My z3 is rooted. I want to change the default File Commander to ES explorer.
I have uninstalled file commander system app as well still unable to set ES explorer as default app for browsing file/manager.
Where do we need to make changes?

I recently rooted my Inspire and loaded CM7.2 RC1 and I was just trying to increase my download speeds by editing the build.prop file. I'm using explorer v1.1 to get to the system folder and then editing the build.prop file using the text editor. When in explorer it says r/w and I can actually edit the file and save it but it never seems to actually save the changes even though it says it did. I tried using mount/system(rw/ro) to ensure that it was actually mounted but I am getting the same result. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
ES file explorer
Hi, I use the es file explorer, when you open it up hit "menu" scroll to bottom and make sure both root settings boxes are checked, then restart app. You should be good to go.
I recommend ROM Toolbox. It has a root file explorer and many other tools which come in handy on a rooted phone.
I used ES File Manager to edit a .ini file in data/data/org.gaeproxy (a proxy app) and then changed its permission from rw-rw-rw- to r--r--r-- after saving it.
After I opened the app, I checked the property of the .ini file using ES File Manager and was shocked to find the Last Modified field was updated to the right moment when I opened the app. And the editing I made to the file was gone. It seemed to me that the app had overrided the read-only permission of the file and edited its content.
But then I supprisingly found that I was able to modify the same file and save the change while it's still read-only. How is this even possible?
Both ES File Manager and the .ini file have been granted superuser permissions. Is this a possible cause? I've found this annoying problem across different devices and different ROMs. So I think there might be something I need to know about the file permission system in Android.
How can I make this .ini file truly read-only even to the app using it?
Hi,
ES File Explorer behaves in a strange way with Android task switching : when you open a file with ES File Explorer, it shows up inside ES File Explorer window instead of showing up in a separate window like any other app do.
I have joint a screenshot of the problem: you can see that ES File Explorer is opening the app (Doninn app here, but it is valid for any app, even stock Android app, like Gallery ) inside its own ES File Explorer window, instead of just opening the corresponding app in a different window. Here the .m4a music file is opened inside ES File Explore.
The current behavior is seriously limiting the possibilities of ES FIle Explorer: how can I browse to another file .m4a file while listening to the 1st .m4a app?
Best regards, Chris
Can anyone with ES File Explorer installed, check if they have the same behavior?
just open any file from ES File Explorer and take a screenshot of Android task switching.
Hi there, very basically I want to use Solid Explorer as my default file explorer app but no defaults exist in either the default manager or Solid Explorer.
The device is a rooted Lenovo YT3-X50F (Yoga tab 10) running Android 6/AEX. It has TWRP.
I have tried third party apps that manage default apps and as none detect the file manager association, they don't offer it up as an option to change. Some apps allow me to select Solid Explorer via the sidebar in "documents", the default file explorer.
The reason I want to do this is because some apps need access to /root and the default file manager does not browse root.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
