patch or flash the deodex version then the patch.
First of all, thanks for taking time to answer pjc21

I confirm that this workaround is not working at all in the situation we were both of us on ODEX BUT, and that's the good part, i did manage to get the Google Play Store working with your suggestion (flashing 'Multi DPI Play Store v4.1.10' file attached to the CROMi-Xenogenesis thread from the DEV section) as a guideline; i proceeded like this :
-> full wipe from recovery
-> batch flash of the CROMi-Xenogenesis ODEX ROM and the Google Play Store v4.1.10 from recovery
-> cache / dalvik wipe from recovery
-> reboot
-> adding google account skipped during the initial first boot setup process
-> tablet running 10 min to stabilize ROM when running it for the first time
=> then i added my google account without any issue and Play Store is working now !
Thanks a lot pjc21
Best Regards
NB : I flashed Asus stock kernel v10.6.1.15.3 during ROM installation ...
Not seeing it

Not sure why others are having these issues, but I have been running 4.6.5 deodex since it's release and had no trouble whatsoever setting up a google account and accessing Play Store. Didn't have to flash any patches to get it working. This morning I downloaded and installed AnTuTu without problems. Perhaps it is the DPI selection when installing? I chose the standard DPI (160 I believe?).

I chose 160 dpi too, think it could be weather you do full wipe (wiping dalvik-cache, system, cache & data) or not - did you do full wipe flash or just flash (wiping cache & dalvik-cache)?

When I did the initial upgrade from Stock to CROMI-X (4.0) I did a full wipe. But every update since I believe I have only wiped dalvik-cache and cache. I know for certian that is the case since 4.4.
Possibly it's also affected by which kernel is chosen. I've always picked stock then flashed Hundsbauh's after everything is setup, again doing only a minimal wipe.
a dirty flash of the deodexed works fine but i did a full wipe and had the same problem and pjc21 told me to do this and it worked fine for me too although i had to flash the 4.6.4 play store patch to get candy crush working properly now everything is fine
Yes I know what the issue is. The version that in use for the tf300 is patched by elesbb but it only works reliably if you dirty flash it over a normal version and then wipe Google play store and Google play services AND resign into your Google account.
Basically a royal pain in the arse all to get candy crush saga working.....
So what I will be doing in the next version is just offering the regular multi-dpi version and if you want candy crush saga to work either email them and ask them to stop offering two versions of the same app or use the seperate apk I provide and jump through the hoops above.
In the mean time flash the patched version in the first post if you are having issues and resign into your Google account if that doesn't fix it.

It seems that you are running a MOD Play Store?
I have 4 different recommendations, try them, might they help you.
1.Do Factory Format, and while startup, Make sure to uncheck the BACKUP YOUR APP DATA AND SETTINGS and after giving your E-mail address.
2. Try to remove existing account and add another account on Play Store. ( Remove old one completely )
Then Reboot and add your previous account, check if play store is fine or not.
3. Check whether you are using a PROXY, if yes then remove it from going to APN (Access point Name)
4. If nothing works, try to Flash a JB 4.2.2 GAPPS while going into CMW recovery (wipe cache and Dalvik cache too, before flashing gapps)
Done, Hope one will work.

[HELP] I broke my Google Play Store and can't fix it

Hi XDA,
I noticed on APKMirror that a new version of the Google Play Store was released (5.10.29/30), so I tried to install them, which all went with no problems.
Than I tried to update an app in the Play Store, when after clicking the "Update" button my Google Play Store immediately crashed.
Alright, I removed Google Play Store using Titanium Backup, this might be the biggest mistake of them all (I must have used to "remove updates" from the Settings > Apps menu)
After removing 5.10.29/30 I decided to install 5.9.12 again, because that one was working fine for me.
Installed that, hit the Google Play Store, smacked the Update All button, and boom, crashed again.
At this point I went to Settings > Apps > Google Play Store > Remove all Data
Went to the Store again, update all, crash...
I have also wiped my Download Manager Data
Also I disabled AdAway, since some hosts file might mess with it...
Ok, I have a Xposed Module "PlayPermissionsExposed", disabled that, reboot, try again, still crash...
Tried wiping the data of the Google Play Store again... Nope...
The Play Store gets as far as;
Opening the Play Store
Accepting the App Permissions
Downloading.... CRASH
And, after this crash, I can't even open the Play Store anymore, just gives me a force-close.
I really hope someone can help me to fix this issue, since I really don't feel like reinstalling my device again.
Talking about my device, I am using:
Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505
Rom: Google Play Edition by danvdh
who even needs to google play store when you have apkmirror

just boot into recovery, wipe cache and dalvic, then flash the gapps you used when flashing the rom. dont wipe any data!.
if that doesnt work, try flashing the rom too. worst case you might loose any mods you made to the system, but data will be fine as long as you dont wipe it.

