TMo Gear S3 and Verizon S7 Edge - Samsung Gear S3

Trying to figure out the calling features.
So, I have downloaded the Gear App on my S7. Under the Gear settings I have set up the call forwarding to send calls to my Gear S3. So far, this seems correct. Now when I call from another phone my S7 Edge rings while my Gear S3 rings. OK, fine. Then the S7 stops ringing and the Gear S3 stops for a few seconds. All of a sudden the Gear S3 starts ringing again. I let the call go to voicemail but the TMo voicemail never picks up. Am I missing something here?

Have you set up voicemail on the gear s3?

I have it set up now... I enabled Google voicemail for the watch. Tested that and it worked. Then I disabled that and let the TMo voicemail take over. It worked for some reason. Now the dillema is do I use the TMo voicemail or Google Voicemail? Issue is there is no way to retrieve Google voicemail on the watch?

Are you sure you're on LTE when the call comes in and not Bluetooth? For me when on LTE, my phone will ring a bunch of times, then when it seems like voicemail should pick up, the call finally comes in on the watch. Makes call forwarding pretty unusable.

Calls not being forwarded to the Gear S2

Hi. Ive just added the $5 wearable plan to my account, but calls are not being forwarded to the Gear S2. I have set the option in the app on my S7 Edge to forward calls when remotely connected. Here is a summary of what happens:
Devices connected via bluetooth: When I call my phone line, both the phone and Gear S2 ring, and I can take the call from either
Gear S2 in standalone mode: When I call the Gear S2 number, the watch rings
Devices remotely connected (bluetooth on phone switched off): Gear S2 says it is remotely connected, and that calls are being forwarded. However, when I call my phone line, only the phone rings rather than the Gear S2
Can anyone help resolve this issue? Both the app on my phone and the Gear S2 have the correct number for the watch. I have logged the problem with T-mobile and so am waiting for tech support to get back to me. It seems unlikely that this is a problem with the device since everything else works, and is more likely to be a network issue

You have 2 differents phone number ?
Call forward works with 2 SIM and 2 differents phone number. You forward your phone Number to the Gear Phone number.

I have 2 different numbers: 1 for the phone and one for the gear. I have set the Gear app to forward calls, and the gear confirms that calls are being forwarded when in the remote connection state. But no calls are being forwarded - thi is my issue

If you call are forwarded your phone do not ring. If it ring, it mean that call are not forwarded.
Try to find the UUI code for forward call and tap the code on your phone app dialer pad, or use Android phone setting to forward your call. Gear app use standard code for forward but this do not work with all operator. Forward call is an operator feature and not related to one specific app (Gear manager or other)

Sounds like you have t-mobile correct? If so the phone has to be on for the phone to forward calls to the watch. If the phone is off it will not work. The way it works is if you get out of bluetooth range it will forward calls to the watch
Yes, I'm on tmobile and the phone is on. Even though I have call forwarding set in the app, maybe there is a setting on the network side? I don't want to have to manually enter codes each time I want to forward/ stop forwarding so hopefully I can resolve the issue and just use the setting in the Gear app. Thanks

well there is a setting on the watch to turn call forwarding on. Maybe you should try that but other than that i would call t-mobile thats all i have turned on and it works

Has anyone got the call forwarding to work on Tmo?

FIrst time gear LTE user here. Call forwarding does not seem to be working for me. In the the Gear app i put the new phone # for my Gear S3 under the ""number setting" field and turn it on. Then I disconnect BT by turning it off on the phone. The watch goes into stand alone T-mobile mode with good lTE strength. I then get a message on the watch that says "calls are not being forwarded to Gear Tap OK to try again", and I do and the message comes up again immediately.
So am i missing something? Did I skip a step? There are no instructions on this in the manual...
Any help appreciated.

Not sure if it just takes time. I got my Gear S3 yesterday and had that same message. Today, I hadn't changed anything and it is working correctly now.
Ok- I found I just was not waiting long enough for it to forward, but it does eventually forward to the watch, and if you miss the call on your watch the call will go to your watch VM.

Google Voice?

So before I got my S3 today, everytime someone calls and I ignore it , it goes straight to the google voice voicemail and not T-mobile's voicemail service. Now that I connected my S3 and I have auto call forwarding, when I don't answer the call on both my phone and then on my S3, it goes to T-mobile voicemail. My ideal scenario would be to go from Phone --> S3 --> Google Voice. I've tried to play around with the call forwarding numbers but can't seem to find the right combo. I've tried to change the voicemail number on the S3 but it's grayed out so I can't. Anybody know how to get this to work?
Add the gear number to google voice and then click the activate voicemail link. It will give you the dialing instructions to set up the forward to VM.

I've already done this. I can get google voice to answer if I'm just calling my phone's number or if I'm calling my S3 number. The problem happens when I connect these two together so that I can have my calls that come in from my phone to also show up on my S3. In order to do that, I have to turn on Auto Call forwarding in the Gear S3 app on the phone which in turn also turns it on on the S3. That's when everything messes up. That's when I can't get it to go to Google Voice anymore.
Samsung gear s3 is a tizen os that is created by Samsung its not Android. Google provide support for android, ios not tizen may be in the future we can get google voice officially but its hard to get because Samsung have s voice.

So let me make sure I understand. Calls to you GV# ring to your cellphone and S3 simultaneously via call forwarding. But you also give out your cellphone #, and you want calls to that # to ring to the S3 also. But doing that bypasses the GV system, so it goes to carrier voicemail. This same problem would exist even if the secondary device were another smartphone.
I don't know how what you're trying to do can be accomplished except perhaps through NumberSync, which I'm not familiar with. As you probably know, this problem is nonexistent if you go "all in" with GV and don't give out any other number.

I am in the same boat, I just want the my phone to forward calls to the watch when i am in remote connection (which it already does) but if i dont answer I want my the voicemail left on GV and not my watches number. I think that part can be accomplished the problem is when the watch reconnects to the phone and call forward is turned off on the phone it sets the defualt call forward back to tmobile voicemail and not my GV number. How can we stop this from happening?
If you are using GV there is no need to use call forwarding on the phone/carrier. From a GV perspective, all devices are independent. Incoming calls to your GV number are forwarded to your watch number and your cellphone number (as specified on the GV settings website). Both devices will ring simultaneous, and if you don't answer on either device, it goes to GV voicemail (as specified by the **004*phone number# code).
GV functions the same regardless of how the watch is connected to a smartphone. Remote connection vs standalone effects the pass thru of notifications, and has no impact on GV.
If you have your phone and gear activated on Google Voice, there is an option in GV that will do just what I think you're wanting.
After activating both devices on Google Voice go into Google Voice settings>Edit (your phone)>Show advanced settings>then under Forwarding Options click "Ring my other phones before going to voicemail" and save.
Now go to Edit (Gear S3)>Show advanced settings>then under Forwarding Options click "Go straight to voicemail" and save.
What this does for me is: when my Gear S3 is bluetooth disconnected from my phone, any unanswered call that comes to my phone will be forwarded to my Gear S3. If the call makes it to my Gear S3, and I don't answer the call it will go to my Google Voice voicemail.

I am having the same problem as everyone else. Before I do this, does it only work if someone calls your GV #? I don't give out that number to anyone, I just use it for the voicemail feature because it texts and emails it to me.
So what I am looking for is when someone calls my cell phone, it rings on both (even if connected by bluetooth) . If it is a number I don't know I don't answer and if they leave a message I want it to go to my GV voicemail, not my S3 voicemail.
I should also mention I did the **004* option and when I looked at the voicemail number, it was still the old one. I did test this and it did still go to the S3 voicemail.
My husband got this for me for Christmas and I am not as happy with it as I was with my S2 Neo.

I hate to say that this did not work for me. But we did find something that did. On my phone, we put the GV # in the call forwarding busy, unanswered and unreachable. That seem to do it.
Note: I do have my have my forwarding on for my S3. Maybe that's why the GV option didn't work for me.

If you want both devices to ring simultaneously, whether bluetooth connected or both in stand alone modes, then you have to use your GM # as your primary number. I didn't do this because that means I would have to change all of my primary #'s for everyone who has my phone number. Both devices have to have "forward unanswered calls" set to forward to Google Voice.
I don't know of a way to have both devices ring simultaneously without using you GV # as your primary number.

This works perfectly! Now i don't have to deal with multiple voicemail's to check and my phone isn't constantly resetting the GV settings when the damn auto call forwad feature is turned off and on

To go off of this.. Make sure you go into the gear app on your phone and turn off auto call forwarding inside the gear app. Now this works for me connected watch to phone and when I'm away from my phone.
I wanted to do this because the call forwarding sucked as I would always get messages saying calls are not being forwarded via the stock gear settings.

I have ATT gear s3 frontier paired with unlocked US variant of Note 8. My trouble is with calls forwarding to watch after the bluetooth connection is lost. The Gear app is unable to setup call forwarding after the bluetooth connection is lost. I cannot believe that this issue linger from the Gear S days. I used to have Gear S with this issue (that i need to salvage on ebay), then i promptly returned Gear S2 because of the same issue ... I must be crazy buying the third iteration of the watch ... Only to discover that the call forwarding still doesn't work.
Anybody knows how to fix this issue? By the way, i do not use NumberSync because my Note 8 is non ATT branded phone, hence missing the advanced LTE services.

Works on the T-Mobile variant with no issues. T-Mobile phone and T-Mobile watch.

Anybody with ATT service and that has call forwarding from cell to watch working?

S3 Frontier takes over outgoing Whatsapp calls

Hi,
I have my S3 Frontier paired with my Galaxy Note 10.
When I make a Whatsapp voice call on the Note the watch takes over the call.
Does anyone have an idea of how can I prevent this?
Found the setting in the Wearables app under notifications:-
I had "Show while using phone" turned on.
The problem has returned.
Any other users experiencing this?

Hey I have the same issue. Note 10 plus and gear s3 frontier. Simce November only. Also, my outgoing whatsapp voice calls over mobile data drops around 1 minute. Is that happening to you as well? This is so frustrating.

Found the answer.
When you start the Whatsapp Voice call Bluetooth is automatically enabled.
You'll see the Bluetooth emblem at the bottom of the screen.
Just tap it and the problem goes away.
Yes but do you think that's the reason why the calls drop? Do you face the same issue on mobile data?
Also, what changed in November? Everything was fine before for me. I had the watch before and whatsapp weren't playing on the watch. Now it plays and I can also accept whatsacalls from the watch itself