Thank you, my ROM did not came with a flashable gapps package, so I just wiped only the Dalvik cache.
Too bad, that did not solve the issue...
I am re-flashing my rom right now, without wiping anything, hope that solved the issue, will report back later

Error 504 when installing applications from Google Play

I am stumped on this one. When I try to install Evernote, Google Play returns a 504 error. No matter what I do, I cannot get installed. Here is what I have tried:
Cleared cache on:
Google Play Store, Download Manager, Google Play Services. Cleared system cache
Removed google account, readded, no luck.
Tried to sideload by downloading 2 different versions of Evernote. Same result, App not installed. Tried installing from Amazon store, same result.
Nuclear option, reset device, installed as first application. Same result! From factory reset, removed any extra apps that came with the application. No luck.
I've read this could be a lollipop issue with duplicate permissions.
My question is, has anyone else been able to install Evernote? Any additional suggestions anyone can think of?
Thanks!
There are a few apps that just will not install on the Pure XL. I am waiting to see when a software update will be downloaded.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
I am also unable to install Evernote.
Whats sad is that you cant contact Evernote unless you are a premium member. All this did was push me solely towards Keep. Even less chance of me becoming a premium member now. Lol
I have same issue trying to install Risk for Chromecast ... or pretty much any chromecast ready Hasbro game ... well no monopoly for my kids

You got a system update? or you are just waiting for it?
Since we have root now, you may be able to "trick" Google Play to install it by changing your Device Name within your build.prop file.
I think the entries that need editing are:
ro.build.product
ro.product.model
ro.product.device

Had to Factory Reset....Now Google Wallet won't install........

So I was working fine on Marshmallow MMB29K, rooted, with Xposed, and Franco Kernel r78. Google Wallet was installed and working fine. Just sent money with it yesterday. I kept getting messages my device was low on space which made no sense since I don't have many very large apps and not many pictures. I discovered my device was suffering from the Bug that Google still hasn't fixed where 32 GB devices only show 16 gb of storage. I had to reflash to the stock recovery over TWRP and then do a Factory reset on the device to get Android to see my other 16 GB of space. So since I had to do this anyway when I reflashed the stock recovery, I just went ahead flashed MMB29S build to have the latest security updates. Rebooted device, did a factory reset, and then verified all my space was showing up in the new MMB29S installation. Restored all my apps via the play store and restored backed up data for some of the apps from my Titanium Backup. Finally, go everything back in order with the exception of Google Wallet. I am now on MMB29S with SuperSU 2.66 flashed, Xposed and Franco kernel re-installed and working good. For whatever reason Google Wallet will not install on my device. It downloads fine from the Play Store but fails the install with error (-506), Google Wallet could not be installed.............and then displays a very unhelpful troubleshooting link. I have tried to download the latest Google Wallet apk, version 12 via apkmirror and manually install it, but that install fails saying my device doesn't have enough free space! WTH? I"m currently using only 9 of 26.x gb. I tried clearing data and cache for the Play Store app, but that didn't help. All other apps install just fine. I also tried uninstalling the Xposed Installer app and disable SuperSu via it's GUI. (I don't think this is the issue because the app should install fine, just might have issues working with root). I REALLY do not want to do a full unroot since I just got everything else working, as I don't think this is going to fix the installation issue I'm seeing. I can find no trace of error -506 via a google search. Any idea how to fix this and get Google Wallet to install on my device? I'm about ready to pull my hair out on this one.
In case anybody else runs into this issue, I was able to resolve it by using root explorer to browse to the data/data folder from root and located the folder for the Google Wallet app. After deleting that folder I was able to successfully re-install wallet from the play store. Must have been caused by a failed Titanium backup data restore or something.
